CUP SMTP server error

Hi Experts,
I have a problem configuring my SMTP server in GRC CUP 5.3 .
As you   guys have already noticed its has a couple of extra fields in 5.3  than  to 5.2 in the SMTP pane  where you save your server name
error : " Action failed. An unknown error occurred while performing the operation."
But I tried configuring this in 5.2 and it worked fine!!!
Should I be filling the additonal fields like System email ID , application URL ,redirection URL etc.
Please see the log below

Hi Alpesh,
I was able to resolve the same issue MK reported by adding dummy URLs in the Application URL and Redirection URL fields in SMTP config.   Thanks for the tip!
However, this seems to introduce a new problem in URL links attached to the e-mail notifications sent to users/approves, etc.
For example,
I enetered http://ercp1xxx:50400/AE/ in the Application URL and Redirection URL fields which allows me to save my SMTP configuration.
When the users received e-mail notification of the status of their request, they will get a link automatically attached to the end of the e-mail to allow them to check the status. For example,
http://ercp1xxx:50400/AE/index.jsp?loadRequestStatusSearchClosed.do.....    If the user copy and paste this link to a browser, they will be able to go to AE to check status.
However, if they click on the link provided in the e-mail, the user will be directed to a link like below which is not a valid address and users will get error message.
e.g.http://ercp1xxx:50400/AE/=http://ercp1xxx:50400/AE/index.jsp?loadRequestStatusSearchClosed.do
It looks like the URL I defined for App or Redirection for SMTP was appended in front of the URL generated for e-mail notification.
Do you know how to fix this issue?  I can not leave the App or Redirection for SMTP config blank otherwise I can not save my SMTP config.    Can I change the link that automatically entered in the email, for example,
from http://ercp1xxx:50400/AE/index.jsp?loadRequestStatusSearchClosed.do
to index.jsp?loadRequestStatusSearchClosed.do  ?
Then when the Application URL combined with it the link will work?   Of course this may introduce a different problem that the link showed up in the e-mail may not look correct either.
Many thanks for your help.
Regards.

It's possible that your provider has made a change.
I think STARTTLS usually is used with port 587, instead of the standard SSL port 465.
Could you look up your provider's current SMTP settings to see whether your "Outgoing Server" settings need to be updated? If it's difficult to translate between your provider's help page and Thunderbird's dialog controls, you could provide a link to your provider's help page.

  • SMTP server error message

My scan to email feature has suddenly quit working.  When I try to scan a document, the scan feature trys to connect to smtp.aol.com, as it always has.  After approximately 5 seconds, I receive the following error message:  "Cannot resolve the SMTP server".  I tried correcting by following an earlier post dated 3-1-2014, by accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server and performing the below tasks:
Click the Network tab, then click on IP4 config on the left side.
    Click on Network Address (IP)
    Select Manual.
Type in the printer's information and IP address.
Set the DNS Address Configuration as Manual.
This did not work for me.  As stated before, this feature has worked flawlessly for the past year.  Not sure what happened.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Brian

    Hi brianw8602,
I believe this should be most of the settings you need.
AOL Mail SMTP server address: smtp.aol.com
AOL Mail SMTP user name: Your AOL Mail screen name (what comes before "@aol.com" in your AOL Mail address; if your address is [email protected], for example, the corresponding screen name is "me")
AOL Mail SMTP password: Your AOL Mail password
AOL Mail SMTP port: 587 (alternative: 465)
AOL Mail SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes
Delete the Scan to Email settings and run the Setup Wizard again.
You might need to contact AOL to lower the security settings, since it was working and now it isn't.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank You.

  • "Could not connect to this SMTP server" error box.

I suspect this is common, but what do I do? I get an error box when I attempt to send outgoing mail from Mail. Connection Doctor tells me under smtp.mac.com:budsteetle "Could not connect to this SMTP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences." I have made not changes in my account, so this appears to be an Apple problem. I can send mail OK through MobileMe on my old .Mac account. Ideas? Usually, the Outbox empties eventually, so far it has been 1/2 a day.

  • 5.3-SP12 CUP-SMTP Server-Redirection URL

    Hi experts,
I've configured the SMTP server by setting the Applicattion URL : Configuration>Workflow>SMTP Server, but there is another field: Redirection URL that I have not full-filled.
Which is the functionality of setting the redirection URL at the SMTP Server?
    Many thanks!

    It's two different URLs:
    - you will need the SMTP server (which is not a URL but a host name, i.e. "mail.yourcompany.com")
    - you do not need the redirect URL if you don't do SSO

  • Configuration error when saving SMTP server

I am configuring CUP 5.3 (SP06).  When I put in our SMTP server, I get the following error:
" Action failed. An unknown error occurred while performing the operation. "
It looks like this screen was changed with SP06.  I am not filling out anything under "Enter Email Notification Sender" or under "Application URL" (which seems to be new fields).

    Hi Peggy,
This is a known bug in AC 5.3 SP6. SAP has added fields for administrator email address, application URL and redirection URL. Even though application URL and redirection URL do not show up as manadatory fields but they are required to save the configuration. To get pass through this error, just provide anything in those 2 textboxes with some dummy email address in administrator email address textbox. You should be able to save it now.
This is being fixed in SP7 which should release somewhere around end of March.

  • CUP 5.3: SMTP Server

    Good day Chaps.
Is it mandatory to have a MS Exchange mailbox created and the email name maintained in the Enter Email Notification Sender in CUP > SMTP Server?
If not, how will CUP send out the CUP Request email notifications?  The AC5.3_Config_Guide does not mention anything on the topic.
    Regards,
    M Hannie

    Dear all,
I've setup the SMTP server information, and CUP is sending emails to notify approvers of pending requsts.  However I have a few issues with this screen.
SMTP Server has been entered and has saved
I had tried to put in URLs for the Application URL and the Redirection URL.  The values I had entered were not correct and so now, the link that is sent to the approvers doesn't lead them to the correct CUP screen.  This is my first issue - what is the correct information that should go into these fields?
The second problem is that if I try to delete this information, and then try to save it, I receive the following error:
Action failed. An unknown error occurred while performing the operation
Upon checking the logs, I notice the following:
    2009-11-19 13:16:21,495 [SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_3] ERROR com.virsa.ae.configuration.actions.SMTPServerNameAction
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -1
From this error, I can make out that it is being generated because I tried to remove the incorrect URLs that I had entered.
Have you seen this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?
    Thanks,
    Santosh Krishnan

    Hi,
Since you are able to send emails to internal domain i assume the application server IP address already allowed into Receive Connector.
To relay application emails to external domain you should enable Externally Secured box in the Authentication Tab of the particular Receive Connector.

  • Email SMTP Server

I am working abroad andusing my btinternet.com email account on a MacBook Pro 10.8.4 Mail client
Incoming email OK - outgoing email occasionally good - other times I get the following Alert:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Btinternet IMAP” or try again.
The server returned the error: Mail was unable to log in to the IMAP server “imap.mail.yahoo.com” using “Password” authentication. Verify that your account settings are correct.
The server returned the error: Please verify your account by going to https://login.yahoo.com (#MBR1213)
This presumably means that there is a SMTP server error. If I log into webmail password information is correct and the Mail alert disappears for a while.
Two questions that perhaps the forum can help with:
why does this happen - BT SMTP server seems to dislike connection when not on a BT Broadband service - obviously not possible when abroad
how can I avoid this - I remember reading about ignoring the BT SMTP server and using an alternative SMTP server (such as a Gmail account) - if I do this email sent from my account does not appear to come from my BT email address
    Many thanks

    My problem has been resolved.
Regarding that, probably you should check with SMTP server admin.
For me, the shcedule was success but didn't receive mail. I think the SMTP server admins cleared any firewall filters.
Not sure. Please check with your SMTP server admin.

  • Authentication Error while Sending Email from SMTP server.

Authentication Error while Sending Email from SMTP server.  Can receive emails but cannot send emails from this account.

no email account was setup on the phone unless it was issued by your company.
gmail is required but no server address ports to enter.
my gmail account was setup before i took delivery of the phone but could have been done when phone was activated.
i added cox pop3 email and had to manually enter both pop3 and smtp servers with both boxes checked on both servers.
    i doubt if it's a verizon issue.

Getting server error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp:  error when scheduled a webi report to save as excel and send to an email account. What things to look for?

yes you should read the administration documents,
    go to CMC, find "servers"
    then  "destination job server"
then click the "destination " tab
you will find some parameters, you have to configure it you.
the same scenario will be done to the "web intelligence job server"
    good luck

    2) Maintained SMTP settings in Data services server manager

    Thanks for the reply Julian.
There was a problem in SMTP relay rights on Exchange server. Able to send mails now. Thanks!
Getting another problem wherein I am not able to send mails to multiple recipients i.e. If I specify 5 recipients in SMTP_TO function and execute the job then Every individual is getting E-Mail having there own ID in TO field, other Id's are not gettting displayed in TO field.
I hve checked note "1276348 - smtp_to function - multiple recipients not displayed"
Settings mentioned in the note have been done and job is getting executed without any error but the mails are not getting delivered.
It would be great if anyone can suggest on how to proceed here.
