CSS - some visited links always same color while others change?

Question

i am using CSS and links like:
a { color: #00e; }
a:visited { color: #551a8b; }
a:hover { color: #06e; }
a:focus { outline: thin dotted; }
all fine here
but I have main menu navigation where i want the VISITED link color to always be the same - even after visited...
but the rest of the page can use = a:visited { color: #551a8b; }
just not the main menu ...
So how do i set that up?
BTW: Is it possible to have several css link setup code (as above) in the same page?

with class name menu
.menu a { color: #00e; }
.menu a:visited { color: #551a8b; }
.menu a:hover { color: #06e; }

and also with class name section1
.section1 a { color: #00e; }
.section1 a:visited { color: #551a8b; }
.section1 a:hover { color: #06e; }
