Demantra workflow - Container step contain Custom step -- Is it support?

I want to run multiple step in parallel, create 3 workflow schema
1. TestDetail1
2. TestDetail2
3. TestMain
In TestMain schema, I use container step to contain two custom step(to launch TestDetail1 and TestDetail2).
I start the workflow and process stuck at container step, message like:
Process ID: 3483
Schema ID: 1028
Schema name: ''XXDMTEST1''
Step ID: ''Step1''
Step name: ''Step1''
Error description ''Program internal error: null , internal step in container step: ''Step2''''

Hello,
I am currently having the exact same requirement and facing the same error.
Would be obliged if anybody could share any information / workaround you found to achieve the same functionality.
Thanks !

I did following step in your VS project.
    Remove SendMailActivity from TestWorkflow.Xaml
    Commented out "[assembly: XmlnsDefinition("wf://workflow.windows.net/$Current/$Activities", "SharedActivities")]
" line from SharedActivities assemblyInfo.cs file
    build the project
    Added SendMailActivity activity in TestWorkflow.xaml

  • Workflow containing impersonation step is producing error

    Hi,
i have a workflow containing Impersonation step. i have 2 users as site collection admin. one is service account and another is normal user account.
when i publish the workflow containing impersonation step with the user who is a site collection Admin. the workflow is working perfectly.
but when i publish the workflow containing impersonation step with the service account who is also the  site collection Admin. the workflow is not working. it is throwing "Error Occurred".
what could be the error. pls help me.
    Thanks.

If I publish my workflow with impersonation steps as a site owner my workflow is still run as System Account. - why is that and can I avoid that? I would
like my workflow impersonation step to run as the site owner who publish the workflow. I do not understand what prevents me from doing what all references I can find cite: ‘that my impersonation step should be running under the account who published it’.

  • Adding two characters to all the element of workflow container

    Hi All,
I want to prefix two character to all the elements of a particular "multiline" workflow container.
    How can i do this?
Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Ritesh

you will have to use a custom method as step and pass the multiline attribute and loop at it, add and modify the multiline variable of the container. No other way possible, within workflow builder.

  • Database table for Workflow Container values

    hi,
I am on SAP ECC 6.0
I am trying to find workflow id number starting from document number
I try to find database table which has containe values of the workflow instances so that I can get workflow/workitem instance numbers for the document
this is custom workflow and it is not based on business object type. so checking container values is the onlyway I can get the workflows
but I am not able to find any table for it
    I have checked following
    SWW_CONT
    SWW_CONTOB
    SWWVCONTWI
    SWXML_CONT
    SWJ_CONT
    SWJPCONT
    SWJSCONT
    SWPCMPCONT
    SWU_CONT1
    SWUOCONT1
    almost all the SWCONT tables
Morever I put St05 trace to see all the tables in database operations while triggering the workflow
but the only tables seen here are
    SWWHRINDEX
    SWD_CONT
    SWWWIHEAD
    SWWCNTP0
    SWWLOGHIST
    SWWWIRET
SWWCNTP0  is Workflow Container: XML Database (P0)
but it is XML structure data. so its of new use to query container fields.
is this reason because of any workflow design or system config ?
how to read container values from database tables in such case?
    thanks
    bhakti

    Hi,
    >i need to display an ALV list with list of invoices and whether the workflow is awaiting / approved / rejected for review / approval. and who did the approval / rejection action
This you should be able to read from container now, if you have FIPP instance.
    >the workflow has two steps - review and approve and so i would query table swwwihead for the parent id of workflow and then based on task number see which is ready status task and find if its awaiting approval or rejection
Don't do any selects to SWWWIHEAD unless you have some really specific reason. Just use SAP_WAPI* functions. You should be able to get each depended work item etc. easily with the standard functions.
    >apart from this, several data like amount values, reference document, creation date and whole lot of invoice item and header level data is required which needs to be taken from workflow container
Why would you read this data from container? This data is in the SAP tables VBKPF, etc. There should be even functions to get all data related to an invoice - try to search for example with READPRELIMINARY* (read preliminary invoice).
    In general:
    1) if you have invoice number, get all related work items with a SAP_WAPI* function
    2) if you have only the top WI ID, use SAP_WAPIDEPEND function to get the depended work items
    3) with above function you probably will get also the status of the tasks / work items, so you don't need select in SWWWIHEAD
    4) Now you have the "status" and the workflow data for the invoice
    5) read the invoice data from standard FI tables (unless there is some specific reason to get it from WF container, and if there is, then I think that you might be having some fundamental problems in your design)

  • Retrieve workflow container data in programming exit

I am trying to use a programming exit in Workflow in order to amend the task container for the receipients field of a "Send Email" step. The reason why we are not determining the receipients in the usual way is because we hold the receipients (amongst other data) in a separate Z* table - this needs to stay this way.
I created a class and copied method CHANGE_CONT_ELEMENT to base my altered code on. The method is triggered fine when testing the workflow. Here is what it now looks like:
    method CHANGE_CONT_ELEMENT .
DATA: container TYPE REF TO if_swf_cnt_container,
            if_swf_cnt_container,
            cont TYPE REF TO IF_SWF_IFS_PARAMETER_CONTAINER,
            name TYPE swfdname,
            lh_wihandle TYPE REF TO if_swf_run_wim_internal,
            l_exception TYPE REF TO cx_swf_cnt_container,
            l_wiid TYPE sww_wiid,
            w_container type ref to IF_SWF_IFS_PARAMETER_CONTAINER,
            w_names type SWFDNAMTAB,
            wa_names type line of SWFDNAMTAB,
            w_value(30).
      w_container = me->m_ctx->GET_WI_CONTAINER( ).
      w_names = w_container->LIST_NAMES( ).
    data: w_name type SWFDNAME.
    w_name = 'TEST-NUMBER'.
    TRY.
      loop at w_names into wa_names.
        CALL METHOD w_container->get
         EXPORTING
          name       = wa_names.
      endloop.
    CATCH CX_SWF_CNT_ELEM_NOT_FOUND .
    CATCH CX_SWF_CNT_ELEM_TYPE_CONFLICT .
    CATCH CX_SWF_CNT_UNIT_TYPE_CONFLICT .
    CATCH CX_SWF_CNT_CONTAINER .
    ENDTRY.
    ENDMETHOD.
Now w_names retrieves the names of the fields fine (including my "TEST" entry which I declared in the Workflow Builder), but the GET method causes a "CX_SWF_CNT_ELEM_NOT_FOUND" exception.
Is this the correct way to retrieve data out of a Workflow container within a WF programming exit? What am I doing wrong?

  • How to create a container element in workflow container

    Hi,
I am learning WF by a Tutorial. In which absence of notification was considered as example. As per tutorial, I created two task for creating a Notification and checking a absence
In the next step it ask to create a container element(approver) to workflow container. How i can create the same.
Also, please clarify me on the binding between task container and workflow container....with this example
    Thanks
    Suresh

    Hi,
On the workflow builder LEFT side below the navigation area u can see this <Double-Click to Create>.
Double click and create the container.
During binding it looks as follows.
    Workflow  -
    >   Task
    Workflow <----
    Task
What happen here is from workflow the data passed to task and it is used for processing, after that it returned back to the workflow. Now u can create the container on bothside and bind the data. ie Variables.
    Creating container u can refer : http://www.****************

  • Workflow issue - Main workflow container elements are not updated.

    Hi All
We have implemented N-step badi for approval process and for this we have activated one workflow which contains subworkflow .
During approval process , only the subworkflow container elements( approver list and last approver) getting updated with status and time. But main workflow container elements is not updating with these details.
Binding between main workflow and subworkflow is perfect. But reverse binding ( from subworkflow -> main workflow ) will take place once subworkflow is completely finished. But here we will require / need to pass some information from sub workkflow to main workflow when still subworlflow in process( before completed itself).
Please let me know is there any process / steps is required to pass values between subworkflow to main workflow ( binding is perfect).
Please let me the way how I can update the main workflow container from  subworkflow container or from any step in sub workflow .
In subworkflow . we have loop of  approvers and it will send workitems to approvers one by one.
Here i need to update Main workflow with the information like last approver and approver list with status and approved time.
So please suggest how Can I update main workflow container from subworkflow while subworkflow is still in process( subworkflow not yet completed).
    Kindly reply me ASAP.
    Thanks and Regards
    Madhukar .

Yes I am setting SWC_SET_ELEMENT for my container values, the ones for which i have defined as EXPORT.
And I have checked the task also...
Everything has been checked properly..The binding is fine.

  • Workflow container elements as attachment in an activity

    Hi @ all
Iu2019m searching for a resolution to display a multiple attachment in an activity of my workflow.
    The scenario is as follows:
An Activity should display the image, a generated attachment (from the User decision before) & the workflow conatainer elemnts of the included task. So far so good. The image and the attachment are displayed in the next activity, but how can I display the container elements?
I need them because the user dynpro-inputs are stored in it. I generate the elements in my task and bind them from the workflow container. And now? What is the next step to get them in an attachment?

  • Workflow Condition Step Failing

    Hi All,
I am facing a very peculiar error.
I have two outcomes modelled  depending on a varible (Material Type) in the worklfow.
My workflow gets triggered when I push SUBMIT button on my ADOBE interactive form on ABAP Web Dynpro launcehd
from UWL. Now if i check the workflow container, the variable is set properly. But still the condition fails. A backgorund task
having import parameters as Owrkflow container elements fails with an exception even though the import parameters are set.
But yes, again the workflow container same elements can be displayed on any form in further steps by reading the container
from ABAP webDynpro launched from UWL. Peculiar !!!
The same workflow works fine if I directly set the variables and test the workflow.
Why this ?..... Any Idea.... ? If something is written on to the workflow container can the workflow work on those variables ?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Deb

    Hi Rick,
Thanks for your suggestions. Actually we could solve it ina different way. It was a nice but tricky error in muy coding.
Here is what I was doing:
    1)  I tirgger my workflow on click of 'SUBMIT' button on my ADOBE interactive in AWD
    2) Then I get the instance of the workflow to get the Workflow Work Item ID
    3) Now I write the form data to the workflow container.
Note: By the time I write to my container, my workflow had been already triggered, with the condition step at the 1st.
And the container is not yet written, hence the condition fails.
Solution:  I used a wait step. And Read the workflow container in loop untill the container elements are populated.
Once out of this loop, I now tirgger the write to the container and raise the wait event.
    Cheers !!

  • How to trigger workflow from WDA and read workflow container into WDAscreen

    Dear Expert,
Please suggest the solution for the following requirement:
       1. Create 1 leave request from WDA and submit for approval
       2. When User press "submit" button in WDA screen, workflow will be triggered for processing approval  .
       3. When 1 request is sent to approver, he logon into portal and access to UWL to process task himself.
       4. After he press approval link, the system will call WDA screen to process approval ( this screen will contain full information of requester.)
       5. After finishing process, the result will return workflow and end of process.
Please send simple example for step 1 and one for get data from workflow into WDA screen at step4
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks and best regards,
    DucTV.

    Hi,
I am not sure for what reasons you are developing a application but SAP has its own standard workflow process for applying leave from ESS portal..
    1. AS soon as you click on the submit button of the applicaiton then you need to trigger a workflow right in that case you make sure that you need to pass some data to the workflow container I hope you might be using either SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT or SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW to start the workflow  in both the function module you have to fill this table in Order to pass the values from ABAP    program to workflow container.
The answer to your question is it depends on the type of the work item ID you are passing to the SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER if you are passing a top work item ID  then you will have workflow container in LT_CONTAINER if you are passing any of the child or dependent work item ids of the top work item id then you have that respective task container value.
    2. You can make use of the any foreground activity or a decision step, it depends on how you want to get back the result, if you use a foreground activity step then in that case you have to populate the result back to the task container and if let say you are using a decision step then in that case you do not have to populate the result there will be standard  container element _RESULT in the decision step it will be filled.
Make sure if you are expecting some work item in UWL and as soon as you click on the work item your application should open then configure in SWFVISU transaction and maintain DTD in UWL any portal consultant can perform this steps in few seconds.
    3. When the workflow is started then the work item which you are able to get back is the one which helps to identify dependent work item ids it is the TOP or PARENT work item ID.

  • PASS DATA FROM ABAP PROGRAM TO WORKFLOW CONTAINER

Now I have created a workflow in SWDD as ZDB_WF_SW.
In this WF I have created a container as VBELN.
In the SEND MAIL I have given a header as "Worflow Triggered for &VBELN&"
    PROBLEM.
The Workflow is getting triggered. I am also getting a mail "Workflow Triggered for" in my mailbox but the &VBELN& is missing from the header.
I have set the IMPORT EXPORT flag of the WF CONTAINER "VBELN"
    Please Help.

You wouldn't use a SMA as an assistance class - but refer to one within it.
I would use Shared Memory Area classes - but I'd also build a SMA that could talk across multiple application servers.
Thomas Jung proposed this in a forum reply some time ago.
It shouldn't be too difficult to use RFC's to access the content of SMA's in multiple app servers - ensuring synchronisation across multi app servers. I've not yet had the need, so haven't attempted.
The long polling in 7.02 apparently uses this approach, so in a 7.02 system there may even be standard components/ SMAs that you could use.
I do not think global areas in FM's are available across sessions - I don't think you could use that as a data transport.

  • Creating Workflow Container Elements

    Hi,

    Hi,
Create an element in the workflow container with the ABAP Dictionary data type "CHAR_80". Bind the variable accordingly from the task container or the event container and use it.
    Hope this will help.

  • Pass Work Order attachments to Workflow container

    Hi experts,
I have a question concerning passing attachments from Work Order to Workflow(or Task) container.
There are several files attached to Work Order in TCode IW32.
The files are attached directly and are saved on SAP server. Not via URL.
I have to send email in Workflow with these files attached to email, i.e. to pass them to workflow or task container.
If I use BO SOFM I need to get the path where the files are saved on SAP server.
How can I add these files as attachments to email?
    Thank you.
    Nina

    Hi,
Add a step in the workflow to add the attachment befer sending mail step.
Two thing you need to know.
    1. Workflow workitem id
    2. attachment name and location.
Now first upload the attchment to workitem id through FM SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD.
Then make the binding between the workflow container and mail step for &_ATTACH_OBJECTS&.
after this attachment will be available in the mail.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Workflow Dialog step

    Hi,
Can anyone help me with this design?
I want to be able to send a workitem to a user, which contains links to two different transactions, with an adobe form attachment.
    Is this possible at all?
    Cheers
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    It is possible.
You can give as many attachments as you want which will take you to the required transaction.
1, Open the task (acitivity step) which is used to send workitem (TSXXXXXXXXX).
    2. Go to CONTAINER tab, and add the business object (BUSYYYY) which you need as attachment. This business object should also be present in your workflow.
    3. In the binding of task container with workflow container. Pass the business object from workflow container(BUSYYYY) to task container (BUSYYYY).
    4. If you add 2 business objects in task container and do correct binding you will see 2 attachments for a workitem.
    5. Forms are attached to attachobjects.
Try this out and let us know if you face any problem or let us know if you get any solution.
