CS4: Subtitles on BluRay. Troubles

I'm currently making the BluRay version of our movie. I did the DVD Version with DVD Studio Pro.
So I basically reformatted the menus and subtitles to be compatible with Encore.
The problem is when I want to build the BluRay: It' just try to find "silence.ac3" and "Balck PAL 1440x1080i MPEG-2..." files and then crashes. I removed all the stuff from the DVD until it contained only the main movie. Here it only builds the DVD when there no subtitles track.
If readd on subtitle stream it doesn't work again.
Why does it need these files, there are no menu or other stuff. Can anybody give me a hint ? The subtitles start well after the start of the movie and end well before the end of the timeline.
Subtitles are absolutely crucial for that project, since it is in Swiss German, and most of the rest of the world won't understand it.
I'm running Encore 4.0.1.048 on a MacBook Pro with 10.5.7. The video ad audio file were generated using Compressor.

The solution I have found is to add the subtitles in DVD StudioPro. There are two possibilities:
(1) controlclicking in the S1-track for adittion of one subtitle item;
(2) prepare a text file in STL (Spruce Technology) format and import all subtitles at once at their proper time slot.
In the preferences one can choose under colors the subtitle popup for the text coloring, similar in the text tab.

CS4 Master Collection - double trouble

I bought the CS4 Master Collection in 2009, I then installed it on my work station. Some months later I bought a laptop and then installed the sofware on that as well. After a while I was forced to re-format my work station that had the first innstallation on it, I then of course re-innstalled the Master Collectionon it. When I now try to open any Adobe application on the laptop I get stopped by a message saying I´have used the maximum amount of registrations (2) for this software. Well, I have NOT used more than two registrations so this is obvioulsy wrong. The other stationary machine is stored at a seperate location cause I am moving abroad, so now I can´t get to that either. What to do? This Adobe registration error is driving me mad! I payed big buck for the Master Collection and beacause of some technical error I can´t use it. Adobe has no number to call and the support is as we all know ZERO.

DW CS4 - Template/Child Saving Trouble

I'm really very new to DW, and so I'm learning as I go. I had a site with a bunch of templates, but it appeared that the pages were all created from other pages rather than from templates. I started playing with Templates, created a couple pages from them, but that never really worked out for me so I started creating pages from other pages.
The few that I did create from a template now won't save when I hit "save," instead, it tries to save the page as a template. To work around this I've started selecting "save as" and then saving over the file, or if I hit "save all" it just saves everything open. BUT why am I having this problem and how can I change it so that I don't have to work around the issue?
Should I start working more with templates, I've seen a few people in other posts recommend against it, but they were discussing older versions.

in the meantime I had a look at this "www.clark-eng.com" and it's source code. So on first glance I can't see anything flashy.
Could you create a new useful directory structure and then copy the "roving" pages into a corresponding oportuning sub-directory? From there the links among them ought to be possible to establish.

Can't see Remote data in Dreamweaver CS4

I have a site that I have had for years and recently changed from a real old version of Dreamweaver to Dreamweaver CS4. I had trouble getting my FTP to work so I used an external program to move the files. The files have been uploaded and the site is active on the Internet so I know there are there.
When I use Dreamweaver, the only thing I can see is the "/" that represents the root folder. All the site definitions say that it can connect to my server, it just does not show the files.
Any ideas?

Try toggling Passive and/or Secure FTP on/off.
Your web host might have changed upload requirements to improve security.
Another thing to check is your Anti-virus and Firewall settings. If they are too restrictive, DW may not have permission to connect to the remote server.

Can you use Adobe Illustrator CS4 Classroom in a book tutorials(on CD rom) without buying the software?

I recently purchased Adobe Illustrator Classroom In a book CS4, and am having trouble getting to the lessons through the CD-rom which came with the book. My question is do I need to purchase the Illustrator CS4 product to use the tutorials/lessons? I would REALLY appreciate some help, it's needed for a college credit for a design major. Thank you!!

There's the trial version that you can download from adoble.com. I think it's good for 30 days. Other than that, doesn't your school have a computer lab?
There's no way to open the files and work with them other than in a copy of Illustrator. You might be able to open them in inkscape (free) or Freehand (no longer available) but then what are you learning? Not Illustrator...
[edit] You should be able to get most of the lessons done in an older version of Illy though, which might be more affordable (if you can find them for sale)

Premiere Pro CS4 Export fails with Media Encoder CS4 "Encoding Failed"," Could Not Read From Source.

There has never been a history of Adobe CS3 installation on the brand new MAC Pro I am using prior to installing Master Collection CS4, despite other posts claiming that chief cause of this issue is a previous CS3, Beta or trial installations of previous versions. I simply had a straightforward installation of CS4 and have had trouble since day 1.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Master CS4 three times, two times with the action script cleaner for CS4. I tried changing Adobe Cache folder locations to alternative drives. I ran shift start many times to correct any inconsistencies and corrected for permissions using disk utilities repeatedly. All updates have been installed and I am still getting the same error when exporting my timeline to Media Encoder CS4, be it a large High Definition project or a small one consisting of few stills.
No matter what presets I chose, the job appears as one of the items in the render qeuee of Media Encoder CS4 and sits there with the status WAITING until i hit Start Queue. When I do, it still says WAITING under Status and at the bottom corner of the window it reads : Loading "project name.prproj" and after an average of about 6 minutes, a yellow caution sign appears. No render whatsoever takes place. When I click on the yellow caution sign, it reads a log of all errors in connection with each job, including the ones that have gone before it. Here is one:

I resolved the issue through a simple process of elimination. So simple in fact I wonder how I missed it. Since there has been no history of prior CS3 installation on this machine and every conceivable trick was applied to resolve the problem (refer to my original post earlier in the thread) ending in frustration, the problem had to reside in a factor or series of factors that were only present in this machine. Of the two remaining causes different in compare to other machines, I had to look into the possibility of any hardware and/or software conflicts. After all, this very same installation works perfectly fine on my colleague's Apple Macbook Pro and several Windows machines.
It turns out that I had installed Pro Tools on this machine that comes with all kinds of optional plug-ins in the so called ignition pack. One of these optional plug-ins is called IZOTOPE (three varieties include Spectron, Trash and another one that escapes my mind). They were all lite version licenses that would automatically pop up on their own when you would start a program where they had been residing. One such program where an association existed was indeed the Premiere. An annoying dialogue box directing you to buy the full version when you would start the premiere would refuse to go away. Sometimes it would even start on its own culminating in a a permanent dialogue box.
The cause of the problem was right before my eyes and I had overlooked it. Once uninstalled using IZOTOPE clean uninstaller on step 4, the problem was resolved. Projects are now loading very fast into the AME and encoding begins in earnest. I have never had any issues ever since.
Long story short, if you have any plug-ins specially the ones that are loading upon the start of any program or the ones that reside inside the premiere or the ones that start on their own independently, they could be one of the highly probable causes of this error. I have seen other similar posts complaining of plug in folders inside premiere that needed to be moved to resolve the issue for instance the ones that needed to be moved to AE folders. If you are a plug-in admirer, I would suggest to look into them seriously.
On the side note, many combination and causes may lead to the same error. I am not claiming that this is the solution for everyone.
It must also be noted that I applied the trick of creating a shortcut of Premiere (and naming it exactly as such) and dropped it into the Adobe Dynamic LInk folder (even though this was suggested for windows)and have changed the adobe Cache locations to an alternative folder on a separate drive. I haven't been able to establish conclusively if the latter steps are also essential in fixing the error on MAC but I can confirm that since the latter steps were taken before the uninstalling of Izotope plug-ins and i still had issues, probably uninstalling those plug ins or finding a way to move them to a place where they don't interfere (if you absolutely need to keep them) is the one essential step that solved the problem.

Free Transform in Illustrator CS4

Hello,
I'm using CS4 and am having trouble with the free distort tool.
I didn't even know it existed until I googled it and have always instead pasted what I wanted into PS, rasterized it, distorted it, then pasted it back into illustrator and traced it with the new perspective.
I'm trying to follow this tutorial-

However, when I select my object(s), then use the free transform, all it does it change the whole size as if i'm using the resize tool.
I tried selecting all of the objects as individuals, putting them in a group, and even making the whole thing into (1) large compound path and it's still doing the same thing every time.
Holding the various keys it mentions do nothing except change the point at which the resize is occuring (from lower right to center and so on)
Using the free distort tool under effects does not change where my anchor points are. Ideally, I'd like to move those as well while free transforming, though perhaps I'm just wishing the program could do more than it can?
Hopefully someone can help me do what I want.

Okay, so by holding the shift/ctrl/alt option, I was able to start seeing perspective distorting with your help. However it always moves (2) handles (right or left) depending on which side I'm on. Am I correct in assuming that that's just the way that tool works unless I use free distort in effects? I want a literal FREE transformation like in PS to achieve the look as I've shown it, and have all of my anchor points move as well.

Troubleshoot synchronization problems in Dreamweaver CS4

I am now having problems linking files; ie PDFs on my site in Dreamweaver CS4
I found this trouble shooting guide and followed both suggestions, but neither is working for me, any suggestions?

How to change control panel options and shortcuts in CS4

I'm trying to customize the control panel in CS4 and am having trouble with a couple of options:
- I've turned on distribute options but it won't display (only the align options will)
- Where do I find/change the shortcut for "Highlight the first option in the Control panel" (currently cmd 6)

CS4 startup failure caused by MCmpgACodec.vca

Premiere CS4 worked fine until a couple of months ago then it suddenly started to crash on startup. I recently found out that removing the latest MCmpgACodec.vca file in Premieres MediaIO/Codecs directory made Premiere launch again, but now it tries to get this codec re-installed all the time. I found a 2007 version of the codec used in CS3 (the CS4 version causing the trouble is from september 2010) and that seems to work somewhat better though the codec installer is triggered still. So it's not really solved with that, though I have CS4 more or less running again.
Anybody any ideas why this codec causes me so much trouble and what can be done about it?
(I work on a Win7 64bits platform)

If you’re getting an error on a blue screen it could be caused by software or drivers. Try to start the computer in safe mode with command prompt by tapping F8 at startup. If you are able to load command prompt run the following command SFC /scannow. This should check the system for any errors and repair them if it can.
If you are not able to get into command prompt, you can create repair disks. Once you create the disks, you should be able to run the disk from start up. They should correct any errors that you’re having.

Cs4 - Previewing

Hi Everyone just installed my shinny new Cs4 and am having trouble with an edit.
My project is a 720p at 35 f/ps - In cs3 I would hit endter and it would preview it and the play it once it was cached. I could then also close the project and reopen it and all would still be cache and ready to play.
In cs4 it just cant seem to preview it no matter what, if it does preview it it still doesnt play smooth and if I close the project and reopen the preview is gone.
I doubt its my machine as I have a new i7 intel with 12 giggs of ram.
Any help woul dgreatly be appriciated.

Would not say that FCP is flawless but it is cacheing and I can preview my footage and helps me sync my footage....if I had a choice I'd use premier just cause I like the way it handles image sequences.....or should I say the way it used to handle image sequences. Im not bashing preiemer just wish there were solutions ...this bug looks like its been around for a year or more... Adobe say they know about it too.... How about fixing it?
As you know deadlines are tight and its hard to justify the time I have been spending on this issue.

Setting up Acrobat 9 Pro in Windows 7

Old computer (XP) croaked, new computer has Windows 7.
I installed CS4 and am having trouble getting Acrobat to work. I can export from InDesign to PDF, but sometimes I need to print to PDF (e.g., when I need to generate color separations), which I can't do at all. I get the message "downloading procset" and ID locks up and I have to force quit. I've waited several minutes (using a simple one-page document with no photos or large graphics) and it won't respond.
I also can't figure out how to print to file -- I want to create a PS file so I can distill it. I know I need to install a PS "printer," but since my old PC is kaput, I don't know what PS printer was installed on it, and anyway it probably wouldn't work with Windows 7. I've got a Xerox color laser printer with real PS, and tried installing that driver to print to file, but either the driver doesn't work or I installed it wrong. (I haven't tried to install it as a real printer yet.)
Any suggestions?

Also, when you have it set up, just print to the Adobe PDF printer (it is a PS printer) and you should have the PDF created automatically (AcroTray takes care of the Distiller part for automatic PDF creation). Do not change to print to print to file unless you do it for testing purposes.

Why is En start transcoding if it just told me that I do not need to?

have HiDef footage that I edited and exported from Premiere CS3 to Encore CS4 using the BluRay High preset.
NTSC, 1440x1080, 23.976 [fps], Progressive
PCM Audio, 48 kHz, Stereo
VBR, 2 Pass, Target 20.00, Max 25.00 [Mbps]
Premiere asked me to save the file and it exported the file as .m4v for video and .wav for audio. Once AP finished transcoding it opened the Encore. Both files are shown untranscoded under the BR Transcode Status column. I transcoded the .wav file, but when I try to transcoded the .m4v file I get the following message:
The file you about to transcode is already legal for Blue-ray. Transcoding will affect its quality.
I click cancel in the dialog, but when I try to build a blue-ray folder Encore starts building with transcoding the .m4v file.
Why is En start transcoding if it just told me that I do not need to? Is there a setting I am missing?

Are you sure it's transcoding the .m4v? I have on numerous occasions had Encore CS4 start to transcode the audio that I had just finished transcoding. I seem to have a bug whereby Encore 'forgets' it's audio transcodes, and has to redo them. Could this be happening to you as well?

Text in certain font, once there, is now gone.

I need help!
I created a design concept, with paragraph styles, last week using CS4 and had no trouble at all.
I opened the file today and every paragraph that used the font Hoefler Text Black has disappeared.
The text is still there and the hidden characters of the spaces are still visible (as you can see in the screen shot I attached). When I change the paragraph's style to another font, the text reappears.
The other variations of Hoefler Text also still work. I can't figure out why this one font has stopped working.

If those are spaces in that screen shot, that's some pretty strange text, and why is the pilcrow in the middle of the last line?
Does the font work in a new doc? Does it clear up if you export that documetn to .inx, open that and save as a new .indd?
How about if you delete all Adobefnt**.lst files where ** is a number?

Halo around guys head in Illustrator. He's not an angel.

I'm trying to use a photo cut-out (with paths) in Illustrator CS4 from PS CS4 and am having trouble.
The photo I'm attempting to export is a bust and, when I pull the .eps into Illustrator, I've got a bit of white that shows around the gentlemans hair. This wouldn't be an issue if the background were white ... but the photo needs to overlap a red slice in a pie chart. So he looks like he's got a halo. What am I doing wrong?
Is there a setting in Illustrator I'm missing that could make the white transparent? I don't want to make the cut-out a screen bc then half of his face would turn redish due to the pie chart overlap.
In PS: I've got all my paths drawn. I've set the device pixels on the clipping path to '0'. My 'Make Selection' has a rendering feather radius of '0', anti-aliased.
Should I be saving to a format other than .eps? Should I be exporting (I know it would need to be more than the 'export paths to illustrator option - I need the image AND the path)? Should I be pulling it into Illustrator in a different way???
Any ideas on what I could change to make this work? I've been at this all darn day and I'm starting to lose my mind.

Sorry, Steve, yes, I meant the Device pixels were blank. My mistake. I've just been so frustrated I was flipping back and forth too quickly. My typo.
I tried saving as a PSD in photoshop and placing that .psd file in Illustrator. It seems to work -for now- but it has more than doubled the file size of the illustrator document making my machine run soooo sloooooowwww. Is there something I can do?
