  • CS3 / Javascript - Script Error 27: Stack overrun

    Hi
I have a script who is running all the time (like an Idle). This script calls a method in my own plugin, this method execute an action in my plugin. During this action, I call another Javascript to checkout a document from a content management system.
    This means:
    - A running script (Idle) calls a method in my plugin written in C++
    - The plugin calls another Javascript to checkout the document while the first plugin (Idle) is still runnung.
This generates an error 27, stack overrun. I have tried several possibilities (with and without a main function, with and without #targetengine and so on), but always the same error.
    - What can I do?
    - Is it possible to run another script during the execution of one?
    - How can I do that?
    - Can I run two Javascript in her own environments? I mean own stack, own main and so on...
    Thanks for any hint.
    Hans

John is right, this is more of a plugin/SDK question, I would have expected it in that forum first hand.
Hans has cross posted this question into a swiss/german scripting forum with more details, and I've given a few suggestions. It broils down to the fact that the plugin access to scripting in CS3 had to address the JavaScript scripting subsystem rather than talk to a specific engine. And my strong guess is that the RunFile function triggered by the idle task of the first plugin is not reentrant so the second plugin can not invoke a method the same way.
My suggestions, in brief: upgrade to CS4 where engines are independently addressible. Alternatively, one can try the other methods to invoke the script - RunScript rather than RunFile, or even use the callback mechanism that underlies the event listener registration. Easily accessible from the same interface class.
Of course for the reentrancy problem I would not expect a Stack overrun error, so maybe it is not reentrancy at all but just the obvious - the second plugin calling itself in recursion. A breakpoint should easily tell.

  • CS3 javascript XML and attribute adding.

I've been trying to get something working in CS3 javascript XML for some time and it is getting really frustrating.
    Say I have:
    var someXML = new XML("<anElement/>");
    someXML.@xxx = "something";
    $.writeln(someXML.toXMLString());
    gives the output I'd expect (<anElement xxx="something"/>);
But I need the name of the attribute to be dynamic.  As far as I can see I should be able to either:
    someXML.getAttribute("xxx") = "something";
    or
    someXML.@["xxx"] = "something";
both these cases give an error of 'Cannot set property xxx'.  I'm using CS3 version 5.0.4 (the debug build because most of the time I'm working directly with the API - not through scripting).
I looking for ideas to try...
    Ian

Hi Ole, thanks for the reply.
I am aiming to manipulate XML using standard javascript functions - nothing directly to do with indesign, though other parts of the script does interact with it.  Basically the scripts allow a user to set some configuration options and that is in an XML string format (if it was the indesign XML Hierarchy XMLElements, etc I'm pretty sure I could get things to work - worst case I could add to the scripting support in a plugin and make it work...).
I had an idea (driving home after a frustrating day), Since the XML I'm processing is small, I can move forward by crudely making a string from the XML object, inserting the attribute into the string and then re-new'ing the XML object.  With large comments about why - unless someone can come up with a reason/fix for the javascript-XML not working (I suppose it may just be the number of InDesign/Extendscript versions I have installed - CS2/CS3/CS4, indesign and server).

  • The dreaded "Video Error-File Not Installed" When trying to watch LiveTV in WMC

I'm getting the following error message when trying to use Live TV in WMC:
    Video Error
Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer.
On this system my tuners are the Hauppauge HVR 2250 and the Hauppauge HD PVR.  It took awhile to set up, but when I click play on a channel I get 10 seconds of video, an audio loop of the same sound over & over followed by the above error message.
I ran into this problem once before on my Home Theater HTPC when trying to access the ATI Cable Card solution.  To get that to work I had to uninstall and reinstall Playready.  I tried 3 different ways of doing this on my new build & it did
not fix the problem.  The only fix I didn't try was the one on Ceton's website that involves a whole lot of deleting of folders.
Since this current build doesn't have a cablecard installed, and gets the non-clear QAM stations from settop box through HD PVR, would it still be the Playready needing to be reset?  The symptoms look identical to when I had the previous problem.
These same files play in the BeyondTV that I'm trying to migrate from, so all codecs appear to be onboard.  I am using the latest HDPVR MediaCenter driver from the Hauppauge website & the latest drivers on the HVR-2250.
    Thanks for any help!

I had this problem after upgrading my graphics card to an AMD 5450 and the solution after a couple of days of hair pulling was one I hadn't come across before in relation to this problem.
It turned out that the problem was caused by the screen refresh rate, it was set to 60Hz by default and I got the Video Error message but if I changed it to 50Hz then playback of recorded programs or watching live TV worked.

  • InDesign CS3 crashes without error when opening any 2nd InDesign file

Issue: InDesign CS3 crashes without error and remains resident in memory if we have an InDesign file open and attempt to open a second InDesign file.
    OS: Win XP SP2
    InDesign Version: 5.0.2
Hardware: Dell Precision WorkStation T3400, 4 gigabytes of memory, Intel Core2 Quad processor Q6600
Details: No messages in the event viewer about the problem. We renamed the InDesign Defaults and the InDesign Saved Data file. We removed Creative Suite, restarted and then reinstalled Creative Suite (I could not remove and reinstall InDesign individually). We have created a new Windows profile for this user. I have one computer having the trouble. Other InDesign installations are working fine. This computer has 559 files in C:\windows\fonts. Other people that are not having the problem have a larger number of fonts installed.
The issue is not file specific. We are not running out of memory as I checked the task manager after the first InDesign document is open.
Why is opening a second document different than opening the first document?

    Hello Peter and Josh,
I'd just like to assert that I am having the exact same problem as Josh. I've spent the time to go through the steps listed above and have found the same results.
The issue as we see it multiple times daily is as follows:
    (1) User opens File1 (everything works fine)
    (2) User goes to open File2 (via explorer or via file->open) or print File1
    (3) The User Interface for ID disappears (InDesign.exe still appears in Task Manager and is NOT listed as "Not Responding", ID does not appear in the Task Bar)
    (4) The only way to continue work is to End Task/End Process InDesign.exe and relaunch.
No error messages appear, no error logs are created(that I can find). Non-related concerns caused us to upgrade this users PC. With a completely new install we are still having the problems. The systems are listed as follows:
OS: Win XP SP2 (fully updated minus SP3)
    InDesign Version: 5.0.2
Newest Hardware: Custom Built Computer, 4GB RAM installed (3.24 recognized by windows), Intel Core2 Quad processor Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
OS: Win XP SP2 (fully updated minus SP3)
    InDesign Version: 5.0.2
Older Hardware: Custom Built Computer, Intel D945GTP Motherboard, 2GB RAM installed, Intel Pentium D processor @ 2.8Ghz
    Troubleshooting:
    (1) Alt+Space and M then using arrow keys moves every other window the user had opened other than In-Design. The user has two monitors. (a) 1280x1024 and (b) 1200x1600 (yes she uses the monitor rotated 90 degrees
    (2) Log files - Non exist in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS3 folder. I've also done a search across the entire hard drive for any "*.log" files, none of which were adobe related.
    (3) Default Printer - Changing the default printer to Adobe PDF is not really an option. I was able to convince the user to temporarily switch to a different networked printer and await the results (most likely today or tomorrow it should recreate)
    (4) /3GB switch - Getting that last 700 something MB of memory isn't an issue. I've run MemTest.exe on all the available system memory overnight in a "burn in" test. The system ran fine the sticks were nice and warm when I got in from all the hard work :)
    (5) Order of Opening - The problem repeates regardless of order. The trick seems to be opening File2 or printing File1 (I had the user only work on one file at a time (required her to close any open files before opening the next, that wasn't fun for my user but the system didn't crash on opening in this scenario, just on printing. Obviously not a permanent work around)
Any help here would be much appreciated as this has been plaguing us for months now.

  • Bridge Scripting Capabilities (CS3 Javascript)

Hi -- We have many users at our company who need to edit metadata in images (primarily jpegs, but some tifs). These users do not have access to Photoshop but do have access to Bridge.
I have written a script in Bridge that opens a dialog window for them to edit certain metadata. It is accessed through the tools menu.
The problem is I need to further automate the process but am unsure what the capabilities of Bridge are.
What I would like to try to do:
Currently the user would need to open Bridge, select the item (or drag the item onto the Bridge shorcut) and choose the script from the tools menu. Would there be any way to automate this further, maybe through some sort of folder action, or a trigger when the user drags a file onto the shortcut. Or is there anyway to assign shortcut keys in Bridge to Scripts?
Also, is there anyway to script Bridge so that the files will be copied (and renamed) to a specific folder (again, without photoshop)?
Any ideas would be appreciated. I have not used Bridge that much, so if I am going the wrong direction with this, please speak up. If anyone wants to point me in another direction, that would fine.
    thanks

    Hello,
      I'm a Bridge Quality Engineer.
If you want to write the scripts to auto your cases, please firstly download Bridge SDK and read the DOM API of Bridge. I believe these documents will help you a lot. Please download the SDK from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/bridge/, and read the doc in folder 'docs'. The API provided are described in Bridge CS3 JavaScript Reference.pdf.
After read it, you will find you can call the API to auto the process instead of 'through some sort of folder action, or a trigger when the user drags a file onto the shortcut'.
And you can also get help by launching Adobe ExtendScript Tooolkit, which is installed automatically when Bridge is installed. By select menu Help-> Object Model Viewer, you can get info of Bridge DOM API, and also Core JavaScript Classes and Script UI Classes.
Please check the API of File and Folder(in Core JavaScript Classes), and you can find File has copy() API, by using which you can copy files to a specific folder.
If you have further question, please send it out.
      Thanks for support!

  • AS: setting table properties in ID CS3 invokes odd error message

I'm converting an InDesign CS2 script to CS3 and am having the strangest error. This code used to work in ID CS2 for the selected text frame:
    >tell parent story of insertion point 1 of selection
    >set theTable to make table with properties {width:gridColumnWidth, body row count:totalGridRows, header row count:0, footer row count:0, column count:totalGridColumns, height:gridRowHeight, left border stroke weight:gridBorderWeight, right border stroke weight:gridBorderWeight, top border stroke weight:gridBorderWeight, bottom border stroke weight:gridBorderWeight, left border stroke type:"Solid", right border stroke type:"Solid", top border stroke type:"Solid", bottom border stroke type:"Solid", space after:0, space before:0}
    >end tell
But now it chokes and gives me this strange error:
    >Adobe InDesign CS3 got an error: Invalid value for set property 'height'. Expected number or string, but received 21.80909090909093.
Huh? That obviously has to be a number or string, so what's going on? What's even weirder is if I delete all the table properties except for weight and height, the script doesn't give the error. I know I can do this with a table style, but I'd like to understand what the problem is before I take that step.

    Shane:
I was completely distracted by another project and am just getting back to addressing this problem. Sorry about that.
Anyway, your suggestion was a sound one: I set the width and height in the first statement, added everything else in a second statement, and it worked perfectly. Thanks! Any idea why I needed to do so?

  • Cs4 opens cs3 files with errors

Here's a big heads up for anyone considering upgrading to cs4 - don't!  I've been working on a cs3 project and decided to upgrade to cs4 for the extras in the 3D toolset.  All the Adobe propoganda implies this can be achieved no problem, as did soemone on telephone tech support.  Perhaps I didn't clearly ask 'can I open my cs3 file in cs4'.  I can BUT the clips are very much 'out of synch.  I'll lick my wounds and go back to finishing in cs3 but don't purchase cs4 if you think you can seamless import your sc3 project.  Because it seems you very much can not!

    Dennis,
    Many thanks.

    Jarrod,
As I've stated here in this forum, we're trying to transition Adobe technical support to a new organization and providing the best support we can to our customers.  That being said, it is a long and sometimes painful process, which is why I am here on the forums at times to lend some support.  This doesn't help you and you might not even care so...
    Here's a couple of suggestions:
    1. make sure your software is updated (Premiere Pro 4.2.1) by going to help>updates
    2. clear your prefs - http://blogs.adobe.com/genesisproject/2009/11/having_weird_behavior_with_an.html
    3. try importing (ctrl-I) a CS3 project into CS4
Try these things and let me know how you make out.  Also, it would be very helpful if you told us about your system and the specs.  I've posted about the importance of 64-bit and lots of memory many times.  You can find one link here: http://blogs.adobe.com/genesisproject/2009/03/64_bit_os_and_adobe_products.html
The future of Premiere Pro is 64-bit only: http://blogs.adobe.com/genesisproject/2009/10/its_official_64bit_is_the_futu.html
Beyond that if you'd like me to look into your case, please post your case # here or in a private message to me and I'll gladly look at it.
I sense your frustration and its understandable - give us a chance to help you.

  • JavaScript Runtime Errors in init.debug.js

I have a custom branding solution for a SharePoint 2013 site collection in Visual Studio.  When I navigate the site collection or debug the solution, I seemingly randomly get Unhandled Exceptions in the /_layouts/15/init.debug.js.  It's rather
0x800a03ee-JavaScript runtime error:  Expected ')' or 0x80070005 JavaScript runtime error:  Access is denied.  The first error occurs just navigating the site collection.  The second error occurs when I hover over the name with presence
at the bottom while editing an item.  I haven't edited this script at all, so what can cause this JavaScript that is in the hive to throw exceptions, and what is a good approach to debug it in order to get to the root of the problem?

Thank you for your response. I'm in a SharePoint 2013 development environment using IE10.  When I added the site collection as a trusted site in the local intranet zone in IE 10, I no longer get the JavaScript runtime related to the name of presence
and Access.  When I deploy the solution, I do not get any errors.  But if I debug in Visual Studio, the solution, which is set of features that installs a master page with custom navigation, I get this error when I navigate the site collection:
Unhandled exception at line 6784, column 13 in layouts/15/init.debug.js?rev=z/JdnR/rlmz5Wvyfz5qrBg==
    0x800a03ee - JavaScript runtime error: Expected ')'
The error occurs in NotifyScriptLoadedAndExecuteWaitingJobs in init.debug.js, and the call stack goes back to DeltaManager$_ScriptLoader in start.debug.js and eventually to the browserHandler, ScriptResource.axd.
init.debug.js, correct me if I'm wrong please, is a JavaScript that SharePoint adds during debugging.  If I go in the hive and add that ')' where it breaks, then everything breaks.  Why is this error thrown, and what is the rev parameter at the
    end of the query string?
The custom master page in the solution being installed has a line:
    <
    asp:ScriptManagerid="ScriptManager"runat="server"EnablePageMethods="false"EnablePartialRendering="true"EnableScriptGlobalization="false"EnableScriptLocalization="true"/>
I added ScriptMode="Debug", and the errors occur during debugging.  I changed it to ScriptMode="Release", and still got the same errors.
I'm not sure if and where in the code things are breaking, but I'm having trouble understanding why SharePoint, Visual Studio, and Internet Explorer behave in this manner.

  • CS3 Flash Video Encoder no sound

I have been using the Macromedia Flash FLV encoder for a very

  • You Tube message Video Error

When i try playing You Tube videos i get "video Error video cannot be played"  - any ideas why? :-(

It happens to mine also. I've noticed this even from os 1.8. Now that I'm using 2.0, I can confirm it still happens. In my experience, whenever you see the error when opening "YouTube app" all embedded video on websites using the browser and some embedded (java?) software won't load either.
     Try:
Speedtest.net (won't load test box embedded in page)
    Break.com (won't load video)
    Vevo videos won't load also.
I tried hard reset and nothing happens. I hard reset and leave playbook off for a few hours and everything works again.
This always happens when I go to a page and the website will open a new tab automatically for ads. I close the new tab and "voila" everything is broken.
I hope it gets fixed soon.

  • Jquery in background task JavaScript runtime error: 'window' is undefined

How do we access the window variable in backgroundtasks ?
i need to use jquery and i get  JavaScript runtime error: 'window' is undefined

It looks like jQuery is not written to be used from a web worker--or else you need a variant that is. This is because the global context in a background task written in JavaScript is
    WorkerGlobalScope (see
    http://www.w3.org/TR/workers/#workerglobalscope) not window, so window
    isn't defined.
You might be able to work around a situation like this, depending on what is needed from
window. (I'm assuming jQuery is trying to initialize its UI libraries, in which case you probably won't be able to do that from a worker/background task. They can't do UI directly.)
If you need something from window, specifically, your running app, when it registers the background task, could also write the necessary values into the
Windows.Storage.ApplicationData.localSettings container as background tasks can access that at any time.
It could be possible, then, to write the necessary values from window
into local settings, then create a window object and populate it with those values before loading jQuery. It'd be a hack, but might get you where you need to be.
That said, because there are limitations on what you can do from a background task, and how long you can run, you might ask whether jQuery is really buying you anything in that context. I can't say, of course, but it's a reasonable question to ask before
    trying this kind of workaround.
