Css for form inputs

Yuo can see how I do it an the moment below-what is the css
way so that all of my inputs are automatically given a class as I
am sick of having to entering the class="" on each one. Thank
you!

Hello,
Also, you may want to check this site out to see how
different form elements
styled with CSS appear in different browsers.
Some are much more consistent cross-browser than others.
http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/200701/styling_form_controls_with_css_revisited/
particularly this one for inputs, which is pretty consistent
versus one like
"submit" buttons.

  • Changing CSS for form field elements?

    Hi,
    Is there a way we can change the CSS for Form text fields in APEX 4.1 so that they look a little better? Or is the .css file located somewhere where we can just go and change?
    Thanks,
    Sun

    Hi,
    If you are referring to changing the CSS properties then you can do that.
    Add /override styles to the page item's HTML Form Element Attributes
    style="<cssproperty1>:<value1>;<cssproperty2>:<value2>;"
    e.g.
    style="background-color:red;color:yellow;"Red/yellow is certainly not "looking better", the idea is to give you the direction.
    If you know the class of the item(s) then you can change the styles by overriding the built-in style of the template by adding the &lt;style&gt; in the Page HTML
    Header as well.
    Or, define your own class, add the class to the HTML Form Element Attributes field and adding the style in the Page HTML Header.

  • How to create one submit form for both input an variable ports ?

    Hello,
    I would like to create an input from for a query I have.
    The problem is that this query has both input an variable ports and each one creates a different input form. I would like to join it into one form or at least have it under one "Submit" button so the user won't need to fill two forms.
    How can I achieve this?

    Hi Mario,
    Thank you for your quick reply.
    >>Even if you could, only port would be effective.
    Can you please elaborate?
    >> You need to change your query and make your input port-fields variables?
    So, if I understand correctly I should select whether I go for only inputs or only variables?
    Thanks,
    Roy

  • How to prompt for user input in Forms

    How do I prompt for user input in Forms?
    I am writing a piece of code where the user may choose, by clicking either of three buttons on an alert, to have the system assign a value to a variable, to input a value or to do neither?
    If the user chooses to input the value I want to update a set of database fields with the value.
    I have thought about showing a view where the value may be entered into a field displayed on that view. The value will be assigned to the variable by the user clicking a command button. The question I have in this case though, is whether, after the command button is clicked, control will be passed back to the code that called the view in the first place?

    Desgordon,
    This can be accomplished by displaying your message to the user using an Alert. I use 3 different Alerts (Note, Caution and Stop) in my forms and they are inherited from a central source file (such as an Object Library or a Template Form) so they can be used by all of my Forms. You can set the text of the Alert using the SET_ALERT_PROPERTY() built-in and capture what button the user presses with the SHOW_ALERT() built-in. Additionally, if you need more than one button to be displayed in an alert, you use the SET_ALERT_BUTTON_PROPERTY() built-in to rename the default button or to add up to a total of three buttons in the alert. Here's an example:
    DECLARE
       Alert_ID       ALERT;
       v_AlertType    VARCHAR2(10) := 'CAUTION';
       v_AlertTitle     VARCHAR2(25);
       v_AlertText    VARCHAR2(150);
       n_AlertButton  NUMBER;
    BEGIN
       v_AlertTitle := 'Title of Alert';
       v_AlertText := 'This is message to the user.';
       /* Code leading up to the decision point. */
       alert_id := FIND_ALERT(v_AlertType);
       /* Note: I only set the Label of Button 2 because the default button 1 label is 'OK' */
       SET_ALERT_BUTTON_PROPERTY(v_AlertType, ALERT_BUTTON2, LABEL, 'Cancel');
       SET_ALERT_PROPERTY(Alert_ID, v_AlertTitle, v_AlertText);
       n_AlertButton := SHOW_ALERT(Alert_ID);
      /* Now I can test the value of n_AlertButton for 1 or 2 to find out what button the user selected. */
      IF ( n_AlertButton = 1 ) THEN
         /* Do something, because the user selected 'OK' */
      ELSE
         /* It is assumed at this point that the user selected 'CANCEL' */
         /* Stop processing any further. */
         RAISE form_trigger_error;
      END IF;
    END:Hope this helps.

  • Surface Pro 3, Project Siena Apps, Need CSS for that form factor ASAP please

    Now that the Surface Pro 3 is out, I really don't like the black bars that appear above and below Project Siena Apps.
    I don't know enough to figure out how *I* can edit the CSS which currently states:
    #publishedCanvas {
        /* TASK: 73670: Add support for different form factors. */
        width: 1366px;
        height: 768px;

    but I'd like the code I should use (at my own risk, I know) to fix the CSS for all my apps.
    Please, MS folks or anyone?

  • Destination for Forms contents

    I am making a form for a website that will allow the user to send his/her email and comments to a nightclub managment so they can in turn send out information on parties to all who submit theyre emails. I was practicing the technique in a practice file. I was able to create the text fields as well as the submit button. My only issue and question is how do i set up the submit button properly so when the button is pressed the information is sent to a specific email address.
    Ill include the code and css.

    The form's action needs to point to a server side script that processes the form contents. For starters check with your host to see if they have a script that will work with your hosting plan. And please search this forum for 'form mail' for more details.

  • Cannot retrieve definition for form bean null

    Hi,
              I have a page jsp which contains a form. This form contains an action
              towards (page.do ).
              I configured struts-config.xml file in whom I put a configuration of
              action ( type=xxx.pageAction ) but not form because I have not need of
              it.
              During the execution it show that it tries to instantiate a bean of form
              corresponding to a configuration of action and post this error message
              " Root causes of ServletException javax.servlet.jsp. JspException:
              Cannot retrieve definition for form bean null "
              Could you indicate to me where is the problem ?
              Here is my configuration :
              < html:form action = " page.do " method = " post " >
              </html:form >
              <action path="/page"
              type="xxx.pageAction">
              <forward name="show" path="/page.jsp"/>
              </action>
              Thanks in advance
              Rachid.

    There's little reason to use Struts infrastructure to set this up since you have no model, and the controller aspect is well-defined (just go to "NewProject"!). You're basically providing a link from one page to another, akin to doing an <a href>, and you wouldn't use Struts to do a simple link :).
    I would just just use standard HTML.
    If you're okay with using Javascript, this is the simplest:
    <input type="button" onClick="document.location='NewProject'">
    Or you can use a standard HTML form, as you've basically done already:
    <form action="NewProject" method="get">
    <input type="submit" value="Create">
    </form>

  • HTML special characters in form input

    In my site I store form input in my database. Before I store
    the data, I parse out smart quotes, en dashes, and other extended
    special characters and convert them into HTHML quivalents such as
    &#8217;
    All is well and good until the user goes to edit their info.
    In my form these characters show up in my <input> tags as
    their long-winded HTML equivalents, such as &#8217; instead of
    a smart apostrophe.
    Is there any way to convert these back to the special
    characters from the HTML on the form input text fields so that
    users can edit them without being confused?
    Thanks.

    Hmmm, well I ran the MX 6.1 updater and installed the two hot
    fixes that had to do with null pointer exceptions and it still does
    not work.
    Here is the detailed error I'm getting, if it helps. Any more
    ideas? Thanks again for the help, I'm really stuck on this one...

  • Java Swing/AWT and FX is so old school! Give me HTML and CSS for GUI!

    Dear Java,
    I am a seasoned programmer and I feel it's time JAVA implements a GUI system where it uses HTML and CSS for the GUI. For the love of god just look at the interfaces you can make using HTML and CSS alone. I am a big fan of Java Swing and the recent GUI designer for FX is quite cool. But they are just not as simple as HTML and CSS. And JavaFX has some interesting requirements for the graphics.
    I know it is possible to use JavaFX and implement the WebView/WebDriver and make it load a HTML page, etc... but why go through all the trouble?
    Just imagine... if you make Java where it has powerful back-end to do what it does best and the HTML/CSS powered GUI on the front-end. It will make the lives of many developers much much easier.
    I am not sure whether a Swing designed GUI will be faster than a HTML designed GUI... but if you look at a traditional browser and how fast it renders HTML/CSS, I am sure if Java had a native Form where it uses HTML and CSS to render the GUI, Java will make the dreams of many programmers a reality.
    Make it happen!!!!

  • Event handler for STDIN input?

    Hi,
    This question will probably require a bit of context - I'm attempting to re-implement in java an application that's currently written in perl. The application is a server helper app that rewriters urls; it receives a request ID and a URL on stdin, does the necessary munging (which can require an external SOAP query), then returns the resulting rewritten URL.
    Since the results can be asynchronous due to the need for external queries to build the result, this is currently a multithreaded perl app implemented using perl's POE framework to register an event handler for stdin. That handler fires each time a line of input is received, then feeds the query to a thread pool manager (POE::Component::Pool::Thread, which is conceptually similar to the Executor frameworks). The thread returns the result as a callback registered to another function in the main thread, which then populates the query/result to a cache then outputs the result (with the original query ID) on stdout. Since stdin input and the result callbacks are event-driven, there's no while(true) main loop or other blocking mechanism in the main thread. Unfortunately, it's perl-ness is causing problems due to perl's threading implementation (three words: "copy on init"), so we need to reimplement in a language with a more robust threading implementation (preferably one with copy-on-write for shared objects). So, Java it is.
    So far everything's been good - Executor, Callables, and Futures work as I hoped they would for proper thread management, and the internal worker thread logic (XML processing, SOAP, regular expressions, etc) is proving rather simple to adapt. However, the main roadblock I'm hitting is that so far, I have not found a way to register any sort of event handler for STDIN input (or more specifically, InputStreamReader/BufferedStreamReader events). This could be due to search engine pollution - everything I see when I search for documentation on event listeners appears to be GUI-specific (buttons, menus, text areas/forms, etc). I'm just looking for a way to handle a line of STDIN, not a text area on a form.
    Any pointers in the right direction will be much appreciated!

    Maybe I need to rethink the design here...
    The main reason I used a callback in the original perl is that there's a large cache structure that gets checked before the thread dispatch, and only cache misses get pushed to a thread for processing. Callbacks from the threads will then add its results to the cache. Thanks to perl's thread model, when I attempted to make the cache a shared structure - in perl, you have to explicitly mark as "shared" variables that you want visible to all threads - the structure wound up getting copied to every thread, and this gave the app an unacceptable memory footprint. So the solution was to use a callback in the main thread to update the cache.
    I'm now thinking that if Java's thread model is a bit saner (i.e. a shared object doesn't get copied into every thread), then I could just have each thread update the cache, print its output to STDOUT directly, and avoid the need for the callback. I can then make my input loop simply a while() loop, waiting for the next input to dispatch. Sound sane?Yes I think so.
    There is some of this I still don't entirely understand. Your loop sounds better now but it sounds to me like the process is this.
    1) read from in
    2) call some stuff on the basis of what came in
    3) do work
    4) workers produce things
    5) things written back out
    6) read back in??
    If you're just going in/out then great. If you are going in/out/in then maybe some sort of PipedInput/Output Streams? It may well be that I got lost in your explanation in which case never mind.

  • Combine year + period as one dimension for data input

    Existing Hyperion Planning has 2 dimension to keep the year and period. Our users would like to have the data entry web form title to show the year+period e.g. Jan 2009 instead of two rows. Is it very difficult to build such a label or a dimension for data input?
    Thanks in advance.

    You could do this with custom JavaScript, although I have to say the work would outweigh the benefits.
    Why is it important that they see the year and month with a specific layout on a web input form? Are they printing the form, or using it as a "report"? If so, I would direct them to Financial Reporting, where it is much easier to format labels, etc. Forms shouldn't be used as reports as a general rule.
    - JakeI am referring to the web form. Because there are 12 months in a year and they need to input more than 10 years budget, the label on the web form is not easy to view from our end user point of view. They say that sometimes they will input data in the wrong year. So they prefer to the column label as Jan2009, Feb2009, etc instead.
    Thanks for your help.

    I'm afraid that I cannot get it. I had a look at the docs you suggested before posting, and still, no luck (...)
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(dialog, "Please input info");Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong and I cannot add the JDialog to the JOptionPane?Re-read the API and tutorial. JOptionPane is meant specifically to spare you from instantiating manually a JDialog. The showXxxDialog(...) methods do create a JDialog of their own, based on the contents supplied as arguments.
    In particular, using the 2-arguments variation showMessageDialog(Component parentComponent, Object message):
    - The first argument parentComponent is not be the dialog you want to display, but the component over which you want the dialog to appear. The most typical value are this or null.
    - The second argument is the "message" to display, but as described in the API, it can be a JComponent, that is, even a JPanel with child widgets (in a word, a JPanel containing the specific form you'd display in the dialog if you were writing the dialog manually).
    Again, at the risk of insisting densely, I'm only quoting the API an tutorial, so please read them attentively.

    Thinking about it further, I don't completely subscribe... Indeed it looks like a bad idea to make the OP wonder about dialog.setVisible() when JOptionPane enables him to forget about the hand-made dialog. I stand by my own advice ("JDialog" should not even appear in this code extract).

  • How to prompt for user input in PL/SQL

    How do I prompt for user input in PL/SQL?
    I am writing a piece of code where the user may choose, by clicking either of three buttons on an alert, to have the system assign a value to a variable, to input a value or to do neither?
    If the user chooses to input the value I want to update a set of database fields with the value.
    I have thought about showing a view where the value may be entered into a field displayed on that view. The value will be assigned to the variable by the user clicking a command button. The question I have in this case though, is whether, after the command button is clicked, control will be passed back to the code that called the view in the first place?

    But if you call your procedure in that button then yes 'control will be passed back to the code'...
