  • Currency conversion - CO differences

    Hi Guys,
We are doing technical currency conversion at data base tableu2019s level from SGD to USD for our company code (EURO solution). During this conversion, FI reconciliation is able to achieve. On the other hand where CO data also changed balances form SGD to USD on fixed rate (exchange rate) conversion base, it will lead some small rounding differences either +/-. Is there any way to adjust these small differences in CO module alone with out impacting to other modules (Running EURO CO reconciliation programs i have idea apart from this any solution Plz)!
    Thanks for your valuable inputs.

    Thanks Guys.
We decided to use conversion cost center and element or internal order to write off the differences during currency conversion occured. Once go-live went will block for postings and for reporting management need to omit this.
    Thanks...Vyas

  • OBIEE Multi Currency Conversion Question

    Hi,
We are implementing BI with the Financials Dashboard and currently the default currency displayed is in USD$.
We would like to add a filter for each dashboard and allow users to choose between 4 currencies:
    1. Local Currency
    2. Reporting Currency Daily (USD at Constant daily/monthly corporate rate)
    3. Reporting Currency Current Year (USD at Constant current year corporate rate)
    4. Reporting Currency Previous Year (USD at Constant previous year corporate rate)
Please would you know the best way to add this filter and setup the solution in BI?
Do we need to use Global Rate, Variables...?
    Thank you,
    Ben

    Hi,
We input the data into currency member called 'Local' and based on the currency conversion it will be converted into reporting currency.
If you want to enter the currency other than the base currency for an entity, you need to enable the option of enable multi currencies in Other options in the Manager dataforms. While inputting the values you need to give the currency after the value.

  • Currency conversion variable

I have a question regarding currency conversion variable.
We have USD and CAD currencies in BW. I created a currency conversion variable in the properties of a key figure using average rate for current date (0MEANTODAY) and that variable was working fine for a long time. Now I noticed that variable got corrupted in BWD but still works in BWQ and BWP systems. I can see in BWD that variable has nothing in a Variable Represent box and Ready for Input checkbox is not checked. It doesn’t let me to fix or repair this variable. I cannot run any existing queries in BWD that use this variable. The error message is “Variable 0MEANTODAY is not permitted for the target currency”
I created another currency conversion variable that works in BWD. I know it is ok to have multiple variables for a dimension, let’s say Cal Year/Month has a number of variables. I am not sure whether it is allowed to have multiple currency conversion variables and use different currency conversion variables in different queries. We have about 40 queries that use old currency conversion variable in BWP. If I’ll move new query with a new currency conversion variable to BWP, will it cause any problems for the existing reports that use an old variable? I want to know whether it will present a problem running 40 reports that are already in prod besides the fact it will be inconsistent for a while until I’ll switch all reports to use a new variable.
I don’t know why that variable got corrupted.  A few weeks ago basis applied some patches in BWP and copied it to BWQ and BWD systems but I am not sure that caused a problem.
I am relatively new to BW and will very much appreciate any help. I haven’t done transport to production for more that a week and cannot wait any more.
    Thanks,
    Polina
BWD – DEV;  BWQ – QA  and BWP - Production

I was dealing with this problem for more than a week. Finally I got help from SAP today. As it was explained to me, we were using very old version of BW front end (part of SAP GUI) which became incompatible with the new patches we applied in BWP and copied to BWQ and BWD. Basically, I was told to upgrade BW front end that caused problems especially in the Variable Wizard area.
I repaired the currency conversion variable and move it to production. So far all reports run ok in production.
If anybody will have problems with currency conversion variables, please check your front end version.
    Thanks.

  • Foreign to Local currency Conversion

    Hi Hyperion Experts,
For our client we are building a planning model and they have the following requirement. The entity UK needs to be able to fill in expenses in different currencies, so in pounds, Euro, Swiss Francs, USD, etc. At the moment there is only 1 reporting currency and that is USD. Now they want to be able to calculate the entity UK to the local currency pounds. So there needs to be a foreign to local conversion.
    How can this be solved?
    We now have one solution.
    1) Every currency needs to be a reporting currency, but then the model will not perform. There are a lot of enitities and a lot of currencies.
Do you guys now a more efficient way to solve this problem?

Your requiremet seems to be of multi currency input across Entities. Whenever, you enter data in Loacl currency with the Currency symbol system picks up that currency as the input currency irrespective of the currency UDA attached to the entity.
Try this out, input 100 EURO for an Entity whcih has USD as the base. Check the conversions.
The next requirement is of the currency conversions. If this multi currency requirement is only for some expenses then you can very well modify the existing scripts so that the conversion runs only for those account members and not the entire set of account codes. You can put a specific UDA on these expenses so that you can call the same in the rule.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks fr the info. that u all hv given ..... I ran one program frm our side which will be updating the transfer exchange rates as u all have mentioned. But then , i am receiving the warnings.
    Also,when i have checked the conversion rates,they r fine.
Please find the Below diagnosis ,which they hv given.
    Diagnosis:
The exchange rate 301.149,42529- was calculated via the base currency USD. This produced a rate which exceeds the      maximum allowed value of 9999.99999.
    System Response:
The processing can not be continued because the calculated rate can not be used.
    Procedure:
Check the conversion rate to the base currency USD and the exchange rate type E. If the rates are correct, you must agree different conversion factors for the currencies in question (e.g. 100:1 instead of 1:1), so that the resulting conversion rate does not exceed the value 9999.99999.  Notification Number SG 119 .
Please solve this issue. Thanks in advance!

  • Currency Conversion - YTD - for experts

    Hello,
I have following scenario in BEx.
YTD BEx variable with "From" and "To" value.
Example: User enters: 02.2007 - 05.2007 and wants to convert in USD.
The requirement is that all months (02.2007, 03.2007, 04.2007 and 05.2007)
are converted with the currency conversion of 05.2007 (in this example).
In rrc2 I saw as time reference: "Fixed time reference" and "Time Base from variable".
Where can I create a variable for "Time base from variable"?
    In cube I have 0FISCPER and 0CALMONTH.
    Any idea?

Create a step 2 OLAP variable in cmod based on Fiscal Period - this then gets the data from the To section of the YTD BEx variable
Then use this variable in Time Base from Variable

  • Need help in currency conversion

i am doing currency conversion at query level.
i am getting this error message for the output.
    Diagnosis
The exchange rate 19.334.782,61- was calculated via the base currency INR. This produced a rate which exceeds the maximum allowed value of 9999.99999.
    System Response
The processing can not be continued because the calculated rate can not be used.
    Procedure
Check the conversion rate to the base currency INR and the exchange rate type MA. If the rates are correct, you must agree different conversion factors for the currencies in question (e.g. 100:1 instead of 1:1), so that the resulting conversion rate does not exceed the value 9999.99999.
    Notification Number SG 119
how do i change that factor from 1:1 to 100:1 , which is mentioned above ?

    Hi,
    thanks for reply.
But changing in SPRO ->  is just the display option.
But the issue that is being faced is with the currency conversion in the query.  since the rate for that currecny maintained in tcurr table is a very small value, the conversion is not happening and its displayed as it is in the query output.
also, we cannot go with the option of changing the ratio in tcurr table for this currency, because there are so many dependent objects and then we have to change some logic for all those to incorporate this rates. and our Basis team has mentioned that changing the ratio will not be done because of this.
how do i go about?  whether any other methods available?

  • Inputs on Currency Conversion

    Hi Experts,
I need some help in the Currency conversion variable that I am using in my report.
I have few caluculated key figures that are caluculated on the basis of difference between current date and the Net Due date. Currency conversion is used in these variables.
I also have few Restricted keyfigures that are restricted on the Fiscal Period. Same currency conversion variables are used in these key figures also. The currency conversion variable is at a Fiscal period level.
However, the currency conversion is not happening on the Caluculated keyfigures but it works for Restricted keyfigures.
    Please provide your valuable inputs.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Please give us some more information on the calculated key figure. How is it defined? I assume the calculations is based on amounts and not on dates as you've written?

  • APO DP: currency conversion with CURR_CONV_FAC

    Dear DP experts,
we have currently a problem  that is described in a similar thread, however the solution is not yet clear.
Demand planning: Change currency in unit column with a macro function?
We are using the currency conversion: on planning book, top left corner - right mouse button - UoM - Set - In currency field put USD. (*) The planning area currency is RUB. To work with USD, the program takes the currency exchange rate of today. However we need to use the currency exchange rate that is maintained in SPRO on a monthly basis.
We were advised by SAP that it is a program limitation and there is a macros CURR_CONV_FAC to make currency conversion based on periods.
As we want to keep the conversion functionality  as is (*), did anyone try to implement the conversion in such a way and could help us with advice?
For example , we think that this macros
    1) has to be DEFAULT,
    2) has to find the planning area currency
    3) has to read the new currency from the UoM column
    4) has to recognize that the currency change event has to happen.
    5) has to be allways called after setting the new currency.
There are some doubts that this can work, can anyone advise?
    Best regards
    Vladimir Ermoshin

    Hi BPC Gurus,
I too have the same issue.
We are in the process of upgrading BPC7.5NW to BPC10.0 NW.
    1) I am validating the below Currency Conversion script in BPC10.0:-
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
    CATEGORY = %CATEGORY_SET%
    CURRENCY = %RPTCURR_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    OTHER = [ENTITY = %COMPANY_SET%]
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
The data manager package runs w/o any errors, but log says:-
    LOG BEGIN TIME:2013-02-26 20:36:16
    FILE:\ROOT\WEBFOLDERS\XXXXX\ADMINAPP\LEGAL_CON\FXTRANS.LGF
    USER:JXXXX
    APPSET:XXXXX
    APPLICATION:LEGAL_CON
    RUN CURRENCY CONVERSION
    0  SUBMITTED, 0  SUCCESS, 0  FAIL.
SCRIPT RUNNING TIME IN TOTAL:1.16 s.
    LOG END TIME:2013-02-26 20:36:18
    2) When tested in UJKT in BW I have the below error LOG:
UJK_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION:Dimension set:"CATEGORY" not assigned in Data Manager
    3) Model is of consolidation type with dummy(no data) Ownership model.
    4) Below is screen shot of my Currency Translation rules post upgrade in BPC10.0NW.
Any clue why currency conversion is not picking any records??
Thanks in advance for your earliest help.

  • Currency Conversion problem in query designer

    Hi,
A requirement has come that infoobject which contain multiple currency type, need to convert into a single currency type in Bex reporting as user want to see only one currency value in report.
There are three keyfigures refering different calenders for conversion. For examle . GR amount is based on GR date, IR amount is based on IR date and PO amount is based on Doc date. Query is build based on a infoset.
I am doing following steps to achieve the task::
    1. In TCODE - RSCUR, created three Currency Conversion Type each for GR, IR and PO and each one refering different 0calday calender
    2. Defined exchange Rate Type as "M"
    3. Currency Tab -> Source Currency = "Source Currency from data Record"
Target Currency -> Fixed Target Currency = "USD"
    4. Time Ref. Tab -> Fixed Time ref. = "Current Date"
Variable time reference = "To the exact day"
        Special InfoObject = <InfoObject name>
    5. In query designer, Key figure property for GR amount -> Conversion -> Conversion type = <Name of Currency Conversion Type which defined in RSCUR>
    6. Repeated the same for IR Amount and PO Amount key figure
    While saving, getting following error::
*Cannot apply Currency translation type <Currency type name> in Infocube <Infoset name>. *
    Diagnosis
You tried to translate a query element with the currency translation type <Currency type name>. The translation type <Currency type name>, however, has variable time reference or variable target currency relevant to characteristic Document Date. Characteristic Document Date is also not available in InfoProvider <Infoset name> and it references either none or more than one characteristic () of the InfoProvider for Document Date, or Document Date is not a base characteristic.
    System Response
    Procedure
Adjust the query definition or create a special currency translation type for one of the characteristics .
    Please help!
Please note that there are three key figures which need conversion using different calenders.
    Sanjiv

    Hello,
I have done the same what you said, but same error still showing....
I also tried to change from "Special InfoObject" to Infoset level and it works with one KF. Since all three KF are under one Infoset and there is limitation that if Currency Conversion Type is defined on Infoset level then only one KF will be assigned for a Infoset where as I am using three KFs with three relevant time characteristic.
    Any suggesion from others?

  • BEX - Using Currency Conversion

    Hi All,
I have a report requirement to convert a Key Figure Amount from currency  EURO into USD.
E.g Sales amount 100 is reported in euro, this needs to use a conversion rate to show it in USD instead.
I have created a DSO with the exchange rates for use with query designer.
How do I set this up in the Query Designer? Please be specific.
    Thanks
    Flash

    1 Go to transaction RSCUR
2 Create a currency translation key, provide a technical name and description with which you can identify it
3 Under the Exchange Rate tab, provide details about the exchange rate type that you need to use. Generally companies have
many different exchange rate types like for example, month end accounting rate, month beginning rate, budget rate, average
rate, historical rate etc. Select the one which best suits the user requirements
4 Under the currency tab you can provide details about source and target currency. If in your case it is always going to be EURO
to USD conversion, you can fix it or you can provide a variable which would take input from the user and accordingly convert it
5 Under time reference tab, you can provide a fixed time reference or a variable time reference using a standard infoobject
6 You can use this currency translation key in the required key figures in the report to enable currency conversion
Once this is done, you can request the design authority and BASIS team to maintain the required conversion factors between different currencies and exchnage rate types in SPRO >SAP Netweaver>Currencies
Kindly award points if you find this information to be useful
    Best Regards,

  • BEX Currency conversion created by the business

    Hello,
I need to convert from USD to other currencies defined by the users in R/3. So the business figures the exchange rate in R/3 and I need to take that value and use it for converting the date in BEx.  Any help?  This is a very urgent requirement so anything would be great.

    Hi,
You can set up currency converison in the bex query by right clicking the KF and choosing the currency conversion type and a fixed currency to convert to, or providing a variable where users can decide the currency they want.
To get the rates into BW you can schedule a job (RSIMPCURR) with daily frequency.

Switch On Open Item Management by Changing Master Record
    Description
This program activates open item (OI) management for a G/L account and makes the necessary changes to documents already posted. These are then displayed afterwards as open items. It does not process the open items any further. In reversed documents especially, it does not reenter clearing data in the document.
    Requirements
No items can already be archived from this account.
Caution: Company policy must be in place to ensure that this does not happen.
Some G/L accounts cannot be managed on an open item basis, especially G/L accounts that are used in account determination for automatic transactions (for example, accounts set up for transactions MVA or VVA, or accounts which are posted to using posting keys set up for account type M).
Caution: Before making any changes, check that the G/L account can really be managed on an open item basis. If necessary, contact your SAP consultant.
The account must be blocked from posting since any new documents posted at the same time as converting documents and postings for this account would not be entered.
    Output
When using the list log, each document that was changed is listed. In addition, the total of the changed BSIS/BSAS entries and the total of the changed documents is listed.
