Cx_document_bcs exception in add_attachment method of class cl_document_bcs

hi All,
I am getting an exception  while i am trying to create a  pdf attachment.  I m not getting any error text but error type is showing as  "XERR_BCS".  The code in which the exception is coming is as below.
TRY.
    lo_document->add_attachment(
    EXPORTING
    i_attachment_type = 'PDF'
    i_attachment_subject = 'Vendor Payment Form'
I_ATTACHMENT_SIZE =
I_ATTACHMENT_LANGUAGE = SPACE
I_ATT_CONTENT_TEXT =
I_ATTACHMENT_HEADER =
    i_att_content_hex = lt_att_content_hex ).
  CATCH cx_document_bcs INTO lx_document_bcs.
ENDTRY.
Please provide you inputs on how to resolve this issue. Is there any specific settings that needs to be done.

Hi,
I'd code that as follows:
data: lx_bcs type ref to cl_bcx .
try .
catch cx_bcs into lx_bcs.
  cl_message_helper=>set_msg_vars_for_if_msg( lx_bcs ) .
  MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE 'E' NUMBER sy-msgno
        WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
endtry .
However, the text would reveal more info only if the IDs are OTHERS or OS_ERROR, I believe... (at least on 702)
cheers,
Janis

  • Exceptions thrown by methods in classes

    Hi all,
    Just curios why the PrintWriter method close() is not declared as throwing IOException, although in JDK 5.0, PrintWriter implements Closable interface. And IOException is a checked exception.
    Thank you

    Right.
    No I remebered that the "implements" relationship allows for the set of checked exceptions to be narrowed in the throws clause. This is because when a client is using the interface it MUST catch all the checked exceptions, even if the implementation does not actually throw all of them.
    This is true also when implementing abstract classes.
    Thank you

  • JVM crash when adding method to class

    Hello,
    I am getting some kind of problem with the virtual machine. The JVM crashes when making a class (with new). It happened when I was adding some functionality to the class, I worked my way backwards and discovered it crashes when I add any new methods, if I comment them out again everything works, adding a method by any name causes to crash.
    I went in debug to find out where it was happening, and it happens on this line:
    public PerspectiveActionToolBarHeader createPerspectiveActionToolBarHeader() {
         PerspectiveActionToolBarHeader ret = null;
         ret = new PerspectiveActionToolBarHeader(this); // << here
         return ret;
    }The PerspectiveActionToolBarHeader is the class where adding methods causes it to fail. For example, it has the method
    public Container getContainer() {
         return this;
    }and works, but if I add:
    public void anything(){} it causes a crash on the new PerspectiveActionToolBarHeader(this);
    When stepped into with the debugger it goes to the (source not found) ClassNotFoundException and eventually before the crash the (stack?) looks like this:
    Launcher$AppClassLoader(ClassLoader).loadClass(String) line: not available
    MaldiSoftwareOptionsUIEnsemble(PerspectiveUIEnsemble).createPerspectiveActionToolBarHeader() line: 72
    and the debugger describes the class just before the crash:
    Launcher$AppClassLoader (id=44)
    arg0     "saiman.uiobjnew.PerspectiveToolBarButton" (id=51) << has just changed
    and the log file (not sure how much to copy here!):

    I think I may have stumbled across the answer, It seems that the abstract class PerspectiveToolBar implements
    the interface with the method public Container getContainer() but does not declare it, this should be fine because the method is abstract but it crashes. When I add the method public abstract Container getContainer(); to the abstract sub-class there is no error. I'm going to try make a small compilable example to see if I can reproduce it.
    edit its actually only one of the two interface methods, and not getContainer(), but another one. If anyone is interested here is the interface:
    public interface IMassSpectrometerPassableControlContainer
         Container getContainer();
         void reloadWidgetsOnVisible(boolean visible);
    }and it works only if there is "public abstract void reloadWidgetsOnVisible(boolean visible);" in the abstract class PerspectiveToolBar implementing IMassSpectrometerPassableControlContainer.
    I tried to reproduce it, but I can't get another class to repeat the behaviour, so I don't think I can post a bug report on it. Here is my attempt anyway:
    import javax.swing.JToolBar;
    * Class     Test.java
    * Date:     7 Jun 2011
    * @author     tofuser
    public class Test extends Subclass
         public static void main(String args[])
              System.out.println("in main method");
              Test t = new Test();
              t.interfaceMethod();
         @Override
         public void interfaceMethod()
              System.out.println("interface method");
    abstract class Subclass extends JToolBar implements Interface
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
         //this line is where it breaks in my code, including it works
         //public abstract void interfaceMethod();
    interface Interface
         public abstract void interfaceMethod();
    }Edited by: hanvyj on 07-Jun-2011 03:56

  • How to log exception from a struts action class

    Hi guys,
    I am recoding my application to use the strut framework. There's one small thing i wonder is that how i can log an exception arrise in an action class. In my original servlet, wherever an exception arise, i use:

    lnthai2002Action class is just a POJO and works a handler of your request. ActionServlet invoke your Action class based on the action you call in your URL. When you are usign the Struts why do you need your Original Servel, use the ActionServlet and if required you can extend it and create your own servlet

  • Detecting when exception was thrown using custom class loader

    Hello all,
    I would like to implement the solution described here - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/75218/how-can-i-detect-when-an-exceptions-been-thrown-globally-in-java - that uses custom class loader in order to detect when an Exeption thrown somewhere in the JVM hosting my app, please note that exceptions might be thrown from 3rd party jars the app is using. So, thanks to help I got from another post, I've managed to code the custom class loader. My question is how can the class loader wrap the original exception, as the methods in ClassLoader deals with classes, not instances. So where should I set the original exception?
    Thanks!

    This is what I did so far. For the exception wrapper I made a simple class extens Exception that recieve Exception in its ctor and store it. I also subclassed ClassLoader and override its loadClass(). I've registered it as the system classloader. My thinking was to check in that point that if the requested class is instance of Exception and if yes, returning my wrapper class wrapping this exception. But, since loadClass() return class, how can I set in the wrapper the original exception?
    In addition, let's say 2 different places in the code throws NPE, to my understanding the classloader will load NPE only once, so how throwing the NPE in the second time can be detected?you are missing a key point. you should creating a custom implementation of the NPE class which hooks into your detection code in its constructor. from that point forward, anytime any NPE (which is your custom class) is constructed, you can detect it.

    Did you install the VS update in your VS IDE? I met this issue before which was related to the VS update:

    Creation of Material using BDC Session method & global class by using oops.
    can anyone plz help me out

    Hi,
    it looks like it's not possible to call this BAPI wihtout material number. Here is a quote from BAPI documentation.
    When creating material master data, you must transfer the material
    number, the material type, and the industry sector to the method. You
    must also enter a material description and its language.
    Cheers

  • How to throw exception in run() method of Runnable?

    Hi, everyone:
    I want to know how to throw exception in run() method of interface Runnable. Since there is no throwable exception declared in run() method of interface Runnable in Java API specification.
    Thanks in advance,
    George

    Thanks, jfbriere.
    I must add though that if your run() methodis
    executed after a call to Thread.start(), then
    it is not a good choice to throw anyRuntimeException
    from the run() method.
    The reason is that the thrown exception won't be
    handled appropriately by a try-catch block.Why do you say that "the thrown exception won't be
    handled appropriately by a try-catch block"? Can you
    explain it in more detail?
    regards,
    George
    Because the other thread runs concurrently with and independently of the parent thread, there's no way you can write a try/catch that will handle the new thread's exception: try {
        myThread.start();
    catch (TheExceptionYouWantToThrowFromRun exc) {
        handle it
    do the next thing This won't work because the parent thread just continues on after myThread.start(). Start() doesn't throw the exception--run() does. And our parent thread here has lost touch with the child thread--it just moves on to "do the next thing."
    Now, you can do some exception handling with ThreadGroup and uncaughtException(), but make sure you understand why the above won't work, in case that was what you were planning to do.

  • Internal table in method of class (BADI)

    Hello people !!
    I need to use an internal table into method of class. I don´t know very well how to use it. I know that it hasn´t a header; but I don´t know how to defined and use it.
    I need to use in a method of badi.-
    I will be grateful by the help that your could offer to me.-
    Thank you so much,
    Esther.-

    Thank you for your answer.
    But, I had defined as de fist item, but I had defined with a structure of dictinary.
    Now, in my code, I need to deposit information to the above mentioned table. Then, when I try to accede to the fields of the estructure, when I compile it gives me the following mistake:
    "ACC_DATA" is a table without a header line and therefore has no
    component called "CUENTA".
    I attach departs from the code:
    types: es_accdata type standard table of Z_ES_ACCDATA.
    data: acc_data  type es_accdata.
          loop at it_mseg into r_mseg.
          si es Entrada de Mercancía
            if r_mseg-bwart = '101'.
              at first.
                acc_data-cuenta = r_mseg-sakto.
                if not r_mseg-kostl is initial.
                  acc_data-centro_coste = r_mseg-kostl.
                else.
                  acc_data-orden_inversion = r_mseg-aufnr.
                endif.
              endat.
              monto = monto + r_mseg-dmbtr.
            endif.
          endloop.
    Thank you againg, for a new answer !!!!
    bye, Esther.-

  • Error in Raising exceptions in a method and handling the same in the WF

    Hi All
    I tried to implement Raising exceptions in a method and handling the same in the workflow
    in the same way given in SAPtechnical site .
    1.by adding a error msg in exception parameter .
    2. if the select query fails, to fetch the agent then :exit_return 9001 'ztable name' space space space.
    3.in the Background activity in which this method is called there automatically one outcome appears ,and I hav acitvated that outcome and in that done what need to be done for that error handling - just send a mail to concern person .
    4. in the normal outcome of the activity , the step to be executed are there .
    but its not working , if exception come then the WF stuck there only . it do not follow the exception outcome .
    Kindly help me , How can I do the exception handly in WF.
    thanks & Regards
    Kakoli

    > That is usually the case - you catch an error in the underlying program and pass that back so the workflow can go into error.
    > You're doing it correctly.
    I don't think that's quite right.
    If you define an error/exception in a method, it is automatically mapped to an outcome of the step/task.
    If you activate that outcome, then you can handle the exception in a branch of the workflow.
    For example: 'Remote connection is down, please contact Basis'
    The step should only go into error if an outcome occurs that you have NOT activated.
    So the original question is valid. Please give some more information on what the error message is..

  • The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_RANGE_OUT_OF_BOUNDS'

    Bom dia pessoal.
    The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_RANGE_OUT_OF_BOUNDS', was no
    caught in procedure "CHECK_NFENUM_NUMERIC" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    In the executed program "SAPLJ1BB2", the system attempted to access the field "J_1BDYDOC-NFENUM" using the length 0.
    However, a partial field access with the length specification 0 is not allowed.

  • Exception Handling Within Methods

    I'm currently looking over exception handling within Java and have what whats probably a very simple question to answer!
    If within a method I have a try and catch block to handle all exceptions that the specific method may throw, do I then also need to specify the exceptions that the method will throw within its signature? (As I have already handled them).

    After a bit more reading I think i've found my answer.
    You only declare a method throws an exception if you wish to deal with it further up the method call stack. This raises another question though. If I did handle the exceptions that my method could throw within the method itself as well as declaring the method to throw the exceptions within its signature. What would happen?

  • Exception Handling Standards -The exception Exception should never been thrown. Always Subclass Exception and throw the subclassed Classes.

    In the current project my exception handling implementation is as follows :
    Exception Handling Layer wise :
    DL layer :
    catch (Exception ex)
    bool rethrow = ExceptionPolicy.HandleException(ex, "Ui Policy");
    if (rethrow)
    throw;
    BL Layer
    catch (Exception ex)
    bool rethrow = ExceptionPolicy.HandleException(ex, "Ui Policy");
    if (rethrow)
    throw;
    UI Layer
    catch (Exception ex)
    bool rethrow = ExceptionPolicy.HandleException(ex, "Ui Policy");
    if (rethrow)
    Response.Redirect("ErrorPage.aspx", false);
    We have a tool to check the standards. And tool output is as follows :
    The exception Exception should never been thrown. Always Subclass Exception and throw the subclassed Classes.
    I need suggestions on how to implement the same according to standards.

    Your tool is wrong if it says to never throw Exception.  This was a common recommendation back in the .NET v1 days but has long since been thrown out.  It is perfectly fine to use Exception when you have a general exception that provides no information
    that an application can use to make an informed opinion.
    The general rules of exception throwing is to throw the most specific exception that makes sense. If there is no specific exception that applies and it would be useful for the caller to handle the exception differently than other exceptions then creating
    a custom exception type is warranted.  Otherwise throwing Exception is reasonable. As an example you might have an application that pulls back product data given an ID. There is no built in exception that says the ID is invalid. However an invalid ID
    is something that an application may want to handle differently than, say, an exception about the product being discontinued.  Therefore it might make sense to create an ItemNotFoundException exception that the application can react to.
    Conversely there is no benefit in having different exception types for disk full and disk quota met. The application will respond the same in either case.
