}has anyone a clue how to fix this?

as always. just got the idea a few minutes after posting. the problem was, that i cached the TextFieldUI in the textfieldui class instead of creating a new UI for every textfield. now it works fine.

  • GUI screwed up sometimes with Custom Look & Feel

    Hello,
    i've got a few problems with my JApplet. Im using a custom Look and Feel (Kunststoff, http://www.incors.org/index.php3 very nice) - my problem is that sometimes (often) my gui is screwed up - some parts like a JPane are not rendered in the custom look & feel, they are still default, but the buttons are. Or my whole dialog looks like a little puzzle - small pieces are cut out.
    I have no idea how to avoid these bugs, im not certain that this is because of the custom look and feel because i seem to have the same problems with the metal look and feel from java.
    I tryed to put a repaint() in my initiliaze of my dialog classes at the very end, but no success either...
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Appalling customer service. Problem with Infinity ...

    Placed order for upgrade from Bt Broadband to Infinity 1 on Tuesday 19th March. Was given installation date of Tuesday 26th March (Today). All started well when engineer arrived at 9am. He had already done the necessarys in the cabinet up the road so fitted the new master socket and connected the new modem to my existing BT Home Hub 3 (installed last march and been working OK ever since). Well all the lights on the modem came on OK but the hub would not connect to the internet, the 'B' was orange. Nothing he did would make it work. He went away after 2 hours, most of wich he had been on the phone to BT trying to sort out the problem to no avail. He came back a little later and sid that he needed to reconnect my old copper connection as another department needed to come out to sort it out. The impression I got was that they would be back later today or maybe tomorrow. How wrong could I be. Despite my landline being registered as my preferred contact number I later received a text message saying BT had tried to call me to tell me that my new installation date is Thursday 11th April!!!!! That's over 2 weeks away. I was fuming at this delay and not even being consulted as to whether this was convenient.
    I phoned the 'helpline' number (laughably misnamed)  and after going through the usual Indian call centre finally got through to a guy in UK who said that he could offer me a better date of next Tuesday, 2/4/13. Obviously I was still unhappy with this offer since as far as I was concerned they hadn't finished what they started today so my existing installation was  still outstanding. Wrong again - BT has closed todays installation (how can they do that when they haven't finish????) and I have to wait for the next available date for a NEW installation.
    Well, after a prolonged discussion and much banging of head against a brick wall I had no option but to accept the next tuesday date.
    Why should I have to wait another week? I would expect them to prioritise my installation and sort out the problem ASAP not just push me to the back of the queue. I feel that now they have my money they don't care that I don't have what I ordered when I expected it and what can I do - NOTHING.
    My thoughts are that there could be a problem with the fibre socket on my hub but as the engineer doesn't supply the hubs he couldn't try another to eliminate this. If I have to wait a week only to get someone turn up with a new hub, try it and it works, I will be absolutely livid. That could/should be done NOW.

    Well thought I'd give you an update on my Infinity installation.
    Quinn engineer arrived this morning about 10:30.
    He had no knowledge of the previous aborted attempt to install Infinity last Tuesday. I had to fill him in on the story and the problems as I understood them.
    He disappeared off to the cabinet to reconnect the fibre.
    He returned. Connected everything up. Home Hub still showing orange light.
    Looks like the fibre socket on your Home Hub may be faulty he says. Goes out to van, comes back with new Home Hub. Connects it and hey presto all is working wonderfully.
    He left less than 30 mins after he arrived.
    Of course I am delighted to finally be connected to Infinity but I am outraged that it was so simple to put right. I even suggested to the original engineer last week that it could be the hub faulty but he didn't carry a spare one to test it. He was going to try to get a spare hub but was told by someone at BT not to as it was unlikely to be the problem.
    So I have had to wait a week for someone to fit a new hub when it could have easily been done last week.
    My questions are:
    1 - Why don't your engineers carry a spare home hub?
    2 - Why was the original installation appointment closed when the job was not completed?
    3 - Why did I have to have a new appointment (originally 16 days after original date), effectively putting my unfinished installation to the back of the queue when a 30 min visit the same day or the following day would have sorted it out?
    4 - Why was the first engineer not allowed to get a replacement hub to see if that would help?
    5 - Why when today's engineer arrived did he have no prior knowledge of the 'problem'?
    6 - Why is the online order checker not updated? It has shown my 'new' appointment as Thursday 11th April right up to today. Wrong information is worse that no information.
    I'm sure you can understand that I am far from impressed with the utter shambles that BT has created over this installation and think, at the very least, they should consider refunding my installation charge as a gesture of goodwill.
    As I feel at the moment I am very unlikely to recommend any of my friends and family to commit themselves to a contract with BT.

  • Rendered Nodes in JTree, Look&Feel Problem

    Hallo,
    I make a small JTree and write my own TreeNodeRenderer which renders in each case a simple JPanel with Titled-Border an 2 JLabels.
    If I adjust Metal Look&Feel the rendered Nodes are displayed correctly. (The JPanels size is about 300x200 pixels)
    With other L&Fs (windows, motif, plastic from jgoodies) there is only the title of the TitledBorder displayed.
    I meet the Problem as i programmed a more complicated JTree with rendered TreeNodes.
    Do you know the problem and a solution? I don't want to setting up Metal look for my application.
    The following link contains the source of the example in an executable jar file:

  • Look & Feel Problem when switching to JRE1.6.0_10 (GTK error on fedora 9)

    Hi,
    I have switched a Swing app I'm developping from openjdk to sun jdk1.6.0_10 in order to track memory leacks (the profiler I wish to use tells me openjdk is not stable enough to get itself installed).
    Now I have problems displaying some of the GUI components : background in some JPanel herited classes (propertysheet l2fprod component), buttons on combo boxes.
    I get these messages in the console :*
    +(<unknown>:6330): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkButton to a GtkComboBoxEntry (need an instance of GtkEntry or of a subclass)+
    +(<unknown>:6330): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_realize: assertion `GTK_WIDGET_ANCHORED (widget) || GTK_IS_INVISIBLE (widget)' failed+

    As far as I know it's running fine under XP with jre 1.6.0_07. The problems occurs at runtime with jre1.6.0_10 on Fedora9. It's okay if I launch it with openjdk (but I can't use my profiler !). I didn't try other jre versions on my Linux box neither I know if the problem occurs under XP with jre1.6.0_10.
    Here's the config I have this problem on :_
    OS/Desktop : Fedora 9 (kernel 2.6.25.14.fc9.i686), GNOME 2.22.3

  • Look & Feel problem one iview differs

    Hi there,
    I have got a problem displaying one iview, one of the iviews in our portal uses a different background color. This color is not mentioned in the theme used within the portal.
    I checked the sap.useWebDynproStyleSheet parameter in the visual administrator which is set to default (false) so all the iviews should use the portal theme.
    How is it posible that this particular iview-application uses this different style. Is there some kind of override?
    thanks
    Ron

    Ron
    If you are using an iview which is build using an application say for example as JSP application and you forced the colors in the application then the iview will show the color which is coded in the JSP.
    Thanks

    When I use the default look&feel, it works but with a custom look&feel (com.birosoft.liquid.LiquidLookAndFeel), the color isn't changed.
    Does anybody has an idea ?
    thanks in advance
    sylvain_2020

    hi,
    you're right but when I do :
    <b>this.progressBar.setForeground(Color.RED);
    this.progressBar.updateUI();</b>
    Nothing changes. I found that the probleme comes from the look & feel that I used since the color is changed when I don't specify any look and feel ...
    Do you know how I could resolve this ?

  • A problem with PoE devices in the Topology view (LMS 3.1)

    Hello,
    the customer has a problem with PoE devices in the Topology View. :-( He doesn't see the 2960 PoE devices with the PoE filter enabled in the topology view:-( He uses LMS 3.1 on Windows.
    In the NetPro discussion I found that the list of PoE devices is in the following file:
    POECapableDeviceTypes.properties
    but I cann't to find thid file in the campus directory. In the campus folder are following folders: bin, etc, lib and www.
    Thank you

    The file is in NMSROOT/campus/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/ani/clients/campus/main/filters/POECapableDeviceTypes.properties.

  • A problem with RDP when WAEs was connected to the network

    The customer has a problem with RDP sessions on one Microsoft cluster server. The problem started when the WAEs (management and acceleration WAEs) are connected to a network (where a cluster is connected). Did anybody have the similar problem? The sessions are connected, but after some different times these sessions are frozen. This problem is only with this Microsoft cluster, the RDP on other servers are good. The WAAS is 4.0.17b14.

    Hi,
    I have the same problem as I write. RDP seems to get slower when I connect the WAEs and the login timesout before the user can type the username and password.
    I have ensured that "EPM Classification" is disbled.
    Check and see if Term-services are well configured on the TS server side. Maybe some config is conflicting with WAAS TS optimization.
    What happens when you set TS to passthrough?
    Also try this for your case;
    " HOW-TO: Configuring RDP and Terminal Services for Full WAAS Optimization
    Microsoft RDP and Terminal Services are, by default, compressed and encrypted. As such, the default Cisco WAAS policy for these applications is to apply TCP optimizations only. RDP and Terminal Services can be configured to allow Cisco WAAS to provide full optimization (DRE, LZ, TFO) which is a 2X-10X improvement over native WAN and 2X-3X improvement over the compression provided by Microsoft.
    Configuring Microsoft RDP and Terminal Services to support Cisco WAAS full optimization requires a change to the client and a change to the server.
    On the client, disable compression by editing the .RDP file for the connection using Notepad or a similar text editor. Identify a line in the file that shows "compression:i:1". Modify this line to say "compression:i:0". This disables compression for the RDP/TS connection.
    On the server, open the Terminal Services Configuration found under Start > Programs > Administrative Tools. From here, expand Terminal Services Configuration to Connections. Double-click the "RDP-Tcp" entry found in the workspace. Change the encryption level to "Low", which specifies that only login will be encrypted. Then, click "Ok" and close Terminal Services Configuration.
    Then, modify the Cisco WAAS policy on the configured device group (or explicitly on each of the WAEs) called "MS-Terminal-Services". Set this policy to "Optimize Full". "
    Anyone out there with a clue why RDP gets disconnected?

  • A problem with WAAS mobile client

    The customer has a problem with WAAS mobile client. When he disabled WAAS mobile client - all is working, but http is not working.:-( On the server the accelerated networks are configured.The browser send the http request, but the response is not received:-( For other clients it is working. Thank you for help.

    I have WAAS mobile server version 3.4.0.1460 on the Windows2003 server with SP1. Client OS is Windows XP. All clients who use WAAS mobile client have WinXP on their notebooks. All clients are on the same network. This client sees this problem when the waas client is active, disabled, and for now when the waas mobile client is uninstalled - it seems like waas mobile client changed registers for IE or FireFox - so all http answers are redirected to nonexisting waas mobile client:-(
    Thank you

  • Problem With ButtonUI in an Auxiliary Look and Feel

    This is my first post to one of these forums, so I hope everything works correctly.
    I have been trying to get an axiliary look and feel installed to do some minor tweaking to the default UI. In particular, I need it to work with Windows and/or Metal as the default UI. For the most part I let the installed default look and feel handle things with my code making some colors lighter, darker, etc. I also play with focus issues by adding FocusListeners to some components. I expect my code to work reasonably well no matter what the default look and feel is. It works well with Motif, Metal, and Windows, the only default look and feels I've tested with. What I'm going to post is a stripped down version of what I have been working on. This example makes gross changes to the JButton background and foreground colors in order to illustrate what I've encountered.
    I have three source code files. The first, Problem.java, creates a JFrame and adds five buttons to it. One button installs MyAuxLookAndFeel as an auxiliary look and feel using MyAuxButtonUI for the look and feel of JButtons. The next button removes that look and feel. The next button does nothing except print a line to System.out. The next button installs MyAuxLookAndFeel as an auxiliary look and feel using MyModButtonUI for the look and feel of JButtons. The last button removes that look and feel.
    The problem is, when I install the first auxiliary look and feel, buttons are no longer tabable. Also, they cannot be invoked by pressing the space button when they're in focus. When I remove the first auxiliary look and feel everything reverts to behaving normally. When I add the "Mod" version, button tabability is fine. The only difference is I've added the following code:
    if ( c.isFocusable() ) {
       c.setFocusable(true);
    }That strikes me as an odd piece of code to profoundly change the program behavior. Anyway, after adding and removing the "Mod" look and feel, the tababilty is forever fixed. That is, if I subsequently re-install the first look and feel, tababilty works just fine.
    The problem with using the space bar to select a focused button is more problematic. My class is not supposed to mess with the default look and feel which may or may not use the space bar to press the button with focus. When the commented code in MyModButtonUI is uncommented, things behave correctly. Even the statement
    button.getInputMap().remove( spaceKeyStroke );doesn't mess things up after the auxiliary look and feel is removed. So far I've tested this with JRE 1.4.2_06 under Windows 2000, JRE 1.4.2_10 under Windows XP, and JRE 1.5.0_06 under Windows XP and the behavior is the same.
    All of this leads me to two questions.
    1. Is my approach fundamentally flawed? I've extended TextUI and ScrollBarUI with no problems. This is the only problem I've encountered with ButtonUI. My real workaround for the space bar issue is better than the one I've supplied in the example, but it certainly is not guaranteed to work for any arbitrary default look and feel.
    2. Assuming I have no fundamental problems with my approach, it's possible I've found a real bug. I searched the bug database and couldn't find anything like this. Of course, this is the first time I've tried seasrching the database for a bug so my I'm doing it badly. Has this already been reported as a bug? Is there any reason I shouldn't report it?
    What follows is the source code for my example. It's in three files because the two ButtonUI classes must be public in order to work. Thanks for insight you can provide.

  • Customizing ADF Faces Look & Feel. Some questions & suggestions

    Hi everybody,
    We are developing an application with ADF Faces using JHeadStart. For the moment, I am studying the way we must modify the JHS templates to adapt each element to our needs.
    As it's told in the JHeadStart Developer's Guide, there are two ways to customize Look & Feel:
    1) Modifying the templates
    2) ADF Skinning
    I'm using both methods, but I feel that thay are not good enough to adapt the L&F to our customer requirements.
    My main problem now is in the ADF Table customization. I want to use ADF Table because it offers us a lot of features that are not in the jsf table (the selection column, the table overflow...), and is very usefull combined with the generated JHS code. But at the same time, it doesn't offer a lot of functionality in the look & feel customization. Using JSF Table, I can set the CSS style for headers, rows, columns, the table, I can set the border, cellspacing and cellpadding. But I cannot do
    any of these thing (or at least, I don't see how) with the ADF Table.
    Our customer (a government) have a strict definition of the look & feel of his web applications. They want we use their CSS styles definition file, so they can modify at once the Look & Feel of all their applications. Modifying the L&F through skinning generate other styles, not use the style classes in our CSS (o so I think).
    So, the questions:
    1) There is any way to set the suitable styles for the ADF Table components (headers, rows)?
    1bis) Why, If I have defined a new skin, with only just a few selectors, some styles from oracle are applied? Maybe because the render kit in the 'adf-skins.xml' is "oracle.adf.desktop"? If it is true, how can I make that they are not used, I must implement a render kit or can I use another existent?
    2) Can I decide how looks the select column (for example a button instead of a radio button)? Can I decide where does it goes (right or left)?
    3) There is any way to hidden the text Show/Hide of the showDetail in the table (the tableOverflow), as I can change the icons through skinning? If it is not possible, How can I overwrite the text. I need it in Catalan, but it is shown in English for this locale. Where is the message bundle I should overwrite?
    4) There is any way to force a tree to start fully expanded?
    5) There is anywhere documentation about the javascript functions used in ADF and their meaning? I think for example in the previous question. If I knew which javascript function I should call for expand the tree and its parameters, I could put the call in the onload event of the body.
    6) I use a selectInputDate. I have skinned the launch-icon, and I would like to do a similar thing in the chooseDate that is opened in a new window. But It seems not to be affected for my skinning directives (if I put a chooseDate in the same page, its L&F follow the skinning rules I've defined). I don't know if this dialog is an ADF feature or a JHS generated feature.
    7) There is any way to keep unmodified the id I've choosed for a component? (I mean, an inputText with id="hello" in a form with id="form" will have in the HTML an id = "form:hello", but I would like it to be simply 'hello')
    8) How can I control the position and the size of a dialog (the chooseDate dialog or a dialog I've created)? In the cases I've been testing, it seems the dialog is forced to resize depending on the content. I would like to know if I can establish a fixed size.
    9) There is any way to open a non-modal dialog? (which I could keep open at the same time that another instance of the same dialog)
    For the moment, I think I have no more question. But give me time.... :-D
    The suggestion I've to do is basically more flexible components for a better customization (for example, the styles settings I've talked about previously). ADF components are nice and powerful, but I think they should generate pages that follow the tendencies in the web development: tableless pages (I cannot understand the utility of the objectSpacer existing the margins), use of CSS for layout...
    Any answer, comment or suggestion will be welcome.
    Carles.

    I have been able to make the UIX 2.2 and ADF Faces LAF look near identical by updating the oracle-desktop.xss file within UIX 2.2 as follows
    <!-- Change the accent color ramp to tan -->
    <style name="DarkAccentBackground">
    <!--<property name="background-color">#cccc99</property>-->
    <property name="background-color">#d2d8b0</property>
    </style>
    There are still some differences:
    1) A black line appears on the ADF Faces on the 'menu1' facet selected tab below the text. DON'T KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THIS FROM ADF Faces or add it to UIX 2.2!!!
    2) In UIX 2.2 a bulleted list uses the HTML <li> tag. In ADF Faces it doesn't use the HTML <li> tag rather it constructs the bulleted list using lower level HTML tags with the 'bullet' becoming an image, in my browser this means the disc is smaller in Faces. The motivation for this change I think is explained via this post. Since I have no control over how this specific HTML tag is rendered it forces me to replace the /adf/images/bltdscn.gif file in adf-faces-impl.jar with a larger disc!

    May update this again if there are other things I notice.
