Cube creation

Hi All
the requirement i got is
dso(sap defined)-->cube(user defined)
i installed the DSO by using options
grouping-->before and afterwards
collection mode-->collec automaticall
installation-->install.
now i have to create a CUBE.
the question is i have to create the Application Component and Data Source or
by default installed DSO contains these?
Anybody can explain please

Hi Krishna,
Transformation is for mapping source fields with target fields.
In ur case source is DSO and target is Cube
DTP-Data Transfer Process is used for loading data from source to target
Right click ur cube and select create transformation.
Specify source DSO name
Map fileds between source and target
Activate,
Right click ur cube and select create data transfer process
Window will open in right side in that select required options under Extraction,Update tabs
Activate
Select execute under execute tab

Define the characteristics of the validity table for non-cumulatives
Message no. R7846
Diagnosis
The InfoCube contains non-cumulative values. A validity table is created for these non-cumulative values, in which the time interval is stored, for which the non-cumulative values are valid.
The validity table automatically contains the "most detailed" of the selected time characteristics (if such a one does not exist, it must be defined by the user, meaning transfered into the InfoCube).
Besides the most detailed time characteristic, additional characteristics for the InfoCube can be included in the validity table:
Examples of such characteristics are:
A "plan/actual" indicator, if differing time references exist for plan and actual values (actual values for the current fiscal year, plan values already for the next fiscal year),
the characteristic "plant", if the non-cumulative values are reported per plant, and it can occur that a plant already exists for plant A for a particular time period, but not yet for plant B.
Procedure
Define all additional characteristics that should be contained in the validity table by selecting the characteristics.
In the example above, the characteristics "plan/actual" and "plant" must be selected.
The system automatically generates the validity table according to the definition made. This table is automatically updated when data is loaded.

Hi,
Go to the Extras Tab in the definition of the Cube and there select " Maintain Non-Cumulatives" and there select the Plant check box. You can also check Material but it is not recommended. Now try to activate the cube. I think it will work for you.

Cube creation & Data loading from Flat file

Hi All,
I am new to BI 7. Trying to create a cube and load data from a flat file.
Successfully created the infosource and Cube (used infosource as a template for cube)
But got stucked at that point.
I need help on how to create transfer rules/update rules and then load data into it.

Hi
right click on infosource->additional functions->create transfer rules.
now in the window insert the fields you want to load from flat file->activate it.
now right click on the cube->additional functions->create update rules->activate it.
click on the small arrow on the left and when you reach the last node(DS)
right click on it->create info package->extenal data tab->give your FLAT file path and select csv format->schedule tab->click on start.

Cube creation taking nearly 2 hours

I am facing very strange issue recently.
Creationg of the cube through AWM taking nearly 2 hrs. Here is content of xml load log table.

Log on to your SAP BI
Transaction code RSA1LEAD YOU TO MODELING
1.. Creation of Info Objects
In left panel select info object
Create info area
Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
Create required info objects and Activate.
2.. Creation of Data Source
In the left panel select data sources
Create application component(AC)
Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( Transaction data )
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )
3.. Creation of data targets
In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to create ODS( Data store object ) or Cube.
Specify name fro the ODS or cube and click create
From the template window select the required characteristics and key figures and drag and drop it into the DATA FIELD and KEY FIELDS
Click Activate.
Right click on ODS or Cube and select create transformation.
In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
4. Monitor
Right Click data targets and select manage and in contents tab select contents to view the loaded data. There are two tables in ODS new table and active table to load data from new table to active table you have to activate after selecting the loaded data . Alternatively monitor icon can be used
Assign points if useful.

Creation of offline cubes from pivot table[Automation]

I have a pivot table on which i can slice data based on 3 different users so i create the offline cube for each of them independently
using Analyse->OLAP Tools->Offline OLAP.
So i need to repeat this process 3 times since each time i only select one user and deselect the other 2 in the offline OLAP offline
cube creation wizard.
My question is that can this process be automated because in case there are ,say 100 users the manual work will be too much.
Can i get information on the plugin in Excel which does the Offline Cube Creation.

I have taken the steps that you mentioned.
It works perfectly when the number of dimensions on which i slice data are small(around 10).
However i need to do this operation on around 90 dimensions so as a result i just keep on seeing this:
RUNNING OLAP QUERY ... (PRESS ESC TO CANCEL)
Is there any way out?

Falied "Configure OLAP cubes for Project Web App" in Project Server 2013

I'm trying to use the PS2013's capability for generate SSAS Cubes; but after I execute
the steps described on “Configure OLAP cubes for Project Web App (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj943761.asp)” the only thing
achieved is that the state being "Processing…" and the log:

When I check the jobs, the one who is associated with the cube creation is on "Succeeded" state but the OLAP database is never created. There is no evidence I think on the Sharepoint log.

Seems like an error occurred during site collection provisioning with the project server features. The provisioning process was interrupted from a system error and doesn't recovered after system restart.
I just created and provisioned a new site collection and everything is working now.

How to create a copy cube from Business content statistics cube

Dear Experts,
I got a requirement to create the new cubes which is a copy of Business content statistics cubes.
Request you to let me know how can i create a copy cube from Business content cube. My doubt is,weather is't the same as normal customized cube creation by giving copy from option.....

for copying the cube whose copy is to be made should be available in infoprovider tab in modelling of RSA1.
first you have to install the business content cube ,so that it is found in the Info-providers tab in modelling .
for that,first go to business content option found in the modelling tab of t-code RSA1 .
find the cube and transfer it to the right and execute . It will be available in infoprovider tab of modelling .
then you can create a copy as we do normally .

Transactional cube creation is similar to the creation of ur basic cube but at the time of loading u have to chack up an option
1.Go to Infoproviders tree right click Info area and say Create infocube.
2.then the normal way of creating infosource,assigning source sytem to itand then creating infopackage should be done
3.But befor scheduling the info package go the info provider tree select the infocube u have create and just right click u'll find an option
Swith Transactional infocube click it then a pop upshows with 2 radiobuttions
1.Real time data target can be loaded with data,Planning not allowed check this radiobutton
2.real time data target can be planned,data loading not allowed
4.now u can go back to ur infopackage and schedule it.

OLAP help: How to query a table in a OLAP cube

Hello,
I'm completely new in OLAP (even if I participated to cube creations), and I think a know well PLSQL.
We are on 10g v2.
OLAP cubes have been created with dimensions and tables.
It's possible to see and use the cubes under the AWM
I would like to know if it's possible to access a table within a cube directly from SQLPlus?
I thought about querying table all_objects ... but I didn't see anything good !!
I am stuck !!
Are the cubes saved in the same DB as the relational standard objects ?
I hope that you can give me some help... or provide me with good URLs ...

I looked at the doc you gave, and also I am now able to get the names of cubes and dimensions :
The cubesselect aw_owner||'.'||aw_name||'!'||aw_logical_name cube
from olapsys.ALL$OLAP2_AW_CUBES
order by cube;
The dimensionsselect aw_owner||'.'||aw_name||'!'||aw_logical_name dimension
from olapsys.ALL$OLAP2_AW_DIMENSIONS order by dimension;
So, I start to figure out where I would like to go ...
But, in the doc, there is a lot of CREATE commands ....
I'm puzzled !! ... Do I have to create objects in sqlplus (views or something else) prior to query a table ?
Also, when I see the dimensions in table olapsys.ALL$OLAP2_AW_DIMENSIONS ...
Is it possible to DESC these "tables" or make a SELECT ?
