CS6 "Ask When Pasting" not working?

I have "Ask When Pasting" checked in Color Settings, but I just realized that images are being converted without asking. Is this a bug in CS6?
If not maybe there is something wrong with my preferences?
I have to rebuild a document because the base image was an FPO in sRGB that I forgot to convert to my CMYK space. Usually I would be asked if I want to convert when I drag a new layer over which would catch my mistake.
I tried resetting the dialog by going to Prefences>General>Reset all warning dialogs, which didn't fix it. Howerver, I'm not sure that the reset in Gereral Preferences also affects the Color Settings preferences.
I also tried closing PS and throwing out Color Settings.csf from my User Preferences. This didn't fix it either. I've never had Color Settings go bad, so I'm not 100% sure this is the right file to remove.
Can anyone confirm that this works correctly with their copy of CS6? I first saw this when my base document was in sRGB and the layer I dragged over was in "Web Coated SWOP 2006 Grade 3 Paper". I just tried it in the opposite direction with the same results.
Photoshop CS6 Extended, Version 13.0 x64. Mac OS10.7.4. 17" MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz Quad Core i7, 16GB ram.

The dialog has two functions in this case - a warning, and a choice.
The dialog for a color mode conversion could just be a warning without the choice.  The preference does mention being given the choice, but I think the key thing here is the warning.  It's not like we don't have a way to avoid the warning (by unchecking the preference).  The wording could be changed slightly in the Color Settings description to handle the possibility that you won't be asked - it's kind of silly to think the warning could be suppressed because it's not possible to ask the user to maintain the color numbers.
An example rewording:
Profile Mismatches - Ask When Pasting:  When enabled, you will be notified whenever color profile mismatches occur as colors are imported into a document (via pasting, drag-and-drop, etc.0), and (where appropriate) given the option to override the policy's default mismatch behavior.

    When images are updated shouldn’t you get a dialog box in the program saying that a link had been modified?
    This has now happened to me more then once. When images have been updated on the server I am getting no notice of this in Illustrator. The images are just being linked with no warning that they were modified. Thus if an image changed at all in position I won’t get a warning about this, unless I catch it. And if it is very minor, or if say a small part of the image was masked or removed I would not know.
    I have attached a screen caption of how my settings are in Illustrator… I should be getting a dialog box asking me what to do.

  • Adobe Illustrator CS6 serial number does not work on my new MAC. It does work on my old MAC.

    I have Adobe Illustrator CS6 installed on my new Mac but the serial number does not work.
    Do I need to remove the program on the old Mac first?

    You can install it on two computers simultaneously, so uninstalling is not needed if it's the only other installation.

  • Why does the "fix" for firefox copying and pasting not work?

    I did the fix a few times and restarted firefox, with no success. Also, I installed the latest version of firefox and it is slower now. I have to use firefox for school, otherwise I would just find another way.

    In what way is Firefox slow?
    Is this all the time or only with loading web pages?

  • Cut/Paste not working in Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac

    Sirs,
    I am using Microsoft Remote Desktop V8.05 build 24428 on a Mac under the latest Mavericks OS, and I find that Cut and Paste are not working. When I paste on Remote Desktop Windows always pastes the last thing cut/copied under the Windows remote session,
    rather than whatever I just cut/copied in another Mac window.
    I am well  aware that the keystrokes are different, and I tried to follow the instructions on another question which indicated that I should select the console session  checkbox on Remote Desktop's 'Connection' configuration window. However Remote
    Desktop no longer seems to have that option ... the topmost line now shows 'Admin Console' and checking it did not help with cut/paste.
    I hope you can tell me how to get this working as cut/paste is a great convenience.

  • Dreamweaver copy and paste not working

    Hi
    The copy and paste functions on my Dreamweaver have stopped
    working.
    The copy and paste functions are greyed out in the edit drop
    down in both code and design views. Ctr C and V are also not
    working.
    Tried various fixes including moving the config folder and
    reinstalling but nothing has worked.
    Any suggestions?

    You can try this simple fix -
    Quit DW.
    Find this folder -
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
    (these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • Photoshop CS6 Save for Web not working

    I am using photoshop CS6 (cloud) on Mac (10.7.5) and when I use the Save For Web > save, i got the following popup :
    ---- Adobe Save For Web Error ----
    Could not complete this operation. An unknown operating system error has occurred.
    I have been using CS6 for months and it worked fine yesterday before shutting done. Today morning at startup it was not working anymore.
    I have tried to  uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop, clear my presets, shut down/started up, repair disk, repair permissions,... without succes.
    The save for web function still works in CS5.
    Any help will be very much appreciated,

    I found the solution (took forever to consolidate all the answers) for OS X 10.9 + Maverick. Finally!
    1. Change permissions (as AOTPR says) to your User/Library/Preferences file so that your admin and user (the one you are using) has read + write permissions within the Get Info pane (command+I). You may have to add them with the sign.
    2. Delete Adobe save for web 12.0 Prefs & Adobe save for web 13.0 Prefs files within the User/ Library/ Preferences folder. These may be hidden for some people, so when in a finder window, hold Option(alt) and click Go from the main top menu (keep holding Option/Alt) and click Library — the full Preferences folder should open for you.
    3. Change the view when in Save for web pane in PS. If you have it in Cover Flow — it won't work. Change it to another view like List or Columns view.
    Presto! Works for me on Maverick.

  • CS6 serial number upgrade not working (win)

    I've been using CS6 for a while now (got an upgrade from CS5.5) and I'm trying to install it on my second computer and suddenly the serial number isn't correct. I'm using the serial number from CS6 (i've dubble checked the box and online) and I can't figure out why it's not working.
    Could it have to do with the product I'm supposed to choose? I've tried all off them with 6 in it and still NOTHING
    Help please!

    If you purchased an upgrade and it is askling you to choose the qualifying version, that would be the older version (CS5.5) that qualifies you to use the upgrade version.  You will have to choose CS5.5 as well as provide the serial number that was used for CS5.5 when you activated it.

    First to begin - I am a big iCloud fan. When it's working, nothing beats it
    And then, then there are days like today
    Although the support site for iCloud tells me clearly, that there are no reported problems with iCloud at this time - I cannot load for instance Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes - consistently over some hours - and yes, I have reported this to Apple - consistently - over the last few hours.
    One asks oneself how long the site takes to register problems.
    Additionally accessing Apple support sites (including this one) has proved incredibly slow this evening - as if the problem were a more general one ( ? )
    The most frustrating aspect of iCloud downtime for me is, that when I make changes in "Contacts" and sometimes in "Calendar" on my computer - they are sometimes not saved when iCloud is down.
    It is a pattern I have noticed repeatedly over the last year.
    Can anyone suggest ways to ensure this does not happen - there being no "save" function in "Contacts" or in "Calendar"
    (would this not perhaps be a useful addition ? - particularly at the times that the iCloud is down)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    First check that all your settings are correct, that reminders syncing (calendars on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
    Make sure the reminders you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone'  or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device by tapping the icon with three lines in the top left corner of the screen, or the right side panel by clicking on the small triangle to the right of the word 'Reminders' in iCal on a computer), non iCloud reminders will not sync.
    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your reminders are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking reminders syncing (calendars syncing on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

  • Cut/copy and Paste NOT working, NO malware and registry edit only temporary in FF 18.0.2

    I've followed EVERY suggested "cure" for the FAILED Cut/Copy - Paste function in FF 18.0.2 without success and am entirely considering UNINSTALLING FF and going back to IE8. There are MANY FF features I like and want to keep it but the simplest things become so frustrating ...
    SUCH AS: 1) Clipboard has worked ONLY SPORADICALLY no matter what I do, 2) Why is there no URL history while using PRIVATE BROWSING so I can retrace my own steps when needed by either pressing the BACKSPACE key or clicking the back arrow. Pressing the back arrow ONLY goes a certain number of steps back and then loses my origination point., 3) Why does the EMPTY CACHE button NOT clear all HISTORY. i.e., I go to a website, say Yahoo email, do my thing and sign out, then click HOME then Empty Cache and enter Yahoo email for a different email account and Yahoo recognizes my attempt and enters me into my previous email User name. Shouldn't happen, in my opinion. Any help here, WITHOUT run AV/malware detection/clean and delete registry entries since NONE OF THESE do anything positive??

    For about 2 weeks I had this problem and today I fixed it!
    Didn't fancy doing a Reset of Firefox as I'd only just done one a few months ago, manually.
    Basically, I uninstalled ZoneAlarm. I've been a ZoneAlarm fan for years but the software just got worse and worse and for about a year this weird thing pops up while I'm in Firefox by pressing CTRL Enter or something, it's like ZoneAlarm has put some kind of layer between me and the browser.
    Anyway, uninstalled it, it rebooted and did a scandisk which did find and fix a few errors too, so could also be that.
    But I'm happy without ZA now as I've found a better one called Online Armour... non of that sneaky trying to install toolbars in your browser rubbish of ZA.

  • Copy/Paste not working in Firefox v23 & v24 without ZoneAlarm installed

    Recently I updated my Firefox from version 22 to 23 and I noticed copy and paste text from web pages in Firefox to other applications like notepad and even Firefox not working in my windows 8 x86. Copying text from other apps like notepad and pasting to Firefox works fine!
    I also updated it to beta v24 and same problem is still there. I don't have any issue with IE.
    BTW I don't have ZoneAlarm Installed.

    If it works when you boot Windows in Safe Mode then it is likely that your security software is causing this problem.
    Other programs apart form ZoneAlarm can cause such issues as well.
    Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

  • IOS 8 Family Sharing "Ask to Buy" not working

    If it's not one thing with iOS 8, it's another.  I have a iPhone 6, iPad Air, and a child's iPhone 5.  I'm setup under my iCloud account as the "Organizer" on the iPad Air and iPhone 6, he is setup as a child, with "Ask to Buy" turned on, on the iPhone 5.  When he tries to make an app purchase on the iPhone 5, it says that permission must be granted, with a pop-up notification, and then you can select "Ask."  Problem is, I never receive the request on either the iPhone 6 or iPad Air, so I cannot grant permission.
    Any solutions?

    There sticky point appears to be related to what why call the "original" iCloud account vs. a newer iCloud account. In other words only the first iCloud account used to make purchases appears to work with "Ask to buy" feature. In my case I had a very old apple id (@mac, then @me, then @icloud) and after purchasing iPhones for all family members I created a new apple id for me (private backups between my devices). Each of my family members now have their own apple id's. Well, my fairly new apple id (which has payment methods for iTunes/appstore) does not work with "ask to buy" feature. Only the original apple id does. I can't understand why. As an experiment I added the original apple id as a family member in Family share, and set as parent/guardian. That did the trick in terms of receiving ask to buy notifications, but it will remove the ability for me to see shared purchases because there's two" apple ID's set under family sharing.
    If somebody figures out how to fix this, please let me know.

    The case when statement is struggling with how i have created the column mailaddress.  As it does seem to understand when it is null.  In the example I have got there is no value in any of the columns to create
    the mailaddress.  Hence why I am referencing it from elsewhere.  Due to having a way on the system where it picks up data from 2 different places.    The mailaddress is always correct if there is one, hence why
    trying to reference that one first.  So how do i change this case when statement to work ?

  • Bridge CS6: Output to PDF not working/Blank

    Using Mac Mini: Lion OS.
    Adobe CS6 Photoshop / Bridge
    This Output worked in the past. Sometime in the last month it has stopped working.
    I select three images for examples and want to create a simple pdf (content sheet)
    Nothing fancy, no watermark.
    I have reset the preference settings at bridge startup with the (hold alt key) still doesn't work.
    Any help would be great.

    OSX 10.8.2
    Bridge : CS6 (version 5.0.1.21)
    No software updates have been installed. The Output would give me option to PDF or Web.
    Nothing is happening now. The RIGHT hand window pane is completely empty.
    I select my three images, click on Output and nothing happens. (Just three selected images and and empty pane on the right hand side.)
    As of a month ago, this worked. I selected three images and Output, a whole window would show up with options to adjust the layout of my pdf sheet.
    I could fill in the header and footer, select columns and rows, resolution. Everything. Now nothing shows up.
    I can't describe it anymore than that.
