CS6: AIR(runtime embedded) creates a lot of files instead of one exe file

I want to package all necessary sources for my application in one exe file (windows 7 system).
In Flash Professional CS6 I choosed: File->Public Settings
Target: AIR 3.4 for Desktop
AIR Settings: Output as: Application with runtime embedded
Window style: Syste Chrome
Render mode: Auto
Profiles Desktop / Extended Desktop
Then I pressed publish. I got the message "Application with runtime embedded has been created".
What I want: One exe file without dependence to other files/directories
What I got is a directory structure like this:
Untitled-1.app
  Adobe AIR
  META-INF
  mimetype
  Untitled-1.exe
  Untitled-1.swf
In that directory my Untitled-1.exe starts without problems.
But if I copy the exe (and ONLY the exe) to another directory
and try to start it I get the message that AIR wasn't found.
So my assumption was right that not all necassary files were packaged.
How can I package all necassary files/directories in one exe?

Hi,
This is a windows -OS limitation. The embedded application .app package created on Win will appear as Folder directory.
Untitled-1.app
  Adobe AIR
  META-INF
  mimetype
  Untitled-1.exe
  Untitled-1.swf
If you look, Adobe AIR contains the AIR runtime needed to run the .exe application. Hence, you would need to copy the entire content of the Untitled.app folder on Win.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

  • Mobile App Packaged as Desktop (with air runtime)???

Okay, so I have this application that is basically the ubiqutous page turning component you can find online, but modified for mobile.  It's for kid's storybooks.  It's a mobile flex application in FlashBuilder 4.6.  When I export release build for my mobile project, I see an option for desktop .air packaging rather than mobile.  Works and looks great....but you can't sell a .air file on Mac App Store.  I want to bundle the air runtime to create a  .app, which hopefully I can get on the app store.  However, this option is not available in a mobile project.  I've tried figuring it out via commandline...
    java -jar adt.jar -package -keystore ./jamesabrannan_cert_development.p12 -storetype pkcs12 -target bundle ShortBook.app ShortBook-app.xml ShortBook.swf
but that results in.... no such file /Users/jamesabrannan/Documents/test/ShortBook.app
So then I saw that perhaps some of the google results might be wrong/outdated and I was actually simply supposed to indicate the folder the app was to be created in, okay, so....
    java -jar adt.jar -package -keystore ./jamesabrannan_cert_development.p12 -storetype pkcs12 -target bundle . ShortBook-app.xml ShortBook.swf
    But that results in....
Files "/Users/jamesabrannan/Documents/test/ShortBook-app.xml" and "/Users/jamesabrannan/Documents/test/ShortBook-app.xml" have conflicting package paths: /Users/jamesabrannan/Documents/test/ShortBook-app.xml
What I want to do is take my mobile application and package it with the OS X runtime for adobe air.  It must be possible, but I'll be darned if I can figure it out.  Looks like I have AIR 2.6, or whatever is standard in FlashBuilder 4.6
I'm trying to avoid creating a desktop app, adding the mobile framework, and then transfering my code to it.
Any help would be appreciated.  This would be a great boon, as some tablet apps would be totally applicable - with a few slight modifications - on a desktop.

If you're using the MAX preview release then make sure both the device and your PC are on the same network and connected.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 8 Can't finish installing Air Runtime Process, and Can't open New Project!

    Hey guys,
I'm having some major issues installing PE8.  I can open the installer screen fine, and it installs fine until it gets to installing the Air Runtime Process.  I have left it downloading that one process for about 5 hours, and i'm not exaggerating.  Finnally, I get too mad waiting for it to finish that I exit out of the installation process.  Even though the installation was never fully finished, for some reason I do have a Desktop icon for PE8.  I click on that and it opens the splash screen with the buttons "New project", "Open Project", and "Organize".  When I try to open "New Project" it begins loading the files that it needs to to open it.  When it gets to loading the Windows Media file, it freezes and then crashes.
I have uninstalled the PE8 and reinstalled it about 5 times now.  I have also used the Windows Cleanup program to clean these corrupted files out of my system before reinstalling.  I have called in twice now to the technical support and they haven't helped me one ounce.  Any answers would be appreciated!  Thanks
    Thanks Again,
    Spencer

  • Flash CS6 does not not create an .app file when I Output as application with runtime embedded

I am attempting to create an application with runtime embedded, but the process keeps failing without throwing an error. Specifically: in Air Settings, I select Output as: Application with runtime embedded. When I build it this way, Flash tells me that it's created Telepath Tactics - Steam.app...
...but no .app file ever actually appears in the folder:
This happens regardless of what I include in the Library Path, and regardless of the Default Linkage settings. (When I tell it to Output as: Windows installer, by contrast, the appropriate exe file appears without a problem.)
    I'm using Flash Professional CS6 v. 12.0.0.481 on Windows 7, 64-bit.

I should note that this only occurs on certain windows machines. I am still waiting to hear which ones.
I personally do not experience this so I have to rely on Client feedback.
On my machine it works fine without Flash installed.

  • Windows publish AIR with runtime embedded outputting .app

When attempting to publish an AIR app set to runtime embedded on Windows, the output target has the .app extension. Same outcome on a true Windows machine as well as Windows running in VMWare.. This seems to go against the documentation Adobe AIR * Packaging a captive runtime bundle for desktop computers "The bundle produced is a self-contained folder of application files on Windows and an .app bundle on Mac OS." Flash CC build 14.0.0.110

The Docs are misleading because they refer to the old WIndows-model (Pre 8) where you would have a exe as runtime bundle, whereas since windows 8 .app/.appx is the format that the windows store expects. If you just want publish targeting exe you have to check "windows Installation program" and make sure that any included/loadied files are included at the bottom. Then AIR will package all the necessary files in one .exe file and create the folder structure during install.

  • My mac book air has a virus which is creating a lot of issues...how do i get rid of it? is there a free software to detect it and remove it?

my mac book air has a virus which is creating a lot of issues...how do i get rid of it? is there a free software to detect it and remove it?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

will the adobe AIR runtime work on embedded XP? anyone have
    experience with this?

It will work fine on XP. When you download it if you want to try the new Orange Firefox Button(only shown by default in Vista and 7) right click on toolbar space and uncheck Menu Bar. You can toggle between the two.

  • Numerous problems with the Adobe AIR runtime for Android

I created a app on the platform Adobe AIR for Android, which requires for AIR. The app is very popular in the Android Market, but many users complain of problems with the installation of Adobe Air runtime.
For example these phones users: LGE LG-P698, LG Pecan, HTC Wildfire. But judging by the fact that users have access to the installation of Air, their phones are compatible with it.
Tell me how do I solve the problem?
In addition, I have a few questions:
    1. Decides whether the problem of export application with embedded AIR runtime?
    2. I build my apps with the help of ADT. How in this case to make embeding AIR runtime?
    3. Is it possible to prompt the user to download and install older versions of AIR? Where to find its?
I hope to help, because the problem is global.

    Hi Astraport,
I think you should embed the air runtime in your application,
Some time ago I've written a step by step guide, have a look at this post:

  • AIR runtime Memory Leak?

    Hi,
I have an app developed with AIR 3.7 for iOS (iPad)
The app gets very sluggish after a while, eventually crashes.
I've been -very- careful to pool objects where possible and cleanup / nullify all objects once they're not needed any more.
Profiling the app in Scout returns a pretty stable memory profile (the peaks and the lows translate very well to what's happening on screen)
Simultenously profiling the app using XCode's Instruments, shows me that the memory consumption off the app constantly rises up to the point the systems spends more time throwing memory warning than anything else.
Here are screenshots of both profilers: they show as3 memory usage being pretty stable, on the app level, memory keeps rising...
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/608333/AIR_memory_leak.zip
If AS3 is not leaking any memory (according to scout), but the app is (according to Instruments), would I be right assuming there's a memory leak in the AIR-runtime itself?
    thanks for your feedback!
    bart.

ok, lots of trial and error has showed me the following:
There are two issues when loading assets using the Loader Class with its LoaderContext set to ImageDecodingPolicy.ON_LOAD.
These issues typically arise in a magazine-like app, where many images are loaded and unloaded continously.
    Issue 1:
When initializing a load() on a Loader class with LoaderContext to ImageDecodingPolicy.ON_LOAD, all image decoding seems to be queued in a seperate thread. With several large images, especially on mobile devices, the time to crunch through a queue like this can easily go into dozens of seconds. During that time, some of the loaders can be unloaded, cleared, nulled and deleted. Yet, the loader isn't removed from the decoding queue.
In other words: once you fire the 'load' method on a Loader instance, you're not able to cancel the decompression process, even though the decompression might not even have started yet, as queued by other decompressions.
    Issue 2:
When a Loader instance is unloaded, cleared, nulled and deleted while its decompression is still queued and not yet fully decompressed, there seems to be a memory leak. With several dozens of images loading and interupting the loading, you'll notice a difference in memory consumtion when comparing memory output in Scout and in Instruments. Both memory graphs build up very similar yet after the runtime's garbarge collection kicks in, the memory graph in Instruments seems to not release memory fully. Consumption gradually rises until the app eventually crashes.
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/608333/AIRMemoryLeakExample.zip
This example app allows you to create loaders in bursts by touching the screen.
You'll instantly see the massive waiting times for decompression, despite the fact there's only a few Loader instances in memory at the same time. After several short bursts and wait-a-bit-for-decompression-to-catch-up, you should also notice the difference in memory profiling between Scout and Instruments.
I managed to work around both issues by making a LoaderQueueManager class.
This class instantiates and returns a Loader instance, queues these instances and tracks its onComplete handler. Only when one loader is finished loading, the next loader starts loading. This way, you never have different instances trying to simulataneously decompress their content. As such decompressions are never interrupted and loaders can also be de-queued. This practically speeds up decompression dramatically, since images that are removed won't get decompressed in vain. Memory Leaks also don't occur, since not a single decompression is ever interupted.
This solution only works with content loaded locally.
Hope you can get somewhere with this,
and hopefully, you find a fix in one of the next AIR releases.
    best,
    bart.

  • Get AIR runtime in Flash CC 2014

    Hello!
Please could someone tell me about why can no longer in Flash CC 2014 choose the option to "get the AIR runtime..." for Android?
The checkbox appears disabled and it seems that now is only possible embed the runtime.
    Thanks.
    Tiago

    Hi kglad.
The path was already appointed to the folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CC 2014\AIR13.0.
I am creating a file based on AIR for Android, but when configuring to use a runtime, I would choose the option of getting the runtime.
But this option is disabled, only allowing me to embed the runtime.
As I understand it, from the AIR 3.7 only the option of embedding is allowed, but this makes the final app size increase too much (> 8 or 9 MB).
I wonder if there is any way to be able to choose the option of get a runtime from a store as was possible until AIR 3.6.
    Thanks.

  • Whats the difference between the Flash Player runtime and Adobe AIR runtime?

Hey all. I've been into coding for about 5 years now, but I'm a recent convert to Flash development. One of the questions I have at the moment is, considering that SWF files can be run by either Adobe Flash Player OR Adobe AIR, what's the real difference between the two runtime environments? What API's and Objects exist in one environment, but not the other?
Basically what I'm more or less trying to establish is, when would I want to develop an SWF for AIR, and when would I want to develop for Flash Player, considering that Flash Player can also execute locally (providing support for creating "desktop applications").
    Thanks in advance,
                               Jay.

Main Difference for the user: he also has to install the AIR runtime, that is about 15MB (Flash Plugin won`t do the job alone).
The market penetration for AIR is way below that of flash, so your user needs a good reason to install the Runtime
Also the System requirements are much more harder, you can`t use an Air application in XPSP1 for example.
As a rule of thumb you could say: Use Air, if you want to have the user something saved locally, with AIR you have the possibility to write any fileformat to hard disk, with flash you can only use so called Local shared objects
