D'Oh! I kicked myself out of the APEX Administration. Help!

Hi,
i did a terrible mistake.
While i was clicking around in the APEX Internal Workspace i changed the Value of "Disable Administrator Login" (I don't know if this is the correct description in english) from NO to YES.
Now i can't change that value back because i can't login into the admin page and the workspace login doesn't work either. I get a white screen when i try to login to server/pls/htmldb or server/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin.
The applications are still working.
How can i reverse that stupid action?
Please help!

Mac Mini kicking me out of the window I'm working in

I had the same problem more than a year ago, and someone here helped me fix it. I tried the same solution (running Yasu and making sure the prebinding option is selected), but this time it didn't work. I should mention that the problem started again immediately after I ran several MacOS updates (new version of iTunes, Safari, etc.) This is what's happening:
The computer continually wants to go to the Finder. It is not a mouse issue, because the computer changes back and forth between windows when I'm not even touching it.
For example, while I was typing this, it preceded this window by the Finder, so I had to click back onto this window in order to keep typing. (It doesn't close the window I'm in, just brings the other to the forefront).
Sometimes it kicks me out of programs also, although the program doesn't crash. The window just closes and I have to reopen it. This is the most problematic when I'm trying to burn a CD, because it kicks me out of the burning window, and I'm unable to find it again and complete the process.
I don't understand why Yasu worked last time but didn't this time. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The first thing that springs to mind from your description is prebinding. Prebinding is the linking between MacOS and applications to their library files, and while it's rare, it can get disrupted and leave the system behaving in this way.
The quickest and most painless way to update it (thus fixing the problem if it is caused by this) is to download a copy of YASU from http://jimmitchell.org/projects/yasu/ and set it to the prebinding task. Actually you can safely set it to all the tasks since from time to time trimming log files and clearing system caches is no bad thing. Once complete, the system should reboot (slowly).
If the problem persists after that, it would be helpful to know if you have installed anything on the system prior to this behavior starting, including any MacOS updates or utilities, and whether you have noted any other inconsistent behavior on your system recently.

Malware on New Helix (out of the box) / Need Help Accessing Recovery Partition

I'm working on a problem for my folks. My dad got my mom a brand spanking new Helix (not exactly a cheap laptop).
It came with two pieces of malware:
1. Windows 8
2. AstroMenda
Since I can't do anything about #1 and #2 is a serious PITA and the machine is new out of the box (really), I thought I'd just restore the machine from the recovery partition.
However, I cannot seem to get the machine to boot to recovery mode.
Enter doesn't seem to do anything (that is the only keystroke suggested by the splash screen).
F12 gets me a boot menu but I don't see any recovery options. Selecting the Windows Boot Manager or the Hard Drive itself results in Windows 8 booting.
F1 gets me the BIOS. Though I imagine I might be able to set the recovery partition (which #?) to the #1 boot option, I absolutely should not have to do that.
Shift doesn't do anything (suggested elsewhere on these forums).
F2 doesn't do anything.
F11 doesn't do anything.
Esc doesn't do anything.
My older lenovo T61p had the ThinkVantage. I always thought that was pretty goofy but now I'm wishing I had a ThinkVantage.
BTW, Lenovo Support was USELESS. They told me to return the machine and transferred me to returns but since my folks were on vacation when it arrived, we are outside the 30 day window, returns wouldn't do an exchange. They opened a case with Customer Advocacy (never heard of that) but told me I wouldn't hear anything for 3-5 business days and there is no number, website, or email you can call to check your "Customer Advocacy" claim. That sounds a lot like GFY.

ITunes kicks me out all the time

When using iTunes viewing films I keep getting kicked out and takes me back to home page. All other websites seem to be ok. I am using an iPad air. Does anyone have any advice please?

FYI- I have deauthorized and reauthorized, signed out of my iTunes account, deleted pLists, etc before posting here. None of which affected the problem.

Wife kicking me out to the shed. How to extend range?

She is not putting up with me any more, and I have to go and work down at the bottom of someone elses garden, in a cold damp shed.
My question is how do I extend the range of the base station I have in the house. The shed is probably 125m away from my connection. I've looked into Dr Botts ExtendAir but it seems to work with older base stations with an antenna port, and not 802.11n. Getting a dedicated line down there is a no-no. Telecom provider wanted £3000.00 to connect it! ($6000.00) Though I do have a (near)line of sight to the shed from upstairs in the house, which I figured would help in a wireless way.
Is it in any way possible? (Please feel free to mention non Apple products I won't mind). Or does my wife have to put up with me a bit longer

Were you a "bad" boy to get kicked out? It appears that due to a lack of an external antenna port on the new N that you will have some problems getting a connection to an external antenna. If you were good at these sorts of things, you might consider modding the N to add a port to get the connection. But remember that the N models utilize a phased array antenna system.
The other option would be to run a ethernet line to the shed using active or passive signal boosters along the way.
Without an external antenna connection, and no after market solutions yet, your immediate options are pretty limited.

Are you using Microsoft word? Microsoft thinks the users are idiots. They put up a lot of pointless messages that annoy & worry users. I have seen this message from Microsoft word. It's annoying.

When you copy information via edit > copy, command + c, edit > cut, or command +x, you place the information on the clipboard. When you paste information, edit > paste or command + v, you copy information from the clipboard to your data file.
If you edit > cut or command + x and you do not paste the information and you quite Word, you could be loosing information. Microsoft is very worried about this. When you quite Word, Microsoft checks if there is information on the clipboard & if so, Microsoft puts out this message.
You should be saving your work more than once a day. I'd save every 5 minutes. command + s does a save.

[Solved] I've been really clever (Locked myself out of the system)

Hi, I've done something extremely clever: I wanted to try out suspend to disk on my MacBook. I generated an new initramfs with an uresume hook. The whole resuming thing didn't work though.
Upon rebooting I get a prompt telling me that the system can't resume (fair enough) and I can skip it by pressing enter. However, my MacBook's keyboard doesn't work at boot-time (well, at least not at this prompt).
How do I get past this error message? Can I restore an initramfs with something like Knoppix?

If you use grub, use the fallback initramfs. kernel26-fallback.img
I'm guessing here, but you could try adding the usbinput hook to make the keyboard work earlier.

Adding another account would not affect one that you already had. Either the password is wrong, or the server is coincidentally rejecting your credentials for some reason, or you did something different.

this started only recently. after a while (couple of hours, a day), suddenly Safari prompts me to re-log in. when i try, i get "an internal server error occurred". when i quit Safari and restart it, i can log in okay - until the next time.

HI,
First, go to Safari/Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure; User names and passwords is selected.
Now, open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left.
Right or control click: "Safari Forms Autofill" and both your "Apple ID" keychains. Then click Delete. Quit Keychain Access
Relaunch Safari. Click Login. Type in your username and password. When prompted, click: Yes.
You may also need to empty the Safari cache. From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Reset Safari.

Out of the Box Thanker Help!

I have leased a cable channel for airing local news and events. We currently have a multi disc DVD player connected to the cable company modulator for our channel. We Final Cut edit our programing and compile a 2 hour DVD of our programing, either in i Movie or DVD Pro. The options in both allow for AUTO PLAY and LOOP. This allows us to continuious loop play the two (2) hours worth of vide. We had thought tha a multi-disk DVD player would allow us to put multipule programing DVD's into the tray and then have the player auto step to the next disc and then the next and so on. We though this would work, however, DVD's in the multi disk player will not step to the next disc when complete, intead even with aut Play it goes back to the DVD menu and will not auto to next disc.
Since AUTO PLAY and LOOP are options in iDVD and DVD Pro, we were wondering if a code could be written that would add a tag at the end of disc play that would simulate the end of file and not go back to DVD Menu, simular to a CD. This would allow the player to read disc play complete and like a CD auto go to the next disc in the tray.
We have talked to Sony and Panasonic and they don't have a device that will auto play multipule DVD's. If a coded menu item could be provided for iMovie and DVD Pro, you would be able to contuosly play all DVD content and would be limited only by the number of slots available for loading content.

Thanks all for the input. Being a non-techy, I had tunel vision, based on my limited knowledge. The idea of Studio X and Hal's seems to provide a solution. I am going to show my ignorance once again!
The cable headin, is a small room with racks of broadcasting equipment, we have been provided a modulater in one of the racks that transmits our programing over chanel 20. The modulator only has RCA inputs for video and audio. The rack space provide for our input device is the size of a slim line DVD player. We have several 250GB external hard drives, would this be what we would put our programing on, or would we need an actual server or another dedicated computer, like a powerbook?
I am trying to understand the actual implementation. I am assuming I would need to have software on the (HDrive, computer, server) that continuosly plays the multipule movie files and sends out a video and audio signals that can be input into the modulator? This would mean some kind of converter/adapter that converts the firewire output of the (HDrive, computer, server) to RCA audio and video for input to the modulator? The answer maybe to hire someone who knows what they are doing and have them set up the hardware and programing that plays looped movies stored on the unit and provides the required output.

HT5622 I sent my Mac Pro Air for repairs and for some reason my user and group password was changed to Apple and I can't figure out what the password is -.help please.

Sent my Mac Pro Air for repairs and when it came back I had to download many programs. Dowloaded the OS X Mavericks but now it tells me I need an application to install it in my computer. Which application do I need? Checked the App store but am new at this and have no clue.

Did they also restore your original user account? Log out of Apple and see if yours is there to log in to.
You'll need to post the actual error message, not what you think it said. I don't think I've ever seen an error that said I needed an application to install anything on my Mac.
