Current SQL, highlighting management

Oracle SQL Developer version 1.1.2.25 BUILD MAIN-25.79
Running under WinXP
Issue description:
This feature is not working properly, if current sql is on a single line it is not highlighted nor the last line of a multiple sql instruction.

It turns out my habit of putting the terminator (; or /) on a new line confused me - the line of the current statement that contains the terminator is not highlighted at all on running the statement (unless it is the current line).
any new lines added to a statement after being runwill not be highlighted
When the current statement is being altered, the
highlight should be removed, as it doesn't represent
the result set anymore.I agree. With the current functionality, you can completely rewrite the statement highlighted as current and the highlighting will remain (so long as you are not adding new lines at the end) even if it has no similarity to the original statement.

  • Third party Certificate not showing up in SQL configuration manager drop down box

    Hi,
    I have an SQL instance that needs to use a third party SSL certificate for all communications to that SQL instance. I have installed my third party certificate via MMC and it is showing under the Personal Folder.
    However, when i go into the SQL configuration manager and right click the instance name > Properties > Certificates, it is not showing in the drop down box.
    I am currently using MS SQL Server 2008 R2, which is installed on Windows Server 2012.

    Hi,
    If the certificate cannot be used for SQL Server and hence will not be visible in SQL Configuration manager. Check the validity of the installed certificate. It may not has the correct DNS name.
    I suggest you request a new third party certificate from the vendor with the correct DNS name. Install it on SQL Server environment, then you should see certificate form the configuration manager dropdown box.
    Thanks.

  • Sql database management portal

    Where is the ability to "MANAGE" your database through the portal without Visual Studio or SQL Server Management Studio?  Most of the documentation in the past reads that you can connect using https://sqldatabasename.database.windows.net but
    this is not the case.  Has Microsoft remove the ability to use an online Management Portal in lieu of VSTS 2013 or SSMS?
    Andy

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn771027.aspx
    To launch the Management Portal for SQL Database, click a database name and then click the Manage button
    at the bottom of the page. If you are prompted to add the current IP address to a new firewall rule, click Yes.
    If you are connecting to the portal from inside a corporate domain, you might have to add the IP address of your proxy server as
    well.
    There is no "Manage" button any more.
    I believe this feature has now been deprecated as it doesn't work in either Azure Portal or Azure Preview.
    Can you confirm?

  • SQL memory manager latch at top of the list

    Thank you .. the pointer to the bug is helpful. We are having performance issues and complaints of slowness only during about a 2 or 3 hour window each weekday from about 7AM to 10AM EDT. This is definitely peak load. AWR is showing mostly disk i/o issues. Plan is to add about 20 GB more memory on the server. SGA currently at around 61GB with Automatic Shared Memory Management enabled. PGA advice showing nothing with a Cache Hit Percentage (%) 95.93
    I would look at v$sga_resize_ops (or v$memory_resize_ops) to see if there is pressure to move memory around in that time period. Your symptoms could simply be showing load on the buffer cache causing the library cache to shrink leading to agressive demands for library cache locks etc. If so, then fixing a minum shared_pool_size (or generally going to manual memory management) may be the best bet. Also worth checking if there is some inefficient SQL running at that time that results in lots of random I/O - eliminating the cause of disk reads may be the best solution to reducing demand for memory.

  • Load grid like SQL Server Management Studio

    Hi
    we have a windows forms project with grid.
    I would like to emulate the behaviour of SQL Server management studio where upon executing the query, the results start filling in instantaneously and the process continues until all results have been fetched. This way the user doesnt have to wait at all.
    Kindly advise whats the best way to achieve above.
    Many Thanks
    Abhishek

    In a virtual mode datagridview, you should only read data when necessary. The whole point of generating extra DataGridView.CellValueNeeded events is to give you the option of not pulling all rows, only for currently visible ones (maybe a little more
    for caching).
    You should at least cache the data of a row when a cell is accessed (it is likely you will query every column of a row). It also a good idea to cache several pages near the requested row, since the user may be scrolling up and down a bit and you may not
    want to hit the database for every single row or every even single page. The few pages near the top and the bottom are also hot areas that are good for caching.  BackgroundWorker is kinda clumsy for this task, probably better write this in TPL and queue
    data populating tasks when the user scroll up or down.
    The caching part is your business logic and is not provided by Windows Forms.

  • Get Current SQL in Before delete trigger

    Hi,
    I have created a before delete trigger to track which records are deleted from a table I need to know what statements fires the trigger. can someone please describe how I can retrieve the current SQL.
    using sys_context('userenv','CURRENT_SQL') returns null for CURRENT SQL
    Note:
    For me the easier is to enable auditing and audit delete on the table however at the moment I cant get a downtime from the business to bounce the database to enable auditing.
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER before_delete BEFORE DELETE
    ON AUDIT_TEST_TAB
    FOR EACH ROW
    DECLARE
    v_username varchar2(50);
    v_stmt varchar2(255);
    v_client_info varchar2(200);
    v_os_user varchar2(50);
    v_machine varchar2(50);
    v_program varchar2(50);
    v_module varchar2(50);
    v_auth_type varchar2(200);
    v_ip_addr varchar2(200);
    v_sql_statement VARCHAR2(4000);
    BEGIN
    SELECT sys_context ('USERENV', 'CURRENT_SQL')
    INTO v_sql_statement
    FROM dual;
    -----------insert into logging table statment ----
    end;

    A few comments.
    Lets assume you run a delete statement that deletes 550 rows from your table. If your trigger is working then the very same statement would be stored 550 times. I think an BEFORE or better an AFTER delete STATEMENT level trigger would be the better choice. Why AFTER? Because if the delete operation fails, for example because of existing child records, then everything is rolled back anyway to the implicit savepoint just before the delete.
    So to store the SQL statement the correct trigger would be an AFTER STATEMENT DELETE trigger.
    Now what to store: You want the sql statement. You could try to find the cursor/currently running SQL. It might be tricky to separate that from the SQLs that you run to find this out.
    It could even be possible to simply save all commands that are in your PGA/Cached cursor area. First find out yur session, then store the SQL_text (first 60 chars) for all the cursors in this session by using v$open_cursor or the first 1000 chars by using v$sql.
    Here are a few views that might be helpful. v$session , v$open_cursor, v$sql, v$sqltext, v$sql_bind_data, v$sql_bind_capture, dba_hist_sqltext

  • Not able to access database from a remote machine using SQL Server Management Studio

    Hi,
    I have a DB_BOX with SQL Server 2008 R2 installed. I can access the databases on the local machine using SQL Server Management Studio but it is not accessible from other machines, though the machines are in same domain.
    I have remote enabled on SQL Server box, TCP enabled, firewall off. I checked with IP Address too, all SQL Server services are running.

    Sorry, missed the message from the errorlog in the original post. You shouldn't have included that big .Net dump that hid the important facts. :-)
    My first Google attempt on that message (which I have never seen before) suggests that the TCP Enpoint is stopped, so try this:
    ALTER ENDPOINT [TSQL Default TCP]
    STATE=STARTED;

  • SQL Server Management Studio and Native Client different behaviour on delete

    I have a problem with transaction containing insert and delete to same table and some select/insert/update to some other tables. Problematic table has primary key defined as combination of column1 and column2.
    When two different instances using Native Client execute simultaneously this code and make inserts to table then delete part of code causes deadlock. However this doesn't happen when trying this situation in MS SQL Server Management Studio query.
    Is there some option that is missing from Native Client connection string which can cause this different behaviour?

    Hello,
    I don't think there is a difference in the behavior. SSMS uses ADO.NET and that Provider base on the Native Client.
    The difference will be more that way, when the transaction is commited and so the locks released. I guess your application keeps the transaction (much) longer open; you should commit a transaction as soon as possible to avoid long time locks and so
    deadlocks.

  • SQL Sever Management Studio intellisense issue in SQL Server 2008 R2 and in SQL Sever 2012

    Hi Team,
    Intellisense in sql server management studio is working fine when i am accessing the databases in my  local server.
    But Intellisense is not working when ever i am trying to connect to the remote servers with the client
    I tried different blogs and i tried to configure all the options i have upgraded to some patches upgraded for sql 2008 r2 client to sql 2012 client.
    But Intellisense is not working with the remote server databases in the sql management studio .
    Intellisense is working in the server but the same is not working when we are trying to access with client from our local machines.
    Please provide me help to fix this issue

    Did you try to refresh the cache by hitting CTRL+SHIFT+R?
    Also, these remote servers, are they SQL Server 2008 R2 as well or different version?

  • How to create a package without BIDS in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

    I have inherited some SSIS packages that I found I can edit by opening the .dtsx file in my local copy of Microsoft SQL Server management studio.  I then get Control Flow tab, Data Flow tab etc.  I can add or change or delete any of the control
    or data flows.  I have found that if I use the same path to the local file where the packages are stored that exists on the server, I can edit the dtsx file on my local machine and copy the dtsx file to the server into the same directory structure and
    sucessfully execute the package on the SQL 2008 server.
    I have VS 2010 installed.  I have read that I have to install VS 2008 to use BIDS from within VS.  However, this has not worked out very well.  Since I can basically create a new package by deleteing all of the control and data flows from
    an existing package, I am in pretty good shape.  However, I would just like to know if there is a way to create a new dtsx file from within Microsoft SQL Server management studio.  Also one thing I have not been able to change is the event handler
    name or package exploration name....it is just an annoyance since it does not cause any problems, just would like to be able to rename it.

    Hi Fred,
    We cannot develop SSIS package in SQL Server Management Studio. If we use SQL Server Import and Export Wizard, we can save it as a package but the package is rather simple.
    We use Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) or SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) to develop SSIS packages. To develop SSIS 2008 packages, we must use BIDS installed by SQL Server 2008, and the BIDS 2008 can only be integrated with Visual Studio 2008.
    To develop SSIS 2012 packages, we use the SSDT installed by SQL Server 2012 which uses Visual Studio 2010 shell and can only be integrated with Visual Studio 2010.
    Different versions of SSIS package have different package formats/schemas. If you can create SSIS packages project in you Visual Studio 2010, it means that you have installed SSDT already, and the packages you design are SSIS 2012 packages. If you open and
    eidt SSIS 2008 packages in you Visual Studio 2010, the packages will be upgraded to SSIS 2012 package format. SSIS 2012 packages cannot be downgraded to SSIS 2008 packages or deployed to SSIS 2008 server.

  • How to Install SQL Enterprise Manager ?

    The standard installation file which sap gives sql4sap.vbs doesnt install the Enterprise manager.
    How to install SQL Enterprise Manager (ECC6+Win2003).
    regards,
    dev

    Hi,
    Server type is normally "Database Engine". You can use the Dev. Studio to connect to various other types (e.g. Reporting Services, Analysis Service etc.)
    The Servername is the instance name you want to connect to. For a default instance it is your machinename, for a named instance it is Machinename\Instancename.
    Authentication can be Windows Authentication if you are logged on as a local Admin. For an ABAP System only Windows Authentication is possible, for a JAVA System the SQL authentication is necessary, so that you can logon as 'sa' with the password you provided in the setup.
