Customized steps in ChaRM workflow

Hello SolMan Gurus,
I am in a project implementing Change Request Management in Solution Manager. Now my client wants to add an additional customized step in the standard process flow. Let me explain in detail. When a change request has been created, before it reaches the approver my client wants to add an intermediate role who can either confirm or disapprove. Only if the intermediate person approves, should the change request go to the approver.
Could you please help me with this scenario on how to do customization when it comes to add new roles in the ChaRM.
Thanks.
Regards,
Pan

Hi Pan,
1. you need two custom statuses (ie. "Confrmed by Special Group" and "Disapproved by Special Group")
2. you need two action to set the above statuses
3. you need to set the conditions of the actions so that the only show up when the status is "New" in the actions toolbox
4. you need to modify the Change Managers approval action conditions so they show up when the status is "Confirmed by Special Group" instead of "New'

  • How to set a custom column in a workflow task.

    Hello,
I'm looking for some assistance a bit with how to set a custom column in a Workflow Task.
I have a List Workflow that starts when an item is created in a list. The workflow, platform type SharePoint 2013, starts a new task, Task1, with Content Type 1. This Content Type has a custom column called Age. Once the Task1 is completed a new task, Task2,
with Content Type 2, starts and has the same column Age, as Task1.
How can I populate the Age column in Task2 with the content of the Age column in Task1?
Since I start the task by running "Assign a task to ..." Action I was thinking to copy the Age column from the Task1 to the list item that started Task1, which has a column Age as well, and then in Task2 to start another workflow - which is associated
with the Content Type 2,  that would try to read the Age column from the list item that started Task2, which was set once Task1 was competed - I know it's complex but this is how I was thinking.
The problem with this approach is that I can't get a reference to the list item that started Task2 to read the Age from the list item.
Is there a better approach? I use SharePoint Designer 2013 to design all this.
    Any assistance is appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hello Sebastian,
you can get the Age column from Task 1 and then update the Task 2 Age column with that value. I am not sure why you want to run another workflow on Task 2.
You can perform below steps to set Age column from Task 1 to Task 2.
    1.  Create Task 1 using Assign a task , wait till the task is completed.
    2. Get the Age column value based on Task 1 once the task is completed.
3.Create Task 2 using Assign a task ,  uncheck wait till the task is completed option.
    4. Update the Task 2 with Age column in Task1.
    5. Use Wait for the field to equal value , check for Task Status is completed or not.
    >>The problem with this approach is that I can't get a reference to the list item that started Task2 to read the Age from the list item.
you can get the related item from task list item to get the main list item.
Other option is, Use Javascript and CSOM  in task edit form to get the Age column from Task1 and prepoluate the Age value when Task2 is opened.
    Hope this helps.

  • N step SC Approval Workflow - PCW

    Hi Experts,
    I'm new to SRM.
We have requirment for N-Level Approvals Sequentially at item based for the SC .
The Approval Level needs to be determined dynamically , by comparing the Total value of the SC with the Approval limit maintined in the Custom Table. The maximum Level of approval is 3.
    Example:
    Workitem Should be triggered Sequentially.
If the SC has 2 line items .
    First Line item
When the Ship-to address is maintained, the Total values of SC - 3000£  and the Line item Value is above threshold value.
Workitem reaches Approver1 - Approved then
    Workitem reaches Approver2- Approved then
    Workitem reaches Approver3
    Second Line item
When the Ship-to address is maintained, the Total values of SC - 3000£  and the Line item Value is below threshold value.
    Workitem Shouldnot Trigger.
    Questions:
Do i need to maintain 1 or 3 process level at Config?
is it possible to check the Line item value at the Evaluation ID itself by copying the FM /SAPSRM/WF_BRF_0EXP000
, if so how to to know the for which line item(item guid) the Process level is been called?
There are three conditins to be checked for triggering the workitem
    1.Ship to party check
    2.Total value Sc check
    3 Line item value check
Which conditions can be maintinaed in the Evaluation Id?
Which conditions can be maintinaed in the BAdi?
    How to Achive the requirmeent.
Please Let me know how to proceed.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Custom step types and custom step data.

    Hello.
I have a good understanding of how TestStand allows custom step types to allow users to store custom data.
I have also read numerous posts about users asking for the ability to store some custom data associated with steps.
In my scenario I am required to write a sequence using a few third party supplied step types.
To assist in developing and debugging this sequence, we would like to store a container of custom data with each steps.
Option 1: Create custom step types.
This is really not an option, relying on third party step types. Any customization made to their step types will magically disappear, along with any custom data, the next time I install one of them service packs.
You may argue that I just have to ensure all custom fields are recreated before opening a sequence file. This works in my office when everyone is at edge with this, but in a few months someone will "take responsibility"
and upgrade the 3rd party packs without reading the entire upgrade procedure.
Option 2: Create links in Sequence Locals
This does work, but is not very associative. To work, the name of the Locals entry would need to be the unique ID of the step it refers to.
Also, it requires some more maintenance to insert new steps, and to remove stale references.
I really hope that someone in TestStand R&D reads this, and enables users to store step custom data, for example by adding a "CustomData" container to the TS property of the step.
    Regards,
    Ivar S.

    Ray:
    Thanks for answering.
I am aware that I can extend a custom step type by creating a new step type based on the first type.
For example, I have this 3rd party JtagExecuteTest step type, supplied by another solution vendor.
In my sequence, I want a custom error & failure handler, that needs information about each step as they fail.
For handling and logging purposes, I need each step in my sequence to carry information in addition to the setup required by JtagExecuteTest.
So I set forth, and modify the step type JtagExecuteTest step, along with some other 10-15 step types that the other solution vendor has put in their package.
This works like a charm until I have to reinstall or upgrade the package.
Because I modified the steps using their original name, all data I put into the steps are lost.
Next attempt, I follow your advice and create MyJtagExecuteTest step, based on the original steps. Again, I repeat this customization for 10-15 step types.
This works like a charm until I have to upgrade the package.
Now some wise guy at the other solution vendor has renamed a DLL or a function call, breaking down every step that I have customized.
Mush better, though, because I can repeat the customization process and the data does not disappear.
Still, this is just too much hassle just to put TestStand to some decent use.
If I could just click on a step, add my custom properties, and have TestStand retain those data as a user customization that particular step instance.
Much like you have Sequence.Locals, it would be extremely useful to have a Step.Locals container for the users to use at will.

    Ivar Svendsen.

  • How can I create a custom step that does nothing but make calls to a dll

What I'd like to end up with is a Custom step that
    1. Takes several string parameters
    2. Makes several calls to functions in a DLL
    3. Returns and stores error codes returned from the function
I've been through the KB article "How Do I Make a Custom Step Type".
This got me about halfway there; while helpful, it didn't provide a
reference for some of the questions I had, specifically:
    1. What sort of sequence action type should I start with (to use as a template)?
    2. If I start with a "Call Executable", do I need to specify the module when I incorporate the step into the sequence?
    3. How does one pass parameters in and out of a custom step type?
    4. How does the step type report progress/errors to the report?
    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

    Hi,
To interface to a DLL you will need to use either the DLL Adapter or the CVI Adapter, not the Call Executable adapter.
Have you been through the Using LabWindowsCVI with TestStand manual. This should answer all your questions, all the chapters are relevant.

  • Customizing request for a workflow

    Dear experts,
I have created a workflow. I want to move the workflow from one client to other for testing it. For this i need to transport workbench and customizing requests of my workflow. Can you please tell me how to find the workbench and customizing request of my workflow. Is there any option in SWDD which will show the specific workflow & customizing request for that workflow.

    Hi,
se01 will help you find the transport with your workflow but not the any other transports which may be part of your workflow project.
se10 transaction can be used to see transports by user.  Check off both customizing and workbench requests since you will have both types of transports.  The user id needs to be that of the developer that created the transport.  Modified vs Released - select both if you are not sure if the transports have been released or not.

  • Creating a step type "launcher" that would insert the appropriate built-in or custom step type at edit time

    Hi everybody,
I'm looking for tips, pointers,directions... to be able to perform this operation in TS 4.0 sequence Editor, if it's even possible...
I'm managing a test system with a "home-made" virtual instruments abstraction Layer complementary to IVI classes for instruments which do not have classes defined, customizing the sequence editor accordingly for developpers of my department.
So basically when the instrument is IVI, the developper uses the built-in IVI step-type type and when it is not, he uses the the custom step types that I developped for this particular class of instruments.
However there are classes where I do have both IVI and specific drivers available and I do need to use both in the test sequence.
For example let's say there are two sources of DC power available in the testbench, one being a programmable IVI compliant DC power supply, and the other one composed of fixed "blocks" of DC power supply managed by externals relays and you need to use them both in the test sequence.
What I would like to be able to do in the sequence editor is inserting the appropriate step type at edit time just by selecting the source of power supply (by a ring or enum for eg), and if the first ressource is selected, it inserts IVI step type, and if the second ressource is chosen, it inserts the appropriate custom step type.
Any Ideas on how to accomplish this ?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Cyril,
Here is an idea that could be done:
You could create a dynamic step by having a step that holds all the properties for both configurations (the superset of the necessary variables) and an extra one that indicates which 'mode' the step is in.  Then you create the main Edit substep in whichever language you desire.  That substep window will then have a box/dropdown/etc. at the top you can use to choose between modes A & B.  When the user changes the value, you would dynamically change the rest of the window to contain the appropriate properties for mode A or B.  You then copy the property values in that window to the Step properties, and copy the mode to your variable and you can run the step in that mode.  When the step then runs, it checks the mode variable, and depending on its value, it will run the step in mode A or B.
Now we could add a dialog that allows us to choose when we put a step down but we should still allow the user to change later via the Edit substep we create.
I don't think we can create something that inserts a completely different step, but we can have one step that has the ability to do both and we can pick which one we execute.  Also note we still don't have the ability to edit the Panels for a step, so we have to use a new window that we call from our Edit substep to complete the step.
    Hope this helps.

  • Special G/L Indicator: which customizing steps to set them?

    Hi All,
could anyone show me the customizing steps for Special G/L Indicators?

Execute T Code FBKP and click on Special G/L.  In the following screen, click on Create (F6) button and configure Special G/L indicators for account type D (Customer) and/or K (Vendor) as required.  Specify the recon. account assigned to customer/vendor master data and the alternate recon. account to which the general ledger posting should go to.  Create master data of the alternate recon account.  In FB01, etc., use posting key 09/19 for customers and 29/39 for vendors so you could post with the special GL indicators created.

  • How to use LOOP(Until) step in a Workflow

    Hi,
How to use LOOP(Until) step in a Workflow?
What are the steps involved in using the step LOOP(Until).

Hmmm... using it is just like using a LOOP UNTIL statement in any programming language. You get at least one loop iteration, as opposed to a WHILE loop which may give you zero iterations.
You simply insert a node of this type in the workflow, and magically there will be a loop inside which you can insert the steps you want to execute in the loop, and by double-clicking at the end node of the loop you can enter the condition for exiting.
What exactly is it you are having trouble understanding about the use of it?

  • How can I include multiple limits in the sequence file documentation for custom step type?

    Hi,
I have a custom Step Type that contains Measurements property under Results. Its type is Array of NI_LimitMeasurement.
I would like to see the values in the sequence file documentation like NI_MultipleNumericLimitTest type.
Is there any trick to do that?
    Thanks,
    Andras

    Hi Andras,
I have made  a slight change to the sequencefile 'docgen_txt.seq'.
In the Sequence 'Step Doc' is a section which handles MultipleNumericLimit step type. There is a precondition check on the step 'Add Multiple Numeric Limits' if the step is of type 'NI_MultipleNumericLimit'. As your step type is based on the MultipleNumeric Limit type, I have just removed this precondition and just relied on the existence of Parameters.Step.Result.Measurement. Equally you could add a new section in this sequence to handle your Custom Step Type which is only called when the precodition match your type name.
Now when you run the DocGen tool it handles your custom step type.
Find attached my modified sequencefile 'docgen_txt.seq'.
Just copy the contents of '..\National Instruments\TestStand 3.5\Components\NI\Tools\DocGen' to the User folder. Then place the attached file in the User\Tools\DocGen overwritting the version that is in that folder.
Then launch TestStand and try it out on your sequence file.
If you are using the html version, then you will have to make the same change into Step Doc sequence of the docgen_html sequence file.
    Hope this helps

  • Workflow Questions - How to execute the steps in a workflow automatically?

    I am using MDM 5.5 SP6.
My Question is how to execute the steps in the workflow automatically. That means NO user interaction.
    I have a simple workflow, Start- Process -- Syndicate -  Stop.
When a new record added /updated/inserted this workflow will start automatically.  The workflow inbox, the workflow status is u2018Receivedu2019 Step is u2018Processu2019.  Now I have to right click on the record then u2018Next Stepu2019 then click on u2018Syndicateu2019 then workflow completes automatically.
How to execute the Syndication step automatically?.  I donu2019t want to have any user interaction to syndicate these records.
    Is this possible?
The reason for this is I want to do some field validation and based on the field validation some assignments then then I want  to syndicate these records without user interaction..

    Hi,
If you want to do some validations and then based on result assignments on some of the fields before syndicating, then you have to use workflow. Only syndication server will not fulfill this requirement.
you may try by making validation's automatic property as "Error". This way it will not allow to add any record not fulfilling validation. You can also try using calculated fields instead of assignment.
I am not sure if you can make your workflow fully automatic, because atleast one process step is must for any workflow, and process step means user action.

  • Can we add custom steps by default in startup, main and cleanup sequence

I have made some of the custom steps which i want by default to be included in start up,main and clean up sequence when ever i press for a new sequence. I am using teststand4.0.Cna any help mein this regard.

    Hello kpraveen,
Ray is correct in that you would need to create a Sequence File that loads a new sequence file into memory, then adds the specified step to the setup, main, and cleanup step groups of the new sequence files main sequence, and finally loads the new sequence file into the Sequence Editor. I've gone ahead and put together an example sequence that implements
this. This example sequence places a Message Popup step in the setup,
main, and cleanup step groups of a new sequence file (name will be
"<no path>") loaded into the Sequence Editor. Once you've modified this sequence to load your custom steps, it is up to you where you place it for use in the toolbar.
As Ray suggested, I believe the Tools Menu would be the best place to have this feature since the Tools menu is not process model dependent. To add this option to the Tools Menu:
    1. Go to Tools»Customize.
    2. In the Items Text field select where you want to place this option in the Tools Menu list and click Add.
    3. In the Add Tools Menu Item window, select Sequence as the Item Type from the drop down menu.
    4. Browse to New Custom Sequence File.seq in the Sequence File field then select Main Sequence in the Sequence field.
    5. Click OK to exit the Add Tools Menu Item window.
    6. In the Customize Tools Menu window, change the name of your Tools option in the Item Text Expression field. For example I changed the Item Text Expression field to "New Custom Sequence File".
    6. Click OK to exit the Customize Tools Menu window.
    7. Now if you go to Tools, you should see the New Custom Sequence File option and once clicked, it should load a new sequence file with your specified steps in the Setup, Main, and Cleanup step groups.
This should get you on your way kpraveen. Good luck!
