CSWP missing tabs in query builder
We have an on-premise SP2013 Enterprise install and a rather odd situation with CSWP. When I use the Change query button in the web part I only see 2 tabs, basics and refiners. The basics tab has no link to advanced mode and doesn't have the Select a query
dropdown either.
Anyone ever see this behavior before?
Thanks
Hi,
As I understand, you inserted content search web part, when you change query, the build your query dialog only has two tabs.
I wonder does it work well before. Please try re-create a content search web part and see if the issue still occurs. If this is an new install environment, and it does not work ever. Then you might have to rebuild your server.

Filtering Date in Query Builder Condition Tab
Hi,
How Do i use the condition Tab in Query Builder to filter a date a column?
For example, I used < to_date('1998-01-01','yyyy-mm-dd'). But this condition gives me a syntax error.
Anyone has ideas?
Thanks
rkingmduIs this related to Oracle BI Publisher?
You should be able just to edit the query correctly in the text - you ddon't need to use the SQL query builder.
The query is passed through so in general you should use the syntax of HJyperion.
{} has a special (I think undocumented) meaning in BI Publisher so {} could potnetially cause problems.

Font too small on Query Builder conditions tab in BP1
A new feature in 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 is that on the Query Builder's Conditions tab, the default font in the Alias and Conditions columns is about a 6 point courier, and is almost too small to read. Any suggestions on how to increase the size of that font? I know I can alter my browser settings, but that just messes up other web pages that are more intelligently designed.
Interesting. You must have something on your Query Builder screen(s) that I don't have. There's nothing in the bottom right hand corner of any of my four QB screens/tabs.
Are you working with the BP1 patch set? -
Re: Some Tables are missing: Query Builder
Thank you!!! I had the same problem and this (table.xml) has helped, I can now see the tables in the left.
I'm also not able to see any tables in the "Query Builder". I have tried to explore to see if the fix is similar with no luck. Does the Query Builder have a simlar fix?
Thanks!!!
MaxMax,
I branched this query to start a new thread. While the thread: Some Tables are missing did help you see your tables, much of the discussion happened last year and was not about the query builder.
In the query builder for the current 1.1.2 build, you can only see tables you own. In the next update, you'll also be able to see tables you have select access to.

Query Builder - Format options missing??
When creating a Data Model with Query Builder I have no problems selecting tables and the columns that I want from those tables, but when I go the Conditions tab and try to select a Function for a column the drop down list is always the same regardless of the datatype (COUNT, COUNT DISTINCT, INITCAP, LENGTH, LOWER, LTRIM, RTRIM, TRIM, UPPER) I was expecting to see different Functions depending on the datatype as the help states . . .
Available argument functions include:
1. Number columns - COUNT, COUNT DISTINCT, AVG, MAXIMUM,. MINIMUM, SUM
2. VARCHAR2, CHAR columns - COUNT, COUNT DISTINCT, INITCAP, LENGTH, LOWER, LTRIM, RTRIM, TRIM, UPPER
3. DATE, TIMESTAMP columns- COUNT, COUNT DISTINCT
It seems to think that all my coulmns are VARCHAR2, CHAR columns which they are not. I'm on version 10.1.3.4.0. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
- JoeQuery Builder is a crutch tool. Small, lightweight, but limited. It does not have every inline function you see in the SQL reference guide. If you need more, then you have to do more on your own.

2 Bugs - Apex 4 - Websheets & Query Builder
Hello,
Just to make someone from the Apex Dev team aware if they aren't already.
I've come across what i think is a bug in Websheets where if you create a data grid or interactive report and then save a Named Copy of the report (so that the select list appears at the top of the report/grid with the saved report names). When you then click on any of the drop down menus like Actions, Manage, or any of the drop down tabs at the top of the page (Page, Data, Annotations, Administration) the background of the menu goes transparent making it really difficult to read the options in the menu if there is some text behind it.
If you then delete the saved report so that you just have the one version, and refresh the page the problem dissapears. I've only found this issue when using Internet Explorer 8 (not sure about earlier versions), as far as I am aware this doesn't happen in Firefox or Chrome.
Also if you log into Apex using Google Chrome and go to the Query Builder under SQL Workshop. If you click and add a table with quite a few columns (10 or more) the scroll bar is missing down the right hand side which means there is no way to select/view all of the columns in that table.
Thanks.Better make that 3 bugs.
Create a data grid from spreadsheet data. There must be a very small limit on the data you can actually upload using this thing, I just tried to upload 50 rows of data containing 12 columns (not exactly a massive amount). The data is a fictional list of employees, I have pasted the tab delimited data below.
It fails, but rather than giving an error message like "Too Much Data" it just clears out the text area and says "Data Must Be Provided". Also it doesn't seem to say anywhere what the limit on pasted data is.
I'd really appreciate it if somebody could respond to this ticket to let me know that these issues have been acknowledged.
Thanks.

Query Builder won't apply chosen date to the where clause
Does anybody know why when I chose a date field, in the where clause, when using Query Builder, it won't actually write the chosen date to the actual query?
If I select the "View Query" tab, no date shows up. Also if I press the "Run Report" button in the "View Result" tab, I get this error:
"An error was encountered performing requested operation: ORA-00936: missing expression"
This is because actual date data is missing.
After I hit the "Apply" button, I have to manually type the date data.
I thought this was a bug of the previous version, but I just installed version 1.5.4 and I have no different result.
Thanks.I just wanted to add my name to the list of people having this issue.

Query Builder problem - query results from previous query
Hi.
I have a 100% repeatable problem in Oracle Query Builder (Version 6.0.7.1.0) where some rows from the results of a previous query appear in the results for the current query. The queries being run are saved in *.brw files. If I close down Query Builder completely between queries, there is no problem. If I run one query, export the results to a CSV file, close that query and then open a second query, when I run the second query there are rows in the results that shouldn't be there (they are remnants of the first query). Interestingly the total number of rows for the second query is correct, so the same number of rows are missing as shouldn't be there. Anyone come across this before? Problem is repeatable for different database users and on different computers.
regards,
Martinas i posted earlier .. queryBuilder as a stand alone product is neither supported nor available anymore. it is only available as part of the report data wizard.
thanks,

Visual Query Builder Doesn't Work
I'm using the ColdFusion extensions to Flex Builder 3
(3.0.1.205647), and I can't use the Visual Query Builder. This is a
fresh ColdFusion8 install. I have RDS configured, I even test the
connection successfully.
I can use the RDS DataView and see the databases, click on
cfartgallery, for example, and show the 'art' table contents. No
problem. Then I click the 'Visual Query Builder' button, and
nothing happens. The query builder does not show.
It's not a big deal until I try and run the CF/Ajax app
wizard, and editing the master page is supposed to open up the
query builder...same problem. Even here it won't open. So, I can't
edit anything or use the wizards at all. I don't get any error
message, it just doesn't do anything when I click the button.
Anyone else have this problem? Is there some setting I am
missing or have to configure after a fresh install in the CF
administrator?Using vista?

Query Builder - How to create a link between tables with many fields?
I have many fields in my tables. When the query builder loads the tables, the tables are expanded to accomodate all the fields. Suppose I want to link Table A's Customer ID (the first field in Table A) wiith Table B's Customer ID (the last field in Table B). How can I do that if the last field in Table B are not visible in the screen?
Currently, I create a link in Table A's customer with a random field in Table B. Then I edit the link to create a proper condition. Is there a more efficient way to do this?
Thanks.
Edited by: woro2006 on Apr 19, 2011 9:40 AMHi woro2006 -
Easiest way is to grab Table A's title bar & drag Table A down the page until the columns you want to link are visible.
FYI, there is an outstanding bug
Bug 10215339: 30EA1: MISSING THE 2.1 RIGHT CLICK OPTIONS ON DATA FIELDS TO CREATE A LINK
to add a context menu on the field for this. That is, Link {context field} to > {other data sources} > {fields from that source}
It is being considered for 3.1, but I have no idea where it will end up in the priority queue.

Using dimension attributes in the Query Builder Bean
All...
I am developing an HTML client based tool using the JSP tags. I wish to create a report that selects the appropriate dimension value based upon an attribute.
But...
Using the query builder I can not select dimension values based upon dimension attributes. Is this possible? The only use I have found for the attributes is when I am sorting my selected diemsnion values.
Thanks in advance
Dylan.1. Java Client QueryBuilder has support for selecting dimension members based on an attribute.
To use this functionality, go to Dimensional Panel -> Conditions tab. Drill on Match group of conditions. The attribute condition appears as the last available condition, but only for dimensions that have attributes.
To test this, use BIBDEMO schema supplied with BI Beans and look at conditions for Product dimension.
2. If you wish to display dimension attributes and their values in the HTML client UI,
here is how you can retrieve attributes and their values for a dimension:
(e.g. for Product dimension in BIBDEMO)
String dimensionID = "MDM!D_BIBDEMO.PRODUCT";
String hierarchyID = null;
MDDimension dimension = metadataManager.getDimensionByUniqueID(dimensionID);
MDHierarchy hierarchy = dimension.getDefaultHierarchy();
if (hierarchy != null)
hierarchyID = hierarchy.getUniqueID();
// Retrieve all the attributes for this dimension
MDAttribute[] attributes = dimension.getAttributes();
if (attributes != null && attributes.length > 0)
String attributeID = null;
AttributeListStep attrStep = null;
Selection sel = null;
MetadataMap map = new MetadataMap(new String[] {MetadataMap.METADATA_VALUE});
for (int i=0; i<attributes.length; i++)
// Get the unique ID for the attribute
attributeID = attributes.getUniqueID();
// Create and evaluate an AttributeListStep
attrStep = new AttributeListStep(dimensionID, hierarchyID, attributeID);
sel = new Selection(dimensionID);
sel.setHierarchy(hierarchyID);
sel.addStep(attrStep);
// Evaluate the AttributeListStep and get the DataAccess
DataAccess da = query.createQueryAccess().getDataAccess(sel, map);
// Walk the DataAccess and get the attribute values
if (da != null)
int extent = da.getEdgeExtent(DataDirector.COLUMN_EDGE);
for (int i=0; i<extent; i++)
// Get the attribute value
strValue = (String)da.getMemberMetadata(DataDirector.COLUMN_EDGE, 0, i, MetadataMap.METDATA_VALUE);

SQL developer 3.0 - Few Query Builder issues
Hi All,
I have just started using SQL Developer 3.0 so have not fully browsed thru all of the available options in SQL Developer. I have been trying to work on creating and editing sql statements using Worksheet and Query Builder.
I am working on to test this tool so I can give it to the users for them to try and use it - they used to work on the old Query Builder 6.0.7....since it is already de-supported long back to work against 11g database, I am hoping to tell them to use SQL developer 3.0 instead.
Hence, if an user doesn't know how to write a sql statement, he/she would try to do the same using Query Builder.
So, the following questions are more aligned towards a normal user who would try to create a query in the Query Builder window, instead of directly typing a sql statement in the Worksheet window.
1) How to establish/create a relationship between tables after you have dragged down the tables into the Query Builder window? - i tried but couldn't get any options!.
2) Sometimes I see 'Connection closed' error when i try to run a query. How to refresh the connection without opening a new Connection tab?
- I tried this but evertytime it opens up a new connection tab, while the old tab is still present.
3) Columns in the Expression field in Query Builder window can ONLY be displayed in the result set, if the 'output' box on the extreme left of the 2nd section in Query Builder window is checked.
Now when i try to check the output box for an expression (with few aggregate functions), the 'Grouping' check box automatically gets checked, which when run throws an ORA-00934 error: group function is not allowed here...but when I de-select the 'Grouping' check box, the 'output' box also gets un-checked!.
How to solve this out?
Please let me know the resolutions of the above - much appreciated.
With Regards,
Pamir

1.5.4 Query Builder Bug?
I was testing the Query Builder with SQL developer version 1.5.4. It seems to have problems when trying to add the same table twice to the query.
Example was to use the employees table from HR schema to create a query showing employees and managers. When clicking the second time on the employees table then the query builder did just "hang" there indefinitly.
Did I miss some important step like giving alias names to the tables?There's an accepted enhancement request for this at the Echange. Go vote to add weight for future implementation.

I am trying to create a new test report in BI Publisher.
When I was testing the connection in Admin/JDBC panel. It says Connection established Successfully. But When I try to open a query Builder , It throws me the following error.
"Could not load schema information. Please make sure that this connection is active."
Any thoughts ?
p.s I am behind proxy. (Changed oc4j.cmd already).
Thanks in Advance.Dear All:
Well, I hope the solution below could solve your problem.
1. Goto the Admin tab from your Oracle BI Publisher Enterprise.
2. Goto the JDBC Connection, there you'll find some of your JDBC predefined connections.
3. Click on the Data Source where you find these error.
4. Replace the jdbc:oracle:thin:@HOST:PORT:SID with HOST, PORT, and SID (e.g. jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ORCL).
5. Enter username and password from the schema (e.g. u:HR p:HR for HR Schema).
6. Test the connection, make sure that it is successfully connected. Otherwise you should check the connection detail.
7. Done. Back to your query builder.

Adrian
