CSA 5.1 MC server OS requirement weirdness

hi netpros,
tried to install csa mc 5.1 to play around with and got an error/warning message that my OS is not supported.

Your OS is not Windows 2003 R2. That's why you got the first message.
Since English is the only supported language on Windows NT, and it didn't find a supported OS, I think that prompted the 2nd message.
You should still be able to install it. I did.

Really would help to know what operating system you are using...
When you set up the disks for use with ASM, did you stamp them with ASMLIB? If not, did you configure device persistance with udev? Without using one of these methods, the disk identification can change when a node is restarted, and ASM is then unable to locate the disks.

Server Side Requirement

I am a .Mac (Apple Computer) -- more recently MobileMe --
user who would like to upgrade the functionality of his .Mac
(MobileMe) website. I use Dreamweaver CS3 to manage my website and
would like to improve my webpage functionality to make my site more
attractive and easier to navigate. In order to achieve this end I
am considering the use of several SPRY navigating widgets and some
other soft-gadgetry including Master/Detail XML files.
Although it is easy to find information about how to include
this gadgetry into my website, it has proven difficult for me to
determine whether, once included, it will function. As MobileMe
only supports its own software, I have been left in the cold.
Surely trial and error are a reasonable alternative to Apple's
reluctance to assist in this matter, but this approach can be very
time consuming. Can someone direct me to a proper source?
I need to know the minimum server-side requirements for each
SPRY element that I include in my webpages.

Well i can't say much about this subject as i don't have
MobileMe account, but the hosting doesn't provide any serverside
coding like PHP.
If you don't have the iWeb program to publish websites you
can manually put the required Spry files in the Web/Sites folder.
The only items that are required to run Spry are the
JavaScript files. (and the css files for styling, but its not
required for the functionality).
Just make sure you upload all files in the right folders and
that you link to the correct folders.

As far as I know there’s an actual/direct fix or KB for this error, we need to troubleshooting which specific operation or update caused the error.
If it ever happen in your production TFS Server, and it not be resolved, we suggest you contact a professional support service to resolve this error.
When an error happened in a TFS Server, we should resolve this error in this current TFS Server version. Don’t upgrade this ‘issue’ TFS Server to higher version of TFS before you resolve/remove this error from current TFS Server, unless the higher version
of TFS released the KB to resolve this specific error. Which issues be fixed in Update 4, you can check the list in this KB:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2994375/. If this specific error is not a known/fixed issue in Update 4, it may be cannot upgrade to Update 4 successfully, and may cause the new issue in Update
4 Server if you force upgrade completely. Then it’s hard to find the root cause of this specific issue in Update 4 Server.

The Welcome screen getting a message from the network asking you to authenticate to connect to the internet. You often see this when you go to a coffee shop or are at the airport and you try to connect to the internet, you get another window pop-up and ask you to accept terms and log onto the net.
If you launch a separate browser, you should see a pop-up window asking to accept terms and log-on to whatever network you’re attempting to connect to. After you've accepted the terms and or logged in using your browser, you can they go back to the application you launched (e.g. Photoshop). You should now see the contents of the Welcome dialog and not get the "server credentials required” message.

How to send email from OSB with Mail server that requires SSL or STARTTLS

Hi everyone.
My leader ask me configuration on OSB to support send email to my company mail server (using https chanel) and customer email (some of them is gmail that require STARTTLS or SSL).

But OSB cannot send email from mail account that configured because it cannot login to mail server. I think the reason is secure authentication with SSL or TLS.
There some problems that similar to mine in this forum but has nobody solved it yet.
Can you tell me the solution you know? Any suggestion is appreciated.

I know I'll offer you just a workaround and not a real solution, but you can try to start your own (intermediate) SMTP server to communicate with OSB (without SSL). Then you can just relay all the messages to your "real" SMTP server which requires SSL. If you start your intermediate SMTP server on the OSB host (localhost), then this layout could be acceptable even from security point of view.

Couple of things that I see when I read this.
1 - If you have tried to reset your password (and it says that mail has been sent) my guess is that your spam or junk folder may have it on Gmail? That's assuming your old email account (earthlink) is still forwarding to your new (Gmail) account.
2 - Make sure your Firefox versions are up to date on the devices.

2010 server role requirements calculator

I'm sure there are other threads on this my terminology must be off on searching for them.
I have a 2010 exchange environmnet, VMWare, max ____ 2TB. I don't know if I need to say max disk, volume, lun or single storage device. But if the role calc is going to help me I need to input this limit. I have 2 mbx servers, no DAGs.
The calc returns lun sizes of 6+ TB but I can't have luns that large.
How/where do I input the right number so the calc will help me with storage configuration?

LDAP Server Signing requirements

Dear All,
Until now I have been running my two Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory domain controllers with the "Domain Controller: LDAP server signing requirements"
not defined (which is the same as None) due to the fact that they allowed authentication to our web server's content management system (Squiz Matrix if you need to know). I followed the instructions in

to enable logging of 2889 events (where the server allowed a client to LDAP bind without requiring signing and also sending the passwords in cleartext!). This showed that our CMS servers were indeed doing most of the unsigned binding as expected.
It seems that the preferred solution for this is to enable LDAP over SSL, which implies getting a certificate for each of the domain controllers, setting the "Domain
Controller: LDAP server signing requirements" to required, and configure the CMS to use LDAP over SSL. This prompts me to ask a couple of questions:
1) If only the CMS servers appear in the 2889 events, that would mean they are the only ones binding without signing; but so far I have not got LDAP over SSL enabled, and if none of the member servers and desktops in my domain appear there, how are
they signing, because they are not doing it against a certificate I have not created so far?
2) Would using a self-signed certificate in the domain controllers cause any problems?

Based on my research, using a self-signed certificate for LDAP signing will work, though it is not secure enough. It’s better to install a properly formatted certificate from either
a Microsoft certification authority (CA) or a non-Microsoft CA.

SQL Server file required

I may have missed the fix on this but I am having the same issue where iTunes requires a file from the SQL Server Desktop engine (sony media Manager disk) and It can not find it. Where do I go from here. I do not have a Sony Media Manager Disk or a seperate SQL Server Disk. Can someone point me to a place I can DL it?

disks" messages go away if you put a CD in the CD
drive and then try to launch itunes.

To be clear this is happening on installation. In checking MS for the file it appears is part of a 16 file sequence SQLRun01 THRU 16. I am going to try and install the SQLSERVER Engine express. With any luck this free version will help. Any other sugestions?

Server 2012 - Problem with multiple instances of RDS looking to the same license server. Server Pools requiring the wrong servers.

I have two domains, prod.local and test.local. On prod.local, I have a license server living on the connection broker. I have created a two way trust between the domains so that the RDS instance on test.local can use the license server on prod.local.
When I first setup the RDS instance on test.local and point it to use the license server on prod.local everything appears to work, all servers recognize the license server.
However when I log off and back on, and click the RDS dashboard in test.local, the Remote Desktop Services overview states I need to add every server from prod.local to the server pool. This is bothersome because the Remote Desktop Services on test.local
is still functioning, but I am no longer able to manage it. When I add the servers from prod.local to the server pool I am displayed the setup for prod.local instead of test.local
Is there a way around this? Can I use the same RDS license server key multiple times?
tldr: Using a different domain's license server causes my RDS instance in Server Manager to display the wrong RDS farm.

Thank you for posting in Windows Server forum.
Please check the required ports must be opened on firewall.
- To issue RDS Per User CALs to users in other domains, there must be a two-way trust between the domains, and the license server must be a member of the Terminal Server License Servers group in those domains.
- To restrict the issuance of RDS CALs, you can add RDS Host Servers into Terminal Server Computers group on RDS Licensing servers.
- Configure RDS licensing server on all RDS Host Servers in each domain/forest. You can do it through RDS host configuration snap-in or through a group policy.
- Add administrators group of each domain/forest in the local administrators of RDS licensing server. This way, you’ll not get a prompt to enter your credentials when you’ll open RDS host configuration snap-ins in trusted domains/forests.

How do I connect to an SMTP server that requires a username and password?

I am currently working on a project for university which requires me to send and receive email. I was until this week able to send mail no problem, but now the SMTP server has been upgraded so that each time a mail is sent it requires the username and password.
Ideally the connection should be made using TLS/SSL, and not use the Authenticator method. I want to pass the username and password directly if possible.
I've been trying to use the following but have been getting handshake, and other exceptions:

I always wonder what misleads people to do things this way.
Was there some example you saw that suggested that instantiating
an SMTPSSLTransport was the correct approach? I hope not.
See the smtpsend.java demo program for how to use SMTP
authentication. If you need to use SSL, see the SSLNOTES.txt
file for hints on using the "smtps" protocol. smtpsend.java also
illustrates use of SSL, but you'll need to fix a bug in it to use the
correct property names ("mail.smtps.auth", etc.).

Application Server Memory Requirements from 4.6C to ECC 6.0

The projected physical memory increase for the Application servers from 46C to ECC6 appears to between 45% - 66%. This is based on the delta notes 517085, 752532, 778774 and 901070. It also appears from a presentation from Christian Oehler called "Transition and Upgrade to SAP ERP" to be the case.
I cannot find anything in the above referenced SAP notes that indicates where this additional memory is consumed, so I'm concerned SAP is factoring in new functionality and/or JAVA stack in this. Furthermore we have upgraded our HR system from 46C to ECC6 sometime ago and included JAVA and saw around a 20% memory increase.
We are doing a strictly technical upgrade and are not turning on new functionality at this point (no JAVA stack), we are also not increasing user population. Our Test Systems, which have production data volumes do not reflect any growth in this area, but we are not stressing it with user load.
Does anyone have an idea of what we could/should see given the nature of our upgrade? We are preparing for a 25% increase in App server memory, but not for 50% plus. We are not doing a sizing exercise since this is just a technical upgrade and the GLFU service has yet to start.
If anyone has any insight into what should be expected or what they have seen for memory requirements from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 Application Server sit would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark,
More memory is required because ECC 6.0 is much more huge system than 4.6C. If you are planning to increase server memory by 25% only, than you can see performance problems if system will be heavyly used. But it depends mainly on number of WP and active users. 25-50% more memory is required if you are not installing J2EE addin afterwards. If you are planning to convert the database to Unicode, than you will need an additional memory....
It's not easy to say 25% will be enought or 50% is required, but I would suggest to go to 50% at least.

Since we are using 64 bit application the ASP.Net file needs to be forced to use 32 bit because RWD sometimes does not recognize the file during the installation process.
1. Ensure the uPerform Website points to use port 80 and the Collaboration Server to use port 8080. This can be verified or change by executing the AuthenticationWizard.exe file located in: <InstallPath>\Collaboration\WWW\uPerformWS\ms
-Click on Start u2013 verify or change the information as needed and ensure the Server DNS Hostname does not have 8080 at the end.
2. Set the permissions to full rights for all users for the file RWD.uPerform.ServerConfiguration.DLL u2013 located in: <InstallPath>\Collaboration\WWW\uPerformWS\
3. Delete the VCBS folders in
<InstallPath>\Collaboration\webapps\
Re-Start IIS
Once is back up:
-     Make sure Web Service Extensions is using ASP.NET v2.05727 (32-bit). Remove or prohibit any other ASP.NET.
-     Make sure Jakarta Connector is set to allowed if not create a new connector to point to file <InstallPath>\Collaboration\JKConnect\bin\isapi_redirect-1.2.14.dll
-     Make sure WebDAV is set to allowed
Inside the websites (iis) right click on uPerform Collaboration and click on properties. Display the tab ISAPI Filters and make sure Jakarta is there and in black font. Any other color (RED) indicates is not connected and you need to delete it from the web services extensions and then add it back in this section u2026 same file location.
Re-Start IIS
Once is back up:
Re-register ASP.NET by executing this file from the command line:
C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\aspnet_regiis.exe u2013iru
Once this is doneu2026 then do:
C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\aspnet_regiis.exe u2013ir
Re-Start IIS
Ensure the website is back up u2026 and continue with the configuration of the RWD uPerform Server.
