Get Crystal Report XI R2 to work on 64 bit OS (win 2K3) web ActiveX viewer
Can anyone help me with the issue below, I have been working on this issue for long time and have intensively researched the internet and tried out few solutions but non worked for me.
<p>
<b>Overview:</b><br>
I am working on an application that was build with a classic ASP and VB6 COMs. The COMs load rpt file, this would be the report template, then it loads a recordset into the rpt file and gets displayed on the web page using ActiveX viewer. There are few activities done by the COMs, varying from changing formulas, updating header and footer, suppressing sections to loading data. We are using crystal report XI release 2 with SP4 and application works fully ok on Windows XP and Windows 2003 on the 32 bit OS. Now we are trying to deploy the application on a 64 bit environment and we realise that we can only do this on 64 bit in a 32 bit mode. As we have VB COMs and they can only work on a 32 bit system. So I have done the following in order to enable our application to work and for the reports to run.
<p>
1) Configure the IIS server to run in worker process isolation mode<br>
2) Enabling the 32bit mode by running this command <br>
cscript.exe adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64 TRUE<br>
3) Install our COM application and give the required permission <br>
4) Install ASP files with rpt files and give the required permission<br>
With few attempts I managed to run our application on the 64 bit system using the 32 bit mode, but few reports still fails to display.
<p>
<b>Problem:</b><br>
I am unable to run and/or view crystal reports on a windows 2003 64 bit system. I have turned on the 32 bit mode so I am able to run COM objects and I am able to run my application and view crystal reports but some reports still fails with no error message. The failed reports display the crystal viewer with no data no page but only the top bar with crystal controls e.g. export, move pages etc.
<p>
<b>Analysis/investigation:</b><br>
I run the same application pointing to the same database as my 64 bit (32 bit mode) environment and run the reports with some data and it worked fine, so I saved the report and tried viewing on my 64 bit environment with simple crystal preview page. Unfortunately it was same result as report came back blank in the viewer with no pages even though if I open that report the crystal application it will show me data saved with it. I have to say on my windows 2003 32 bit system that was fully working, I needed to turn on isolation mode in IIS 6 (i.e. turn off worker processor mode) in order to get all my reports working, otherwise I would get the exact same issue that I have with the 64 bit system. However in my 64 bit system I canu2019t turn on isolation mode, as the 32 bit mode option requires the IIS to be set with worker processor mode or none of the COMs will work.
<p>
So please could you help with any suggestion, or solution if possible.
<p>
Many Thanks
Hi Ludek
<P>
Let me clarify a bit about the issue we been have:<br>
For example we have report-1.rpt and report-2.rpt, both are very similar and in fact report-2 have a little bit more information than report-1. So when I install our application on a webserver in Windows 2003 32 bit system, with Crystal Report XI R2 developer edition + SP4, both reports work perfectly fine and application save the report and show it on the crystal report ActivesX viewer. So I made copy of report-1.rpt and report2.rpt with data and kept it a side.
<P>
Now I install our application that is the asp files and COM objects on a 64 bit windows 2003 and turned on the 32 bit mode to enable our COMs to work. I then run our application pointing it to the same database I used with the other OS, and I tried to run report-1.rpt and report-2.rpt, so report-1.rpt has failed with the viewer showing but no pages and only the controls. However, the report-2.rpt worked fine with data showing ok. So I copied the 2 reports I generated from the other OS and pointed my view report asp page to these rpt files, again same result report-1.rpt failed and report-2.rpt worked ok.
<P>
So I guess what I am trying to say is we are using the exact same COMs on both OS and to generate on both reports, also pointing to the same database using the same connection string. The result is one report is failing on the 64 bit machine.
<P>
Now when I try to export/save the report-1.rpt, the report that come with no pages, I get the error below, this is the same error I get if I try to move to different pages.
<br><br>CRAXDRT Error Occured on Server.70 : Permission denied
<P>
Please let me know if I can provide more information.
<P>
Many thanks

Crystal report 9 supports frame work 2.0
Hi experts,
we are using Crysatl report 9 and build the reports using VS2003 with the frame work 1.1.4322.
We are fetching the online report by deploying the same in the IIS server which has the frame work [1.0,1.1,2.0].
When we use Asp.net frame work 1.1.433 in the virtual directory, we have are not getting any issue.
If we go for Asp.net frame work 2.0.50727 in the virtual directory, we are receiving an error message in the event log as below:

As you must have guessed, Crystal reports 9 is not compatible / tested / supported with .NET 2.0.
Take a look at below wiki.

Report exported in Crystal Reports 9 won't work in Crystal Reports XI R2
Hello,
I have a .NET client that has been using Crystal Reports 9 for some time to generate reports and then exporting them to Crystal Reports format (.rpt), and saving the report including the data so that the user can open it at a later time and preview/print. This has been working fine so far.
Now we're in the process of updating our system to Crystal Reports XI R2. When a user selects an old report (that was originally created in CR9) to preview, CR XI prompts the user to submit a value for a string parameter that was originally submitted to the report when it was generated in CR9 but the value was set as either Nothing or the empty string. If we try to print the report then CR XI throws this error (probably because of the same parameter):
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ParameterFieldCurrentValueException: Missing parameter values. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004100E): Missing parameter values.

at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.PrintToPrinter(Int32 nCopies, Boolean collated, Int32 startPageN, Int32 endPageN)
Is there a solution to this? I've tried to submit a value to the parameter in code and then exporting the report again but that doesn't work. Any help appreciated.Hello,
Currently the FP is not available from our public site, it should be soon though.
Here's a link to get to our download page. If it asks please agree to download the authentication certificate.

Help - Crystal reports 2008 - will not work
I am a Systems Administrator for a small company of 450 users.
I am unfamiliar with Crystal reports
We have a recent problem with Crystal Reports 2008, only 1 user in the company uses it.
Since I recreated a windows profile on this users PC who has Crystal installed.
She is using .CSV files as her data sources. These CSV files are on her local machine.
She is trying to load an RTM template file, then do a refresh, and it asks for a datasource?
We try to select Excel, but it asks for a username and password to connect to the excel Datasource, and anything we type in fails.
Previously a refresh just worked.
I uninstalled reinstalled, still asking to select datasource.
I installed this originally 4 months ago and we did not have this problem.
Can you please assist?Hello,
Sounds like possibly a Microsoft update which altered the security settings either on the CSV or the folder where it's located.
Can she create a new report off the CSV if she copies it locally? I assume the csv is on a network share?

How to get Crystal Reports Editor in Visual Studio 2013 Preview?
In Visual Studio 2005, if I double-click a *.RPT file in Solution Explorer, the file opens in the Crystal Reports editor.
In Visual Studio 2013 Preview, if I double-click a *.RPT file, it opens in Notepad. How do I get it to use the Crystal Reports editor again, please?
Thanks and RICKgards
Rick RaubenheimerHi Rick,
Since Visual Studio 2013 is still Preview version, I don't think you can find something like this:
SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio - 2012
Please notice that you will need to install additional packages for latest VS version, such as Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012,
For more details, please reopen a new case on this forum:
http://scn.sap.com/community/crystal-reports-for-visual-studio/content?filterID=content~objecttype~objecttype[thread]
Or contact SAP for support since it is a third party feature to Visual Studio.

How to get Crystal Reports for Visual studio Download
I'm confused! All the links seem to take me to this page SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
It has lots of fixes and updates but I can't seem to find the actual Crystal reports for Visual Studio 2010 download. What am I missing? Am I just blind?
EDIT - I reread the page "All support packs are full builds of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010/2012, thus it is not necessary to update incrementally" Does this mean the update download includes everything I need to integrate CR with my Visual Studio 2010? If so, is it save to install the update over a previously installed version? I have one machine that has both CR for VS 2005 and CR for VS 2010.
thanks for any adviseDoes this mean the update download includes everything I need to integrate CR with my Visual Studio 2010?
Yes.
Follow the below procedure to integrate CR for VS 2010 with VS 2010.
from the link http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7824 download 'Support Pack 10 Install executable' (first row first column).
Make sure you have VS 2010 installed. Now install the above downloaded exe on top of VS 2010.
That is it, above steps should integrate CR with VS 2010.
Even if you have a previous version of CR for VS 2010 installed, iw ould not make a difference as it is not a incremental build but a full build.
I hope this clears the confusion.

User Function Library for Crystal Reports 10 doesn't work on Win2K3 SP2
Hi,
Recently, we have been facing problem with Crystal Reports 10 developer edition on Windows Server 2003 R2 Service Pack2.
The user function library concept doesnu2019t seem to be working on Windows Server 2003. We had installed CR10 Service Pack 6.
We have a UFL written in VB 6.0 and this UFL is used in a formula in one of our reports.
Whenever this report is invoked, the application crashes with a page fault. Dr Watson log files points to a crash occurring in Crystal Reports component.
To reproduce this problem:
1) Create a UFL in VB 6.0
2) Use the UFL in a formula in a report
3) Create a VB 6.0 application and use CR 10 Report Viewer control
4) Invoke the report from the application
5) The application crashes on Windows Server 2003 (SP2).
This is a high priority issue.
Is there any other alternative to User Function Library?
Any help on this will be very much appreciated.

Crystal Report Add-On not working
Hello Experts,
We have freshly installed Crystal Reports Add-On. when we start the add-on it says it is connected but when we try to access any of the forms in the Crystal Reports sap screen comes up with a message window stating
"There is already an open Datareader associated with this command which must be closed first"
which does allow any further transactions in crystal reports screens.

Crystal Report .csv export not working
Hi Folks,
I developed reports in Crystal Report XI R2 version (with service pack 6) and calling them from Power Builder 11.5. When I export the report to .csv format I see only parameter names with values (supplied to call this report) in csv file.
For eg:
Parameters are
Start Date: 01/01/2012
End Date: 02/01/2012
CompanyID: 21234
Regular output:
colum1 colum2 ...... columnn
data1 data2 datan
data1 data2 datan
data1 data2 datan
..... 10 records
csv output looks like this:
Start Date 01/01/2012 End Date 02/02/2012 CompanyID 21234
Start Date 01/01/2012 End Date 02/02/2012 CompanyID 21234
Start Date 01/01/2012 End Date 02/02/2012 CompanyID 21234
..... 10 records
Please let me know what changes should I do.
Thanks

Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime, Windows Server 2008 64-Bit AND SharePoint2007
Hi Guys,
here i'm again.
Well I'm developing on a 32-Bit OS with Crystal Reports 2008. I've deployed my solution to SharePoint, but when i try to call a report in the aspx-Website i get the following error:
Exception Details: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.LoadSaveReportException: An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.
Here are the technical details:
- Windows Server 2008 (64Bit)
- IIS7
- Microsoft Office Server 2008 (64Bit)
- Crystal Reports 2008 SP3
I've read, that there isn't a 64-Bit runtime version of CR2008. Then i tryed the two following suggestions i found in this forum:
1. Try to run the IIS-Application-Pool in 32-Bit-Mode -> This don't work, because SharePoint then throws a "Internal Server Error - Code 500" (no SharePoint Sites are available).
2. Try to compile the Visual Studio Project as 32-Bit -> This don't work, because SharePoint could not load the assembly
Well, are there any other hints, suggestions or experiences how i could get this to work?
Thanks in advance,
Christian

Edited by: Ly Thanh Quan on Jun 21, 2010 9:17 AMHi,
first you must uninstall the 64 bit version.
But you can install the 32bit version on a 64bit OS.
When you install the 32bit version please make sure to not install into the "Program Files (x86)" Folder - somethimes i had problems with the "(" ")".
Regards
