Hi David,
You need to download CS6 Photoshop and enter the serial number for CS6 Photoshop and then you would be prompted to enter the serial number for qualifying product.
Enter the CS5 serial number in order to install and activate CS5 Photoshop on your machine.

You don't. The behavior is as it always has been - Adobe apps never migrate legacy plug-ins and content to avoid compatibility issues. and you will probably need updated vertsions for CS6, anyway.

I think that you only have to install the CAD component in the PG or another machine.
If you need a file license, contact your AM in order to get an upgrade from CTIOS to CAD.

Adobe support saying my CS3 License is no longer valid for CS6 Upgrade

Hi,
I need some real, tangible help here. I've been on the phone and chat with Adobe support, which has been terrible. I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS6 Upgrade under the big promotion last year to upgrade from CS3. I am a valid owner of the CS3 Master Collection and purchased the CS6 upgrade straight from the Adobe website. I've been able to use the CS6 product fine until now.
Now, the support reps are telling me that my CS3 is not a valid upgrade product!!! Seriously??? Most of them are not even aware Adobe had the promotion. I'm just trying to transfer the license to another account, and just want the job done.

Not sure how, because Adobe says that's not possible to do – see:
Am I eligible for upgrade pricing from an earlier Creative Suite edition to an individual CS component?
If so, then what they say may be true and that could affect your eligibility to transfer the product.
As for solutions, it's no longer possible to upgrade from CS3 to CS6, but it is still possible to upgrade from CS3 to CC.

CS6 Upgrade Won't Recognize Existing CS5.5 Installation

I have a legal copy of CS5.5 Master Collection for Windows on my PC. It's installed on an SSD, mapped to drive B for speed. Just bought and downloaded CS6 Production Premium for Windows. Successfully entered the serial number, but the installer couldn't find the CS5.5 MC installation (itself an upgrade from a full version of CS5 MC) so it prompted me for the S/N of a qualifying product. I entered my CS5.5 MC S/N and the installer says it's not a qualifying product. What gives and how do I resolve this and get the CS6 upgrade to run? Thank you.

I have had my computer rfomatted and all software deleted in the process. I have been using CS5 extended for a few years now. When I went back in to upload my recent purchase of CS6 Upgrade which I have been using for the past 3 months..it doesn't recognize my serial number to the upgrade. I wonder if it is an Ativation issue? It looks very much like the system had a clean reinstall of the OS, and you may depend PS was not deactivated first. It also depends on whether CS5 and the CS6 upgrade were obtained as downloads from Adobe. If that was the case, then CS6 would have been seen as an upgrade from the order history. If CS5 was installed from a DVD, then CS6 might need to see CS5 installed and Activated before it will accept the SN.
[EDIT] It's moot now that DVDs are no longer available, but direct download of the Adobe apps has long seemed the most sensible approach to me. No searching for lost DVDs or serial numbers. All of the information available from anywhere in the world you happen to be with Internet access.
