CSS and Nessus Scans (SSH vulernability)

I have a CSS 11503 running 8.20.3.03. I have performed a Nessus vulnerability scan against the CSS. The scans have shown vulnerabilities against SSH. It is reporting that we need to upgrade to OpenSSH version 5.0 or later.
If I upgrade to 8.20.5.01 will that address this issue? I looked thru the caveats for the other code versions and I do not see that being addressed as an issue or a fix.
If not is there something else I can do address this issue?
Any help would be appreciated.

Cesar,
The scans identified a few vulnerabilities,
CVE-2002-0639
CVE-2002-0640
CVE-2003-0682
CVE-2003-0693
CVE-2003-0695
CVE-2002-0575
CVE-2002-0083
CVE-2003-0386
CVE-2008-1483
I noticed that you state that 8.20.5.01 runs OpenSSH_3.0.2p1. This is the same SSH that 8.20.3.03 is reporting. So upgrading does not look to be a solution.
Side note I am not leveraging the Web NS function. I just SSH or console into the CSS.

  • ACAS Nessus scans of Cisco devices

    Hello, we have an ACAS configuration with Security Center and Nessus scanner running on RHEL 5.10.
    Our infrastructure consists of WS-6509, WS-3750X's, G's and some old E's.
    We configured Nessus scanner with the proper Username/Password/Enable Password combinations.
    At this time it will scan one 3750 switch but none of the other 130 devices.
    If I attempt to ssh into a device from Nessus server it fails either a connection refusal from the device on port 22 or it doesn't like the cipher choices.
    I checked the switch that it does access against the others and found ip ssh authentication-retries 4 was configured and some SNMP settings that don't exist in the switches that can't be scanned.
    Anyone have this issue?

    Hello,
    You may find useful Pretty Good Terminal http://www.prettygoodterminal.com which has recently been published. This software is more about device management (via ssh/telnet) in large scales and through several jump server hops, than a terminal application. It was developed by me when I was given a task to configure more than 50000 CPE routers.So this software is a response to a real challenge and it is a good fit to collect device information.

  • Filting html tags, css, and javascript with regex

    hi everyone,
    im writing a small application where a user types in a url, and the text of the webpage is displayed in a text area.
    ive got it to work, however it takes some time, and also alot of content i dont want is displayed - tags, scripts and sometimes css.
    initally i filtered out the html tags with a regular expression, but i still get alot of unwanted content.
    im not a confident java programmer, and the idea of parsing html, css and javascript is the scariest idea ever to me, so my next idea is to keep only everything between the <body> tags - everything above and below it is deleted - hopefully that should leave me only with the visible content on the site.
    ive messed around with regular expressions but i cant get it to work, can anyone help out?
    thanks alot,
    Torre

    Darryl.Burke wrote:
    I tried out the regexes I posted on the source of a forum page, which is not valid html (contains two each opening and closing body tags). With a bit of trial and error I was able to remove everything upto the first, and not the second, opening tag by using a reluctant qualifier, ^.*?, but couldn't for the life of me achieve removal of only the last closing tag, leaving the other, invalid one intact. How would you do that?Regexes always try to match the first occurrence of whatever they're looking for (the sentinel), and there's no way to change that behavior (but it would be handy if you could). What you have to do instead is make sure the rest of the regex can't match the sentinel. For that you need lookahead, and the simplest way to use it is to scan the rest of the text looking for the sentinel and, if it doesn't find one, go ahead and gobble up the remaining text: "(?is)</body>(?!.*</body).*$" However, if there are many occurrences of the sentinel, you could take a serious performance hit. Here's a much more efficient way: "(?is)</body>(?:[^<]++|<(?!/body>))*+$" After matching the sentinel, this regex gobbles up anything that's not the first character of the sentinel, or the first character as long as it isn't followed by the remaining characters of the sentinel. The advantages of this regex are that it never has to backtrack, and the lookahead is only applied when it's necessary, where the first regex applies it every time.

  • NAC Nessus scanning

    Is there a list of the most common plugins used for Nessus scanning in NAC?
    Thanks . . .

    I did figure it out at the end of the day yesterday. I should have posted then. It turned out to be a layer 8 issue on my part. I had the plugins selected for All and Windows_All was pointing to All but my individual Windows selections, like WindowsXP, where not pointing to the Windows_All so it was working but just didn't have anything selected. Thank you for your reply, Jonathan. These message boards have proven to be a big help.

  • NAC Appliance & Nessus Scanning

    Hi All,
    In the process of getting our NAC appliance setup moved into a production level. We have everything working up to getting Nessus scanning working. I'm a bit confused by the documentation. It appears as though Nessus scanning only applys to web login users... is this correct? The doc shows activating Nessus vulnerability handling under General Setup -> Web Login. I don't see anywhere how to enable it for an agent environment. I have a setup where our test user is placed into the proper roles, and I have selected a Nessus vulnerabilty for that role. I never see the scan happen though. It's as if the agent isn't required to go through vulnerability scanning before being placed into his or her role. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for any help!
    -Mike

    Paul,
    Good to hear from you. I have been rather busy and I'm hoping to get some time in the near future to get the blog updated. The CMPC program I wrote has been quite popular with nearly 400 downloads so far.
    Back to the issue of Nessus scans. We're looking good, getting scans done now on the agent side. But I'm trying to test by enabling the TFTP server detected plugin. I have it setup as seen in the attachment. When I test against the workstation, it shows that it detected the TFTP server running. But, when the user logs in with the agent and is placed in that same role, they never are notified they are vulnerable. Why is that?
    Thanks for the help so far!

  • I need help with CSS and floating

    Okay, I know I need to get up on CSS and get rid of tables in
    my sites.
    However, I'm running up against a problem, and after banging
    my head
    against it for a while, I realize I need help. I've stripped
    this down
    so as to only show the area where I'm having difficulty.
    What I want is a page that has everything down the center,
    taking up no
    more than 750 pixels and no more than 550 pixels of width. No
    problem there.
    After the header and the top content, I'd like to have two
    "columns",
    each in it's own separately-colored box. I would like the
    right-side
    column/box to be a static size, while the left-side
    column/box sizes
    dynamically.
    Where I'm having problems is that when one column is boxed,
    it's fine,
    but whenever I wrap each column in its own box, the
    fixed-size box
    either jumps below or above the other box (depending on which
    one has
    been floated and which order the div's appear in the code).
    Here are the links:
    CSS:
    http://www.afice.org/stylesheet/floatmestyles.css
    ex 1:
    http://www.afice.org/floatme1.html
    ex 2:
    http://www.afice.org/floatme2.html
    Before sending, I took a look again, just to see if I was
    missing
    anything. I did notice that it doesn't seem to be that the
    box is
    jumping down so much as it is that it's getting written over.
    Anyway, sorry for the long-winded explanation. I hope I've
    managed to
    explain what I'm trying to do well enough that someone can
    tell me where
    I'm going wrong.
    Thanks,

    Do you want something like this:
    http://www.pmob.co.uk/temp/spointfooter.htm
    You will need to look at the code to see how it was done.
    Otherwise, there are different examples here on Pauls' site:

    my 3 year-old macbook pro is very slow. I have run disk utility and virus scan with no improvement. The "beach ball" will spin for minutes at a time when opening, closing or changing windows. Apple Store looked at it a few months ago with no help. What can I do?

    Under CPU: 3.5% user; 5% system; 91% idle; 441 threads; 90 processes.
    Under System: out of 2GB - 54.7MB free; 530MB wired; 603MB active; 862MB inactive; 1.95GB used.
    Is too much of the system memory tied up? If so, what can I do to free some up?

    My itunes account on windows xp shuts down for no reason.  If even try to delete something from my library it shuts down.   It wont recognize my iphone and there is an issue with network connectivity and I can't connect to the store.  I have already  reinstalled itunes and did a system restore on my computer, firewall has been checked, itunes is ok on firewall and virus scan done.  Ideas??

    Same problem. I can see the itunes store so not a problem with windows firewall. The account is active on my iphone so i know i am not locked out. I can connect the PC to my iphone so i know itunes is working ok. It is just logging into itunes on this pc which doesn't work. Only thing I can think of is that the email address I use for my apple id has been offline for a while and is working again now, I'm wondering whether this has been the case for others who are having this issue?

  • Have been advised by my email provider (recently blocked account requiring password reset) that they will only reset the password after a proven anti viru and malware scan has been done on ipad and iphone. Is this necessary and if so what do i use

    Have been advised by my email provider (recently blocked account requiring password reset) that they will only reset the password after a proven anti virus and malware scan has been done on ipad and iphone. Is this necessary and if so what do i use

    As KP has pointed out, there actually aren't any anti-virus programs in the App Store. There are a few that allow you to scan e-mail or stuff like that, and a few that provide you with information about malware and new threats for other systems. But none are available that can scan your iOS device for malware, because the security restrictions in iOS do not permit any apps to have that kind of access to anything. Which means that you also cannot be infected with a virus (unless you have jailbroken your device).
    If your account got compromised, that had nothing whatsoever to do with your iPad. Someone simply hacked it remotely. Happens all the time. It's really amazing that, in this day and age, e-mail providers are so ignorant of technology and how their own systems get compromised that they would try to require you to run software that does not exist!

  • How to use CSS and images in a plsql-dbms_output reports?

    Hi.
    Windows 2000 SP4
    SQL Developer 1.2.1.32.13
    Java 1.5.0_07
    Oracle 9.2.0.6
    I'm trying to create a plsql-dbms_output report with HTML that uses a stylesheet (CSS) and an image. These seem to be ignored by the report viewer.
    The following example works fine in Internet Explorer 6 but the stylesheet is ignored by the viewer and the viewer does not show the images (shows broken images instead). I've tried with various image types (PNG, GIF and JPEG).
    <!--
    begin
    dbms_output.put_line('<head><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="file://c:/temp/core.css"/></head><body>');
    dbms_output.put_line('<H1>This is Level-1 Heading</H1>');
    dbms_output.put_line('<H2>This is a Level-2 Heading</H2>');
    dbms_output.put_line('<p>This is regular paragraph text.</p>');
    dbms_output.put_line('<img src="file://c:/temp/fig01.png"><br>');
    dbms_output.put_line('<img src="file://c:/temp/fig01.gif"><br>');
    dbms_output.put_line('<img src="file://c:/temp/fig01.jpg"><br>');
    dbms_output.put_line('</body>');
    end;
    -->
    Is the HTML viewer limited to not support stylesheets and images?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers

  • CSS and Spry not displaying

    Hi, I have recently created a website using Dreamweaver. I don't know much coding at all so I did it using the design view. It is a very basic site. Just one page, styled with CSS and with Spry Tabbed Panels to reveal 4 different 'pages'
    I have uploaded my website folder to the server via ftp but none of the CSS, images or spry are displaying.
    I uploaded one folder which contained 2 subfolders and one html file
    -SubFolder 1: Spry Assets
    -SubFolder 2: Images
    -index.html (with internal .css)
    I can see that the folders have been uploaded but for some reason they are not being read. I would really appreciate some help as my web host says they can't help me. I can send you the html file or whatever you need if you would like to take a look. It really is a very simple website so i'm sure it wouldn't take one of you geniuses very long to figure it out!
    Cheers

    Thanks for your quick responses guys! Hopefully I can reach a solution with this.
    In answer to your questions:
    - Yes, I defined a local site folder in Dreamweaver. That is the folder I uploaded via ftp.
    -Am I working with valid code? I don't know. I have not touched any of the code. I used 'design view' in Dreamweaver. Previewed in Firefox, Safari and IE and it works with no problems.
    Below is the code for index.html and below that is the css code for spry tabbed panels.

  • Using CSS and Javascript to display a div with flash in it, mozilla reloads the flash file!

    I am using CSS and Javascript to display a div with an
    embedded flash object in it. Mozilla Firefox reloads the flash file
    when the div is displayed! (I dont want this to happen, as it's
    unexpected functionality, my expectation would be that the flash
    file would not change it's state at all, and would remain in
    whatever state it was left in.)
    I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and is
    there something I can do to prevent this from occurring?
    To be more specific, I have a single HTML page with 8 flash
    files embedded in it (yeah I know, it's a bit much). I am then
    using CSS and Javascript to display (via a numbered link (with an
    id)) an equivalent numbered div tag containing the flash file.
    Mozilla Firefox reloads the flash object that is in the div.
    Internet Explorer will not do this and will instead, load the flash
    object only upon initial view of the flash object. All subsequent
    links (in IE) will NOT reload the flash object on the page. I'm
    guessing this is some kind of difference in the flash player as an
    Active X object and the plugin, or is it just IE being clever? Or
    am I way off?
    Anyway, here is the code...

  • I get prompted to select a scanner and a scan profile/preset each time I try to scan a document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro.

    Hello,
    I have a fujitsu scanner (fi-6140) connected to my computer and have the "Scan" button on the scanner associated with Adobe Acrobat.  And so when I press the "Scan" button on the scanner to scan a document, it launches Adobe Acrobat Pro automatically.   Then I get prompted to select a scanner/device and a scan profile.  It seems to remember the last-used scanner/device, however; it still prompts me each time to confirm the scanner/device selected and select a scan profile to use.  Is there a way to save both the scanner & scan profile information and so when I click the "Scan" button, it doesn't prompt me to select but starts scanning using the last-used settings automatically?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    Are you facing the issue with any pdf file?
    Please try updating Acrobat to 11.0.7 and check.
    You might also want to repair Acrobat and see.
