CS4 Photoshop issues
We are having an issue with PS on a new iMac 10.6, it refuses to initialize.
We have removed it, reinstalled over it, deleted preference settings, removed and reinstalled all Adobe Suite products completely and still we get ....
"Could not initialize PhotoShop because the file is locked. Use the Get Info command in the Finder to unlock the file".
UNLOCK what file, I am trying open PS not a file.
PS itself is not locked either.
What gives.

Odd indeed.
Out of the 5 new units we have 2 are working, although one did have the same issue with PS and somehow it works now.
Did go to the app on the HD, only one user "EVERYONE" was set to READ only so I set them to "READ/WRITE".
I then logged on as ADMIN and I opened PS no problem.
I added myself to the listing and tried to open PS same error.
Its a good thing there aren't any hammers around here.
Short of completely wiping and reloading the operating system I am out of ideas.

Dreamweaver CS4 strange issues happening
Suddenly when I do a find and replace and I do a carriage return in the replace portion of the find/replace window to make my edit go to an extra line, the carriage return occurs behind it on the page I'm editing. It doesn't add a <p> tag in the document, just kind of highlights what I have in the find window and each time I hit Enter the next instance of the what I'm trying to find gets highlighted.
Also, when I try to add <strong> tags to my document this appears on the page instead <strong>
What the hell?
I tried recreating my configuration folder (I'm on Windows Vista) but it still happens.

This may help!
Uninstall the Beta Version of Photoshop CS6 now and then restart your computer and see if that works.
Open the CS4 programs and see if that fixed the problem and it is all working as it should again.
It is worth a try!

CS4 Photoshop.exe file name changes
Has anyone had the CS4 Photoshop.exe file change names? I have had this happen on a couple of computers, one machine it happened twice. When CS4 is installed, the Photoshop file name is Photoshop.exe, at some point, the file name changes to PHOTOSHOP_CS4.EXE. I'm going to check with our sys admins to make sure they aren't doing some software push that might be changing it, but thought I would post here in case it was a known issue.
When you find the culprit you might let him know that different Photoshop versions always live in different Program Files subfolders.

Many and sincere thanks!!You need to have your computer looked at for upgrading and evaluate your third party hardware, software and files.
To fix your issue is too complicated and lengthy to go into all of it here, it will require the services of person very familiar and experienced with Mac's to first recover your data and then restore OS X back to a functional state which may or may not require new hardware/software installed.
You can hire the services of a local Mac computer support technician experienced in these matters.
Have them look at your Wifi security/speed, RAM amount, extra storage and computer backup proceedures in the process.

CS4 Photoshop - saving on NAS storage - open file won't save without renaming it.
open file won't save without renaming it. If you try to save a file that you have adjusted in CS4 Photoshop on a networked drive, it won't save it. If you rename it, sure. If you are working on the local drive it is not a problem.
By the way, we have 2 users in house. Both on Mac systems and both are using CS4 Creative Suite. One Mac is OSX 10.6.8 - the other is Mac OSX 10.8.3. The older Mac system does not have a problem.
Is this a Mac operating system problem? would upgrading to CS6 solve the issue for our Mac OSX 10.8 ?Try the forum for Adobe Acrobat.

Dreamweaver CS4 having issues after installing PS CS6 Beta
Hi All,
I'm having issues with Dreamweaver CS4 after installing Photoshop CS6 Beta. I'm getting the follwing erros when trying to open any html file (see attached image).
Once I click OK, the file will open, also now; any copy and paste commands will not work. Anyone else experiencing any problems with other apps after installing this beta version?

Uninstall the Beta Version of Photoshop CS6 now and then restart your computer and see if that works.

Hi gang, sorry to bother you but I'm having an issue and I've Googled and Youtube'd but still can't find an answer.
I'm on Mac Pro system using PS CS5 Ext. I'm working on a picture with about 15 layers. When I use a hotkey, for example if I click the "B" key to jump to the brush tool, PS will jump to that tool but immediately jump back to the previous tool - it won't stay there. It will stay there only if I use "shift + B" or if I manually click on the brush tool using my mouse/pen. Same thing if I click on the "S" key to jump to the clone tool or "H" for handtool etc..etc..etc.
I just noticed today that this happens when I use CS5 or CS4 on the same computer. However, if I open the file on a different computer using CS4, the issue is not there. At first I thought this was a Photoshop issue but now I'm not so sure - maybe it's a computer problem. I actually suspect this is operator error and that I've inadvertently changed a Photoshop setting but I can't figure out how to fix it : /

Anyway its all guessing. Other culprits could be plugins or extentions. Hmm... -
Can't view thumbnails in cs4 photoshop or bridge
Hi,
I can't view cs2 or DNG files thumbnails in CS4 photoshop or bridge. I'm using vista 64 home premium and recently had to reinstall cs4 on a new disc. It worked fine before on my old disc but now it doesn't.
I've searched through the various topics on this, I've only got one copy of the correct file (Camera Raw.8bi) in the correct folders, CS4 is shown in the bridge / edit / prefs / file type associations.
I can click on a file and it opens in bridge but I just can't see the thumbs.
One point though - the DNG convertor states that it needs camera raw v 7.1 or later so maybe that's why I can't read the dng file (even though I can open them) but it doesn't explain why I can't see the cr2 files.
Any ideas?

DougIf purging the cache doesn't work, the ACR plug-in (which is called Camera Raw.8bi) may be in the wrong place.
It should be in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
There is another plug-ins folder in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\ Adobe CS3 folder. If the ACR plug-in is in there, delete it. -
11.0.2 update causes cs4 Photoshop to crash on win 7 x32
when I start up photoshop, it complains with the following:

I run windows 7 x32 with aero turned on. problem is: cs4 photoshop was running fine until the 11.0.2 update.
And oh, I'm running on a dell lattitude 820 notebook with nvidia nvs 120 as the graphics card.
(it isn't going to be easy to update the display driver on notebooks)
anyone else with this problem? anyone has an idea of where to go next?

So a question (for Adobe) might be: What does Photoshop CS4 11.0.2 do that its predecessor didn't?
A workaround may be: Assuming you can't get into the Photoshop API to use the preferences dialog to disable the use of OpenGL features, there's a registry tweak you can download from Adobe to tell it not to try to use OpenGL. See this page:

Opening a PDF in CS4 Photoshop
When try to open a PDF in CS4 Photoshop, the program shuts down and closes. Any Ideas? I am using Microsoft 7 Windows.
Chris, I do not think I have installed the updates. This has been a problem since I started using this last year. I have just been working around it.
The crash report says:

Then it says...

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
The button says Close program.
The PDF's are from all kinds of places. some of them are PDF's that I have created myself.
Mylenium, What kind of security tool? My boss/tech guy installed the software. I have really had alot of problems. Initally he upgraded me to Vista, then to Microsoft 7. -
Why does my cs4 photoshop keep unexpectantly crashing?
I'm having real problems with my Cs4 Photoshop (version 11.0.2).
Everytime I attempt to open a file the program unexpectedly quits.
This also happens often when I try to save files and also sometimes happens randomly while using photoshop, please help!

this exception typically has one of two causes: either there’s a bug in Photoshop 11.0.2 (or in one of your installed plug-ins), or there’s a problem with your RAM. Since Adobe no longer updates Creative Suite 4, there’s not much that can be done about it if it’s due to a Photoshop bug. Do you have any third-party Photoshop plug-ins installed? If so, you could try disabling those to see if that makes a difference — if it does, then go through a process of elimination to determine which plug-in is at fault. If you have no third-party plug-ins installed, then you can try running your MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test to see if it can detect a problem with your RAM. -
I have CS4 Photoshop on my iMac with Mavericks. I am going to upgrade to Yosemite, and don't think it is compatible with CS4. Do I get the full Photoshop CC version for $9.99 a month, or do I need to buy any additional things?
Thanks, I was thinking so. I installed my CS4 from a CD in 2008, and it looks like Adobe has taken another approach to selling their products. I'll be downloading CC Photoshop a little later today.

I'm doing a transfer from one macbook pro to another. I have CS4 Photoshop Extended. When I go to open it on my new computer it says error 150:30.
Don't try transferring Adobe software. It rarely works and usually breaks the activation mechanism (150:30 error).
Uninstall, run the Cleaner tool then re-install from scratch.
