Customizing the "Recent Notifications" iView

Hey folks
Our client wants to change the SAP standard "Recent Notifications" iView.  He thinks (justifiably) that the headers "subscriptions" and "subscribed items" are a bit vague, so we want to change them to more specific titles, like "subscription management" and "subscription alerts".
Two questions:
1. Is there an easy way of doing this?
2. If not, how do I customize the iView?  According to the iView properties, it's based on com.sap.km.cm.actioninbox, but I can't find this in a PAR file anywhere...
We're still on EP6SP14.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Christopher,
With such modifications you always have to choose between "bad" and "worse" - it's just the question which is which...
Of course you could create a new component with a new name based on the original one and also change the role content to refer to the modified application. On the other side, new SPs have new features and removed bugs, and normally you will like to use these advantages. But if you create a modification in a new namespace, the new PARs aren't referenced.
So, as said, you have to decide what would be more important for you - to have the possibility to upgrade with no extra admin tasks to get your old solution running or to use the new version and to redo the modifications. As in this case "redo" primarily means copy the property files to some place, I would definitely advise to go the way described.
When modifying Java code, this question is harder to answer (and there is no general answer at all). It also can make sense to try to only create some small part of a PAR and from within that, to reference the standard implementation - not always possible and at least initially more work. But to decide what makes most sense is really project and customer dependent.
Hope it helps
Detlev

  • Content Management : Recent Notifications iview

How can I get notifications to show up in the recent notifications iview for a users. What would i need to do for them to start seeing notifications. I have their service permissions set up as Subscribe.
    Anybody deal with this?
    thanx
    raj.

The notification iView can show things such as documents waiting for approval, approved/rejected documents, subscription events, etc.
If you want to have subscription events for users, have you subscribed the users to a folder? Setting the service permission only allows the users to subscribe themselves to the folder. You can subscribe them to events such as resource creation, modification, and such. You can do this in the details iView of a folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • Recent Notifications iView

    Hi All,
I was wondering if someone would be able to help with the following:
I've enabled the recent notifications iView, but I would like to configure it so that when a user clicks on the most recent notification it launches and gets displayed, instead of having to navigate to it through the KM folder structure before being able to view it. Hope this makes sense. We're working with EP 6.40, sp12.
Does something need to be changed on the XML Form, the KM Folder or am I using the wrong type of iView?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Rav

    Hi Ravinder
You can directly point to the recent notifications instead of navigating to that folder in KM.in the com.sap.km.iviews folder you can see the Recent notifications. In the properties of the iview you can set the path to the folder to be notified about.

  • Recent Notifications iView in Collaboration rooms

    Hi!
I'm trying to influence the scope of Recent Notifications iView within a Collaboration Room so that it will show only those new/changed documents that are in the current room.
In Room Template Administration I've tried this with different parameters, but the best result I can get is this:
e.g. 'Subscriptions (2/2)' is shown, but when I click open this link it tells me that there are no items in my inbox. Also, notifications from outside the room are included in the count.
If I leave all mapping-parameters to value 'No mapping', this works better, but then again the iView doesn't show only room specific notifications...
    Regards,
    Sam

    Hi,
Only subscribed items within the room, i.e. from room folder /room_extensions/cm_stores/documents/**

  • Configuring Recent Notification iView

    Hi!
I've got some problem while trying to configure Recent Notifications iView. I've set property which defines which screen opens when a resource name is clicked with value 'ContentScreen', but when I click resource name in feedback section the opening screen is 'DetailsScreen'. Resources in other sections e.g. Subscription opens in 'ContentScreen'. Can anyone help me to solve this problem? I want to see 'ContentScreen' when I click resource name in feedback section.

    Hi,
you have to modify the link which navigates to the navigation iView. To do so, you have to go to the KM configuration, to the global service > Urlgenerator Service. There you find a list of URL's. One is labeled with 'Navigation Servlet'. Here you can enter a different link. You can for example enter the link to the Admin Explorer, you can make a preview in the portal content directory to the Admin Explorer iView an copy the url from the browser and paste it into the URL Generator Configuration (the part beginning with irj).
This changes the links to folders in the recent notification, but I can not tell you, where else in the portal this link is used. Please be careful with this change.

  • Recent Notification iview and layout set.

    Hi gurus,
When I open Recent Notification iview, appear different kind of links: feedback, subscriptions, subscribed items so on. When I press subscription link, is opened a new windows where I can see all my subscription.
    For each subscription is shown:
    Event Subscribed Item Subscription Owner
Item column is a link that allow me to open a new windows to see details of subscripted object.
My problem is that by default is using Consumer Explorer layout set.
Does anybody know how I can change this layout set ?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Subscriptions in Recent Notification iView

    Hi,
I have subscribed a document to a user. Then Recent Notification iView shows the count for the subscribed document like 1/5. Now I click on Subscription link in Recent Notification iView, ideally it should show the latest subscribed doc.
After clicking on Subscription link, it opens a new window and displays the message <b>There are no items in your inbox</b>
Can some one help me to resolve it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Manish

    Hi Manish,
    can you precise this. Like
KM SP2 Patch 29 or something the like.
It looks like a known problem to old SP2 Versions, but we need your excat version to eliminate our doubts.
    Thanks

  • Viewing Recent Notification iview

If i make a change to a doc, others subscribe to it will receive a KM notification. I do not see this notification iview..
How do i assign this iview to where portal favourites reside?

    RD,
I can not understand your question, you will be notify in Recent Notification Iview. In this iview you can personalize refresh time.
In Content Provides by SAP\End User Content\Standard Portal User\com.sap.km.iviews you can find this iview.
Don't forget, when you suscribe to a document o folder you have to define an interval time within this time you will receive these notifications.
    Patricio.

    Hope you can help me.

    Hi Misel,
Yes you can customize 'My Appointment' iView. Please follow the following steps. I think this will help you
    1.  Logon to portal as Administrator which has 'Content Administrator' role
    2.  Navigate to Content Administrator -> Portal Content
    3. Open the tree 'Portal Content'
    4. Open the tree 'Content Provided by SAP'
    5. Open the tree 'Collaboration'
    6. Open the tree 'Demo Role'
    7. Open the tree 'iView'
    8. Open iView 'My Appointments'
Now you can customize the iView.
Even you can customize all the iView under 'Collaboration Demo' from here.
If you have any questions or want more clerification please feel free to ask.

    Hi,
Do you want to modify the preview (displayed under the list of items) or the application which is launched when you click on the work item? If it is the preview, you'll have to customize the task in the backend or modify the UWL xml configuration file. If it is the application you'll have to modify a standard WD Java iView.

  • Customizing the document  loading  iview

    Dear all
we have a fully functional km system. In general whenever we want to load a new document we get a view where we enter name ,disc,..and for show further options we get extra options ..but what we want is to customize it in such a way that it has to show some more options ....(the entire documents in the km has to divided in to categories n subcategories irrespective of its foldar location...so these categories and sub categories have to reflect as options).we want this to refine our search option . it would be convinient if we have the category field and subcategories as the drop down .
can anyone explain me how this can be acheived .

    Hi,
Well, i think making use of taxonomies will help you classifying the documents in various catagories, have a look on these links:

  • How can I get recent notifications to show up in UWL notification tab?

    Hello,
Is it possible to get items that appear in the recent notification iView to show up under the Universal Worklist Notification tab.
For example, when I subscribe for documents in the KM document repository the subscriptions and any changes appear in the recent notification tab. How can I get them to show up in the UWL notification inbox? I've changed the subscription service channnel to add the variable Null on top of e-mail and it does not work.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Rabih

Location services can run the battery down, so i'd like to know as well, with location disabled.
I have location on for Find My iPhone only, and i'd prefer to keep it that way.
I don't know why they had to mess with the weather in notification center, it was totally great the way it was.
    I also have 4s with iOS7.

  • EP50 SP6 : Recent notifications - Items to review

    Hi there,
one of our customers requested an installation of EP50 SP6 recently. Their old EP50 SP5 KM database had to be attached, which went fine. The cm configuration files have been merged into the new SP6 system.
One problem still occurs : in the 'Recent Notifications' iView -> Items to Review (0/2) is displayed. When clicking the 'Items to Review' link, a new window pops- up showing following error :
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    I looked at the wcmcontrol.jar file, containting the above classes : SP6 is 4717kb, SP5 is 2672kb.
Could it be that the EP50 SP5 notifcations can not be rendered in EP50 SP6? How to delete the notifications? When going to the two particular files sent for approval, and selecting 'stop approval', the iView still show (0/2). Same when submitting a new document for approval : (0/2) - in other words, changes are not reflected.
    Any clue?
    Many thanks,
    Kevin
