Custom Report .csv export problem

I have set up a custom report so I can download a csv file with all orders starting 4/1/2014. It is working well except for one small hiccup. Whatever is in the very first position in the first row (the first column header) has a few weird control characters in it that hang things up when importing the file elsewhere. When I download the csv I have to open the csv, fix the first header by retyping it, and resave the file before I can import it into another application.
For example, if the first header is Company Type, the csv includes it as
"Company Type"
If the first header is Name, it is in the CSV as
"Name"
Any idea why this is happening?

additional details: I can only see the control characters if I open the file in Excel. If I open the csv in a text editor they do not show. However, even though not visible in a text editor, unless I retype "Name" for example, the file fails to import into another application, in this case ShipStation.com. I've also found that, strangely, I can only seem to fix the problem in Excel - trying to fix the file in a text editor by deleting "Name" and retyping it doesn't work.
Also, I am on a Mac if that makes a difference.

  • CSV Export Problems

    Hi All
An end user of my application has had problems exporting reports in csv format.
She gets the error Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk
I have not been able to replicate this issue as I have no problems outputting the data.
Does anyone have any ideas about what could cause this issue?
    Thx
    Kezie

I've been able to establish that there is no CSV export issue when using MOZILLA.
I tested with Internet Explorer and get the exact error "Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk"
    Any comments please?

  • Strange characters in report .csv export

    Hello,
When I enable .csv export in my report, a name like Chiràc Jaqués apears as Chirèc Jaqués in the csv.
I understand it has to do with charactersets but I don't know how to solve it.

    Hello Ingo,
thanks a lot for Your help. I have already talked to my IT department and they are looking for the solution of this problem, too.
Is there a documentation  about necessary settings in the browser to work with SAP NetWeaver Portal and Crystal reports?
The problem is that on some clients the PDF export is working and on another clients not. The settings of IE seem to be equal.

  • CSV export problem with multiple pages

I have a simple report with pagination and export to excel enabled. If I paginate from page 1, without exporting to excel, to any other page, then export to Excel, I get "No data found." in the CSV output file.
If I export from Page 1 first, then the export works great -- from page 1 or any other page I paginate to subsequently.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
    Thanks y'all.

    1. Usually, I make a static computation and make it conditional - if item is NULL.
    2. You got to make sure this is not the only item you need to compute.
    3. I never use default values, so check there is nothing entered there - default values are not transparent and they may cause unexpected behaviour if something else entered there.
    4. The best would be, while you are waiting ;), to create an example for debugging.

  • APEX Interactive Report - CSV Export Limitations?

    Hello,
I have an interactive report generated for some users.
The issue I'm having right now is that the results that the users need is over 100k and the export to csv option caps out at 65,535 rows. Is this a limitation on APEX Interactive Report's side and is there anyway to get around it so we can send 100k records (or more) to the users without them splitting the report many ways?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ivan

    Ivan,
I'm afraid that I can't answer your question. The APEX insiders will have to field that one.
As one that dislikes voluminous reports, have tried swaying your users that you now have this great interface to drill to the data you need versus downloading gobs of data and filling up their hard drives. Ask if there is something else your application can do that they would do with all that data in Excel.

  • Crystal Report .csv export not working

    Hi Folks,
I developed reports in Crystal Report XI R2 version (with service pack 6) and calling them from Power Builder 11.5. When I export the report to .csv format I see only parameter names with values (supplied to call this report) in csv file.
    For eg:
    Parameters are
    Start Date: 01/01/2012
    End Date: 02/01/2012
    CompanyID: 21234
    Regular output:
    colum1 colum2 ...... columnn
    data1      data2             datan
    data1      data2             datan
    data1      data2             datan
    ..... 10 records
    csv output looks like this:
Start Date 01/01/2012 End Date 02/02/2012  CompanyID 21234
Start Date 01/01/2012 End Date 02/02/2012  CompanyID 21234
Start Date 01/01/2012 End Date 02/02/2012  CompanyID 21234
    ..... 10 records
Please let me know what changes should I do.
    Thanks
    Indra

  • ALV Report performance & export problem

    Hi,
We have developed an complex ALV report which accesses the data from FI Tables like BKPF, BSEG, BSAK etc.,   There are almost 100 lac records in BSEG and every day around 20000 records are getting added to that.  Eventhough I have used specific search criteria, system is taking lot of time.  Due to this I forced to run the report in background.  In background also it is taking around 4 - 6 hours.
    1) How can I improve the performance of the report.  Especially to access data from huge database table like BSEG with lot of conditions.  Any best practices
    2) I want to have an option (at selection screen) to get the report directly saved in a Excel file at desired path.
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mallik

    Hi Mallik,
Already i faced this problem before. At that time i follow some precuations:
    1) Check the estimation cost for that report with the basis people.
    2) The selection fields mentionedin the select statement and fields order in the internal; table should match with order of Data base fields order.
    3) Define type statements and then refer internal table to that types.
    4) Define secondary indexes in the where condition properly.
    5) Add BINARY SEARCH to read table statement.
    6) if possible attach package size n to the select statement.
    7) Avoid nested loops and nested selects.
    8) After populating the final internal table free all the internal tables.
    9) check how much time taking for each select statemnt through SY05.
Hope this helps you. reply for queries.
    Regards,
    Kumar.

  • Custom Report with Problems and incidents

I'm trying to create a custom report of all problems and related incidents.  I can query the problemDimvw table, but I need some assistance linking to the incidents.  Anyone have a query or point me in a direction to join the necessary tables?
What I'm trying to get is Problem ID, Title, Description, and Incident IDs linked to it.  Thanks.

I know PowerShell can help you with the Get-SCSMRelatedObject command but you would have to write a small script to get that to work en mass.

  • ORA-20876 in csv export from interactive report = Possibly a bug?

    Hi Apex team,
yesterday i tried to download data to csv from an interactive report. The resulting csv file contained a "ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine" only and no other data. I played around with other reports in my application and had no problems with exports.
After some investigation i found out that the buggy report contains a column of display type "Display as text (based on a LOV, escape special characters)". When I changed this column type to "Standard Report Column" for example, the error didn't appear anymore and the csv export contained complete data.
Maybe this is a bug? The environment is Apex 4.1.1.00.23 on 11g (UTF-8). Is there a workaround available?
    Regards,
    Jens

    Additional Information
The problem seems to occur only if a Shared Components LOV of type "Static" is referenced in the IR column.

    Hi,
what happens if you take the query from IR report and create a new classic report?
On this report enable csv export and then try the export.
Maybe that (format) data are causing export to fail.
Try to export just one row in your IR report (and classic report), so that you add where rownum < 2.

  • Csv-export with dynamic filename or include a report footer?

    Hi All,
I have a question regarding the exported csv file contains a variable value as part of the file name.
I read the following thread and example from Denes here:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:39:2021865942697087
How to generate Excel file name
I created a test page per instruction and I could successfully duplicate the effort and verified the csv file contains the variable value if I click on 'export to CSV' from the link.
However, the application I am working on is slightly different. Basically in page 1, there is a 'download' button which branches to the page 2. And in page 2, in Layout and Pagination section, the value for the Report Template is set to Export CSV. In REport Export session, I set enable CSV output to Yes and file name is: &P20_REPORT_DATE..csv. Of course, I also have a hidden item &P20_REPORT_DATE whose value gets set in page process before header. Note: in this case, the user never really see the search results on screen when they click on the 'download' button which is different from the above example.
When I run the application, the file name simply doesn't show up correctly, instead it is &P20_REPORT_DATE.csv. It appears that the value of the P20_REPORT_DATE is never set.
Also, is there any way I could include a report header or footer to indicate when the report is generated?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi all,
    I'm using Application Express 3.1.1.00.09.
What I want to do is include the current date in the report filename. I created an item on Page 0 called P0_CURR_DATE, which is the value of "select current_date from dual". So, the filename I attempted to create is Vendor_&P0_CURR_DATE._report (notice the & and the . are included).
When I click the report csv report link, the popup window shows file name as Vendor__report.csv (that's two underscore characters with no characters in-between).
I think that I have figured out my problem. I originally created the item on Page 0, as "Display as Text (does not save state)". So, after I change the item to "Display as Text (saves state)", the csv report filename becomes Vendor_28-JUL-08_report.csv .
I guess that's the pitfalls of being a newbie!
Thanks to all who offered help and suggestions.
    Bryan

  • Ssrs 2012 export to comma delimited (csv) file problem

In an ssrs 2012 report, I want to be able to export all the data to a csv (comma delimited) file that only contains the detailed row information. I do not want to export any rows that contain header data information.
Right now the export contains header row information and detail row information. The header row information exists for the PDF exports.
To have the header row not exist on CSV exports, I have tried the following options on the tablix with the header row information with no success:
    1. = iif(Mid(Globals!RenderFormat.Name,1,5)<>"EXCEL",false,true),
    2. = iif(Mid(Globals!RenderFormat.Name,1,3)="PDF",false,true),
    3. The textboxes that contain the column headers, the dataelelementoutput=auto and
the text boxes that contain the actual data, I set the dataelelementoutput=output.
Basically I need the tablix that contains the header information not to appear when the export is for a csv file.
However when the export is for the detail lines for the csv export, I need that tablix to show up.
Thus can you tell me and/or show me code on how to solve this problem?

    Hi wendy,
Based on my research, the expression posted by Ione used to hide items only work well when render format is RPL or MHTML. Because only the two render format’s RenderFormat.IsInteractive is true.
In your scenario, you want to hide tablix header only when export the report to csv format. While CSV file uses the textbox name in detail section as the column name, not the table header when you view the table. So if we want to hide the header row of the
tablix, please refer to the steps below to enable the “NoHeader” setting in the RSReportserver.config file:
    Please navigate to RSReportserver.config file: <drive:>\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS1111.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer \RSReportserver.config.
Backup the RSReportserver.config file before we modify it, open the RSReportserver.config file with Notepad format.
In the <Render> section, add the new code for the CSV extension like this:
        < Extension Name="CSV"   Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
            <Configuration>
                <DeviceInfo>
                   <NoHeader>True</NoHeader>
                </DeviceInfo>
            </Configuration>
        < /Extension>
    Save the RSReportserver.config file.

  • Apply conditional formatting when a report is exported to CSV format

    Hello
OBIEE dasboard has the option to export the report data to CSV format.
But the problem is that on some columns of the report, it uses various different types of conditional formatting that tells, what to display when data is equal to one of those edge cases. So hence the report on the dashboard page shows accordingly which is fine.
But when the report is exported to CSV format, no conditional formatting is applied and all the raw data is shown without any formatting.
Is there any way to make sure that the conditional formatting is applied even in the data exported to CSV format.
    thanks

CSV is supposed to be a data dump .. i dont think you can have formatting saved when u download csv file.. try downloading it to excel and changing it to CSV
