CS3 Can't activate Recorder - additional solution

Hi all,
I was having the standard Windows 7 64bit firewire capture problem outlined here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/869277. However, having followed those steps, I was still getting the "Can't Activate Recorder. Try Resetting Camera." error when trying to capture DV footage (DVCAM as it happens). I can capture HDV fine - and yes, I'm changing over the capture settings and the playback setting on the camera.
I had got to the point of being able to control the camera with the buttons at the bottom of the capture window, but had no display, and still had that error.
Happily, I have discovered an additional step which enables me to capture DV. You need to click the Edit button under Capture Settings (on the Settings tab), and in the window that pops up, click settings again. Then untick all the boxes (Preview Video on Desktop, Preview Audio on Desktop) for both During Preview and During Capture.
This should leave you with a black screen, but premiere will happily capture clips properly. You'll obviously need to log clips blind (without a display on the monitor), or capture whole tapes at a time, but it's still a valuable workaround.
So I just thought I'd post it up, seeing as I've seen some other poor souls on my forum travels who need this solution!
My specs: Premiere CS3 (3.2.0). Windows 7 64bit Home Premium. AMD Athlon II X2 245 2.9Ghz. 8GB RAM. NVidia GTS 450. Camera - Sony Z1E.

When you are saying "HD" I think you mean "DV".  The HVR-V1U, has 3 record formats. "DV" and "DVCAM" are 480i "Standard Definition" video and "HDV" is 1080i "High Definition" video.  I had this same error when I switched over from editing in DV using CS4 to editing in HDV using CS5.  In most Sony mini DV tape based HDV cameras you need to turn the "iLink conversion" off in the camera to keep the camera from converting the HDV video to DV while the camera exports footage, otherwise your High Defiition footage comes out as Standard Definition footage.  I knew enough to do that.  The part that does not make sense to me and where I got lost is every time I open a new HDV project file in Premiere Pro CS5, my default capture setting always reverts back to "DV" and I have to go in to my capture settings and manually switch it to "HDV" every time I create a new project which is annoying.  It would seem to me that either there would be no option for "DV" capture in an HDV project file, or at least the default capture setting in an HDV project would be "HDV".  If I am missing some reason why you would want to capture DV footage in an HDV project file, can someone please enlighten me???

    This is usually a easy fix based on what I know on Premiere and in comparison to other peoples threads I've seen with the same problem. However, my problem doesn't seem to have the same symptoms from what i've seen.
    As the title indicates, when I go to the capture panel I get the "Can't Activate Recorder. Try Resetting Camera".
    Both Windows and Adobe can detect when the device turns on and Off, but for some reason, both cs6 and cs5.5 cant access the device for playback. The device is a Sony HVR-M25U.
    It works, because before I started using my new rig, which was only a couple of weeks ago.
    My Previous Machine picked it up in cs5.5 with no problem, it's a pretty decent machine too. I'm pretty very certain that it still can detect the device with no problems. Only problem is I can't use it until I get a new video card. Or I can remove the vid card from my current machine and put it back into the old one and capture the tape that way, but that is far more tedious and doing that every time a tape comes along would become annoying.
    In the Device Control Panel, DV/HDV is selected and in the options, the Check Status Box is Listed as Online.
    The Rig I have didn't come with a firewire port, so I bought a PCI 2.0 Firewire Card and installed it. Device Manager has it listed as working correctly.
    What do you guys think the fault could be? I'm starting to think it's the firewire card, unless there are other ways to trouble shoot  that I am not aware of in Premiere in regards to device capture. I'm almost 100% sure it's not the device. The only other thing it could be is Adobe Pemiere Pro or the Firewire card I bought. Any suggestions?

  • Premiere won't recognize my camera (Can't activate recorder. Try resetting camera.)

    Ok I have a very perplexing situation.  I have been doing video editing for years but this is a new one for me.  I just got a new Windows 7 PC (64 bit) I7-8GB RAM Lenovo system.  I just installed Premiere CS5.5 on it and installed a new SIIG firewire card.  I have a Sony Mini-DV camercorder that works great and have been exporting with firewire on my previous 3 systems with no problem (last system was Win 7 64bit as well).  On this system I attach the camera via firewire cable and Windows instantly recognizes the camera and the general dialog box comes up asking me if I would like to capture video with Adobe Premiere, Cyberlink PowerDirector, or Windows Live Photo Gallery.   Both PowerDirector and Windows Photo Gallery I can open and capture video with no problems. However if I open Premiere in anyway (in DV mode) and bring up the capture window while the camera is on I get the message:  "Can't activate recorder.  Try resetting camera."   If I switch the camera off while the capture window is up it then switches to the message "Capture device offline". 
    So it seems the firewire card, camera are fine, but giving Premiere fits for some reason.   Side notes, I also have a Sony FX-1 HD camera which I can connect with the same firewire cable and inside Premiere and it will capture video but will not display it while capturing (I read this is common with High Def video though).   I also have disabled the Windows firewall as I read about in other threads.  I have tried 2 other firewire cards with the same exact results.  The mini-DV camera I'm trying to get Premiere to capture with is a Sony DCR-PC9 and I have used it in my last 3 systems all running Windows and Premiere. This is really frustating.
    Any tips and or advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Dreamweaver CS3- Can't activate after reformat of hard drive

    Hello
    I had to reformat my hard drive due to a virus and made note of all my serial numbers.
    I put Dreamweaver CS3 back on laptop with disc and it accepts my code but then I have to phone to activate it fully.
    I then get a message on  the phone telling me to go to adobe.com/go/activation, I can then do nothing there.
    It tells me to click help in dreamweaver and activate from there but I can't get past an activation screen to get there.
    Please help as I need to work on my website.

    I know CS2's server has been deactivated due to some unnamed "technical problem".

    Lack of support from that company seems to be a non-uncommon problem.     99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
    So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.
    Apple has started to get "tough" with hacked iPhones, & simply won't permit their activation

    Go throuth this info we can know the how to create view and same like database table only we can fetch the data.
    Views conatin the data at runtime only.
    Four different view types are supported. These differ in the

    Database views are implemented with an equivalent view on
    the database.
    Projection views are used to hide fields of a table (only
    projection).
    Help views can be used as selection method in search helps.
    Maintenance views permit you to maintain the data

    step by step creation of Maintenance view:
    With the help of the table maintenance generator, you are able to maintain the ENTRIES of the table in SM30 transaction.

    After that from SM30, enter the table name and Maintain, create new entries, change the existing entries for that table.

  • Premier Pro CS3 doesn't activate

    Hi, my Premier Pro CS3 doesn't activate. Or once it kind of did but now it claims that it hasn't. I've tried to solve this with Adobe chat support personel for 4 times now and three of them said "Now it works, you won't run into problems anymore", which of course I have, and the last fellow said "It's a technical problem which we have little information of, please ask from technical support". He gave me a link to this forum. How you guys could help me if they couldn't is beyond me, but I definitely hope you can. The product is licensed for two computers in our company, and last time the chat -fellow cleaned previous activations and now it should only be licensed on my computer as my collague hasn't got time to do it yet. The error message that I'm getting is something like "Unable to connect Adobe" and then there're 3 options 1st: retry (doesn't work) 2nd: try again later (gives 30 days trial I guess) 3rd: Trial or such.. It work fine two times after the 3rd chat -fellow "fixed it", but then I got Adobe CC with photoshop and LR5 and now the problem is back. Any ideas? I would greatly appriciate any leads fixing this as I should use Premier for my company.

    Hardware crashes or virus infections or simple software problems happen, so you should buy AND USE software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new setup or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
    This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)

  • NB305-N410BN-G = FN+F8 can't activate 3G / but FN+F8 can activate WIFI

    Hi everybody,
    got also a problem with the Toshiba FN F8 switch under Windows 7 Starter x86 (32Bit). I can switch on and off the transmission of my built in WIFI but not my built in 3G mobile broadband (Sierra Wireless Gobi 2000) anymore. It worked fine so far. But then I had to send my Netbook for service because the LCD remained black. With external monitor it worked fine... Anyhow; they exchanged the mainboard and now LCD is fine again. But my 3G connection does not work, because I cannot activate the transmission of the antenna.
    Actual conditions / situation / observations:
    1) Sierra Wireless Gobi 2000 - 3G card is present in the device manager, is activated and shown without any problems or restrictions.
    2) I even can carry out the modem test successfully!
    3) Under network connections the Sierra card is present but displayed with a red X. But I cannot activate it there.
    4) In addition I can de-activate it there despite the already shown red X.
    5) When I run the Toshiba Wireless manager shows that card is present but transmission is switched off. "Please switch on with FN+F8".... arrgh!!!
    I tried already following steps:
    1) installed all available and latest Sierra drivers Sierra 3G driver (v1.1.140; 05-03-2010; 37.58M)
    2) made BIOS update to latest version 1.50 = Wireless connection switch is enabled = and WIFI works very well...
    3) installed latest Toshiba Value Added Package (v1.3.6; 04-09-2010; 44.36M)
    4) installed latest Toshiba Flash Cards Support Utility (v1.63.0.5C; 12-28-2009; 9.38M)
    5) installed latest Toshiba 3G Connection Manager (v2.1.97; 05-20-2010; 29.28M)
    6) carried out a complete system restore with system recovery (installing a 1:1 copy of the originally delivered partition of drive C:)
    7) tried another way by complete new installation of Windows 7 starter x86 on emty drive C: and installed the Sierra drivers as well as the Toshiba value added package and flash cards support utility
    8) tried 3rd party software for controlling the 3G connection MWCONN (find here: www.MWconn.info) - the config.exe can activate transmission for a few seconds by using the function "device/ network analysis/ start". This causes the blue broadband connection LED on the fronside of my netbook to be lit for a few seconds. But ufter the test it remains unlit again. So I can switch the transmission on temporarily but not permanent. AND - THERE IS A WAY TO SWITCH TRANSMISSION ON BY MEANS OF SOFTWARE !!! --- But HOW...!?
    What did I not try yet:
    1) finding someone with same netbbok NB305-N410BN-G => exchanging the hard drive temporarily to test and switch on Sierra 3G in my netbook. It will be even very difficult since I'm sitting in Germany actually...
    !!! PLEASE HELP !!! = does not have or had anyone else same or similar problem... ???

    Thank you for your reply. And YES, I've already tried the new BIOS v1.70 (even took it from the European Toshiba side, before download was officially available on the US-page) - but unfortunately also without success. It's really sad! I can't understand, why Toshiba sells such unreliable solutions. There seems to be no chance for another way to activate the antenna of the built-in 3G card. I cannot believe this!
    Meanwhile I also tried to interchange the WIFI and 3G modules. But it also does not work. The 3G module in the WIFI slot has an activated antenna, but - off course - an error by showing a missing SIM-card (SIM-slot is assigned only to the other slot). The WIFI module remains completely "ignored" in the 3G slot.
    Is there absolutely no solution for this problem??? What about covering single pins (contacts) on the 3G module - like with WIFI modules not originally released by Toshiba (modified Firmware) in earlier days?

    I am trying to install Windows Vista Business (retail boxed) 64 bit.  The box didn't include 64 bit media and so I've downloaded it from technet. The install asks for the product key but it is not accepted "your product key cannot be validated.

    I'm a bit confused with this paragraph, as you said Vista already install on your computer, why did you say Windows can't be installed?
    According to your description with your problem, it is Product edition and key are not match. Firstly of all, we must make sure the system you installed on your computer was
    Windows Vista Business, not matter 32 or 64 bit.
    Note: you can check current system edtion at System Properties.
    After that, you can try to input your product key and activate your system for test.
    If problem still presists, it would be better to provide the activation error message.

  • Can we activate Classic General Ledger in ECC6.0 during upgrade from 4.6C

    Dear SAP Gurus,
    Greetings
    My Client's technical team had upgraded their system from 4.6C to ECC6.0 and they had activated classic GL instead of New GL. And they had also activated classic withholding tax in place of Extended Withholding tax.
    They are facing some error during posting of transactions (like generation of excise invoices, posting of WHT transactions, etc.) I told that it can be a reason of not activating New GL.
    Is my understanding correct...?? Can we activate classic GL during upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6.0...??
    In case of a new client built (with ECC6.0), can we activate the classic GL instead of the New GL..??
    Does the system will work correctly in the long run if they had activated classic GL and classic WHT...??

    I think that you should read long text of OSS note 999614 carfully and you are
    aware of the fact that you will have additional migration efforts in
    case you need to migrate to new G/L later on.
    In case you are convinced that  this is the best way please feel free
    to deactivate new G/L as described in note 999614.
    Please make sure that you deactivate new G/L in all clients of your
    new system in case there were already client copies done.
    Yes this is possible and I would not automatically assume that
    error during posting of transactions are due to New GL not being activated.
    Note 756146 documents the issue and possible repercussions
    of using Classic GL.
    In the case of a new installation the new G/L accounting
    is active by default in ERP. In principle, the use
    of the classic GL is also possible for new customers, however,
    SAP does not recommend it since this requires an additional
    migration expense in later years.

  • Illustrator CS3 can't print/save as PDF

    I installed CS3 and the error message:
    "The Save as PDF and Save PDF as PostScript options in the Printer Dialog are not supported"
    Does this mean that its not picking up on the Adobe Acrobat/Distiller 8?
    How would I activate this? Help!!
    Same thing with InDesign CS3, can't print/save as PDF.

    It may be looking for your RIP ppd, as well as Acrobat 8. Acrobat should have installed all the necessary files, but you might take a look into that. I don't think Distiller is part of the Save-As procedure. You might take a look into "Add-A-Printer" OSX option and select Acrobat 8 there ( although it should have loaded during the install ). Another option is re-install your printer's software and any RIP software ( if available ). Before you do, get whatever updates you can from the manufacturer. It could also mean, after you've done the previous suggestions, you correct permissions on your HD using Apple's Disk Utility. Leave the machine ON overnight so that the Apple Utilities can clean house while you're sleeping.
