CSS Issues/Safari

Hi all -
I could use some help, if you could be so kind.
This site:
http://www.picturethisvideo.net/site/
renders correctly in all browsers except Safari. The left menu links appear but do not work. I've run the pages through the validators and they come out okay. In several attempts at changing and cleaning up code, the only thing I've done that makes the menus work is to change position:absolute to position:relative on a div that controls the position of several other boxes, including the menu.
I have no idea why changing the positioning makes the menus work and I'm not too keen on redeveloping the entire layout or using browser detection (although I might have to go there..). I developed this layout on based another site that works absolutely fine in Safari.
Any ideas? Any places I should look? I'm guessing that I'm having a "fussy" CSS Safari issue but I'm running out of ideas. I'm happy to supply some of the external CSS if that's helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Hello PTSWeb,
Welcome to Apple discussions; )
Thanks!
On Shiira it looks same as in Safari and true also on
Firefox.
Not sure I can help w /this.
It looks the same, but if you notice in Safari, the left green/white text does not work as a menu as it does in Firefox. It looks right, but the actual links into the other parts of the site do not work.
Are the buttons the large coloured squares one purple
the other green.
with yellow font/text?
Those middle links do work, it's just the links nested inside the one absolutely positioned DIV that aren't (which has been aggrevating.. sigh)
If so, did you check the buttons with Direct input I
just dragged the
Purple & yellow boxdirect input
HTML and in to the CSS
CSS Validator
It failed the CSS & HTML direct input.
It might have failed direct input because most of the style information is external. It does pass CSS/HTML validation using the URI/URL method.
You do the same test with the green & yellow
font/text box if they are the buttons, perhaps it can
help you correct them.
Does this help any? I hope so, if not perhaps someone
else will chime in.
Thanks for taking the time to look..it at least helped me explain the problem better.

  • Hierarchy Viewer CSS issue

    Hi,
    I have a Fusion Web Application in Jdeveloper 12C that gets the colors and skinning from a CSS file.
    When i add:
    af|dvt-hierarchyViewer
        background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(bottom, #FFFFFF 0%, #000000 300%);
        background-color: currentColor;
        background-attachment: scroll;
    to my CSS file and run my application, the Hierarchy opens with a grey colour but then it flashes back to the default light blue gradient of fusionFx-simple-v2.desktop as soon as it tries to fetch data.
    But if i change these settings on the Hierarchy itself, the colour changes to the grey and it stays grey.
    Any help with this will be appreciated

  • Firefox 3 CSS issues.

    Hello,
    We haven't seen any big issues either with the Firefox 3 beta's or Firefox 3 but now that FF 3 is out in the wild and no longer beta there are many more people using it. If you see any strange new CSS issue , in the Application Builder , SQL Workshop .. etc. I'd be much obliged if you posted it here.
    Here is a good example http://oracleinsights.blogspot.com/2008/06/oracle-apex-builder-css-fix-for.html even though Mark went so far as to figure out the fix , thanks Mark , don't feel the need to do that just a quick post on the page and/or circumstance you saw it would be great.

  • ADA Fixes for Robohelp: Frames & CSS Issues

    Fellow Robohelpers:
    I am attempting to resolve a set of major issues within Robohelp 8
    a) Frames are not properly named in Robohelp 8. Is anyone aware with which files to change (post generation or pre-generation of outputs) to rename Frames so the visually impaired user is clearly informed which frame they are on
    b)When you disable CSS, the navigational elements (frames) become a jumble. They do not function correctly (TOC, Index, Search) since Robohelp is heavily CSS dependent and hides objects (text fields, the various left hand navigational elments) behind CSS.
    Any reccomendations how to resolve these, or insights as to how to make Adobe aware of this! I have been reaching out to them about this for quite some time! I am hoping capturing a workaround for at least a) will make the tool one step closer to ADA compliance (screen reader compliance)
    Thanks
    Yaseen

    Hi,
    I guess your output is WebHelp. First, try to create 'Section 508 compliant' output or pure HTML output. This may solve quite a bit of your problems.
    If you don't want that output, this is what I think:
    a) RH nests a lot of frames, but start looking at the launch file, the csh.htm file, whskinfrmset01.htm and whskin_frmset010.htm. Note that if you change the names of frames, this may cause some scripts to stop functioning...
    b) As for the CSS issues, the only way to make that work is to manually sort out all problems and amend the javascripts.
    If you want to let Adobe know your wish, use the wish form: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=38

    Can someone help with this CSS issue....
    http://66.162.81.144/cms400min/default.aspx
    If you view the main page you will see that our background is
    2 shades of
    orange.. if you look at the line that divides those colors to
    the right and
    left you wil notice that the line is higher
    if you notice that it seems that there is another background
    on top of the
    first one..its the only thing i can think of..
    the only place where the image is being referenced is in this
    CSS style
    html, body
    min-height:100%;
    margin-bottom:1px;
    text-align:center;
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    background-image:url(images/Background-Color2.jpg);
    background-color:#F74902;
    background-position:center;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    Is there something wrong with the above CSS that could or
    would cause this?
    is it because im applying the image to both the HTML and
    BODY?
    ASP, SQL2005, DW8 VBScript, Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio
    2008

    You've attached the background to both the html and the body.
    I would do this:
    html, body {
    min-height:100%;
    margin-bottom:1px;
    body{
    text-align:center;
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    background-image:url(images/Background-Color2.jpg);
    background-color:#F74902;
    background-position:center;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    Having said that the image doesn't look any higher on the
    right than the
    left to me in Firefox. Is it just an optical illusion?

  • CSS and Safari

    I'm having problems with CSS and Safari. Class styles don't show up. They show up in Firefox. But Safari will not recognize them.
    What's wrong?

    There is something up I noticed it too - the work around I'm using at the moment is to split classes with the same tag into separate CSS and use @import in the main CSS file.
    For instance, suppose i have CSS for body and then body.myClass - Safari ignores "myClass" when specified unless it's saved into a separate CSS file.
    I first noticed this behaviour in 10.4.4

  • CSS Issue in Safari

    Hello there and hi fellow MAC users, in particular!
    I’m saying this because I’m dealing with an issue
    that seems to be exclusive to Apple’s Safari browser.
    I’m currently working on a site that makes quite some use of
    CSS. Unfortunately, the “bodytext” style in the
    inner-page won’t display properly in Safari although it
    displays fine in IE, Fire Fox, etc.

    Please help. Any ideas and suggestions would really be
    appreciated! Thanks a million!

    We figured it out. It was a sloppy line of code in the CSS.
    Thanks anyways!

  • Help needed with Safari CSS issues

    Hi Everyone
    I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post this in - but couldn't find anywhere more appropriate!
    My site, neilcauldwell.com, is suffering from two issues in Safari (it looks fine in IE6/7, FF and Opera);
    1. The 'Blog' page is supposed to show three 'windows' at the top for quick navigation between the main topics. However, these won't show in Safari 2 or 3 beta. Does anyone know how I fix this issue? Is it a problem with using overflow:hidden;? Is there not enough room for Safari to present all three boxes (they are packed in closely)?
    2. The footer is squashed into a narrow column on the left of the screen, but only in Safari 2 (3 beta doesn't have this issue). The div#footer has been given "float:left; overflow:hidden;" attributes. I've done some reading round and it looks likes the overflow:hidden; is the source of the problems. However, if I don't float the div#footer to the left, all the elements inside the footer are rendered correctly, but the div#footer doesn't wrap all the way round the containing elements and, therefore, appears only to be around 40px in height.
    If you can help solve these issues, you're a legend!

    You can use Edit...Update Thumbnail on selected images.  With 5K images, you'll probably want to do it in stages, perhaps one folder at a time.
    I don't think that Optimizing or Repairing the catalog will solve your problem, but I could be wrong about that....

  • CSS in Safari vs Explorer

    I have my website all coded and it looks great in all Mac
    browsers, but I've got spacing issues now in Explorer and possibly
    other browsers. The problem is with columns. In Safari everything
    aligns how I want it, but in Explorer the second (right) column
    starts at the level that the left column ends (within the right
    column). It looks like the second column needs to come up about
    100px, but then that changes the layout in Safari as well. Is there

    As Nick suggested you have a box model problem. This is
    because you throw IE
    into quirks mode by placing an HTML comment above the DTD
    Declaration.
    Remove the following (or move it *below* the DTD):
    <!-- Sage Weddings. Organic, local and sustainable wedding
    and event
    planning services in the Piedmont Triad area. Wedding and
    event planning
    services with an eco-conscience.
    -->
    Then let's see what happens.

The nav is created in CSS and someow I think its affecting the rendering of the green cell color. I've tested it in Safari & Firefox on Mac and IE and Firefox on PC. The issue only manifests in Firefox.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    D.

    You need to add a # to your colour code. See if that works
    <td width="300" align="left" valign="top" bgcolor="#5e997f"><div class="style3"><a href="#">Advise-In Solutions Home
