Cups 1.3 1.4 NETWORK Printer NOT USB

When I had CUPS 1.3 installed Acroread of all apps would take my PDF's and instead of printing them in Portrait manner, they woul be changed to Landscape and shrunk down.
With the upgrade to 1.4 now Thunderbird is doing the same thing with anything I print.
I can force an lpr -o Portrait filename and I will get a 75 dpi print of what I'm sending but this is definitely not optimal. I have look at every option I know about. Usually I hit print preview first and double check all the options and properties before placing a send. I am perplexed because the localhost:631 interface and the print dialog box are showing one thing and CUPS is doing something else.
Okay Acroread is on drugs!
Printing from browser and Evince works fine. No modifications, or shrinking, even though the settings are all the same. Go figure.

Hi All,
Atlast got it resolved .. The solution which solved my issue is as follows.
1. Change the Type of the entity attribute to java.sql.Timestamp in EO
2.Change the Database column Type to DATETIME in EO
3. Change the query in VO using TO_CHAR for Date column as below so that VO will pick up date column along with time component.
TO_CHAR(XxpbEamInspresultsEO.SEC_INSPECTED_DATE,'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:mi:ss') SEC_INSPECTED_DATE, The format in the to_char can be any valid date format accepted by Timestamp. I tried using 'YYYY-MM-DD
hh:mi:ss AM' But it didn't work. I d't know why?
4. Change the date format in control Hints tab in EO as mentioned in earlier posts(required format) I used dd-MMM-yyyy HH:mm:ss(HH is used for 24-hr format) This format is to display in the UI.
5. Use the same format in jspx as mentioned in earlier posts.
<f:convertDateTime pattern="dd-MMM-yyyy HH:mm:ss" type="both" timeStyle="full" dateStyle="full"/>
The above steps solved my issue and now I'm able to save the DATE column along with time and I'm able to view the saved DATE column along with time in Update Page as well.
kmiller and albert, Thanks for your inputs.

  • Adding shared printers? Network printer not showing up in list

I have a network printer not showing up in the Bonjour Printer Wizard. There is not a place to add a printer to this list. Does my network printer need to be installed under the Windows side as well, or can I share it using Bonjour? I'm confused as to how the shared printer program works. Also, my Adobe "print to pdf" option shows up as a printer, but how do I change the file destination location? It doesn't give me an option to change the "saved to" location. I am using these printers through Parallels in AutoCad, and that should be the only reason I will need to share printers. But I am in AutoCad a good deal of time, so I need to know how to quickly print my drawings.

    Welcome to the forums!
You don't say if you installed after downloading the Printer you deleted, but I suspect it's one not showing, and that you need to reinstall.

  • Network printer not responding

    Hello
When I try to print from my MacBook to my Canon network printer, I get the error message "printer not responding", even the printer works fine with both windows notebooks connected to the same WLAN.
I have a Canon MF8540Cdn printer connected with Ethernet to my router. The printer has the ip address 10.1.1.10, the gateway is 10.1.1.1 (Router IP) and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
Then I have three notebooks, one MacBook (IP 10.1.1.101) and two windows notebooks (a HP notebook (IP 10.1.1.102) and a Lenovo notebook (IP 10.1.1.103)). All three notebooks are connected wo the same WLAN using enterprise encryption.
The two windows notebooks can print to the canon printer perfectly fine and have not havd any issues at all.
However, from the MacBook I can not print since the upgrade to OSX 10.9.1 Mavericks. I have the latest update from Mavericks.
So, I deleted the printer (settings - printer) and resetted the printing system and deleted the printer also in the folder "Library - Printers". Then I got the latest driver (version 10.2) from Canon and installed the driver (dmg file).
Next I added the printer in the in the settings  as follows:
    1. Hit the "+" buttton to add a printer
    2. Select "IP"
    3. enter the ip address of the printer (10.1.1.10)
    4. Select "Line printer daemon"
    5. The system automatically detected the printer "MF8500 Series" and filled in the location.
    6. Add the printer
When I open the printer options now, I can see the toner levels corretly, so the MacBook must have connection to the printer.
In addition, I can open the printer web address in Safary by going to http://10.1.1.10 , this also works fine and I can modify settings too. So the IP connection is also fine here.
But, when I print a document, PDF, Word, Safari,..., the system firs report "connecting to the printer" and after a while it states "printer not responding"!
The printer seems not to get any info, as it does not start or show any error message.
However, the two windows notebooks can print fine, and I tried to print from windows, then directly after print from the MacBook, or first MacBook then windows or both allone, wait 1 hour print from MacBook, then wait one hour and print from Windows.
The result is always the same. The windows print fine, the MacBook does not print and reports printer not responding.
If I check the log file on the MacBook, it shows the time and the job number and then printer not responding.
Meanwhilte I deleted the printer aleready a couple times and also reinstalled the printer driver from Canon. On the Canon cummunity I also submitted a ticket, but everybody responded that the driver works perfectly fine.
Any idea, where the problem could be?
    Thanks for any help,
    Rolly

    Select "Line printer daemon"
Why are you doing that? When you select the printer in the Add dialog, the driver should be entered automatically. Does that not happen?

  • Error 0x00000709 Networked printer not working in a home network with HomeGroup enabled.

I should start by describing my network by device.
Gateway device - Motorola SB5120 SURFboard cable modem
Router/WAP device - Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router with 4 port Switch Model: WRT54G v4 Security: WPA2 with firewall.
Windows 7 Ultimate Desktop with Homegroup enabled (Printer driver installed & ethernet wired)
Windows 7 Pro Laptop set to homegroup for the Desktop (Ethernet wired and Wireless depending on the situation)
Windows 7 Home set to homegroup for the Desktop (Wireless)
    Brother Printer Model: HL-2170W (Wireless)
HP Printer Model: HP Officejet 6500A Plus (Wireless)
    What have I done?
Installed drivers on 2 of the 3 computers. The final computer (Win7 Home) was added in later and works fine when connecting to the internet through the WAP. However it does not even find the printer when trying to install the driver which is a part of the
process for driver installation for the Brother Printer.
I had set up the printer for two of the three computers and had it working at one time however in trying to get the printer set up for the final computer I somehow have messed up those settings.
During that setup I tried to move the printer to a networked printer (It was shared before and installed on the network with both the Desktop and the Win7Pro lappy able to print but it would not print for the new arrival to the Homenetwork. This caused
me to seek a solution which involved installing the proper driver in the Win7Home and the discovery that the driver installer could not find the Brother printer at all which prompted the moving of the printer to a networked printer.) (The Win7Home computer does
not find the HP printer either but that is a can of worms yet unopened.)
I am sure there are a few things that I did not do correctly and I may have left out some additional information which you may require. If I can help clarify this question please feel free to query me. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

May I know that are these two network printer with network adapter?  If they are installed on the network, you could add them and install the drivers  for Windows 7.

  • Network printer not printing

I setup my Epson Stylus C84 as a network printer in my AEBS. From my windows machine, it prints fine but not from my powerbook. I see the printer on my machine but when I send somehting to print, it wouldn't. Any pointers on how to troubleshoot?

Thanks Henry, it worked. The mistake I did was, during the setup process in my powerbook, I missed to select "Bonjour Printers". Once I clicked, I was able to see the printer and works fine.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Internet connection sharing, network printer: not at the same time

    Here's the setup:
Mac+airport connected to wireless router connected via ethernet to network printer on wireless network "One".
I want to share my internet connection via airport/"One" with my iPod Touch.
I set up internet sharing, using "One" as the acceptable route. iPod works. Network printer doesn't.
If I turn off sharing, network printer works, iPod (obviously) doesn't.
How do I set it up so I can 1) print to my network AND b) share my internet connection with the iPod?
    TIA

    An update to this...
IP Address of AE is 169.254.231.99
    Internet is set to DHCP
    Network has nothing set
    Airtunes is enabled in Music
My Macbook Pro has the external IP given by my DSL connection, on subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway of my ISP
I can see the speakers in iTunes, but when I select the AE, It says its connecting, but then does nothing... after 20 secs the message disappears.
Firewall has 5353 UDP open, no messages in the firewall log.

  • Can't connect to a networked printer - Airlink101 USB Print Server

I am new to Mac. I am trying to connect my iMac to a Brother HL-5040 laser printer through an Airlink101 USB print server over my wireless network. The iMac connected to the 802.11g network immediately without any issues which is more than I can say for the other XP machines I own. I have several other Windows PC's networked and they all print just fine. Using the print setup utility, I can find the networked print server and add it to the printer list; however, I can not print. The status monitor indicates that it can't connect. The install directions on the Airlink101 website for the Mac does not seem to match the options that are part of the "add a printer" utilility. Any help would be appreciated.

When we try to add another one of the printers it finds the printer with the IP, it auto-detected the driver, then when I click next, I get an error stating there was an "error connecting to the printer would you continue anyway?"
We try to print but the queue just continuously pauses and nothing gets sent to the printer.
This could be a result of the protocol you selected. IPP is the default listed. If you remove this printer and add again, but this time change the protocol drop menu to HP Jetdirect-Socket, see if this works better for the user.

  • HP 7140 xi (All in one) network printer not installing properly?  Help?

I have the 7140 setup with a fixed ip address on the network. When I install the HP drivers the setup process hangs. Every time you restart the setup program runs again. Either abort the program or try to setup and watch it hang.
I had the same thing happen with my older G5 after a OS upgrade and had to do a driver reinstall. It would do exactly the same thing. The difference was the install software on the G5 was not the latest from HP's web rather the CD supplied with the printer. This time on the MacBook I am using the latest drivers from the web. Now on my MacBook how do I even get it to print when you cannot set it up? Could HP have an issue having two printers? I have the Laser 2300 dtn working fine also with a fixed ip address (different of course).
Anyone else having the same issues or has solved it yet?
MacBook Intel   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2gig RAM and 120gig HDD

I found the following information on HP's web site.
    The address is http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpm35033&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en& product=91463&rule=36617&lang=en
When I applied the instructions it deleted my HP2300dtn printing but fixed the HP 7140xi (All in one) and got it working great. I will now go back and get te 2300dtn working.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Network print not working

I recently set up printer sharing between my desktop and laptop computers.  The HP printer I installed on the desktop system via USB connection  was an F4280.  That system is running Vista 64.  Print jobs from the desktop print fine but when I install the shared printer on my laptop it does not print.  The laptop sees the shared printer, appears to print but there is nothing printed.  I paused the printer from the desktop system and resubmit the print job from the laptop and I can see the entry in the printer queue.  When I resume the printer it just disappears - no error messages, no output.
I also have an Epson printer that I have done the same process with and it works fine from both computers so it appears the networking is working.   They are connect to a wireless router - Linksys 802.11g
What is happening with the HP printer and what can I do to fix it?

    Hi Dinesh_G,
Sorry for the delayed response.  Try adding an alternate driver.  Here is a link that will provide steps for that.  Click Here  Check which PCL driver you are currently using and add the alternate (PCL5/PCL6).  Please see the below for additional clarification.
Utilize the above link for exact steps on adding the driver.
    1. Check which driver currently used-PCL5 or PCL6-this will be located near name of driver in print folder or print properties
    2. Follow steps provided in link to add whichever one the currently installed driver is using
         A.  Select HP as manufactuer
         B.  Select HP universal printing PCL 6 or HP universal printing PCL 5
    3. Attempt duplex print job
    Hope this helps!

  • Network Printer not recognized by install software and won't print

I have a C5180 All-in-one printer hooked up to a wireless modem from my DSL provider.  That modem is hooked up to my desktop directly and my notebook via the network.  I had trouble with it this morning in that when I tried to print something the screen on the printer would say printing, but nothing would print.  I tried a bunch of different things and ended up reinstalling the software via the HP website.
The software is installed, but it cannot find the printer on the network to add it to the computer.  My notebook which I have not done anything with also does not print to the printer.  Although the printer does say printing when new items are selected to print, yet nothing ends up printing.
    Any suggestions?

I have also tried to use HP Print and Scan Doctor and it cannot find the printer on the network.  I try copying using the scan bed of the printer and it won't print.  It also won't scan because it says the program isn't fully installed.

  • How can I print from my ipad to a network printer (not air enabled

  • Network printer not working

Should be a simple task... I'm obviously missing something simple.
I have a HP C4380 inkjet connected to my server (10.6.8) via USB.  If I follow the Apple Printer Admin manual, p25, it says to configure the print queue "enter an IP or DNS name".  I'm using USB.
SO... I deviate from the manual, and try this:
I setup a LOCAL printer, and it recognizes it just fine.  Setup no problem.
Go back into Print Service, and now I see my printer queue - already setup - but no protocol is checked.  And, my clients (10.6.8) can't see it, unless I check "LPR" and "Show name in bonjour".
Then, my clients can see it - however, when I add it, I have to manually select the "print using:" driver (c4380), and when sending a test page, the queue on the client simply says "In use" for 2 seconds, then "Paused" forever after.  The server queue doesn't even show a job, nor is there anything in the logs that indicates that a job even came in.
Please help point me in the right direction,
    Thanks,
    Jason

Disconnect the USB cable, and plug an ethernet cable into the printer, assign an IP address, and set up a DNS host.  Then follow the rest of the instructions.
Network printers are far easier to deal with than are host-based printers.  Serving host-based printers to a network is typically more management and more cost for fewer features and with more oddities.

  • Network printing not working...

    Hi there!
I wanted to print a document out of Pages on my Canon IP3000 (connected on an eMac) by using the networkprint function.
But that doesn't work! It appears a Message: "Print error". I added the networkprinter again and again, but that won't help!
Then I tryed to print in TextEdit and MS Word and that worked fine!
Why doesn't Pages print on the IP3000? (On my i450x, connected directly to my iMac it works.)
I hope here are some people who can help me!
    Thanks!
    Mike.

Like Bonjour, not all printers support IPP (= internet printing protocol) - it started around 1999. Most do support LPD and HP Jetdirect (HP Jetdirect is called raw port 9100 on Windows). The LPD and IPP protocols require us to enter the printer's queue name (also called port name) in the Print & Fax add printer dialog. HP Jetdirect doesn't use queue name.
So, use LPD and find the queue name, or try the HP Jetdirect protocol.
You can go to Windows and printer properties and then to Ports to see the configuration - queue name or port 9100.

  • Brother network printer not "visible"

I just replaced an old iMac with a new one. I have a Brother 5250DN on an ethernet, seen by the prior iMac. The new iMac can't find the printer at all. The printer is on, the driver is part of the OS, but I can't bring it up in the printer setup. Help, please!

    Try Reset Printing System.
