Customizing the DataSource for my media player application

Hi,
I am trying to build a j2me player which is fed from a list of files (e.g. providing few mp3 files and having playing it as one continues stream).
I understand that DataSource can be customized for such needs but I don't really know how to do that and I can't find good and simple explanation.
Please let me know what are the steps, or point me to good source.
Thank in advance

Hello,
I think that maybe there's nothing wrong with your jar. If you don't install jmf, it will not find the codecs.
"Q: What is JMF Registry?
JMF 2.1.1 maintains a registry of available plugins, package prefixes and other settings in a file called jmf.properties. This is a binary file and should only be modified using the provided JMFRegistry application. This application is a part of the JMF 2.1.1 jmf.jar file and can be run as "java JMFRegistry". It requires that you have Swing-1.1 in your CLASSPATH (or you can use JDK 1.2 or later). "
I suppose JMF searchs for the codecs in the jmf.properties. If you don't want to install JMF, try to add only the jmf.properties to your classpath, or keep it in the same directory of your jar.
Hope it helps.

  • How can I change the port for Adobe Media Player?

After instaling Adobe Media Player I lost my IIS. AMP has hijacked my port 80. Now how could I alter configuration so that AMP will use a different port.
I have many programs configured for Port 80 and I dont want to go and change all of the hardcoded ports in Javascript and CSS files.

These tools you are talking about, did you configure the tnsnames for them?
If you plan to change the default listening port, you need to modify the listener.ora file under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
After 9i, Oracle has service registration
A feature by which the PMON process automatically registers information with a listener. Because this information is registered with the listener, the listener.ora file does not need to be configured with this static information.
You can try to run one listener, see if both instances can register themselves in even they are different versions.

  • Customizing the GUI of a media player

    Hi,
You know jmf provides a way to create a media player. And it generates the visualcomponent and controlcomponent automatically. The control component contains only start button, mute button, progress bar and media information button. Now Is there a way to add other components like stop button, volume control, logo etc to the control panel of tha media player. Please help.

I think I might have answered my own question: if you leverage the Extension SDK, then no one need respond.

  • Exporting video for the web for windows Media player

What software can i use to compress an AVI file for the web. The finished product will be WMA file.

WMA is Windows Media Audio. I think what you meant is WMV (Windows Media Video). To export to that format on a Mac you'll need Flip4ac, available from www.flip4mac.com Once you've installed it, it adds the WMV and WMA export option to QT and other apps such as Sorenson Squeeze.

  • Change the source for a media player based on selection from a list.

All of this is referring to my public facing website in Office 365.
I put the following code in a content editor web part:
    <audio controls>
      <source src="http://someserver/somefile.mp3" type="audio/mpeg">
    </audio>
    This works just fine.
What I want to do, is display a table below this which is a list of mp3's. when the user clicks on one of them the audio plays in the <audio controls>.
In other words, I want to change the source of the above player when I click on a link elsewhere in the page.
    Thank you
    Joe Fager

What you'll need to do is have a javascript onclick/onchange event in the dropdown that runs a set of code that will reset the audio control with the new source. That can be done with jQuery.

  • DRM for Windows Media Player on the ipod

My ipod is worthless, if it can't play files with DRM for Windows Media Player. My library, that offers this files for download says, it would cost 50.000 dollars to provide also ipod-compatible files. Because they can't spend this money, I will need a new mp3-player!

The specs for the iPod (box, website) are pretty clear about what formats it supports. Unfortunately, protected WMA files are not supported.
If the rights you have for those files includes burning them to an audio CD, you might want to do that.

  • What do I put in jar with my media player application to distribute?

    Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to package my media player application with the JMF library jars?
I am trying to package my MediaPlayer application with the JMF lib jar files so that the application can run without having to install the Java Media Framework. I have unjarred all the jar files and put my code with the library files, then rejarred the whole thing as an executable jar file with the Manifest pointing to the main class.
The application will launch but will throw an error that the format of the test.avi is not supported. When the Java Media Framework is installed, it will run. So somehow I am not setting up the jar file correctly.
    thanks in advance

  • Encoding iMovie files for Windows Media Player

    iMovie 11 / 9.0
    Mac OS 10.6.8
I edit audio/video in iMovie (currently the only program I have) and need to output for streaming on the internet. Most of our subscribers are using older versions of Windows Media Player and as I understand won't be able to play MP4. I couldn't play the MP4 using Windows Media Player 9.0, "invalid format" error.
What software could I use to convert MP4 to a format for streaming on the internet that our subscribers play using WMP? Should I save the file out of iMovie in a different format to convert?
I have Adobe Media Encoder 4.2.0.006 but my options are h.264 or flash, got error messages when I tried to "Edit Export Settings".
    Thanks

The easiest way is to upload video to YouTube and embed videos on your site from there. This way you don't have to worry about which version of Windows, which version of Internet Exlorere, etc.
Another way, ask your users to install QuickTime For Windows. Then export normally,
Another way, get one of the paid versions of Flip4Mac, and you can convert files to wmv using QuickTime Pro or MPEG Streamclip or Compressor.

  • EXPORT LONG FILES IN 1080p for Windows Media Player

Hello, need some help in exporting and encoding some large files from Premiere CS6.
We have 4 Sequences, each totalling 45minutes in length and in 1080p (ProRes422).
We need to export and encode for Windows Media Player as quickly as possible.
Looks like each export is going to take over an hour from Premiere as "Match Sequence Settings"
-keep in mind there is NO AUDIO.
Once it's out of Premiere as an MPEG, I can transcode to any format. Ultimately WMV would be optimal,
but we need to transcode the MPEG into a MOV file before 'Episode' will accept it, just to make the WMV files.
Target files: (4) 1080p Windows Media Player compatible files
Does anyone have a better workflow workaround? Midnight hour and need help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

Thanks Jim, I can't export to WMV out of Premiere or Media Encoder. I use Episode to make my WMV files, and since Episode doesn't take MPEG in from Premiere (sigh)
I have to first make them in Quicktimes..
But yes! Anything Windows Media Player can handle... should I just go with the 5GB MPG files? No way for me to test, I'm on a Mac and these are playing on a PC
    thanks for your help

  • Perfect iframe size for widescreen media player

    hey folks,
I have been mucking about with varied success with the size of my media player. The files are 384x 216. But when I make my iframe that size. It's tiny. So, is there a perect sized iframe snippet for a widescreen player? Or should I keep playing around to find the right one?
At the moment my player is too big and looks a little pixelated. But it's working, so i don't want to muck around too much. Cause I may not be able to make it work again: )

There is no perfect iframe size. The size of an iframe depends on what you want to display within a webpage.
You decide what the width and height should be.
Or should I keep playing around to find the right one?
    Yes.

It's made in Flash. Make it larger in Flash.

  • Plugin for Windows Media Player is not working with Firefox 4 on Windows 7

I updated my Firefox to the latest version 4 yesterday, but since this time seems plugin for Windows Media Player not working anymore. When I visit some website with embedded video - like [http://www.ta3.com/sk/live this] - the window with WMP is not displayed and no video is playing. The website reports: You don´t have any plugin for playing of this video.
I reinstalled the plugin for WMP several times - with no success. This problem is on all webpages with embedded video for WMP. The installation of WMP plugin is successfully finished, but no video is playing. I checked the “plugins“ folder in the installation directory of Firefox and everything seems to be OK. Where is also the problem? Please, help me with solving of this problem...

There is no Windows Media player plugin for any browser on Android. If you are lucky download the file and see if any of media players on the system can play the file.

  • Converting QuickTime to format for Windows Media Player

I have some QT movie clips on my Mac that I need to play on a PC which does not have QuickTime installed. The computers I need to use these movies cannot have QT installed on them because my employer does not support QT, only using Windows Media Player.
So, how do I convert the QT clips I have on my Mac in to something that will play on a PC Windows Media Player ? Is it possible? I'd like to convert them, put them on a CD or DVD and then play them on the PC using Windows Media Player either from the CD/DVD.

You could use Flip4Mac with iMovie. Which you probably have. It's easiest with QuicktimePro though.
Flip4Mac PlayerPro converts WMV to mov ($49)
Flip4Mac Studio converts MOV to WMV ($99) and includes PlayerPro too.
Flip4Mac Studio Pro adds 2 pass encoding (more control over data rate) and WMV HD (HiDef) ($179)
The Flip4Mac series are all plugins that work in other programs QuickTime based programs.
You'd open your MOV file in iMovie for example and use the Share export feature Advanced and save as WMV. It'll ask you for settings which depends on what you're actually using the WMV for (broadband, dial up, play from a PCs hard drive).

You are going to need to have two versions of the video file. One for Mac Quicktime users and one for WIndows Media Player users.
WMV Studio Pro looks like it could meet your needs.
    http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm
However you will need a Windows Media Server to stream the WMV file otherwise it will act as a download only.
