CS5 SDK + AME CS4 = Crash from bad memorySuite
Hi all,
I compiled the CS5 SDK_Exporter example and only changed one thing:
1: the build from x64 to x86 (because I'm on Win7 32bit with CS4 Production Premium)
BTW the enviroment variable $(PREMSDKBUILDPATH) is set to points to
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS4\Plug-ins\Common\SDK
Then I started to debug the debug|x86 build and invoked it by running AME by setting the Debugging->Command argument to
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS4\Adobe Media Encoder.exe
When I run it, add a video and then change the exporter to "SDK File" it then calls the exSDKBeginInstance( )
prMALError exSDKBeginInstance (
exportStdParms *stdParmsP,
exExporterInstanceRec *instanceRecP)
prMALError result = malNoError;
SPErr spError = kSPNoError;
ExportSettings *mySettings;
PrSDKMemoryManagerSuite *memorySuite;
int exportSettingsSize = sizeof(ExportSettings);
SPBasicSuite *spBasic = stdParmsP->getSPBasicSuite();
if (spBasic != NULL)
spError = spBasic->AcquireSuite(
kPrSDKMemoryManagerSuite,
kPrSDKMemoryManagerSuiteVersion,
const_cast<const void**>(reinterpret_cast<void**>(&memorySuite))); <<<<<<------ THIS memoryStuite isn't set
>>>>> THUS THE NEXT LINE CRASHES BECAUSE memorySuite==0
mySettings = reinterpret_cast<ExportSettings *>(memorySuite->NewPtrClear(exportSettingsSize));
Why is using the CS5 headers breaking the CS4 applications?
Hi Zac, et al.
I modified the API call to call "kPrSDKMemoryManagerSuiteVersion2" instead of "kPrSDKMemoryManagerSuiteVersion" when using SDK CS5 and it still errored.
I also tried using "kPrSDKMemoryManagerSuiteVersion1" (which started in the CS3) using the CS4 SDK and it didn't work either.
I couldn't see in the headers that the API to the MemorySuite had changed so I'm at a loss as to why I couldn't use v2 with the CS5 SDK or v1 with the CS4 SDK on AME CS4.
CS4 with it's (native) v2 MemorySuite is running fine.

Hi I have been useing AME CS4 along with PPro and the rest of the Production Premium suite for some time now. All of which are installed on a windows machine running Vista 64bit with Matrox Axio LE hardware.
Yesterday AME was working fine and today when I ran the application it crashes on the startup. Nothing has changed since the day before so I’m confused as to what has happened.
I have tried re-installing the program twice along with Encore CS4 since I cannot install AME alone but I still encounter the same problem at startup.
The error reads.
Any help is appreciated. I’m reading other posts to find possible solutions.
Thanks!!!CS5 and later had better watch folder management than CS4.
I don't know how (or if) a watch folder was created in your case, but trashing your preferences may be the way to delete it. Try launching AME with the Alt key held down -- hopefully that will reset your prefs. If it doesn't, you'll have to manually find the prefs file and delete it. For CS5+ on Windows 7, it's here:
C:\Users\Jeff Bellune\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\5.5\AMEPrefs.xml
YMMV. There's also a Watch Folder Info.xml in that folder in CS5.5, so you may want to look for and delete a similar file before you trash your prefs.

I've been using AME CS4 (4.2.0.006) with Premiere Pro CS4 onWindows XP for years, but now it always crashes during launch: "AppName: adobe media encoder.exe AppVer: 4.2.0.0 ModName: watchfolder.dll ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00011f03"). I de-installed and re-installed Premiere with no result. Downloaded latest AME CS4 version. Didn't move watchfolder.dll. Deleted any "AMEPrefs.xml"-file. Any ideas?
Possibly the same problem as this?

Premiere CS4 Crashes From Photoshop?
Hi,
I have a few photoshop files in my Premiere Pro CS4 timeline. If I open the photoshop file from Premiere, and then change and save the file in Photoshop, Premiere Pro will become unresponsive ("Not Responding", I'm on Windows 7), and I'll have to force quit Premiere.
Is there a way to make it stop crashing? If it's any help, I've already figured out that it will only crash if the file is in the timeline.
Thanks,

Encore CS4 crashes from Dynamic Link
I can open Encore fine but its when I do Dynamic Link from Premiere to Encore that it crashes and asks me to report the problem. This is the first of me having this problem has we havent used the feature very much. Thanks for any help.
Though written for NLE work, most of the tips in this ARTICLE hold true for an authoring session too. Might be something useful in it.
Good luck, and hope that something helps,

BOOST ERRORS porting cs4 to cs5 , compiling plugin with cs5 sdk
i have a project that is working fine with adobe indesign CS4 and now when im trying to build it with cs 5 , i got this error
boost::move ambigous call to overloaded function in CS5 sdk file file "any_regular.hpp"
im using VS2008 and boost version 1.49 in my project, i gues its compatability issue of boost with CS5 SdkPectora:
Check the C++/Preprocessor/Preprocessing Definitions field in your Project Properties dialog. Make sure that your Debug version has a "DEBUG" definition placed in there, and that your release version has an "NDEBUG" definition placed in there someplace. My guess is that either you left one of them out, or that you have the DEBUG definition in your release properties. Other possibilities are a failure to separate definitions properly or misspelling.
HTH!
P.S. I am assuming that you are working with VS8 on a Windows box. This information should be included in your next submission just to make sure we are all working from the same starting point. -
Bad day and PS CS4 crashes on opening files now.
I was working with an FTP tool from Network Solutions today and it played havoc with my desktop PC (Win 7 32 bit). Basically, it turned EVERY shortcut on my system into an IE link. I was unable to do a system restore to undo the change (because files it needed to open were trying to open with IE instead of Windows Explorer). Long story short; I found a solution and got my shortcuts back, but only after clearing my entire Start Menu and taskbar. I've checked Acrobat, DW, FW, Flash, Illustrator and SoundBooth. They all work as before, but I can't get PS to run now. If I double click a picture it opens and as soon as the picture opens, it goes grey and I get a generic "Photoshop has stopped working" message and the only option is to close it. Same thing if I open PS and then try to open a picture or create a new one. As soon as the image is in the UI it crashes.
Here's the hard part. Thanks to a serious legal problem with my ex wife, I do not have my Windows 7 DVD or my CS4 Install DVDs so I can't repair this or replace it.
Any help would be appreciated, even if it's to let me know I'm S.O.L."All Righty Then" as Ace Ventura quipped.
I uninstalled Photoshop CS4 (left the rest of the Suite installed), and I downloaded CS5.1 Extended to use until I get the CS4 Master Collection DVDs to replace my other set.
The conclusion I reached is this;
Something in Windows 7 is totally f'ed up on this machine and it's something that Windows System File Checker nor about half a dozen registry tools can find.
I installed CS5.1, selected use as trial, and launched it. it took a bit to cache things up and after a minute or so I was in the UI. I clicked File and New. The default windows opened and I clicked OK.
It froze for a second and crashed like CS4 had been doing.
I did a system restore to a point about two weeks ago before the whole thing started, and ran it. It ran OK and I opened CS5.1 again (CS4 is gone).
File>>New click OK and it crashed again.
Now it looks like I'll be scrubbing the entire HD reformatting and reinstalling Win 7 along with CS4. Unfortunately I lose Office 2007, Roxio Creator 2010, and Britannica 2010, but hey, if I can keep selling web designs I can afford to replace those. -
After Effects CS5 (and 5.5) Crash
Hi guys,
I can't seem to figure out a remedy for the cause of this crash for the life of me, despite trying the solutions I've found through out the forums, knowledgebase, and elsewhere...
System specs:
Dell Precision M6600, 24GB RAM, Core i7-2820QM, nVidia Quadro 4000M (w/ Optimus enabled) - Windows 7 x64, fresh installation with latest updates
Basically I do a fresh install of AE 10 -> Launch it and sniffer_gpu.exe crashes (faulting module: igd10umd64.dll) -> AE opens -> try to open a project, AE crashes (faulting module: ntdll.dll)
Update to 10.0.2.4, still does the same thing. Upgrade to CS5.5 trial, does the same thing.
Tried different versions of the Intel HD graphics driver (as indicated by the sniffer_gpu.exe crash), no avail, reverted to Dell's latest recommended. Also did the same for the nVidia driver.
Tried removing AE_opengl.aex (or something), tried disabling the already disabled "use opengl" for previews, tried renaming sniffer_gpu.exe to prevent it from launching, tried deleting the appdata / prefs, no avail.
Tried the suggestings in Adobe's KB about troubleshooting OpenGL issues...
Tried disabling Optimus from the BIOS, no help and not ideal for obvious reasons. Also tried setting the default GPU from Auto to the nVidia one.
Finally reverted back to AE CS4 and it runs beautifully without problems - but I want to use CS5 because I bought it as part of the Master Collection Suite
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the GPU detection on an Optimus chipset SPECIFICALLY with AE CS5. Premiere and Photoshop (CS5, 64-bit) detect my GPU correctly and run with the the nVidia card. In AE CS5, after sniffer_gpu.exe crashes and I get into the program, the preview preferences show that no video card is installed.
My understanding is that somehow, sniffer_gpu.exe isn't doing its job properly. It could also be that nVidia Optimus doesn't have the proper rules (nvidia problem) or that the Intel drivers aren't handing off to the nVidia drivers properly, but I am out of ideas and need some suggestions... (Or perhaps Adobe should change their GPU detection method for AE because it sucks - why would photoshop detect it but AE doesn't?)
Anyways, sorry for the frustration...I've been thinking about this since I saw it yesterday, but I honestly have no idea. Sounds more like a time-out issue and a rather specific one only affecting 64bit, as obviously your 32bit CS4 works...

CS5 SDK Error compiling Adobe examples.
Hi,
I downloaded the trial version of Illustrator CS5 and the CS5 SDK to be able to adapt my plugins.
These plugins are for CS4.
Each time I try to compile one of the samples provided in the CS5 SDK, I have the same error
error: extra qualification 'AIPlatformFileDlgOpts::' on member 'AIPlatformFileDlgOpts'
Do you Know what to modify to avoid this error.
I use XCode 3.2.2 and MacOS.
Please help me.
JLG.I just had the very same problem. I changed the compiler from GCC 4.2 to GCC 4.0 in the project settings. That did the trick.

Adobe Media Encoder CS4 crash on startup
Hello,
I've been using and troubleshooting with the help of Adobe forums for quite a few years now (thank you to everyone), but I don't recall actually ever posting anything, as of yet.
Problem: Adobe Media Encoder was working fine yesterday and today it continually crashes on startup. I have accessed it alone through Start menu and also tried exporting a sequence from Premiere Pro as well as After Effects. AME crashes every single time. I'm not sure what is going on. I cannot provide the specs as I'm on a work computer (which I think should be scrapped for junk) and it's a dodgy little machine. Anybody else having problems with AME CS4?
I've also attached two screen shots. It's of the splash screen when it crashes and the error report.
Thanks,
nkOk so here's what happened to me: AME gave me the error "AME stopped working" It was working just fine the day before. Here is a list in sequence of what I did to try to resolve this issue. Reboot program, reboot computer, moved the project to its own Terabyte hard drive to make sure I had enough room to create the temp folders it needed when AME exports, Uninstalled all of the CS4 create suite then reinstalled and downloaded the 834MB update file, Prayed really hard, search forums, Cried out to God, came across this thread but it didn't sound right that all I had to do was delete a one KB xml file. But I started down that path anyway. c:\Users\'your account'\appdata\roaming\adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\ is a file called 'Watch Folder Info.xml' Im running Windows 7 and I had to show hidden folders http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial151.html once I could see the folders I had to take control of them. I thought I was the system admin but it didn't appear that way so I had to take ownership of the file http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-me nu-in-vista/ I finally got in and deleted the file and now it is working. It automatically created another watchfolder.xml but its still working. I think this is ridiculous that Adobe has this issue. It seems every 4 months or so PP has this huge issue that stops all my work. If wish I could find something more reliable but I have invested to many years into PP. I'm stuck.

In ID CS5 SDK, where are those Preflight and Package go?
In ID CS5, there are no longer "IPreflightSrcData.h", "IS4SPPackage.h", etc, How am I going to DoPreflight(), SetHiddenLayersFlag(false), etc? Anyone knew?
Moreover, when I do Package on CS5 doc with missing font and links by using ID CS5 interface from File->Package, it always crash the InDesign CS5.I did not sleep last night until 3:00 am. It is painful when something did not get solved..
Now I can programatically get all the missing fonts, missing links, etc and also actually do the 'Packaging" on CS5 MAc/Windows. I get the package report, physical packages, etc. Happy with porting last years code to ID CS5 plug-ins. Ha-ha-ha-ha!
By the way, ID CS5 SDK sample plug-in PreflightRule and PreflightRuleUI still do not work on my ID CS5 windows. Moreover, ID document with missing fonts and links can not be packaged by File->Package from ID CS5 menu, it results in ID CS5 crash. Not sure why not just handle the exception and jump out instead of 'crash the whole ID CS5"????
I hope that sample PreflightRuleUI can work properly next..... -
[OSX]Premiere Pro CS4 crashing on start
Hello,
I'm working for a training center and we got to use Premiere Pro CS4 for trainees. I'm encountering a problem on a fresh install by our techie of Premiere Pro and Soundbooth (part of the company's Master Collection) on our Leopard machine.
I get in both software an error about a "Registry 283-cpp" thingy :
Premiere Pro CS4: [Ironside/4.0/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../../Src/DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]
Soundbooth CS4: [/Gogo/main/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../../Src/DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]
Seems there's a problem. I get this error report from Mac OS:

Did anyone encounter this problem? How could it be solved? We need it for yesterday . Otherwise we'll have to use FCP
Thanks by advance,
Chloé DesoutterHaving this same problem crashes with DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283
On OSX 10.5.8
Works fine with another user on the same machine so must be conflicting with something, but I can't find what.
Same error with Premiere CS4 and CS5. Other CS4 apps run fine. Any ideas? -
CS4 Crash, Properties panel unresponsive
Recently I had issue with Flash CS4 crashing repeatedly. Also
the application would have trouble using the text tool to create
TextFields it would not update the properties panel (Ctrl+F3) when
switching between field types (dynamic, static and input). Also the
properties panel would not update when selecting other items in the
FLA file and just remain as the TextField details.
A co-worker found that the issue was with the fonts on our
systems. It appears some where corrupt and this was wreaking havoc
with Flash CS4. We tried turning off the preview but that did not
work. What did work was removing the corrupt fonts on our systems.
First we had to find out which fonts were corrupt which can
be done with FontAgentPro from Insider Software
(www.insidersoftware.com). (Compatible with Mac OSX, XP and Vista)
We installed the trial and tried to run an import which told
us which fonts were corrupt. Once we knew which fonts were corrupt
we just deleted/removed them from our Font folder. Note
FontAgentPro crashed when we deleted/removed the fonts with it
open; so we had to make a list of the fonts and close FontAgentPro.
Once the bad fonts were gone we were able to open and run
Flash CS4 without it crashing or the properties panel from hanging
or becoming unresponsive.
We hope this helps other who are experiencing similar issues.
Note:
On fresh Vista install Calibri, Cambria and Constantia fonts
were all seen as corrupt. Not sure if this happened due to font
installs we made, vista install bad (which runs very stable) or if
Vista fonts are a different creature than previous window OT and
TTF fonts.Unfortunately Adobe is notorious for not following Windows
standard APIs. It
is unlikely they will fix the issue anytime soon. -
I'm having trouble with Premiere Pro versions CS3 and CS4 crashing and am not sure why. The problem usually occurs after a few minutes of the program being opened or when we either try to scrub through the timeline or try to capture. It's very frustrating. The machine came installed with CS4 and we have tried to remove and then re-install. We have also tried removing and adding CS3 and have had similar results. Recently we purchased a school license for CS5 although for Premiere we had to install the CS4 version and still have gotten the same results. This was working fine for quite sometime and I can't come up with a resolution to what is causing the problem. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions on what to look into correct the problem? We are on an XP computer.

How to use ScriptList class in Indesign CS5 SDK?
Hi,
Can anyone help to this concern??...
I couldn't use ScriptList class in CS5 SDK, as we use in Indesign CS4. It throws the following error when I build my plug-in.
Error 1 error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "__declspec(dllimport) struct adobe::version_1::new_delete_t const adobe::version_1::local_new_delete_g" (__imp_?local_new_delete_g@version_1@adobe@@3Unew_delete_t@12@B)
Here follows the Code I used to apply script label to a pageItem.
ErrorCode err=kFailure;
InterfacePtr<IScript> iScript(argPageItemUIDRef, UseDefaultIID());
ScriptList myScriptList; // including this class throws the above error.
myScriptList.push_back(iScript);
IScriptLabel::ScriptLabelValue myTagValue(argLabel);
InterfacePtr<IScriptManager>scriptMgr(Utils<IScriptUtils>()->QueryScriptManager(kScriptTa gMgrBoss));
err=Utils<IScriptUtils>()->SetScriptingTag(myScriptList,scriptMgr->QueryDefaultEngine()->GetRequestContext(),myTagValue);
return err;
