Ctxhx temporary files not removed?

Hi,
I am using Context in a 8.1.6.0.0 database.
The documents that are indexed are primarily acrobat files.
Now I have found many thousands of zero byte files in /var/tmp ,
in a format like "AcroAAAZcaqXn" and all created by user oracle.
To me this looks like temporary files not cleaned up, is this
a known problem with ctxhx?
regards /Curt

To quote the Pacman page in Archwiki:
Note: pacman will not remove configurations that the application itself creates (for example .dot files in the home folder).
Configurations (system wide and not current user related) are also stored in /etc. Regarding these config files, this is what the pacman page in Archwiki has to say:
Pacman saves important configuration files when removing certain applications and names them with the extension: .pacsave. To delete these backup files use the -n option
User specific config files, which are created in $HOME are left to the user to clean up

  • Edit Locally - Temporary file not removed after check in

    Hello,
    I am editing a Word document Abc.doc with Edit Locally (using ActiveX). After having done editing the document, I save the document and close MS Word. Then I check in the document by clicking on the button "Check In Now" in the portal screen. The document is checked in KM. At this point, the temporary file should have been removed automatically. However, the temporary file in my local drive under the folder Temp/docservice still remains and the file is now renamed to Abc.doc_send (instead of Abc.doc).
    Does anyone know why the temporary file remain ? Is there any configuration need to be done so that the temporary file is automatically removed once the editing is done and check in.
    We are using Portal 6.0 SP 16.
    Many thanks in advance.

    (1) If you have a local server, did you try to build locally, deploy locally and test.
    (2) After checking-in your changes, did you activate, transport?
    (3) Did the Basis team deploy the changed components to the target server (development server in your case)? If you want auto-deploy, you can set so in the NWDI Transport Studio settings.

  • Server has not enough memory for operation (Some .rpt files not removing from Temp folder )

    We have web application developed in ASP.NET 4.0 ftramework and published on IIS. And we are using 13_0_8 version of CR.
    I am creating report files and exporting these as pdf. And I am disposing streams and report documents at the end. Initially, there wasn't any problem and temporary files which are created by CrystalReport were deleting all. But, now requests to the web application increeased to about 50.000 in a day and now some .rpt files are staying in Temp folder and I can't delete them. After recycling application pool all files are removed by IIS. Then, after 1 or 2 hours new .rpt files are creating in Temp folder. And after somewhile, application throws Server has not enough memory for operation. And, IMHO the reason is temp files. Here is the code I am using to export report as pdf.
    Questions:
    1. Is the reason of this exception is temp files in Temp folder?
    2. What is wrong in that code?
    ReportDocument report = DownloadPDF.GetReport(id);
       MemoryStream stream = (MemoryStream)report.ExportToStream(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat);
       Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";
       Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + id+ ".pdf");
      report.Close();
      report.Dispose();
       try
       Response.BinaryWrite(stream.ToArray());
       Response.End();
       catch (Exception)
       finally
      stream.Flush();
      stream.Close();
      stream.Dispose();

  • Empty/underutilized log files not removed

    I have an application that runs the cleaner and the checkpointer explicitly (instead of relying on the database to do it).
    Here are the relevant environment settings: je.env.runCheckpointer=false, je.env.runCleaner=false, je.cleaner.minUtilization=5, je.cleaner.expunge=true.
    When running the application, I noticed that the few dozen log files have been removed, but later (even the cleaner was executed at regular intervals), no more log files were removed.
    I have run the DbSpace utility on the environment and found the following result:

    I could not see anything fundamentally different between the log messages when log files were removed and when they were not. The DbSpace utility confirmed that there are plenty of log files under the minimum utilization, so I can't quite explain while the log file removal stopped all of a sudden.
    Any help would be appreciated (JE version: 3.3.75).

    Hi Bertold,
    My first guess is that one or more transactions have accidentally not been ended (committed or aborted), or cursors not closed.
    A clue is the nLNsLocked=4999 in the second set of trace messages. This means that 4999 records were locked by your application and were unable to be migrated by the cleaner. The cleaner will wait until these record locks are released before deleting any log files. Records locks are held by transactions and cursors.
    If this doesn't ring a bell and you need to look further, one thing you can do is print the EnvironmentStats periodically (System.out.println(Environment.getStats(null))). Take a look at the nPendingLNsProcessed and nPendingLNsLocked. The former is the number of records the cleaner attempts to migrate because they were locked earlier. The latter is the number that are still locked and cannot be migrated.

  • Files not removed with Pacman Uninstall

    Programs can make new files etc. upon run. How do you keep track of where these files go?
    I see your user directory is where many (all?) applications store config files. But what about other possible files? Are there other places where they often are stored, except tmp and var?
    In Windows you have uninstallers to keep track of left over files. Linux doesn't have a registry, but I was thinking of other files.

    To quote the Pacman page in Archwiki:

    report and named it evwr and sent this compressed file to Skype.  Kindly help me to resolve/rectify this problem. Thanks. Vaidyanathan

    Hi, Vaidyanathan
    I suggest you follow these steps to solve this problem:
    1. Run “chkdsk/r” to  check whether the hard drive has bad sectors and repair it.
    2. Sometimes you may need to try several times to run “sfc
    /scannow”. If it does not work, you can try to run “sfc
    /scannow” command at boot , the files may be locked sometimes.
    3. You can also try to manually fix the corrupted file:
    Here is a link for reference :
    Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    4.If the problem still exits ,please upload the log to OneDrive and paste the download link for further analysis.

    5.You can also choose to return system to a previous state at which your system is functioning fine with restore point. (please note that you will lose some recent settings )

    Pl confirm that you are following the official install guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B14399_01/toc.htm and that you have all the needed rpms installed. 10.1 is a de-supported version - why do you need to install such an old version ?

  • Deleted files not removed!

    Hi, I allocated some pictures to crash can, I empty it and then when I open it again Aperture those deleted file appear again in the same previous location, what should done in this case?

    It seems to be a bug. It is indeed a species of "combine pdfs" and if you save the changes all the tiffs are present in the single tiff file where you dragged them, and vanish from their place in the file system. If you don't save the changes they are not in the file, but they aren't "put back" to where they came from either. This ONLY seems to happen when the all the files involved are tiffs. Combining PDF files was OK, no matter what no file got lost. Combining a tiff with PDFs worked the same way as all PDFs. So it seems to be a problem with TIF files only. And unless you have backups of your extremely important files I would say they are gone.

  • Temporary files are not getting deleted

    Hi All,
    I am using informix database and my code is reading BLOB from database and writing the image to different storage media. The program has to run for number of images. It is writing to media successfully but not exiting even after printing the last statement in program. it is generating some temporary files ifxb_* . If I use System.exit() garbage collection is not happeneing and temporary files not getting deleted.
    I am storing BLOB to an InputStream. and closing all the Connections and ResultSet before exit.
    Can anyone please tell why program is not exiting normally?

    And guess what I have never used normal statements for something like that again.
    Only time I use a normal Statement is when I run that query only once, and no the entire query is hardcoded so no need for any worries due to security.Um ... D'you post this to the wrong forum/topic?
    Anyway, OP ... I don't know a thing about informix, so perhaps a trip over to IBM would help ... they have lots of information on their site. You might want to try a different forum right here at java.sun.com as well.
    About those closing of Connections and Resultsets ... are they in finally clauses? They should be.

    How does one remove temporary files from Safari?  A friend logged on to her Facebook account using my iMac running Mac OSX 10.7.5 and Safari 6.1.6.  Now I can't remove her e-mail address from my computer.  When I open Facebook her address shows in the user button.  I do not have a Facebook account.  It was suggested to me that I try clearing temporary files from Safari but I can't find anything that tells me how to do this.  Are temporary files the same as the cache?  It also was suggested that I try clearing Safari cache.  How do I do that?

    Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

    iWork apps don't create temp files so, as far as you on't save something, Time Machine can't archive it.

    Try holding down the Command key and dragging the file well off the sidebar.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to save PDF's from Internet Explorer. Error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk."

    We are currently in a published desktop environment in Citrix XenApp 6.5.  Server is running on Windows 2008 R2.  Users are not able to save PDF's into the redirected folders (ie Desktop or My Documents).  Exactly same issue described in "The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary file is full...."  Anyone has any suggestion??

    Same problem here. Any ideas?
    Saving with Shortcut "CRTL+SHIFT+S" works just fine.

  • Bug: Temp files with 0-Byte size are not removed after PDF export

    Post Author: chaplin
    CA Forum: Exporting
    When exporting to PDF through the CR-API (CRPE) the temporary files epfHHHH.tmp and ctmHHHH.tmp in the windows temporary path (with HHHH = hexadecimal number with 4 digits) are not deleted when they are 0-Byte in size - even after closing the application which called the CRPE-API. When HHHH reaches its limit (hex FFFF = dec 65535) the Crystal Reports DLLs are not able to create more PDFs - the export aborts with an error and the PDFs are 0-Byte in size.
    This behaviour was tested/reproduced with Crystal Reports 8.5, but (as many other long-term bugs) might be also exist in later releases of Crystal Reports as well as on the other SDK interfaces.
    KBase Article ID:2009412, Track ID: ADAPT00011016 and Escalation ID: 1472 describes a solution for this problem and Business Objects says that using Crxf_pdf.dll, version 8.6.0.108, dated 04/25/2002 or later solves the problem. We are using a newer one from 2003 (version 8.6.2.429) and still see this problem. It seems that 0-Byte-Files are ommitted from the deletion.
    Does anybody know a workaround or solution for this bug?

    Wendell,
    This forum is for handling issues migrating from non-Oracle databases to Oracle databases.
    As this is an Oracle to Oracle issue using SQL*Developer export it would be better to open a new thread in the SQL*Developer forum -
    SQL Developer
    There will be more people there who can help with this problem.

  • Why do I get error 'Could not create temporary file. No space left on device" when I use the Engine Installation Wizard in TestStand?

    The process gets to the NIVISA\SETUP.INI step, then I get this error.
    I've tried with installing the MDAC and not, and it happens both times.
    The drive I'm trying to create the file to has 7.4GB open on it, so I'm not sure why this is happening.
    Thank you,
    Dave Neumann

    Dave,
    This is documented in the KnowledBase 2D6A63VW titled: "Error: Could Not Create Temporary File, No Space Left on Device".
    As RByrd suggested, you might need to free up some memory space in your System Temp directory, OR you may change the location of your System Temp directory to one with more space (such as the directory where you want the TestStand Engine files to be saved). The Knowledbase shows how to do this step by step. This is its URL:
