Hi,

Is there any Procedure where the input file will be csv and the procedure will dynamicall populate the table using EXTERNAL TABLE
Thanks and RegardsNo. I guess you need to understand what external tables are so do read the document.

  • Cannot get OUT parameter from stored procedure

    Hi,
    I am new to stored procedure programming. I wrote a simple java stored procedure as follows:
    package fvt;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class FVTProcedures
    extends COM.ibm.db2.app.StoredProc {
    public void addRecord(int id, String name, int status)
    throws SQLException {
    java.sql.Statement stmt = null;
    java.sql.Connection con = null;
    PrintWriter pw = null;
    try {
    status =3;
    pw = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter("c:/temp/fvtproc.txt"));
    pw.println("starting...");
    // get connection
    con =getConnection();
    pw.println("Got connection");
    stmt = con.createStatement();
    stmt.execute("INSERT INTO cmtest (id, name) values (" + id + ",'"+name+"')");
    pw.println("Inserted the record");
    if (!con.getAutoCommit()) {
    con.commit();
    pw.println("Committed the connection");
    catch (SQLException sqle) {
    pw.println(sqle.getMessage());
    catch (Exception e) {
    pw.println(e.getMessage());
    finally {
    status =2;
    pw.close();
    try {
    if (stmt != null) {
    stmt.close();
    catch (SQLException sqle) {}
    try {
    if (con != null) {
    con.close();
    catch (SQLException sqle) {}
    Then I use the following sql command to create this stored procedure, especially register status as OUT parameter.
    CREATE PROCEDURE addRecord (IN id INT, IN name VARCHAR(20), OUT status INTEGER)
    FENCED LANGUAGE JAVA EXTERNAL NAME 'fvt.FVTProcedures!addRecord' PARAMETER
    STYLE DB2GENERAL
    My java program calling this stored proc is as follows:
    import java.sql.*;
    import javax.sql.*;
    public class CallableStmtTest {
         COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2ConnectionPoolDataSource ds = null;
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              CallableStmtTest dt = new CallableStmtTest();
              try {
                   dt.test();
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace(System.out);
         public CallableStmtTest() {
              ds = new COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2ConnectionPoolDataSource();
              ds.setUser("username");
              ds.setPassword("password");
              ds.setDatabaseName("database");
    public void test() {
    java.sql.Connection conn = null;
    CallableStatement cs = null;
    String sql = "CALL ADDRECORD(?, ?, ?)" ;
    try {
    conn = ds.getPooledConnection().getConnection();
    conn.setAutoCommit(false);
    System.out.println("Got the connection");
    cs = conn.prepareCall( sql ) ; /* con is the connection */
    System.out.println("Callable statement is prepared");
    cs.registerOutParameter(3, java.sql.Types.INTEGER);
    cs.setInt(1, 1001 );
    cs.setString(2, "1001");
    cs.execute() ;
    System.out.println("Callable statement is executed, return status: "+cs.getInt(3));
    conn.commit();
    catch(SQLException sqle) {
    sqle.printStackTrace();
    finally {
    try {
    if (cs!=null) {cs.close();}
    catch (SQLException sqle1) {
    try {
    if (conn!=null) {conn.close();}
    catch (SQLException sqle1) {
    However, the out put is always
    Callable statement is executed, return status: 0
    while i expect to be
    Callable statement is executed, return status: 2
    Can anyone tell me what's wrong with that?
    thansk,
    JST

    public void addRecord(int id, String name, int status)
    throws SQLException {
    status =3;In regular java you are never going to see this value (3) outside of that method. Java doesn't work that way.
    So unless java inside the DB works really differently from regular java, you are going to have to pass something else.

  • Issue with IN parameter of Oracle Procedure returning two RefCursors...

    Hi all,
    I'm having a nightmare with an Oracle procedure that takes one input parameter and returns two RefCursors as outputs. I recently got help in this forum getting a procedure to work that took no inputs but returned two refcursors and that's still working fine. So, for my current issue I have a procedure defined as follows:
    PROCEDURE getQueueInfo(domainKey char, importQueues OUT ODPNet.refcur, exportQueues OUT ODPNet.refcur) IS
      BEGIN
        OPEN importQueues FOR SELECT
        source_key, source_applid,
        import_status(source_key) as status,
        time_added, time_processed
        FROM wm_import_source_header
        WHERE source_id = domainKey
        ORDER BY source_key DESC;
        OPEN exportQueues FOR SELECT
        h.source_key, d.source_applid,
        export_status(h.source_key) as status,
        d.source_wire_code, d.destination_wire_code, h.time_added,
        h.time_transmitted
        FROM wm_export_source_header h, wm_export_source_data d
        WHERE h.source_key = d.source_key
          and d.source_id = domainKey
        ORDER BY h.source_key DESC;
      END getQueueInfo;This is defined within a package called ODPNet as with my previous procedure and all works fine (I can execute within Oracle SQL Developer and it returns the expected results). Within my .NET application my code is as follows:
                try
                    using (OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection(connString))
                    using (OracleCommand comm = new OracleCommand())
                        comm.CommandText = "ODPNet.getQueueInfo";
                        comm.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
                        comm.Connection = conn;
                        OracleParameter domainKey = new OracleParameter();
                        OracleParameter importQueues = new OracleParameter();
                        OracleParameter exportQueues = new OracleParameter();
                        domainKey.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.Char;
                        importQueues.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.RefCursor;
                        exportQueues.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.RefCursor;
                        domainKey.Value = "UKBD72";
                        domainKey.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
                        importQueues.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
                        exportQueues.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
                        comm.Parameters.Add(domainKey);
                        comm.Parameters.Add(importQueues);
                        comm.Parameters.Add(exportQueues);
                        conn.Open();
                        comm.ExecuteNonQuery();
                        OracleDataReader dr1 = ((OracleRefCursor)importQueues.Value).GetDataReader();
                        OracleDataReader dr2 = ((OracleRefCursor)exportQueues.Value).GetDataReader();
                        if (dr1.HasRows)
                            while (dr1.Read())
                                result6 += dr1["source_applid"].ToString() + "<br>";
                        else
                            result6 += "No Rows";
                        if (dr2.HasRows)
                            while (dr2.Read())
                                result7 += dr2["source_applid"].ToString() + "<br>";
                        else
                            result7 += "No Rows";
                catch (Exception ex)
                    result6 = ex.ToString();
                }The value I want to submit as the IN parameter of the procedure is "UKBD72". but I'm really not sure how to apply this and then return my two refcursors into separate datareaders (except for the input parameter stuff the code above is exactly what I did with the other procedure that returned two ref cursors and still works fine). When I run this code I get no errors, I just get told that each DataReader has no rows returned, which shouldn't be right.
    Any help with this would be hugely appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Seb

    Sorry folks, after staring at this over and over, eventually going to sleep and coming back to it with some fresh eyes I realised I was just being a complete idiot - I was feeding the procedure different data in the .NET app than I was when testing in Oracle SQL Developer. Low and behold once I gave it the right data it worked!
    Silly me...

  • Pass a date parameter to Stored Procedure

    Hello friends,
    Can you help to pass a date parameter to Stored procedure from JSP. This is my code:
    In Oracle 9i I have this:
    PROCEDURE SP_EDORES(
    pfechaini IN hist_pol_reclama.hrc_fecha_contabilidad%Type, <-- This is a date field
    pfechafin IN hist_pol_reclama.hrc_fecha_contabilidad%Type, <-- This is a date field
    p_recordset OUT PKG_REP_CIERRE.cursor_type) AS
    In JSP have this:
    CallableStatement stmt = (CallableStatement)conn.prepareCall( "begin PKG_REP_CIERRE.SP_EDORES(?,?,?); end;" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter(3,oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleTypes.CURSOR);
    stmt.setDate(1,Date.valueOf("01-06-2005"));
    stmt.setDate(2,Date.valueOf("30-06-2005"));
    ResultSet rset = (ResultSet)stmt.getObject(3);
    while (rset.next()) {
    %>
    <TR>
    <TD ALIGN=CENTER> <%= rset.getString(1) %> </TD>
    <TD ALIGN=CENTER> <%= rset.getString(2) %> </TD>
    <TD ALIGN=CENTER> <%= rset.getString(3) %> </TD>
    <TD ALIGN=CENTER> <%= rset.getInt(4) %> </TD>
    </TR>
    <%
    The Stored Procedure returns de Result set, however I think does not recognized the date format because I need it with this format dd-mm-yyyy.
    Thanks in advance

    to use Date you will need the oracle package.
    u can try this other solution: use String, not Date
    CallableStatement stmt = (CallableStatement)conn.prepareCall( "begin PKG_REP_CIERRE.SP_EDORES(?,?,?); end;" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter(3,oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleTypes.CURSOR);
    stmt.setString(1,"01-06-2005");
    stmt.setString(2,"30-06-2005");
    ResultSet rset = (ResultSet)stmt.getObject(3);
    while (rset.next()) {
    %>
    if this don't work you can change your PL/SQL to get Strings and do the conversion with TO_DATE in the sql statement.

  • Need Parameter information from procedure.

    Hi Oracle Gurus,
    There is a scenario in which a Query is fetching records like procedure name , parameter description and parameter .
    What is expected is to find the parameter use in procedure and to know the table name , column name and API name , parameter is using.
    Thanks,
    Vikas

    Why? Surely it is far better to read the source code for that procedure, and analyse it to understand what it is doing and how it achieves that.
    Such "+documentation+" methods as you described, listing how parameters in the procedure signature are used in the procedure body is in my experience useless. It is fails to see the full picture of what the code does - and only seeing a small part of the picture does not help in comprehensively addressing code problems, or even understanding what the code does, and how it does it.

  • How do I pass the exact datetime parameter in a procedure.

    How do I pass the exact datetime parameter in a procedure.
    Hi All,
    I have a datetime problem which is driving me crazy.
    I need pass a datetime field as a parameter in an oracle procedure exactly as below with timestamp.
    Example: '6/01/2005 5:25:24 AM'
    SQL > exec myprod(‘value1’,’value2’,’value3’, to_date('6/01/2005 5:25:24 AM','dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));
    I get an error “INVALID MONTH”
    Next Changed to_date to to_char
    SQL > exec myprod(‘value1’,’value2’,’value3’, to_char('6/01/2005 5:25:24 AM','dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));
    I get a different error, “INVALID NUMBER”
    Next pass the datetime as it is.
    SQL > exec myprod(‘value1’,’value2’,’value3’, '6/01/2005 5:25:24 AM');
    I get an error “INVALID MONTH”
    Here is the my procedure.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE myprod (
    p_value1 varchar2,
    p_value2 varchar2,
    p_value3 varchar2 ,
    p_value4 date )

    va_currentdate DATE;
    BEGIN
    SELECT sysdate

  • Return a parameter through stored procedures

    Hello Experts
    I want to return parameter through stored procedures so as to ensure that the application has been executed properly.
    My source message format is
    <StatementName5>
    <storedProcedureName action=u201D EXECUTEu201D>
      <table>Summarize_prc</table>
    <empid  [isInput=u201Dtrueu201D] [isOutput=true] type=SQLDatatype>val1</empid>

    Do i need to put some extra parameters for return values from the stored procedures?
    What would be the response message format to return the parameters from stored procedure.
    Thanks
    Sabyasachi

    Hi,
    If you wants to read the return values from stored procedure, the scanario should be designed as Sync.
    The format looks like thsi
    <Message Type Name>
          <STATEMENTNAME_response>
                      <Field1> </Field1>
       </STATEMENTNAME_response>
    </Message Type Name>

  • How to pass int array as an IN parameter to PLSQL Procedure

    Hi,
    How to pass int array in java to a stored procedure througn jdbc
    and what type of data type I should declare to this IN parameter
    in PLSQL Procedure.
    Thanks,
    Simi

    Hi,
    The best way to do what you want depends on what you want.  Start by describing what you need to do.  It's best to post some sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statments) and what results you want from that sample data.  (See the forum FAQ: https://forums.oracle.com/message/9362002)
    If you have ideas about how to do the job (e.g., populating a temporary table) it can be helpful to include those, too, but distinguish clearly between WHAT you need to do and HOW you might do it.
    As Bencol suggested, a SYS_REFCURSOR might be the best way to pass back the results.
    Since you didn't post your table, or even describe what you wanted to do with it, I'll illustrate using scott.emp, which is probably on your system.
    Say you wanted a procedure that took a DATE as an argument, and returned a some designated columns (empno, ename and hiredate in the example below) for all employees hired on or after the given DATE.  You might write a procedure like this:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE  hired_since
    (   start_date  IN   DATE
    ,   out_data    OUT  SYS_REFCURSOR
    AS
    BEGIN
        OPEN out_data FOR
            SELECT  empno, ename, hiredate
            FROM    scott.emp
            WHERE   hiredate  >= start_date;
    END  hired_since;
    SHOW ERRORS
    You can test it in SQL*Plus like this:
    VARIABLE   c REFCURSOR
    EXEC  hired_since (DATE '1982-01-01', :c);
    PRINT :c
    The output I got from this test was:
         EMPNO ENAME      HIREDATE
          7788 SCOTT      19-APR-87
          7876 ADAMS      23-MAY-87
          7934 MILLER     23-JAN-82

    Hey Experts,
      Is it possible to pass TABLE as the output parameter in stored procedure.
    eg
    create procedure spGetData
    @tableName as TABLE(intValue INT NOT NUL)
    as

    You can use OPENQUERY or OPENROWSET, as mentioned above, to make stored procedure results table like. There are
    some limitations with these methods:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188427.aspx
    In OPENQUERY this-sql-server-instance can be used instead of a linked server name. It requires setting data accces server option:
    exec sp_serveroption @server = 'PRODSVR\SQL2012'
    ,@optname = 'DATA ACCESS'
    ,@optvalue = 'TRUE'

  • Passing a Parameter to the Procedure and changing it in the Procedure

    Hi all,
    I am trying to pass a parameter to a procedure like this.
    PROCEDURE FLASH_PHY
    (date_begin IN DATE, date_end IN DATE)
    IS
    I am trying to do SELECT and INSERT based on the date range passed in the procedure as mentioned above. And I am trying to do something like this.
    SELECT NVL(sum(charges),0),count(summary_balances_id)
    INTO lnu_charges_6months,c_summary
    FROM SUMMARY_BALANCES
    WHERE period_begin BETWEEN ADD_MONTHS((date_begin), -6) -- AND ADD_MONTHS((date_end), -1);
    UPDATE summary_balances
    SET cummulative_charges_6mo = lnu_charges_6months;
    how should I do this parameter change. Right now if I use this select statement than it does not return anything as the parameter is passed on the procedure level. I am under the impression that when you pass a parameter to the procedure like this you can't change it into the procedure.
    PLEASE GUIDE. Thanks a bunch. I really appreciate it.

    From what I understand your variables that are passed into the
    procedure can be manipulated as local variable to the procedure.
    Here is my interpretation of what your attempting to do:
    create or replace procedure A (x in number) IS
    yes varchar2(3) := 'No';
    begin
    dbms_output.put_line('Start value for yes:'||yes);
    select 'yes' into yes from dual where x+1 = 2;
    dbms_output.put_line('End value for yes:'||yes);
    end;
    Call the procedure called "A" passing in a "1".
    EG:
    BEGIN
    A(1);
    END;
    Does this answer your question?

          v_str_array             IN OUT NOCOPY str_array
       )but you should learn about possible side-effects if there is an error while executing the procedure. In short words: if you don't use NOCOPY and an error occurs during execution of process_array procedure then your varray is not changed - all chages to the value of your varray are 'rolled back'. If you use NOCOPY then it depends...

  • REF CURSOR as IN parameter to stored procedure

    Currently, ODP.NET supports REF CURSOR parameter as OUT parameter only.
    Based on the project requirements it is necessary to pass
    multiple records to the stored procedure.
    In this case REF CURSOR as IN parameter is useful.
    What are the plans to implement REF CURSOR as IN parameter to stored procedure?
    What is the work around in case it is necessary to pass several different
    record types as arrays to stored procedure?

    ODP.NET does not limit REF Cursor parameters to IN parameters. This is a known PL/SQL limitation.
    An excerpt from Application Developer's Guide:
    "If you pass a host cursor variable to PL/SQL, you cannot fetch from it on the server side unless you also open it there on the same server call".
