Currency in project

hi every one in my project my clients requirement is that they do project in different countries in that case my system should b able to adopt different currencies but in my system currency is coming from company code so i m not able to change that.kindly tell me the steps which are required to have multiple choice of currency in different projects (eg. for india project INR for US projects USD).

Hi Ashish,
you can define your own currency for the project while creating the project, provided no costs or payments have been posted yet in the WBS element.
For this do not default a Proj currency in the Project Profilev (well even if you do you can overwrite the default value while creating the project.)
Do not make the project currency field a hidden or display field so that you can edit it (How silly for me to give this advice (-;)
Conditions from SAP:
***If the controlling area and company code have the same currency, then you can specify an object currency for the work breakdown structure which is different. This currency becomes the project currency.
***If the controlling area and company code have different currencies, the company code currency is the project currency.

Ravi

  • Replicating Currency of Project in Extension Definition of type Price

    Hi All ,
I have created extension definition of type Price under Class project. Now my requirement is whatever the currency is being selected in the project document should be get defaulted in the currency drop down adjacent to extension definition too as it happens to Estimated and Budget fields.
I have seen methods of only setting the value of the input field for extension definition , Any one have idea of how to set currency unit of extension definition by scripting.. I have seen that the currency unit is having id as internalId_units. So did try to set the currency by scripting, but it dint help out!.
    Regards,
    Uday

    Hi All ,
I have achieved the required functionality by writing scripting at FieldDataEdit context keeping Target as Currency... and it is rightly populating my extension fields with slected currency over there!..but the new problem i am facing is only if the customized extension field is placed above currency field then only it's get populating!.. No idea why it's happening that way...
I have tried Page customization to change the ordering of fields according to my requirement but still it's not working!.
As alternate approach i have created extension definition of decimal type but the problem in this is it is left aligned text box where as the standard price fields are right aligned!..and i did nt find any way to right align it!.
    Any help wud be gr8!.

  • PA billing: project / invoice currency

    Hi,
I have the following error when interface an invoice from PA to AR: "The distributions for this transaction are in the functional currency, but the entered amount does not equal the accounted amount. Please recalculate the accounted amount for this transaction and resubmit AutoInvoice." I resolved the issue from the interface exceptions window in AR but I want to know how can I prevent this issue.
I have the following data for a project:
    - invoice processing currency = project functional currency = RON;
    - deliverable /event currency = RON;
    - project currency = EUR;
    The invoice is generated with:
    - project currency = EUR (OK);
    - invoice currency = EUR (incorrect) - and this generate error when interface the invoice in AR.
What should I do to generate the invoice in RON?
    Regards,
    tinar

    Hi Dina,
    Thank you for the answer.
I thought also at "Bill be Transaction Currency" but this issue appears on the projects only for one organization, on other organization (same setup) it doesn't appear.
    Even more:
    - this issue doesn't appear on all the projects on the same organization (projects with the same characteristics);
    - on an earliear back-up instance (three month ago) the issue appear for project A and it doesn't appear on the production instance (same setup for project A for both instances).
I don't know to be any patches differences between these two instances, I checked up the setup for PA ... what else should I look for to explain (or correct) the issue?

  • Project Revenue as in Project Currency

    Hi ,
Can we generate the revenue in the project Currency irrespective of Project Functional Currency ?
In Project Billing Manual -- It has been mentioned that If you select Project Functional Currency and Invoice Transaction currency as Revenue Transaction currency On your Multi Currency Project , The GDR Process calculates Revenue in the Invoice Transaction Currency ..
I tried to Check the Box in the Currency Tab Invoice By Billing Transaction currency and tried to select Revenue Transaction Currency as Project Functional and Functional and Invoice Transaction Currency but as soon as i Checked the Box , it get freezed and not letting me to select the Revenue Transaction Currency as Project  Functional and Invoice Transaction Currency .
Can any one help me on this issue ...if it possible to generate the revenue in Project Currency and how to set up the same .
    Thanks /Regards ,
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
On the Project > Options > Currency > Billing Tab
Please Enable Multi Currency Billing, then select Revenue Transaction Currency and select according to your need.
Invoice By Billing Transaction currency :
When the Invoice by Billing Transaction Currency is enabled for the project, you can generate separate invoices for a project by each billing transaction currency, even
though one or more invoices may be funded by the same agreement. Therefore, expenditures that are billed using markups or burden schedules to derive the bill
amounts are grouped according to their expenditure transaction currencies.
Revenue Transaction Currency options for your project :
Oracle Project Billing selects the Project Functional Currency Only option for revenue transaction currency. This ensures that the Generate Draft Revenue concurrent program generates revenue in project functional currency. To enable the Generate Draft Revenue concurrent program to additionally derive revenue in invoice transaction currency.
Project Functional Currency and Invoice Transaction Currency option :
When you select Project Functional Currency and Invoice Transaction Currency as your revenue transaction currency, the Generate Revenue Accounting Events process calculates Unbilled receivables and Unearned revenue amounts in invoice transaction currency.

  • Project activity currency

    Hello,
I am calling BAPI_PROJECT_GETINFO from outside SAP in order to get the activities for a project definition (i am interested in the activity actual cost). The E_ACTIVITY_TABLE table parameter contains these fields among others: CURRENCY, ACTUAL_COST, CONTROLLING_AREA_CURRENCY. The CONTROLLING_AREA_CURRENCY seems to always be specified while the CURRENCY field is specified only for some activities (otherwise it's empty or NULL if you please). My question is what currency is used to represent the actual cost amount and what does it mean when the CURRENCY field is empty? If the ACTUAL_COST field has a value (i.e. 1000), what is the currency used to represent that value?
For example, I have project X with two activities (activityid = 010 and 020). The E_ACTIVITY_TABLE would contain 2 rows; some of the fields of those 2 rows would be:
    row 1
    PROJECTDEFINITION: X
    ACTIVITYID: 010
    ACTUAL_COST: 1000.00
    CURRENCY:
    CONTROLLING_AREA_CURRENCY: CAD
    row 2
    PROJECTDEFINITION: X
    ACTIVITYID: 020
    ACTUAL_COST: 1500.00
    CURRENCY: USD
    CONTROLLING_AREA_CURRENCY: CAD
The first activity has an actual cost of 1000.00; currency is not specified, CO area currency is CAD; what is the currency used to represent the actual cost of 1000? CO area currency? project currency?
The second activity has an actual cost of 1500; CURRENCY is USD; Does this mean that the actual cost is 1500 USD? CO area currency is still CAD.

    Abhijeet, MCTS | [email protected]

    Hi,
You can go to Server settings in PWA, then additional server settings:
Then select the given currency. Note that you can enforce that projects must be published with this currency.

  • WBS Settlement Currency

    Dear all,
Can i know what is the defaulted currency for project settlement?
Is it would be the controlling area currency??
Is there any way we can change the settlement currecny to object currency instead of co area currency?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Eila

    Dear Eila,
You can not change Controlling Area Currency to Object Currency in Project Settlement.
All the currency-dependent data in the Project System is managed in three different currencies in parallel
    1) Controlling area currency
    2) Object currency
    3) Transaction currency
Use of Currencies in the Project System:
All the currency-dependent data in the Project System is managed in three different currencies in parallel:
    Controlling area currency:
The whole project (work breakdown structure, along with the networks, activities, and orders assigned to it) must be in one controlling area. For this reason, the controlling area currency within a project is always uniform.
    Object currency:
You can assign any object currency you wish to the following objects in the Project System:
    - Project definition (default value for matching WBS elements)
    - WBS element
    - Network header
    - Network activity
If you have assigned a number of company codes to a controlling area and the company codes have different currencies, you cannot allocate the object currency. The system automatically uses the local currency of the respective company code.
    Transaction currency:
Costs and revenues arising from different business transactions in the project are recorded in the currency of the appropriate business transaction - for example, the currency in which the purchase order was entered.
Planning also takes account of the business transaction currencies. For example, for an externally-processed activity, the system takes the currency from the purchasing info record. If no currency has been maintained in the purchasing info record, you can maintain it manually in the business transaction. The planning finance flow is always displayed in the project by currency.
Every amount in the project is translated as appropriate when you enter it and recorded in the database in all three currencies. You stipulate the currency translation rates in the Project System implementation guide.
    Reporting:
The commercial information system offers reports in any currency you want, in addition to those described above. The system translates the data using the latest rates.
    Prerequisites:
Currency amounts are only updated in parallel if you activate the All currencies indicator for the relevant controlling area.
    Hope it's clear.

    Sandeep

  • Budget Currency

We have one Primary ledger having Currency as BRL . Also we have a secondry ledger having Currency as USD .
Now we have defined a Project in Primary Ledger and have put the Currency of Project (at the time of defining the Project) as USD .
Can we obtain budget in two different Currency as (USD as well as in BRL )
Can any one please help on this .
    Regards,
    Prakhar

You are getting into a complex situation that few of use ever have to deal with. You cannot get a simple answer to this question. I suggest that you start by reading Chapter 6 in the Project Management User Guide (budget and forecasting chapter). That will lead you on to other areas to research. You will also have to consider the impact on the general ledger and doing multiple reporting currencies in there. If no one in your company has any experience in dealing with multiple reporting currencies, it may be to your advantage to bring in consulting help. Bottom line - you can do what I think you want to do, but it may not be easy to get there. You definitely need to study the Oracle projects user guides as a good starting point.

  • Use of Invoice Rounding Account

    Hi,
    We are on R12.0.6
We have setup AA rules for invoicing where we have specified invoice rounding account. When we are generating invoices, those are having decimal places.
We want total amount of invoice to be rounded to earlier / next interger. Let us know if system does it automatically. If it does not, then what is the use of invoice rounding account.
    Regards,
    Ketan

    Hi
Rounding amount is variance in SOB currency (primary currency) between the invoice amount calculated by Projects and the invoice amount calculated by Receivables. When you have an invoice in foreign currency then Projects convert the invoice amount to the project-functional currency usting Projects conversion rate. When that invoice is imported to AR, there could be cases were AR is using a different value for the exchange rate. In such case there would be a variance that get accounted using the rounding account.

  • Cube hang up is happening during Dimension Build process

We are using the Excel VBA tool for the Dimension build process. The tool will build the members in 3 applications(Atlaunch,ModeLife,Textcube). Most of the times cube hung up is happening at the Text cube. The dimension build process is described below
    Dimension Build Process :-
The dimension build process is performed by the Calculation and Dimension Build Tool.
Before executing dimension build logging in to essbase server is required through the tool
Once logged in the particular region where dimension build is supposed to be carried out is selected from NML, NA, NE and NS.
Per region there are 3 applications namely <Region>LNCH, <Region>LIFE and <Region>TEXT and per application there is only 1 database namely AtLaunch, ModeLife and TextData respectively. The cube structure per region is given below:
    NML Region:
    NMLLNCH.AtLaunch
    NMLLIFE.ModeLife
    NMLTEXT.TextData
    NA Region:
    NALNCH.AtLaunch
    NALIFE.ModeLife
    NATEXT.TextData
    NE Region:
    NELNCH.AtLaunch
    NELIFE.ModeLife
    NETEXT.TextData
    NS Region:
    NSLNCH.AtLaunch
    NSLIFE.ModeLife
    NSTEXT.TextData
The Dimension Build Process is carried out in 2 steps:
    1.     Project Master Code Build –
    2.     Grades, Line Options, Project Description and Reference Currency Build –
    Project Master Code Build:-
In the Project Master Code Build by the Calculation and Dimension Build Tool the following processes are involved
    •     Some members are dynamically created in <Region>LNCH.AtLaunch, <Region>LIFE. ModeLife and <Region>TEXT. TextData cubes.
    •     Some data is loaded in <Region>LNCH.AtLaunch Cube.
Grades, Line Option, Project Description and Reference Currency Build:-
Grades – Some members are dynamically created in <Region>LNCH.AtLaunch and <Region>LIFE. ModeLife cubes.
Line Options - Some members are dynamically created in <Region>LNCH.AtLaunch
Project Description - Some members are dynamically created in <Region>TEXT.TextData cube. After that some data is loaded in <Region>TEXT.TextData cube.
Reference Currency – UDA is updated in <Region>LNCH.AtLaunch, <Region>LIFE.ModeLife cube and UDA and Alias is updated in <Region>TEXT.TextData cube.
Note: Most of the times during Project Description Build we are experiencing cube hang up / no response for NMLTEXT.TextData, NATEXT.TextData, NETEXT.TextData and NSTEXT.TextData cubes.
Text cube dimension build process flow :-
    1. Introduction
The Dimension Build process in CDB system is used for adding new project information in the cubes (AtLaunch, ModelLife and TextData). The text files which are needed for performing dimension build are generated from the child packages and stored in the local system of the user (<LocalDrive>:\GCEP4\Input\CDB_DimensionBuild). The Dimension Build process is carried out in 2 stages:
    1.     Project Master Code Build
    2.     Grades, Line Option, Project Description and Reference Currency Build
    Project Master Code Build:-
In the Project Master Code Build by the Calculation and Dimension Build Tool the following processes are involved
    •     MsPr_DIM rule is used for the text file F0P_<Project>-<Milestone>-<Version>.txt to build Project Master Code in AtLaunch, Model Life and Text Data Cubes.
    •     MsPr_FLG rule is used to Load some data from the text file F0P_<Project>-<Milestone>-<Version>.txt in AtLaunch Cube.
Grades, Line Option, Project Description and Reference Currency Build:-
Dimension Build w.r.t. Grades and Line Options are carried out in AtLaunch and Model Life cubes which is not in scope of this document. Dimension Build w.r.t. Project Description and Reference Currency change are carried out in Text Data cube, so only those parts are discussed in this document.
    2. Project Description Build (Detailed process flow)
The Project Description Build is carried out in the following steps:
    •     First, any Lock on the particular PMV is checked. If not locked next operation is carried out.
    •     Database availability is checked next (whether any other Dimension build is happening that time or not) and accordingly the availability flag is updated in TextData cube.
    •     Next cache is set from high to low to carry out dimension build.
    •     After cache setting, one rule file at a time is taken (as given in the cfgDL sheet) and dimension build is performed by using the Rule file and text file (created in local by input packages) on the intended cube.
    •     For a particular Rule file “GCM_FDIM” which is used to build CCM information in TextData cube, the following steps are followed by the tool itself:
o     From the TextData cube all the child members under CCM member under Grades dimension are fetched by “GetMbrInfo” function (GetMbrInfo is used around 2000 to 3000 times).
o     The child members under CCM for that particular PMV combination are deleted (if previously build).
    •     New child members under CCM are build based on the information provided in the text file F1G_<Project>-<Milestone>-<Version>.txt
    •     Once CCM is build rest of the rule files are used to carry the dimension build operation.
    •     The Dimension build process is carried out by building dimensions as well as updating some flags (loading data).
    •     Reference Currency is updated (if required) at last.
Why this cube hang up is happening?
    Thanks in advance

53 questions, all still open. Would you mind marking them as closed as without at least the "question is closed" tag, there's no way for future readers to know if your issues have been resolved or not. I know that I personally use this board for answers quite often and it really helps me when I see that a question has been adequately answered. Points assigned to those who helped you is a nice touch.
Now to your question: did you by any chance change from one Essbase server to another? You didn't state if this build issue happens all the time, or only if you do all three databases, or much of anything in your post as to the actual process of failure, so I'm kind of guessing wildly on this. If true, you might want to look at: http://timtows-hyperion-blog.blogspot.com/2007/12/essbase-api-error-fix-geeky.html
    Regards,
    Cameron Lackpour
P.S. MMIC, GlennS, and I were just discussing your kind of build-hierarchy-in-Excel approach last week and how infrequently it's seen nowadays. Not a criticism, I personally like these old-school approaches, probably because I've built one or two myself.

  • Re: Creating Graphical User Interface Using MIDP

You may want to have a look at the ItemStateListener interface.
"This interface is used by applications which need to receive events that indicate changes in the internal state of the interactive items within a Form screen."
To see an example, see the Currency Converter project from the Netbeans IDE.
Strangely, I installed the app on my Sony Ericsson K810i and it doesnt update automatically , I need to type the full amount and press Ok.
    Maybe it depends on devices.
    Hope this helped
    Cyril

This is a very general question, but as a general answer, different screen are commonly handled by using different pages on a tab control and programmatically switching between them (you hide the tabs themselves) or by using different VIs. Monitoring for user interaction is done by using an event structure which will allow you to execute code when a button has been pressed. There are quite a few examples in the example finder (Help>>Find Examples) and some templates (File>>New) for how to do this.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here, here and here are a few you can start with and here are some tutorial videos. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).

  • Using Custom Controllers

    Hi,
I have a requirement wherein Iu2019ve to make certain fields (Project Start Date, Project End Date, Currency, Revenue Projections, Primary Unit Involved, Other Units involved) non-editable when PROPOSAL exists.
Iu2019m following the below mentioned approach :
u2022 Calling function u2018CRM_DOC_FLOW_READ_DBu2019 in DO_PREPARE_OUTPUT ( in IMPL class) to return the follow-up transactions of current Opportunity transaction.
u2022 Setting the value of a flag variable accordingly.
u2022 Using a custom controller to retrieve the value of the same flag variable in GET_I_XXX ( in CN class) method.
Iu2019ve written the code at both the places, but in the GET_I_XXX method, it gives me the following error when I try to invoke the get_cutom_controller method : u201CMethod GET_CUSTOM_CONTROLLER is unknown or PROTECTED or PRIVATEu201D.
Can someone enlighten me on this?
Any pointers would be of great help.
    TIA.

    Hello,
You have to do extract first your view controller, then get custom controller from it..
    Get the component controller instance
      lr_view_controller ?= me->controller_owner.
      lr_custom_controller ?= lr_view_controller->get_custom_controller('Your_controller');

  • Settlement values in transaction currency for a project

    Hi All,
We have peroformed results analysis and settlement for a project. System is performing settlement to profitability segment and FI. However, system is not updating the settlement values in transaction currency.
    Please advise.
    Thanks, Ashok

Thx for the reply. We are infact more concerned about the transaction currency values on project. Though we settle the project, balance is not zero on the project in transaction currency like it is in CO AREA currency.
Can you share your expertise on this.
    Thx, Ashok

  • Multi currency reporting in Projects

    Hi,
We have created a custom report for giving the overall project status. The data is captured primarily from RPSCO, QMEL, COEP, COSS and COFP tables.  Now our company is going for global rollout and include GBP currency in addition to USD. Whne I tried to change my report database to read all values in object currency, I am facing difficulty in RPSCO table. In this table values are populated under different ledgers when the currency is different. My problem is that the ledger number is not same across all clients.
Is there a way to get object currency from RPSCO like COEP... tables? Or I need to capture data from BPVG.. tables to get the object currency? Pls help..
    Thanks
    Raghu Kumar

    Hello,
If the object currency is other than the controlling area currency, then the system posts the values in the object and controlling area currency ledger. So this is a part of key field in RPSCO.
If you want to show the report values in object currency, then choose the record from RPSCO with the ledger of the object currency, similarly for controlling area currency, and then display the values of the fields 'Value in ledger currency' from this table.
    you can use the FMs
    CATT_KBPS_FIND_LEDGER
    KBPS_FIND_LEDGER
or the table TPB0L  to find the corresponding ledger for your currency.
I hope this should solve you issue.
    regards

  • Project Budget Return Currency issues

    HI,
my business has the following issue:
The Investment Management happens in Controlling Area currency (USD), while distribution of budgets to projects, spend & budget return happens in Local Currency (say EUR). So when project has a left-over of a budget that they want to return, they take EUR balance, convert it using budget rate of the day to USD equivivalent & make return. This creates an artifitial USD balance.
For example, 100 EUR were distributed to the project, 80 EUR spend, 20 EUR returned. EUR balnce is Zero, but USD will have some artificial balance arrised due to different rates applied on spend & return.
So I wonder what other companies normaly do with it? My business came up with a requirement of the following report:
Re: How to build Project Budget report with "IF-then" formula?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Daria

    Hi Daria,
My recommendation is to align budget profile settings between IM and PS, means using the Object Currency for both.
I do believe you have one IM program per country, therefore the Object Currency is possible to be used.

    Paulo
