Daemon not running

I am trying to run OEM and it is failing to start do to the daemon not running. On the http://localhost:5500/em login page it says the database might be shutdown and has a startup and recovery button. I clicked on startup, even though I know the database is up. I put in the login credentials and it fails with an IO error.
Can anyone help me?

Hi
I can tell you about the Windows Environment. These steps may solve your problem.
Check and perform the following.
1. DBSNMP and SYSMAN accounts are NOT LOCKED.
2. OS user responsible for starting services is a member of ORA_DBA group.
3. OS user is a member of LOGON AS BATCH JOB in Local Security Policy.
4. In Host Credentials provide the OS user name in the following way
DOMAIN_NAME\username.
5. Verify Listener is running and appropriate entries exists in TNSNAMES.ora file.
Hope it helps.

  • FAIL: process hdbdaemon HDB Daemon not running - HANA

    Hello guys,
    I'm not being able to start a SAP HANA instance. Here's the output of the HDB start command:
    I've already check the free space on the files systems as you can see here:
    I can't figure out what is happening. Any suggestions?
    Regards.

    The startup error is somewhat misleading as Serge commented above:-
      > FAIL: process hdbdaemon HDB Daemon not running
    In a recent HEC HANA DB startup error scenario, the clue was this message in the startup.log file in the trace directory:-
    > Unable to change to Directory /usr/sap/<SID>/HDB<nn>/vh<cid><sid>db01/trace
    It turned out that the profile was edited with the incorrect instance number <nn>.  After correcting this error, HANA DB started up successfully.

  • Process hdbdaemon HDB Daemon not running

    Hi.
    I was working on Hana Studio, i wanted to do a recovery, so Hana Studio stopped the instance, so i click on cancel the recovery and when i went to start again the instance it showed me this Error:
    So i went to Linux Server (hanab1) to start manually HDB, and again showed me the same error:
    So what can i do to fix this without doing a reinstallation of HANA???...I hope you can help so i can continue working on my client schemas.

    Hi Miller,
    See if the below note is usefull.
    A procedure is implemented in the SAP HANA database that, after a failed recovery, prevents the database that is inconsistent as a result from starting. During this, the system writes the state transitions to the topology tree of a name server during a recovery, and deletes these if the recovery is successful. If the recovery is not completed successfully, relevant entries remain in the topology tree as a result. This causes the database start to terminate.
    However, due to an error in the implementation of revision 23, entries of this type were permanently written to the topology tree for failed database backups. Therefore, these entries also prevent a subsequent restart or upgrade of the SAP HANA database.

  • EM Daemon is not running.

    Today when I started my laptop (XP SP2 with Oracle 10gR2, used as stand alone just for practice) I tried as usual to start the listener and called the EM DB console. I do this operation everyday and today I noticed from the console that everything was down, listener and connection to instance. This never happened so I started thinking of what I might have changed last time and the only operation I did was creating 2 directory objects 1 for data dumps and one for the relative logs from the command output. I used expdp from command line to export a table and this worked fine. Nothing else.
    Today not only the console is not working but sqlplus gives as output:
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
    ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
    What I found is that when running
    emctl status dbconsole
    the output says : EM Daemon is not running.
    I checked the windows services and all needed processes seemed to be running.
    Despite I tried to restart the DBconsole process nothing changed.
    Then restarted the OracleService<SID> process and checked again with
    emctl status dbconsole.
    Again it goes "EM Daemon is not running". But if I try to restart it tells me that the agent is already running.
    I thought nothing had been fixed, instead surprisingly everything was now working fine, console and sqlplus.
    Any idea of what might have happened? And ... is it regular that I still see the message EM Daemon is not running even if everything seems to be up and running ?
    I then restarted my laptop and had exactly same experience - nothing was up despite the OracleService<SID> process was started in the services panel as well as the listener and the dbconsole agent.
    Again, the situation was fixed by restarting the OracleService<SID> process although the output of emctl status dbconsole shows "EM Daemon is not running ".
    This has happened overnight, and as said the only operations I did were those 2 basic creations of directories objects and dump of a user table. Until yesterday I never needed to manually restart the OracleService<SID> process.
    Please let me know if you would like to see any logs or have the precise commands I ran.
    Thanks,
    Enrico

    Thanks Madrid - it is weird because my laptop is isolated on may desk, and does not connect to any network since one month back. I have always been working with the loopback adapter that I configured months back following the indication on the Oracle site. So I configured it with 192.168.5.5 and always called the em console via my hostname and port, and the hostname is locally mapped to the above IP in the hosts file.
    Coming to your advise, I noticed that EM configured with my localhost as the host name. In example, in the homepage the listener looks like LISTENER_"pasticci-116b1b" being "pasticci-116b1b" my hostname.
    But above all - what I can't understand is what happened between yesterday and today to have triggered this kind of problems, since before shutting down yesterday I only did those apparently harmless operations...

  • How do i find out if the server admin daemon is running

    Hi All,
    I've got an OS X server that for some reason ( probably due to me pratting around) has decided not to have a working server admin prog. I can fire up the client program and point it at any of the IP addresses that the server is looking at and then you get an error message basically saying that the server admin daemon is not contactable.
    So ...
    1). How can i find out if the back end daemon is running
    2). what port(s) does it listen on
    3). How can I turn on some logging to see what's happening when I run serve admin
    4). Any other tips as to how to find out why its not working
    Rgds
    Alex

    You should post this in one of the forums in the Mac OS X Server v10.5 Leopard category. You'll get better response there.

  • Tomcat server is not running automatically

    Hi BO experts,
    I have installed SAP Business Objects XI 3.1 in my system and noticed that Tomcat server is not running in Central Configuration Manager where the status is "Stopped". If I start manually also it's not starting (In properties, the startup type is - Automatic).
    So I went this path "E:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\bin" and double clicked "startup.bat" then I am able to login into Infoview. Could please someone explain that is there any possible way to run Tomcat automatally so that i do not need to start up manually every time?
    Thanks in advance!!

    I'm assuming that whoever installed the Apex Listener installed it under the Apache Tomcat application server. This isn't officially supported by Oracle, but it does work. You start Tomcat by executing "startup.bat" in its bin directory on Windows or "startup.sh" on Linux or other Unix-like OSes. In Windows, it will keep running as long as the command window is open (but you can minimize it) or I believe there is a way to set it up as a service - I'm not a Windows guru. In *nix, you can add an ampersand to the command to keep it running in background, or set it up to run as a daemon.
    Altogether, you probably need someone to learn more about how to run Tomcat if the person who set it up for you is no longer available. There is plenty of information on-line - just use Google or Bing.

  • Java Applets do not run when UAC is enabled on Windows 7

    HI,
    I'm deploying Java 6.0_26-b03+ on Windows 7 and experiencing following problem:
    Java applets do not run as standard domain users in Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 when UAC is enabled (i.E. http://www.java.com/de/download/installed.jsp). When logged on as Administrator or start IE9 as Administrator java applets do run.
    If I diable UAC an log on as normal user then applets do run. Applets then still run if UAC is re-enabled again. It seems that UAC needs to be disabled for the Java Plug-In to register something in user context (assumption). If this registration happended Java applets do run also for standard Windows 7 users if UAC is enabled.
    Since we're planning a corporate Windows 7 rollout (>800PCs) we cannot do this manually on every computer. Ther must be any solution for this problem.
    Does anybody have the same problem and has already found a solution?
    This is the content of the error log file generated when a standard domain user tries to run http://www.java.com/de/download/installed.jsp

    Since we're planning a corporate Windows 7 rollout (>800PCs) we cannot do this manually on every computer. Ther must be any solution for this problem.If you're doing a corporate rollout of that size then surely you're just making an image of the desired configuration and just duplicating it onto the 800 PCs? In which case you would just configure IE appropriately as part of the image.
    Or alternatively you are manually configuring each of the 800 PCs, in which case this would be just one more thing in the checklist.

  • Amavisd not running, mails not delivered when spam filter is enabled

    Hey everyone,
    So I've got a slight problem here with a 10.4.11 server. Our spam filter was set to be too tolerant of spam, allowing a threshold 22.0 before bouncing it, so through the command line I edited /etc/amavisd.conf to $sa_kill_level_deflt = 6.0; tag2 is set to 3.0. Then I bounced amavisd via:
    sudo /bin/launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
    sudo /bin/launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
    Well that caused all sorts of whacky issues with the queue. The server couldn't connect to itself and wouldn't deliver any mail, only queue it up. So I went back in to amavisd.conf and changed the parameters back to default, then bounced amavisd again. To no avail. Then I restored from a backup file I had created and bounced amavisd again to no avail.
    Finally I removed the junkmail and virus filters via SA, saved, then reenabled them to no avail. Then I just disabled them and mail is flowing again, but I still have 187 messages in my queue that wont get delivered no matter how many times I flush it.
    After more research, I issued a ps -U clamav to see if amavisd is running, below are the only results I get:
    PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND
    1291 ?? Ss 0:00.01 freshclam -d -D -pfreshclam.pid -c 1
    I would assume it is NOT running...? I next issued amavisd to see if it throws any errors, and get the following:
    ERROR: MISSING REQUIRED BASIC MODULES:
    MIME::Parser
    BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/amavisd line 139.
    So my next question is how do I repair amavisd so I can get it to run so I can reenable the content filter. Here are the results of postconf in case you need them:

    TIA for an help!

    To get the queue going, issue:
    sudo postsuper -r ALL
    That said, I would think you initially introduced a typo in amavisd.conf. Next you probably restored amavisd and amavisd.conf files which were incompatible with each other and/or amavis incompatible with the updated perl modules of the latest security update.
    To fix things, I would re-apply the latest combo updater and security updates (assuming you are running stock versions and have not installed your own versions of amavisd, etc).
    If things still do not work, please post the output of:
    amavisd -V

  • Service not running logged an alert?

    Hello,
    There is a service on a Linux machine I don't want it to run.
    I am getting an alert from SCOM:
    Alert: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Process Klog Monitor Alert
    Resolution state: New
    Source: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)
    Path: Server
    Last modified by: System
    Last modified time: 4/21/2014 6:54:58 AM
    Alert description: The KLOGD - Kernel Message Logging daemon on server Server is not running.
    I could disable the alert for this service on this server Server but anyway to prevent the server Server to send this information. I know in Windows if the startup type is set to "Automatic" SCOM is looking for a service running, if the Startup
    type is set to manual no check.
    Do we have the same type of check in Linux?
    Thanks,
    Dom

    Dom,
    Doesn't work the same as Windows. Just override the monitor in the MP and disable it from monitoring the klog daemon.

    Is your crontask not running at all or is the scheduled task failing?
    Hey Tommy I sent you some replies yesterday; don't know what happened to them. Yes I can see that crond runs every ten minutes. Also when I created the crontab file using the command you sent here I could see that it was running every minute by looking at root mail in /var/log.
    Do you have execute permission set on the scripts?
    Yes
    Any info in /var/log/messages or e-mail?

  • Launchd daemon not starting correctly on launch

    Hi All,
    I have a script that I like to have run anytime my wireless network changes.  The script needs to be run under sudo, so I created a daemon inside of /Library/LaunchDaemons .
    My plist file looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
              <key>Disabled</key>
                   <false/>
              <key>Label</key>
                   <string>my.plist.name</string>
              <key>ProgramArguments</key>
                   <array>
                                  <string>/path/to/script/to/run.sh</string>
                   </array>
              <key>WatchPaths</key>
                   <array>
                                  <string>/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.pr eferences.plist</string>
                   </array>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    So here's where the oddness starts happening.  When I start up my computer, launchctl tells me that this daemon is loaded.  (I run sudo launchctl list and it's there).  However, the script does not run when it should.
    However, if I manually unload and then load the plist using the launchctl command then everything works completely fine.
    So the question is, why does it work when I load it manually, but not work when the system loads it on startup?
    Thanks,
    Q

    No suspicious message in the console.  When I sudo launchctl list it shows up with a 0 in the second field.
    The only thing I can find in doing some google-ing is this:
    https://managingosx.wordpress.com/2006/05/10/launchd-gotcha/
    Which seems to imply that a launch daemon that is watching a file will fail to work if that file doesn't exist at all times.  However, I would think that /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist should always exist.  So I'm still perplexed.
    Right now I have a seomwhat convoluted system set up as the following:
    My launch daemon (that needs to run as root) is set to watch a folder ~/random/
    Then I have a launch agent which successfully watches for changes in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist and when it sees them touches a file in ~/random/.
    The launch daemon then deletes that file and successfully runs the script I want it to run.
    It seems weird/odd/annoying to have to set up a this double-headed process just to do something simple like this, so I'm open to suggestions as to what is going on.

  • Problem with OVM Server 3.2.6 - xend not running

    Hi, just now I upgraded my server to OVM Server 3.2.6 version and server boots up, cluster is up but I have message that Hypervisor is running in UNDETERMINED bit mode (WARNING: XEND IS PROBABLY NOT RUNNING). While boot I saw message that xend failed to start because "mount point /proc/xen does not exist". Also when it tries to start xend, there is message "xencommons should be started first". Reinstalling OVMS did not help. Does anyone have this problem?
    Thanks.

    For me, it looks like the same.

  • Apex Tomcat server is not running

    oracle version :10g

    OS :unix
    1.database server is working
    2.apex server down

    every thing fine .
    but we cannot able to access server we are receving message
    unable to found server
    tomcat is not running .
    can you please help us to run tomcat .
    regards
    r

  • Calendar utilities report that Calendar server is not running

    Hi All,
    When i try to use calendar server utilities e.g. uniwho, unistat, unicpoutu etc, I always get server is down or server is not running but while using other utilities e.g. uniical, uniuser, uniping works fine.
    I have started/stopped server many times using unistart/unistop but result is same. Web portal and windows client works fine.
    Can anybody guess, what can be the problem? Why some utilities can work and some can't?
    Thanks and Regards

    Dave,
    Thanks for looking at the issue we encountered. Our Extend client config is as follows. Unfortunately I do not have the full log from the extend client vm as in this case extend client runs on our client's desktop.
