Daily connection interuptions

Almost every day for the last few weeks my Broadband connection drops out at some time. I glance at the Home Hb and the orange light is flashing. The flashing light indicates it's connecting to Broadband. Once it stops flashing the Broadband connection comes back
Anyone know why it keeps dropping out in the first place? My PC is connected to the Hub by cable.

The quiet line test was completely silent even with a cordless phone.
As you can see there's nothing wrong with my speed, it's just these annoying random disconnections.

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and ever since I keep losing the connection with my Synology diskstation. My iMac will go to sleep and i get the "server connection interupted" window for all my connections to the diskstation. I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this? This was not an issue until I upgraded.

Is it using Airport/Wifi?

For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Daily connection failed

Hi all,
I have a macbook air that is running OS X 10.9.4 and a three month old apple time capsule running the latest firmware. I also have an old iMac that is also running OS X 10.9.4 should it make any difference.
The time capsule worked fine for a couple of weeks after purchasing it, but for the past couple of months it has been next to useless. Every single day I wake up and turn up my macbook to find the message that the backup has failed. Furthermore, when I try to connect to the time capsule it gives me the connection failed message. If I then click connect as it fails and says it can't find it or some such message.
To solve it, I do a power cycle and then when it comes back on, I can connect as usual and then run a backup. However, the next day the whole thing has fallen over again and I am left having to repeat the process. It is really frustrating.
Had a quick search on here, but does anyone know what to do? I am as we speak disabling the power nap function and trying that as I read somewhere that solved the problem.
Any suggestions or experiences to share in terms of fixing this!? At the moment it is a very expensive plastic ornament that doesn't work!

Yes,, we see a lot of this complaint.. it is the combo of TC and Mavericks which is painful.
There are some things you can do to help it.. might not be a cure but should stop the issue happening daily.
Time Machine Can't Find Backup Disk
You will see the OP in the thread is still having the same issue and gave up.. but I think if you are prepared to pursue it then you can get a bit further.

I recently installed a 2TB time capsule and everything works fine but keep getting a server connections interrupted. What does that mean and how do I get rid of it.

It means Apple have done a lousy job with Lion or ML and TC networking.

Sever Connection Interuptted

Since installing OSX 10.5 on my PPC laptop I keep getting an error message when I wake my laptop "Sever Connection Interrupted: myg1728" (myg being my IDisk) and I must click ok to Disconnect or I just keep getting the message. I am not sure but I think this has something to do with my G4 trying to sync to my IDisk and failing but am not sure at this point. Any ideas what this is trying to tell me?

XBOX360 and PS3 connection interupted on Call of Duty 4

Hey all,
so i have a xbox 360 and my brother has a ps3. when we try and play cod4 online it will work for a little bit. but after a game or 2 we will game connection inturpted and are kicked out of the game. for some reason we are the only ppl that get kicked out of the game and our internet is still up because we can join a different game. when i am playing my xbox 360 online and i am in an xbox live party chat i will get kicked out of the party. I will also get kicked out of the game by connection inturpeted aswell. i called op linksys and had them port trigger it for my ps3 just incase it was the ports that were messed up. I trigger port 53 to 11,000. and it still kicks me out of the games and live parties....please please help me

As you both XBOX and PS3 are getting disconnected from the network automatically. Here are some settings which you can set on your Router and i think this might solve your probelm.
This settings are for your Xbox :-
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3) Click on set-up and change the MTU Size to 1452 and click Save Settings...Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...

Personal File Sharing: Lost Connection

I'm trying to use my new miniStack external HD attached via Firewire to my Mac mini as a pseudo network drive. In other words, I want that drive available to my mini and my two iBooks. If I can get that working, I'd like it available to my XP box as well.
I have wireless internet via an Airport Express and cable modem throughout the house. All four computers are attached via wireless cards.
I've turned on personal file sharing on the mini using my administrator log in. I've also activated AppleTalk via the Airport settings in the Network preference settings.
I've also activated AppleTalk on my iBook and turned on personal file sharing.
All my Macs are running the latest version of OS X (10.4.7).
I restarted both machines after making the above setting selections. I then used the Finder on my iBook to search for the mini. I clicked on the Network icon, found 'servers', 'library', and the following folders: "home" which has my XP box readily accessible, "My Network" and "Workgroup". Each of these last has an icon for my mini.
When I double click on my Mini, it shows me all volumes on it, including my miniStack. I select one to connect to and get a beach ball followed by an error message saying "Server Connection Interupted: miniStack" and a single button marked 'disconnect'.
After I press the disconnect button (my only choice) I notice that personal file sharing on my mini is now turned off.
This exact same thing happens when I try to access the native internal HD on my mini so it isn't just the external stack that's the problem.
I've searched high and low through the fora here and can't find anything addressing this.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

After much trial and error, I finally resorted to doing a Archive and Install on my mini. After doing so, everything works great. I still have no clue what the problem was but I now have no interest in finding out since it's working great.
Of note, the lost connection problem was unidirectional. I had no difficulties logging onto and accessing anything on either of my iBooks from my mini. Just the other way around.

I have enabled web analytical reports but its showing only how many times a user is connected to site.I need date also
Project server 2010 version.

What Badal Ratra gave you would be the basis for your query to populate your own table...Project Server does not give you a way to do a daily connect report
One of the ways I would go about doing this would be to run a nightly query to update a table - fill it in with the necessary data and run your report off that newly created table
High Level Steps:
(1) Create a table in the Reporting Database call DailyVisits
(1a) The table would have Name/Date/Connected columns
(1b) You wouldn't need a no answer for connected columns since the answer would always be yes, the result set would ONLY have users who connected for each day. And really you would only need 2 columns since the "connected" column would always
be Yes...
(2) Create a query that would query the published database (msp_resources) for the current day and store the result set in the table DailyVisits
(3) Put this query in a nightly task to append to the DailyVisits table @ 11:55pm (for example)
(4) Let the query run and you'll have only the users who connected for that day - the DailyVisits table would represent users who visited every day.
As long as the query runs nightly you'll have the information you're looking for - the one caveat is that it will only be starting from the day you start running the query.
You could also append the older user (last_connect) information from the resources table from other users to populate the dates but that would only represent a single entry/single last connect date. This "old" information would represent the
base for the table.

Problems With Xbox live "conection Interupted" HELP

I have a Xbox 360, and have just recently got internet. Its cable internet from comcast, im using a RCA modem, and a Linksys WRT16010 V3 router. Hooked into my router(wired) i have my bluray player, and my Xbox 360; while my computer uses it wirelessly. The problem is whille on Xbox live, playing CODWAW the screen will "jump" and then flash "connection interupted" then kick me off!!! When i set up my xbox i just used the prompts it gave me on the screen. I have tried exchanging the router, called the internet provider and it tested fine. This will happen any time of day even when my computer or bluray player is not on. Is there something i should set up with the router, or my xbox?? please help, for this is very frustrating.

To make your XBOX work perfectly fine with your Router, you need to make certain changes on your router. Follow the settings below :

After updating to the latest software, my iPhone 4s and iPad 2 are not recognized by iTunes. I have attempted all of the suggusted material on Apple support. I am not satisfied as these items are needed daily.

Connect the device to the computer.
Quit iTunes if it launches.
Click the Start menu, right-click on Computer, and choose Properties.
In the upper-left corner, click Device Manager. The Device Manager window should open.

Script to drop empty caches

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to drop group of empty caches that have specific name pattern, such as xyz-realtime-*.
Our program dynamically creates temporary caches that after some time have all the objects expired and stay empty. I'm thinking of a reaper script that can run daily, connect to the cluster, find such empty caches and remove them. Would it be even possible?
Any advise or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Lightroom 3.5 Import Errors using Synology NAS on Macbook

Hi all,
I've been trying out Lighroom 3.5 and I love it, with one exception....
When importing my archive (which is stored on a Synology Diskstation DS211j, accessed via an Airport Extreme), I get multiple import errors (around 5% of the total files), saying files are unreadable, unrecognisable etc. Some of the previews are also corrupt. I also get the "Server connection interupted" dialog in OS X Lion too, during the import. After Synchronizing the folder, it successfully imports more of the files yet still with a few errors. After the third or forth successive Sync, the operation is successful, with all files imported.
Now, this would point to a problem with my network connection or my NAS or its drives, however, this only happens with Lightroom. The files are not corrupt as they are imported sucessfully eventually. I work with the files outside of Lightroom all the time, and also stream my iTunes library sucessfully from the same drive, with no problems.
I have imported the same archive into Aperture, and encountered not a single read error or "Server connection interupted" dialog box.
Any ideas what is going on here?

I am having the same problem with my iPad and ios5 since I switched I have had the same issue. I am a wedding photographer so I transfer about 2000 raw images at a time. Also, is there a way to see a log of the old import problems. Once I close out the error window I can't seem to find a way to see what exact files it had problems with unless they haven't been imported to the catalog at all ever and I just do a reimport and skip duplicates. Sometimes it takes upwards of 5 times for those problematic files to be imported into LR just fine.

MacBook and Openoffice 2.0

I desperately need to be able to use the Database in the OpenOffice Suite. I have already installed X11, and the openoffice word processor runs fine. The problem is when i try to open a table in the database i get an error message:
"Openoffice.org requires a Java rutime environment (JRE) to perform this task. the selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools-Options-Openoffice.org-java"
When i click ok i get another message: "The connection to the data source "Experimental Table" could not be established. No java installation could be found. Please check your installation!"
Neither message makes much sense... If i go to "Tools-Options-Openoffice.org-java" as the first message suggests, it shows "Java runtime enviroments (JRE) already installed: Java version 1.4.2_09.
If i try to download another version of Java i recieve a message that says i can't download another java onto my harddrive since another (better) version of java is already present.
Please help!

When i download the version you suggest, the Icon that mounts is a "MacOSX" icon. When i open it there are many files i can choose from. Among them are the two you mentioned, but there is also a 2.0.0 a 2.0.1rc5 a couple other simple ones and then weird names like "fink" "moz" or "kinput2.macim"
At any rate when i choose 2.0.2rc4 i then scroll thru and select the US english version called "OOo2.0.2rc4.2006408_MacOSXIntelen-US.dmg"
After i select it i immediately get a message that says "The application is on an FTP server. Are you sure you want to open it?" I click continue and it displays the exact same message again. Then i click continue and nothing appears to happen. My downloads window remains empty... So i click on the "OOo2.0.2rc4.2006408_MacOSXIntelen-US.dmg" file again and go thru the two error messages and now nothing seems to be happening, but within the 2.0.2rc4 file my mouse turns into a spinning pinwheel and then after about 5min of waiting i get message that reads "Server connection interupted: ooopackages.good-day.net Then it gives me the option to disconnect but the mouse still turns into a pinwheel when i put it over the 2.0.2rc4 window.

Is RAID the solution to safeguard my external drive data?

I have a 1TB WD My Book attached to my iMac, which has about 10 years worth of 'stuff' on it. My son's baby pictures are probably the most precious in all of that.
I have another external 320GB hard drive connected that I use for Time Machine.
Recently, I thought I lost the WD My Book and my heart skipped a few beats - stopped - then kicked back into life. Needless to say, I'm very anxious at the moment.
I was thinking of getting another 1TB WD My Book (it's quite a bit cheaper now :-)), daisy chain the two drives, and create a RAID 1 set of the two 1TB drives.
Could the wise and kind souls of this forum advise if this would work, and indeed, if it is the best option for what I want to do?
I have toyed with getting a Drobo, but that company does not retail to Malaysia at this time.

I guess my main consideration for RAID was that it would be 'real time mirroring/cloning' but since my data isn't mission critical - but more 'sentimentally critical', a Super Duper routine that does a copy of the 2 drives every time I shutdown, or something along those lines, may suffice.
If your most precious data is currently only on one drive, then a constant mirroring solution or daily connected clone solution is the wrong next step. You're skipping a more important step. You need to have a backup that is off site, or at the very least, usually disconnected or read-only.
Even with your current proposal, your data is too vulnerable. You could lose it in these ways.
a. A fire destroys the home. Both original drive and backup are destroyed.
b. A burglar steals your entire computer system, including all connected drives. Which means he also has your backup drive, and you have nothing.
c. A lightning strike hits your home electrical system. The computer and all connected peripherals are fried.
d. A glitch or bug corrupts a critical file, but you don't notice. That night, your backup routine copies that day's changes to your backup disk. Later, you try to open the critical file, but you discover that the original is corrupted, and the backup is also corrupted because the last good version got written over with the bad copy during the backup. You no longer have a good copy of that file.
If you don't already have your baby pictures and other similarly critical data already copied to a disk that is not always connected to your system, you are vulnerable to the above and more. If your most critical files fit on a few DVDs, put them on DVDs and store them at another location, like a relative's house or a safe deposit box. I do clone to external drives, but I only connect them during the backup; when not backing up they are locked away in a safe so that if something bad happens to the computer, maybe it won't also happen to the backup. And there is more than one backup drive so that I can have more than one version and one is kept off site and rotated in occasionally. And I started using Time Machine for more frequent backups, and more versions of changed files.
Automatic online mirror/clone or Time Machine = near term backups, can't be an archive
Multiple hard drives rotated off site = protection against disasters to on site storage
Read-only media like DVDs = long term archives of irreplaceable files
