Customizing OBIEE 11.2

Hello,
i have to customize OBIEE 11.2 to our company corporate design.
I study the two Papers:
- Customizing Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g (August 2010)
- System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (11g Release 1 (11.1.1))
But there are a lot of more questions:
First of all:
I work on a Test-Instalation on a Windows-XP-PC with Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.5.0.
I created a Static Directory in WebLogic Server (explained in "Customizing Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition")
1) The base of my Skins/Styles should be the Standard "FusionFX"-Schema.
Because in all Tutorials i read the "blafp"-Schema should be the base-Schema. Is it possible to use as base the "FusionFX"-Schema? Do i have to consider anything special?
2) For testing i changed the "oracle_logo.png" picture (explained on page 8 in "Customizing Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition") in "b_mozilla_4" and in "login".
I restarted the server! I cleared the cache and files in Internet Explorer. But the pictures aren´t replaced immediately. First no pictures are shown - then the old pictures are still shown and so on. I restared the server several times und cleared the cache and files also several times and suddenly the pictures are shown correctly. Is there another cache, i have to clear? Perhabs in the BI-Server/WebServer?
3) On the Logon-Page theres a dropdown-meu where i can change the language. I only need "english" and "german". So i copied the file "languagenames.xml" to my new created folder: "...\analyticsRes\msgdb\messages\languagenames.xml". I deleted all tags i don´t need (the file contains onle the tags for "Deutsch" and "English"). But anyway all language are still shown. What have i to adjust?
4) How i can change the "normal" messages is quite plain to me - for the logon-page i change the file "logonmessages.xml".
But how can i change the following elements/messages on the Logon-Page (and on the other pages if the same message-ID is also used):
- on the top-left: Business Intelligence
- on the bottom-left: Copyright © 1997, 2011, Oracle und/oder verbundene Unternehmen. All rights reserved. Alle Rechte vorbehalten.
- the text on the "about"-page

Hi,
I'm using a URL to extract certain report in PDF format:

Problem is the report dont look like what I want (and they don't look like the way they do in the dashboard –different color, etc).

Recommended approach for customizing OBIEE 11g

Hi all,
I know Oracles whitepaper "Customizing Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g" and using weblogic and the deployed "analyticsRes" application it already works ...somehow. But on page three there is written:
"The recommended approach is to use an HTTP server like Oracle HTTP Server, Apache or Microsoft IIS to expose the directory to Oracle BIEE."
I don't know the reason for this, but after some performance problems with the customized UI, I would like to try out the recommended approach and use Apache Webserver. I'm not very familiar with Fusion middleware and I even don't understand what's meant with exposing a directory to Oracle BIEE. Does anyone know how to follow the recommendation an can help me?

But there is still the question why and how to use Apache or something else to "expose the directory to OBIEE", like mentioned in the whitepaper as the recommended way.
Does anyone know something about this? Is it just about configuring
<CustomerResourceVirtualPath>http://theWebserver:8080/analyticsRes</CustomerResourceVirtualPath>
for example?
Or do you think it doesn't matter anyway whether to use weblogic or something else for analyticsRes in a production environment?

I have Siebel CRM Service Analytics installed there are some table level customization has been done. I would like to get the customized table and data into OBIEE database. Is there any material available on this? Is there any best practices available. Any guidance would be helpful.

Customizing OBIEE with BI Apps informatica

We are in the process of customizing bi apps finance and have 3 new dimension tables to add to the existing facts. What is the best process to tie these new dimensions to the existing GL fact via ETL method.
We have started by adding one wid column from each of the new dimensions to all of the OOTB Fact tables being used?

I have read documentation as you have mentioned the question I have is how do you enter the new custom dimension tables column ids through to staging table of fact if the wid is not established until the SIL mapping has complete. Then you would need to add from 2 x different sources OLTP and OLAP. Would this mean that we would have to create a copy of the existing fact tables mappings and copy them to a custom folder and customize for the extra columns.

Customizing OBIEE with product name

Custom OBIEE Subtotal and Total Font Size

Hello all
Im trying to customize the font size of the subtotal or total row
I was able to find the following and it got me half way there

BUT the issue I have now is that while the the total values are now increased in font size, the name of the row is not increased
So for example
Change Total 1000
The 1000 has increased in font size, but how do i get the "Change total" to increase in size?

In Pivot table Rows section on column->Sigma icon->Format Labels... or Format Values
are not helping you?
The same for Table view too, this would be simplest one.

How to change the color of Menu links in obiee

Does anyone knows how to change the colors of Menu links in obiee. With menu I mean the menu links default right top (Search, homepage, Catalogus, Dashboards, new, Open). This should be set in skin and style files, not? I searched a lot. I could not find It. It is now Oracle blue, we want to change this.

You have to customize portal banner and portal content CSS files as needed in OBIEE server.
below links will guide u but will will not tell you exactly but your req can be done by customizing portal content and portal banner CSS files. try to identify the exact code using firebug in mozilla.

OBIEE report filter and delivery ibots

Hi All,
One of my reports (with 20 cols) consists of multiple rows with repeated customer names (about 100 distinct customer names and approx total 5000 rows). We wanted to automatically filter out the report on customer names and send the filtered reports to the respective customers. So these 100 customers will receive their own 50 rows. We were wondering how we should go about doing this. We thought of maybe using a) iBots or b) GO URL with dummy dashboard. I was wondering if anyone has experience tackling this issue and what will be the high level design steps that will be required.

You must filter the data directly in the RPD.
1)
Create a session variable that contains the name (or ID or whatever) of the customer.
If the name of the customer is the login he will use to connect to OBIEE, you can use :USER.
Example 1 : suppose you have a table that contains list of customer with their name and their login.
Select name from customer where login = ':USER'
That is your initialization block that will populate your "customerVAR" session variable.
Example 2 : you don't have such a table, but customer name = customer obiee login
go directly to point 2

Filter the table with this variable.
Example 1 :
+"table.customer = valueof(NQ_SESSION.customerVAR)"+
Example 2 :
+"table.customer = ':USER'+
3)
As a result, when a customer will connect to OBIEE and display the report, the data will be filtered. He will see only data that he's authorized to see.
When you will create your iBot, this filter will be used depending on the destinary (= the customer).

Issue with Date prompt Format

i have created one date prompt with calendar input, the date format in that prompt is like '03/15/2013' but i need to show the date format like '2013-03-15' . when i try to convert the date format, the user input calendar popup is not enabling only text box is appearing to give date input.

Catalog broken

Hi all,
I'm coming to you guys because it's not the first time I get a strange error after I mad a small modification in my requests in Answer.
I change a report (e.g :add a column, change the size of the graphe ).after I save the request I cannot open any more all the reports.
The catalog completely break and I got the following error:
Dashboard Display Error
Error reading object: /shared/Statistical reports/_portal/Reports/Report1
Error Details
Error Codes: IVL7WLMD:UH6MBRBC
Sax parser returned an exception. Message: Invalid document structure, Entity publicId: , Entity systemId: , Line number: 1, Column number: 1
I cannot understand how a such small change can completely screw up the whole catalog.fortunately I have a Backup copy that I can restore.

Can you give us your environment setup? BI Server OS, Database Server OS, Database type and version, client OS, client browser, custom OBIEE or BI APPs, does it happen in DEV/TEST/PROD?
Does it only happen when you modify an existing report or does it also happen when you create a new report?
I've done quite a few OBIEE initiatives on different platforms and I have not encountered this particular issue before. The closest problem I had was that I copied a catalog from Unix to Windows and some of the .atr files and XML files got some garbage characters inserted into their names. I had to clean up about 10% of the report names and it was fine.

I have read that to alleviate some of the slowness in 1.5.0_X you can remoce the default image when an applet is loading. (The spinning animation) What file do I edit to achieve this?
