I had the same problem. This is what I did to fix it. I reinstalled the software and drivers.:robotwink:Make sure you don't have any anti-spyware programs running while you reinstall. I had to disable my WebRoot SpySweeper. It was blocking some of these drivers from being loaded. Good luck:robotvery-happy:

Hello,
I have a SB Li've! audio card and don't have anymore my installation CD; I get a message error from the CREATIVE MIXER: CtDevcon.dll error.
What do I need to do to reinstall my MIXER?
Thanks a lot!- Enrico

Reinstall it. You should find Mixer update from Download section (CT Support) --> isn't the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG) the right one? Mixer comes w/ that installation.
Also, if you need the CD --> http://badboy.filefront.com/

Hi!SB Li've Value would not install with XP, tried the original CD tried the download from CReati've Website etc... but could never get Creative mixer and creative Recorder to work. Finally after trying a slew of things with the help of CT Support I pulled out my Card and sent the specs in and was directed to buy a new CD which supports XP.
Finally got it and the install went perfect.
Then started Creative recorder and it was also working perfect.
However when I try to start Creative Surround Mixer I get (error: ctdevcon.dll has returned an error. mixer will now exit).
Does anyone know how to get by this error?.

Hey all, I have the same problem as everyone else Stupid ctdevcon.dll wont let my mixer work!
I got the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe and stuff started working again, but it also lagged the crap
out of my 2.4ghz p4 with 52ddr, to the point where mp3s were distorting (slowing down,
stretching) if i listened to em while doing ANYTHING else. Heck, even just sittin here running winamp
the mp3s would stretch and distort like the card was having a problem streaming the thing from
my HD.. It had never done that till i got the "newest drivers" in that pack... so i had windows run a
search for the newest drivers in its database.. it finds them, installs them and my sound is fixed.
its perfect again... problem is, now the mixer and recorder dont work again! Like many of the others
here I use WinXP and the card is a SB: Li've! 5..

• How to Install Latest SB Live Drivers Onto New Install of

I upgraded to a new motherboard and CPU and have just installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP on the machine. I haven't plugged it in yet, but I will be installing a SB Li've Value CT4830.
In preparation for installing this card, I tried to download the latest drivers, but the web site says that in order to install the latest driver, I must already have the driver from July 2002 installed.
Where can I get the July 2002 driver? It can't be on my original CD since I bought the card before 2002.
I am trying to do a minimal install of drivers, and do not need or want to install any non-essential appliction software, unless its necessary to get surround sound.
If it matters, XP Service Pack 2 is installed.Message Edited by anthonyanthony on -25-2004 02:25 PM

Same thing here with me. I recently got a new system but kept my Soundblaster
card (Li've Platinum 5.) and with it a fresh install of XP SP2. I knew I would
have to use the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe driver update because the origi-
nal CD could not be used (same as you). So I was doing a fresh install of the
Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe with no pre-existing Soundblaster stuff installed (save
for the XP Soundblaster drivers).
So here is what happened:
* ran Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe; did the typical install
* sound is ok -- however, I ran the diagnostics and the mixer, soundfonts, and
one other one (the last item, forgot which one it was) failed
* tried to start the mixer to verify the mixer failure and the familiar "CTDevcon.dll
has failed" message came up
I have had this happen to me before in trying to install the Li'veDrvUni-Pack and I did
manage to get everything working again but I forget how. I believe it involved running
the CTzapxx program which I did try but XP keeps on putting in the default Sound-
blaster drivers after rebooting. I think this might be the problem (the fact that the
default drivers keep on getting installed) but I can't remember how to get around it.
Moderators/experts/technicians -- any ideas?

• Live Value! problems AGAIN

Hello, and im here again heh,
my soundblaster li've has , as long as i've known soundcards, given me issues driver wise
i dont really know how to explain, i just know that errors always pop up, its just the way it is, right now i installed the disc, and updated through the driver page through the UK creative drivers site, and now Emu0kx Audio (df80) -- i did this because someone mentioned it would work and it did before
but now, firstly i have no stereo mix or (what you hear) in the recording and the programs creative provides such as creative surround mixer gives errors such as "CtDevcon.dll has returned an error. mixer will now exit"
or.. creative audio hq "cannot initialize audio driver. reinstall audio driver"
when i bought this card, it was top of the line, and it hurts me to know that im havin such issues
could someone link me to a driver that actually works fine, or some help? thanks

Hi!
1. There will be "standoffs" used to keep the motherboard free from the chassis - only 6 of them should be used and only on the places where the screws are. Other standoffs may be in contact with the mobo in places where they should not be an they may short (parts of) the board; this is a quite common reason for having problems with sound. When you return home, please check that there are only 6 of these standoffs used.
2. I f the SB card worked in your old computer we will assume that it is ok.
3. 300W is not much ... At least some of the 300W PSUs on the AOPEN site will only deliver 14A on the 3.3V rails and that might be a bit short ... Bas wrote that he is aware of problems with AOPEN PSUs also. I recommend that you first look into this possibility.
Good Luck! )

• SB Live! Value, big problem

Hi all,I've got a very big problem with sound. I have no sound on my computer, not at all. I have been reinstalling the drivers about 20 times, but it doesn't help. The speakers are plugged in, everything seems to be right, but I have no sound. It worked all perfectly till 2 days ago. I haven't installed SP2 or anything,?it was already here when it worked. But?at once there came an error and there was no sound anymore. I had no sound, so I deleted the drivers and installed them again. Since then, nothing works anymore. Reinstalls, repairs, nothing works. Also when I start the mixer, there is a ctdevcon.dll error. When I start the audioHQ : ''cannot initialise audio driver, please reinstall''. Diagnostics results : everything passes, except Mixer Driver, Soundfont Setting, and Mixer Settings Check. Please, I'm really frustrated, help me!?Sorry for my bad English,,,?
ps.
when I click on ''Begin Fix'' at Diagnostics?it says that some files are missing or having problems, please reainstall. But when I reinstall, it happens again.Message Edited by element93 on 05-7-200702:55 AM

Try these uninstall/reinstall steps from this Knowledgebase article SID72. Hope it helps you.

Hey There,
I had the same problem. I am running Windows ME. What I did, was to uninstall the home program and then install just the items to make the sound card work. I installed:Audio HQ, Restore Defaults, Diagnostics, Surround Mixer, Online Manual, User Guide. I did not worry about all the other bells and whistles. It has been working fine since. I hope this hel

• Problem with Surr. Mi

Greetings. At me a problem with Surround Mixer. At me system 5. when next day I have included a computer, for me worked 2 speakers. I rewrote and anew wrote down drivers and Creative programs. But does not help. When I start Surround Mixer it to me writes a mistake " CtDevcon.dll has returned an error " what to do? 2 columns work only and subwoofer at all does not work. Help

You don't necessarily need the receipt to get a repair/replacement. I've just done it and all they asked for was the serial number and the date of purchase (I do have the receipt but it wasn't asked for).

• Sound card er

I have installed the creative sound blaster li've 5.! in my Win XP P IV .8 28mb RAM pc. The creative 5. channel speakers are working fine. But when I try to run creative surround sound mixer I get the error msg "CTDEVCON.DLL HAS RETUNRED AN ERROR" also when I try to run AUDIO HQ I get the msg. "COULD NOT FIND THE AUDIO DRIVER. PLEASE RE-INSTALLE" I have reinstalled the software but the problem persists. Please help...

Hi
On the Toshiba page you will find the Registry Patch 080627. Install it!
Furthermore you have to install the MS patches KB835221 and KB888111 before installing the sound driver!!!!
The downloaded sound driver package contains the KB888111 patch too.
Its in MSHDQFE/Win2K_XP/US folder.
KB835221 can be found somewhere in the web just google.
Note; you could also try to install the Realtek sound driver which you can download from the Realtek page directly!

• Running workbook from .bat fails to start application missing CORE40 dll

I have been running several workbook via windows task scheduler / vbscript &/or bat files.
I now have a new box which I access thru Remote Desktop Connection, so I can run all these automated updates without having my screen blinking everytime a shedule workbook starts.
If I click on the actual Discoverer icon, or the discoverer workbook shortuct, all works well.
If I click on the .bat file, or try to run the workbook via the cmd , it gives me the following error:
DIS4USR.EXE – Unable To Locate Component
“this application has failed to start because CORE40.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”
The dll is under c/orant/bin/core40.dll, which is where I've read it should be, and it works fine in my regular box...
Please help! URGENT :)
Thanks!

Hello
Check the PATH environment variables for the machine you are on and the one you are connecting to.
You might not have Discoverer's objects in the PATH.
Another possibility is that you have more than one piece of ORACLE software on the machine and you may need to also set the ORACLE_HOME within the BAT file.
Best wishes
Michael

• I was updating Firefox from version 6 to version 7, after updating I tried to open Firefox and the message I got is this: This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found. How can I fix this?

I was updating Firefox to the newest version 7.0.1 from version 6.0.2 I think it was, I clicked the restart Firefox button that always comes up after updating. It started updating and then Firefox never restarted like it was supposed to after it was done updating. I then tried to open Firefox and it told me "This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found." I did have Firefox crash on maybe about 30 minutes or so earlier which bothered me because I have been using Firefox for years and never had it crash on me before but I didn't think much of it at the time it happened because I was able to go back onto Firefox and finish what I had been working on. A while later I checked for updates and updated. The first time I tried to update it didn't work though so I had to shutdown Firefox and reopen Firefox and start the update a second time. It was after the second time that when I tried to open Firefox I got that message about failing to start because xul.dll can't be found. I filed a crash report when my Firefox crashed. This would have been around 1am-2am in the morning that Firefox first crashed and then wouldn't allow me to open it after updating. I have a DELL laptop running the Windows XP operating system but the laptop is probably at least 6 or 7 years old. The laptop will no longer charge so I always have to have it plugged into an outlet. Both my laptop hard drive and my external hard drive give me messages that I am running out of disk space on my hard drive. I bought this laptop 6 or 7 years ago second hand so it could be even older. In short it's a piece of crap and it gives me all kinds of issues but I currently can't afford a new one, but I have never had any problems with Firefox and I use Firefox more than any other aspect of my laptop so it's really really bothering me. May you please help me fix it?

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?
