Crystal reports connectiong to Salesforce Driver on Windows 64 bit server

Hi,
We are in the process of  migrating our Crystal reports reports from BOXIR2 to R3. The R3 server is built on Wondows 2003 64bit server.
The reports work fine in 32bit windows2003 server on XIR2 environment.
Refreshing  the crytsal reports in BOXIR3 nfoview  on 64 bit server in  connceting to SFDC databse fails with a error inavalid database argument.
Refreshing the same report using CR 2008 client fails with an error message below.
Invalid Argument provided. Details: Java Server startup failure. Please verify the PATH (JDK), CLASSPATH and IORFileLocation properties in the CRConfig.xml file. In addition, please verify you are using JDK 1.5.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Chinna

This error usually means there is an issue with the Sales Force driver. Take a look at SAP Note 1197347 (same issue on an older version of Crystal Reports/BOE software).
Also take a look at SAP Note 1400317 if you installed SP2 on Crystal Reports 2008, another possible cause

  • Crystal Report XI Release 2 - Deployment Bug on SQL Server

    Post Author: PeterLiebich
    CA Forum: General
    H
    We have a VS 2005 Crystal web app deployed onto a server - not using the RAS but using the Crsytal Report Viewer.
    Nearly Everything is working however we have one slight bug which is driving me mad.
    All of our reports are constructed against a development SQL Server, and then the Application resets the report location at run time to the Appropriate production server.
    Everything works fine when I run the appliction via VS 2005 on my XP machine, the reports repoint successfully etc.
    When I build the App and deploy it to a server, the CrystalReportViewer fails with a "Database logon failed" if (and only if) the name of the database that the report was developent against is the same as the name as the database is being repointed to (on a different server).  If the developement and production databases have different names then the resetting of the location works fine.
    As I said the repointing works fine when I run the App on my development machine which has Crystal Reports XI Release 2 installed.
    On the Server I have installED the Crystal dlls via CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi dated 2007/03/01.
    I have also tried to deploy dlls via a GAC using CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm dated 2006/02/24.
    All to no avail
    Here is the code I use to repoint the report
    Dim crConnectionInfo As New CrystalDecisions.Shared.ConnectionInfo
    crConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity = True
    crConnectionInfo.ServerName = v_ServerName
    crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = v_DatabaseName
    'loop through all the tables and pass in the connection info
    Dim crTableLogOnInfo As CrystalDecisions.Shared.TableLogOnInfo

      crTableLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
      crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
      crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo)

      'loop through all the report objects to find all the subreports
      For Each crReportObject As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportObject In crSection.ReportObjects
        If crReportObject.Kind = CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject Then
        ' you will need to typecast the reportobject to a subreport object once you find it
         crSubreportObject = CType(crReportObject, CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.SubreportObject)
         'open the subreport object
         crSubreportDocument = crSubreportObject.OpenSubreport(crSubreportObject.SubreportName)
        'loop through all the tables in the subreport and
        'apply the connection set up previously to the subreports
        For Each crTable As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table In crSubreportDocument.Database.Tables

    Don't know if you ever found a solution, but here is how I got it to work.
    1) If it was created pointing to a localhost database, it may be using named pipes to connect, where as production / test uses TCP/IP.  Our CR9 system automatically switched from Named Pipes to TCP/IP but CR11 does not.  Repointing the report to a non local version of the database fixed one problem of runtime switching.  (This includes switching back to localhost).
    2) When you change the server name, CR11 does not update the table object, but clones it and applies the update to the clone.  I needed to update the location apply the update and then apply the login change (I am not using integrated security, so this may not apply to you.).  See the code below.  I call setServerInfo and then setLogonInfo. Sub setLogonInfo(ByRef myReport As ReportDocument)
            Dim logonInfo As New TableLogOnInfo
            Dim table As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table
            For Each table In myReport.Database.Tables
                logonInfo = table.LogOnInfo
                logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.UserID = loginName
                logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.Password = loginPassword
                table.ApplyLogOnInfo(logonInfo)
            Next table
        End Sub
        Sub setServerInfo(ByRef myReport As ReportDocument)
            Dim logonInfo As New TableLogOnInfo
            Dim table As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table
            For Each table In myReport.Database.Tables
                logonInfo = table.LogOnInfo
                Select Case AppSettings("DataEnvironment")
                     Case "PRODUCTION"
                          logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = "productionServer.local"
                     Case "TEST"
                          logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = "testServer.local"
                     Case "LOCAL"
                          logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = "localhost"
                 End Select
                 table.ApplyLogOnInfo(logonInfo)
            Next table

  • Crystal Report Runtime start splwow64.exe on windows 64 OS

    Hi,
    We are using the Crystal Reports runtime in our application. We are utilizing the runtime through the COM interface. Recently a client of us installed our application on windows 2003 64-bit. Now whenever a report is created windows starts splwow64.exe. As i understand this is a process started by windows to ensure compatibility with 32-bit. Normally this process is released when the job is done. However in our case the proces is never released and remains exclusively locked. Other application on the same machine also need this splwow64 process and this is now causing a problem.
    When the other applications on the server start splwow64 first it released when the job is done. It is only when creating a report (pdf) using the CR-runtime, it is never released.
    Any help would be very much appriciated!
    TIA
    Ronald

    Hi Ronald,
    XI is past it's end of life so nothing we can do to fix it now. Try CR XI R2 ( 11.5 ) with Service Pack 6, it has a better chance of working on 64 bit OS's.
    Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
    Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    Searching on this dll it appears to be the 32 to 64 bit Thunking spooler that converts 32 bit print jobs into 64 bit jobs ( or the other way around ). CR only supports 32 bit runtime so it may be that your print driver has issues. If you can find one that is 32 bit only but works on 64 bit OS then that will likely resolve the issue.
    Otherwise I suggest you contact the printer manufacture and ask them how to make their 64 bit driver work with a 32 bit app.
    Thank you

    Uninstall CRVS2010 that you currently have installed.
    To remove the assemblies from the GAC use gacutil. Google will get you a number of links on how to. Also, see the KB [1535325  - How to remove CRVS2010 Beta 2|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533333335333333323335%7D.do].

  • Crystal reports 2013 , SAP MDX Driver not able to connect with BW BEX Query

    Hi All,
    We just installed Crystal 2013, and want to create crystal report on SAP BW CUBE/BEX Query through SAP MDX Driver.
    1.When start connecting through SAP MDX Query option from new connection , SAP Systems which are in SAPLOGON are not appearing in initial screen. where as from OLAP Connection we are able to connect to SAP BEX Query.
    2.Even from SAP Tool kit we are not able to connect to BEX query, we are getting ERROR MESSAGE.
    and we are using SAP BI BO PLATFORM 4.1 sp01 .
    Please suggest me , if I am missing any configuration settings.
    Regards,
    Joseph

    Hi Joseph,
    Before you start building the report, make sure the right transports have been loaded on the SAP System. The right Transport files are the ones found inside the installation zip you download from SAP's server. They're under the "Collaterals\Add-Ons\SAP\Transports" folder.
    For more info on Transports, authorizations etc, please have your BASIS admin go through this wiki:
    Crystal Reports 2008 and BW - Installation and Configuration - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki
    To resolve your first issue, please follow the steps from this thread:
    Problems with SAPLogon.ini for SAP GUI and Crystal 2011
    P.S: Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1 does a better job at handling BEx queries that the CR 2013 designer. It directly connects to BEx queries via the BICS connectivity driver and doesn't need the Transports to be there on the SAP System. You might want to give this flavour of CR a try too.

  • Crystal Report XI R2 - RDC supported on Windows 64-bit

    Hello!
    We are using Crystal Report XI R2 runtime RDC component on Windows 32-bit platform.
    Is the RDC supported on Windows 64-bit platform?
    Best regards,
    A.

    Hi Alessandro,
    The version of Crystal Reports that comes with MS Visual Studio .NET, which is CR version 10.x, is 64 bit but is quite limited in it's functionality. Only some export types and database drivers are supported. It basically only allows you to view reports, no RCAPI functionalty at all.
    I suggest not going that way. RDC is not 64 bit at all, it's old COM engine and will not work in 64 bit mode as I said above. The RDC is not supoorted using .NET also.
    Thank again

  • Crystal Report Viewer is not appearing after hosting on server

    Dear Friends
    I developed a web application in Visual Studio 2010, and my Database is SQL Server 2008 R2.
    I created reports using Crystal Report 13 in Visual Studio and my Operating System is Windows 7 32-Bit.
    All reports are running fine at my machine.
    When I copied published folder into "wwwroot" folder and hosted, all reports are working Good.
    Here i have my web application in "Default Web Sites" in IIS.
    Then After I added a new website in IIS with a port No. and created a virtual folder and hosted my web application.
    The application is running fine, But the problem is Reports are not appearing on Web Page.
    I have created an toolbar to export the report. And when I am exporting the report to PDF, It is working well and reports are exported successfully.
    I didn't understand why this is happening?
    Is this a problem of  port no. ?
    or
    Is this a problem of IIS?
    or
    Is this a problem of Browser?
    or
    Is this a problem with CrystalReportViewer?
    or
    something else?
    In fact I have the folder for  "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client\system_web\4_0_30319\crystalreportviewers13". for crystal reports.

  • Emdedding Flash in Crystal Report 2008 - does not upload to XI R2 Server

    Hello:
    There was an error while retrieving data from the server: Failed to read data from report file C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SOD Dashboard_Xcelcius.rpt. Reason: Crystal Reports: Print Engine Error
    Flash is created from Xcelcius 2008. IIS has Local Account permissions. There is a reference to DLL Installation in forums (but that message is not shown up).
    Please suggest any help or solution

    You have to match BOE with the version of CR to make this work.

  • Get Crystal Report XI R2 to work on 64 bit OS (win 2K3) web ActiveX viewer

    Can anyone help me with the issue below, I have been working on this issue for long time and have intensively researched the internet and tried out few solutions but non worked for me.
    <p>
    <b>Overview:</b><br>
    I am working on an application that was build with a classic ASP and VB6 COMs. The COMs load rpt file, this would be the report template, then it loads a recordset into the rpt file and gets displayed on the web page using ActiveX viewer. There are few activities done by the COMs, varying from changing formulas, updating header and footer, suppressing sections to loading data. We are using crystal report XI release 2 with SP4 and application works fully ok on Windows XP and Windows 2003 on the 32 bit OS. Now we are trying to deploy the application on a 64 bit environment and we realise that we can only do this on 64 bit in a 32 bit mode. As we have VB COMs and they can only work on a 32 bit system. So I have done the following in order to enable our application to work and for the reports to run.
    <p>
    1)     Configure the IIS server to run in worker process isolation mode<br>
    2)      Enabling the 32bit mode by running this command <br>
    cscript.exe adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64 TRUE<br>
    3)     Install our COM application and give the required permission <br>
    4)     Install ASP files with rpt files and give the required permission<br>
    With few attempts I managed to run our application on the 64 bit system using the 32 bit mode, but few reports still fails to display.
    <p>
    <b>Problem:</b><br>
    I am unable to run and/or view crystal reports on a windows 2003 64 bit system.  I have turned on the 32 bit mode so I am able to run COM objects and I am able to run my application and view crystal reports but some reports still fails with no error message. The failed reports display the crystal viewer with no data no page but only the top bar with crystal controls e.g. export, move pages etc.
    <p>
    <b>Analysis/investigation:</b><br>
    I run the same application pointing to the same database as my 64 bit (32 bit mode) environment and run the reports with some data and it worked fine, so I saved the report and tried viewing on my 64 bit environment with simple crystal preview page. Unfortunately it was same result as report came back blank in the viewer with no pages even though if I open that report the crystal application it will show me data saved with it. I have to say on my windows 2003 32 bit system that was fully working, I needed to turn on isolation mode in IIS 6 (i.e. turn off worker processor mode) in order to get all my reports working, otherwise I would get the exact same issue that I have with the 64 bit system. However in my 64 bit system I canu2019t turn on isolation mode, as the 32 bit mode option requires the IIS to be set with worker processor mode or none of the COMs will work.
    <p>
    So please could you help with any suggestion, or solution if possible.
    <p>
    Many Thanks

    Hi Ludek
    <P>
    Let me clarify a bit about the issue we been have:<br>
    For example we have report-1.rpt and report-2.rpt, both are very similar and in fact report-2 have a little bit more information than report-1. So when I install our application on a webserver in Windows 2003 32 bit system, with Crystal Report XI R2 developer edition + SP4, both reports work perfectly fine and application save the report and show it on the crystal report ActivesX viewer. So I made copy of report-1.rpt and report2.rpt with data and kept it a side.
    <P>
    Now I install our application that is the asp files and COM objects on a 64 bit windows 2003 and turned on the 32 bit mode to enable our COMs to work. I then run our application pointing it to the same database I used with the other OS, and I tried to run report-1.rpt and report-2.rpt, so report-1.rpt has failed with the viewer showing but no pages and only the controls. However, the report-2.rpt worked fine with data showing ok. So I copied the 2 reports I generated from the other OS and pointed my view report asp page to these rpt files, again same result report-1.rpt failed and report-2.rpt worked ok.
    <P>
    So I guess what I am trying to say is we are using the exact same COMs on both OS and to generate on both reports, also pointing to the same database using the same connection string. The result is one report is failing on the 64 bit machine.
    <P>
    Now when I try to export/save the report-1.rpt, the report that come with no pages, I get the error below, this is the same error I get if I try to move to different pages.
    <br><br>CRAXDRT Error Occured on Server.70 : Permission denied
    <P>
    Please let me know if I can provide more information.
    <P>
    Many thanks

  • Which version of crystal reports can link to Windev 14 and SQL server 2008 applications

    I am developing an application with windev 14 and sql server 2008, i would like to know which version of crystal report can i use?

    Hi GS,
    Move to .NET SDK forum.
    I don't know how CR for Visual Studio will integrate into WinDev but to get the installer for VS 2010/2012/2013 go to this page:
    SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
    It's the runtime for CR 2011 or 2013 now.
    As for SQL 2008 you need to install the Client tools and when creating reports use the SQLNCLI10.dll as the client DB driver for ODBC or OLE DB.

  • Crystal Reports for VS 2008 deployment on a web server

    Hello,
    I have .NET web application created in Visual Studio 2008. It uses built-in Crystal Report Viewer control. The reports are not built into the assembly, they are loaded from report files prepared outside of Visual Studio 2008.
    I would like to deploy Crystal Reports run-time components on a web server (Windows 2008 server with IIS 7).  I have found the article describing what needs to be deployed: https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567
    Can you please let me know what kind of setup (virtual folder(s), permissions) is needed to make Crystal runtime components available for my web application. I have been trying to find instructions in the forums/wikis/articles with no success. I will need this info to communicate with our system administrator.
    Thank you.

    As long as you are deploying your app to a default app pool, you do not need to worry about virtual directories. The process you are running under will need read / write permissions on the win     emp folder as the report print engine uses that extensively.
    If you are using custom app pool you will have to either
    1) create the viewer virtual directory
    2) make the viewer folder part of your app directory structure
    Other than that, keep the following resources close at hand:
