Custom metadata trigger rule in Retention Management

Hi Gurus,
I am new to Oracle UCM and URM. I was able to configure Retention Management in Server but had couple of questions in using it.
I am couple of custom metadata where in I would like to add that as part of Trigger condition.
Say for instance I had a custom field called ProjectFinishedDate. I want to write a trigger using that field.
Could any of you help me in having that custom field as part of Record Date field or any pointers how to achieve this.
Also in my disposition Rule I would like to do the same. Any documentation or any pointers or steps in implementing this would help
thanks a lot

Here's some info on creating custom triggers:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e10640/c11_triggers.htm#i2985600
Here's the main info area for dispositions:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e10640/c14_disp_instr.htm#g1433476
and, specifically, creating dispositions:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e10640/c14_disp_instr.htm#i1081409
I believe the docs are pretty good and have well formed walkthroughs, but don't hesitate to post if you run into issues!
Thanks,

  • Storing custom metadata values at document level

    Hi,
I want to create a metadata to store values at document level but looks like all custom metadata values are associated with document revision level. for example i want to store Parent document id value as part of the document because if store this value at each revision level then i will have additional overhead to update every time on each versions if parent document id is getting changed.
Please let me know Can we create custom metadata to store values at the document level?
    Thanks,
    Suresh K

    Hi Srinath,
I am sorry I think the word document created confusion. Office documents + Desktop integration do not have details.
I am looking like how to create a custom metadata that can be applied at content level. I had created custom metadata using Admin applets ->configuration manager ->Information fields->Add. Now this metadata is available for each and every version of the content. I could provide value for this metadata while check in the content or select the particular version and content action->update->change custom metadata value and click on submit update .This updates value for particular version.
I don't want to provide different  value for each versions because as per our use case the value will be same across the content something like Content ID and if the value is changed then it has to be changed for entire content so is this possible to create metadata that will store value at Content level.
    Thanks,
    Suresh K

  • Check in Similar not populating custom metadata value set by global rule

I have created a global rule to set the default value for custom metadata field creation date as current system date. This rule is working fine for normal check in but when i am using check in similar functionality of ucm the creation date value is getting populated from original content metadata value instead of default value set by rule.Is there any way to populate creation date as default value set by rule even in the check in similar function.
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Edited by: 906120 on Jan 5, 2012 4:42 AM

Check-in similar does not evaluate scripts in the "use defaultvalue" field, as it has to copy metadata values. However, you can add script to the "Is derived field" as well. Just don't use dprDefaultValue but dprDerivedValue=
This script will be evaluated before check-in operation and any value contained in the metadata field will be overwritten with value defined by script.

  • Need to pass custom metadata with Managed Attachment in EBS

    Hi All,
I have enabled Managed attachment in EBS.
I also want to pass few custom metadata along with managed attachment.
I have followed the section  "6.5 Configuring Managed Attachments Settings"
from the Application Adapter's guide at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e17953/c06_confg_attchmts.htm#BABIEIDF
but still i dont see the custom metadata in the Managed attachment checkin screen.
    thanks,
    swapnil

    Hi Swapnil ,
You will need to apply the following patch :
    Patch 13943045
Read me file has all the steps required in addition to the patch to get Custom Parameters sent with EBS request , please check it and complete the steps .
Once done , check to see if OAF is able to send the parameters .
If not , then check the request / response files from EBS to get more details .
    Thanks,
    Srinath

  • Feature Request | Allow custom metadata per table/column to be stored

Someone please correct me if there's already a feature that allows this...
I'd like to see a feature where you can define a set of metadata that can be stored per table / column, and perhaps a trigger that updates that metadata.
As a use case, it is sometimes necessary to find out how many records exist in a table, and the typical way of doing this is by running a statement like select count(*) from example_table;. With a large table, this statement might take a long time though, and certainly has overhead associated with it. If this is something that's done on a regular basis, like maybe even once every minute, wouldn't it be much better to store this number as metadata for the table that can be updated on inserts and deletes and then can be queried? It might involve extra overhead on an insert or delete statement to add to or subtract from this number, but then for some applications the benefit of getting the count quickly might outweigh the extra overhead.
Another use case is finding a minimum or maximum out of a table. Say you store a date and you need to find the max value for some feature in your application; with a large table, and especially if its a date with accuracy to the millisecond where an index wouldn't help much because most values are unique, it can take quite a bit of time and overhead to find that max value. If you could define for that column that you'd like to store the max value in metadata, and could query it, it would be very quick to get the info. The added overhead in this scenario would be on insert, update or especially on delete, the value would have to be updated. But in some applications, if you don't expect alot of deletes or updates on this column, it might be worth the added overhead to be able to quickly find the max value for this column.
I know you could probably make a separate table to store such info, and write triggers to keep it up to date, but why not have a built in feature in Oracle that manages it all for you? When you create a table, you could define with the column definition something like 'METADATA MAX' and it will store the max value of that column in metadata for you, etc.
I know that the overhead of this feature wouldn't be good for most circumstances, but there certainly are those cases where it would be hugely beneficial and the overhead wouldn't matter so much.
    Any thoughts?
Can this be submitted as a feature request? Am I asking in the right place?
(p.s. while you're at it, make a feature to mimic IDENTITY columns from SQL Server!)

I don't think what you mentioned is exactly what I was talking about. There's no min_value or max_value in the dba_tab_columns table; there's only high_value and low_value, and they are stored in binary. And I believe to be accurate in the use cases that I suggested, you would have to analyze the table after every insert/update/delete. So no, that's not the same feature I've asked for, although I appreciate the feedback.
Also, the num_rows in dba_tables relies on the table being analyzed too, so for a table that stores temporary date to be processed where you want to know the size of the queue every few seconds, it wouldn't make sense to analyze the whole table every few seconds when all you want is a count of the records, and it's also inefficient to use the COUNT function with every query when it would be much faster to store the count in some metadata form that is updated with every insert or delete (adding to a count and subtracting from a count with each insert/delete is WAY faster than analyzing the table and letting it literally recount the entire table every time).
So again, while I appreciate the feedback, I don't think what you mentioned addresses either of the use cases I gave. I'm talking about a different kind of user defined metadata that could be stored per table/column with rules to govern how it is updated. Not you standard metadata that requires an analyze and isn't real time. I also only gave a few use cases, but the feature I'm really looking for is the ability for users to define many different types of custom metadata even maybe based on their own logic.
Again, this feature could be implemented right now by creating a USERMETADATA table for every standard table you have, and then using triggers to populate the info you want at the table level and column level, but why do that when it could be built in?
Also, I don't really agree that having to create a trigger/sequence for every table instead of setting a column as IDENTITY is better. It's cumbersome. Why not build these commonly used features in? It can create a trigger/sequence behind the scenes for all I care, but why not at least let someone mark a column as IDENTITY (or use whatever other term you want) at the time of table creation and let it do everything for them. But that's off-topic; I meant it for more of a side comment, but should really have a separate post about it.

  • Losing out custom metadata info of few documents of a document librarby when migrated from MOSS 2007 to Sharepoint 2010

We have recently migrated from moss2007 to sharepoint 2010.We have a document library containing large no. of documents in it  & for those documents there are some custom metadata columns apart from OOB library columns . We have user content DB attach
migration and after that we can see blank value under the custom columns for some records. However interesting point is we can see this metadata is showing for few documents.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
What is your Office edition? When we create a managed metadata column in a Document Library, it will prompt that ‘Earlier versions of client programs might not support this type of column’. You should use Office 2010 to edit and create a document then save
    to document library .

  • Custom Metadata is not in Search Result result set

Hello. I have created a custom metadata xDAMAuthor. I have used it in a rule for check-in profile. Also have check-in a content by filling this field. Now the search form has this metadata as one of its field and I can search by using this field, also the search result returns the aforesaid content which I have checked-in. When I am looking into the SOAP format of the GET_SEARCH_RESULTS then that metadata is not there in the row of the SearchResults resultset. But if I see the SOAP format of the DOC_INFO of that content the DOC_INFO resultset contains that metadata. How can I solve the problem?
Note: In the Admin Applet->Configuration Manager->Information Fields, Enable for Search Index is checked for this metadata.
    Thanks.

the search result returns the aforesaid content which I have checked-in
And do you see you metadata in the results? I guess you don't. Unless you followed http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10797/c03_finding_files.htm#CIHEFHAI and created a custom search result template.
I am sure that GET_SEARCH_RESULTS have all the metadata from returned items somewhere (probably in a result set), but I'm not sure what's returned - it could be very well the row as you see in the browser. Therefore, you might tried to use your custom search result template in your call (in fact, I think for a user always the default one is used).
Should be easy to give it a try.

  • How to add a custom metadata to a file In UCM?

I am new in UCM. I have just installed and configured environment. My default configuration includes a file store for documents and a database for a metadata and search functionalities. I want to add content profiles to define the custom metadata options available during check in and searching. But I cannot find it in the administrator’s documentation.

Congrats on the new UCM instance.
in addition to the docco links from Kent you can do a quick and easy field add this way:
    1) log in to your system as sysadmin
    2) in your top menu (or tray menu if you have that layout) select Administration > Admin Applets
    3) launch the configuration manager applet
    4) click the add button near the bottom of the Information Fields Tab
    5) give your field a name (this will be inserted into the database and automatically prefixed with an "x")
    6) decide the data type, default values, if it is an option list or not, field label (what will appear on the search, check in and info pages unless superceeded by a profile rule and label) etc.
    7) click OK and be sure to click "update database design"
    You are on your way.
Remember, metadata design can be daunting if you look at it at its entirety. But if you break it down into small chunks like above, it becomes easy.
As far as profiles and rules go think of it all like this:
Metadata sits at the core (created/defined like above).
Profiles group metadata fields that go together and one metadata field may be in many groups.
Rules govern how metadata fields or even groups of fields should behave (hide / show / label change / automatic value derivation etc)
    Hope this helps

  • Editing and sharing custom metadata/keywords through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge

I am part of a four-person video production unit operating within a local governmental entity. We are currently using four licenses of Adobe Master Collection CS5, and are about to get access to dedicated SAN storage.
We would like each user to have the ability to assign specific keywords to any given video clip (or remove keywords from clips) within Adobe Bridge, and have the three other users see the same results. I've noticed that Bridge alone will allow for keywords to be added or removed, but this list is specific to each user. Importing one list into other users' profiles is a start, but would no longer work, once keywords are added or taken away.
The overview page for Adobe Drive 3 says that it, "allows users to edit and view custom metadata/properties through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge," but I haven't found any explanation in either the website, forums, or user's guides that delves any farther into this area. If we incorporate Adobe Drive/Bridge into our workflow, will we be able to share/sync keywords between users? Is there some other (affordable) solution that would let us do this?
Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer.
    Chuck

    Hi,
    Thanks for sharing your case.
The keywords you mentioned is XMP metadata, if all your digital assets are managed by ADEP CQ DAM service, you can use AD3 with built-in ADEP connector to communicate with the DAM server, then, I think it can meet your requirement, it means, the keywords can be set by one user through metadata panel in Bridge, and can be viewed by other users.
for custom properites, it's different from XMP metadata, it refers to the properties of one asset which is managed by a Content Management service. users have to use another UI to edit/view them in Br after AD3 is installed.
here are some requirements to use it.
    1) CMIS 1.0 compiliant server should be used to manage all your digital assets
    2) use the built-in CMIS with AD3 to connect to the server.
if other kind of servers are used, you should develope a custom connector through AD SDK to enable custom properties feature as well as some other handler required by AD SDK
    thanks

  • Get value based on column names for custom metadata field of Webcenter Content

In UCM, I created a custom metadata field of type Text.  I then enabled optlist in that field.  I populate values to the optList, I am using a View.  The View has three columns.  Let us call them ID, Key, Value.  OptList displays the Keys in its list.  I then create a Content (Content ID: MyContent) in Webcenter Content and choose values from OptList for my new metadata field (MyField).
From Webcenter Portal, I am populating a selectOneChoice with values of MyField in the Content ID: MyContent.  Remember from previous step, the values populated in selectOneChoice is the list of values selected from optList field MyField.  This optList is in-turn populated from View.  After the user selects a value in selectOneChoice, in Javascript, I need to alert a message in this format "value chosen - corresponding value from View of optList that populates MyField"
I think an example will be useful:
Here is a View that I created in Configuration Manager applet in Admin Applets of Webcenter Content:
    ID | State | Capital
    1 | North Carolina | Raleigh
    2 | California | Sacramento
    3 | Illinois | Chicago
Then, I create a Custom Field (Name: MyField).  MyField is an optList the values are populated from View created above.  The internal value and display value are both State.  Then I Check-In a new content with Content Id: MyContent.  For MyContent, I select these values from OptList for MyField: {North Carolina, Illinois}.
In my Webcenter Portal application, I create a Content Presenter Taskflow.  I configure it as a single item content presenter.  I assign MyContent as Content Id.  Then, in templateView, I get all values of MyField in MyContent and display them as selectOneChoice.  I created a javascript function that would get the value that user selected in selectOneChoice.  In the View created in Webcenter Content's Configuration Manager (above), there is a value corresponding to each value displayed.  So, for the selected value, I need to get the corresponding Capital and display it in my alert message.
From Javascript, how can I get the value of Capital, given I have the value of State.

    Hi.
The idea to achieve your requirement is next:
Create a helper manage bean that will be call as Map access: #{stateUtil['Calofironia']} (it will return Raleigh). This value will be get calling GET_SCHEMA_VIEW_VALUES IDC service using RIDC in your manage bean.
Pass the result of #{stateUtil['statename']} to your JavaScript function using <af:clientAttribute.../>
I hope this information help you.

  • Select Button beside custom metadata field on Check In Form

    Hi
In Oracle Content Server 10gR3, is there a way to add a "Select" button to User Alias Applet for a new Meta data field on New Check In Form? I tried creating a component but I don't see a select button being shown up. The button does shows up if it's a standard metadata fields but not for the custom one. Here is the component code. Any idea what I am doing wrong and how to fix it.

    Interesting!
You'll need a component. You already mentioned you had a custom metadata field. You will also need to add a counter to the counters table for your component. During a check in you will need to fetch the next value from the counters table, increment the counter and store the new number back in the table. The year portion of the id is easy, get the current year and grab the last two characters. Then, put this all togther to get the data for your metadata field.
The big question now is where in the check in process will you do all this? You will need something called filters probably. Maybe addFiles, maybe validateStandard, there are several that this could work with.
    Check out the how-to-components:

  • Rich Text Editor Option for Custom Metadata

    Hi,
We have created custom profiles for our clients. In one such profile which was created for news updates, client wants to have rich text editor in case of certain custom metadata fields such as description similar to comments.
As far i as i understand this can be achieved by creating region defintion which gives the option to create a web asset which can edited using site studio api. But is it possible to bring in rich text editor features for custom metadata fields in profiles ?
    Regards,
    Boopathy P

I'd suggest looking into the profile rule's "Use custom include" option.
You need to build the new control on your own, but you'll be able to plug it in via the "Use custom include" profile rule option. It's on the "Edit Rule Field" page.
You can also override the template, but I believe that's a lil' too hardcoded for best practices. This way, you can create a ckeditor textarea and apply it to any metadata you wish (of course, it's up to you to make sure the datatypes match).
Let us know if this helps!

  • Custom Metadata for Microsoft Word

Since Microsoft Word has a limited property/metadata fields and there is no budget to purchase a document management system, I am thinking of storing custom metadata fields in a XML file or a database.
Can Ultra Search be configured to search the Word documents by full-text and metadata fields? If so, how?

You should start by downloading the Acrobat SDK and building the sample plugins.  This is C/C++, there is no support for .NET.
Next you will need to read the relevant section of ISO 32000-1:2008 (the PDF standard) or a book such as “Developing with PDF” (from O’Reilly).  This is required to understand how the PDF file format and objects work.
Finally, you can then start looking at the SDK documentation around the Cos and PD layers to apply to what you need to do.

  • Adobe CQ5.5 Digital Asset - Delete default metadata and how to create custom metadata

    Hi
I am trying to create custom metadata for all format of assets (PDF, DOC, TXT, etc.,). I have created the dam folder under apps node as below:-
    Step 1:  /apps/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems
Step 2:  Included the four property as textfield and selection according to our requirement under formitems
    Step 3:  I changed the cq:allowedTemplates from /content/dam/jcr:content
Step 4:  I tried to upload the asset, I could get the custom metadata for Txt, Doc, PPT, XLSX
Step 5:  But for JPG, PNG and PDF I am getting the default metadata which is huge list.
How to control this one? I want my custom metadata only displayed for creation assets. Find the attached.
    CRX - Custom Template Configured
CRX - Custom Metadata populated for ZIP format
CRX - Custom Metadata not populated for PDF format

    Hi,
If you read the description under section http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/dam/how_to_edit_metadata.html#Creating New Metadata Property for Assets you will find yout the format for images and its different format stores at different location. So to deal with image metadata plz try below
    1. Create a "image" node under "/apps/dam/content/asseteditors" as sling folder and configure it similar to "/apps/dam/content/asseteditors"
    2. under this folder again copy paste the "/libs/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems" and customize it accordingly
Above will help you to manage with all types of images. Now if you want to have separate group of property for different image types then similar to above you have to create format node inside image folder for example jpg file type create a node with name "jpeg" under "image" node & configure similarly as you did for image.
I hope it will help you to proceed. Please let me know for more information.
    Thanks,
    Pawan
