Daq-card as PC-based oscilloscope with LabVIEW

I want to use my NIDAQ card (PCI 6221) as a PC-based oscilloscope under LabVIEW. I found a LabVIEW program on the NI site, but it did not work. Are there other programs available that function as an oscilloscope?

Please have a look at this example. It runs with all M- and E-Series boards.
I hope that helps,

  • Connecting Agilent DSO3062A Oscilloscope with LabVIEW using USB

I am trying to connect Agilent DSO3062A Oscilloscope with LabVIEW using USB but the device is not recognized by MAX. I have installed the drivers for scope and it works fine with the scope software. The problem is LabVIEW dosen't recognize the scope. Please tell me the procedure of setting up the scope with LabVIEW 8.2. I am using Windows XP.

    Hi there,
I think the issue is that the DSO3062A will not be recognized by LabView as a GPIB instrument through the USB connection. If you check out the 3000 series manual (http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/D3000-97016.pdf) you'll notice on page 8 it says you can't use the USB for programming, it can only be used with their scope software. You need the N2861 module installed on the back to connect via GPIB, and then a GPIB interface to your computer. I hope that helps.

  • Can ni-daq 6.9.3 nbe used with labview 4

can ni-daq 6.9.3 nbe used with labview 4

    Greetings,
The earliest version of LabVIEW supported by NI-DAQ 6.9.3 is LabVIEW
5.0. The newest version of NI-DAQ to support LabVIEW 4 is NI-DAQ 6.6.
So, you will either have to upgrade LabVIEW or use NI-DAQ 6.6. You
can download NI-DAQ 6.6 from the link below.

  • How do I count arbitrary pulses from an oscilloscope with labview

I am looking at arbitrary pulses on a TEK 2024B oscilloscope.  I want to use LabView to count those pulses and record a time stamp for each pulse (perhaps to an excel spreadsheat).  The duration of the measurement is over ten minutes and the pulses, on the average, occur once per millisecond.  How do I count/record these pulses with LabView?

    Jay,
I would start by downloading the Instrument Driver for the 2024B from ni.com/idnet It should have the functions that the scope is capable of implemented there. If you have problems using the driver please post back.

  • 6025E DAQ card is not communicating with driver I have written

I recently wrote a driver that used the 6025E DAQ card. I then packaged up this product, and am in the process of creating a second identical product. The problem is that the software I wrote does not work with the new hardware card. Nothing has changed, except for the new card. Basically, the first product works great, the second one does not... They both seem to be using the same version of NI-DAQ (6.9.1), and I can't think of anything else that would cause these problems...
Could it be the computer speed? The actual system is a 866 MHz, but the test system (until the new computer arrives) is only 250 MHz...
In addition, the NI-DAQ test software works fine, i.e. I can send Digital inputs and th
e NI-DAQ test software will process the signals, but my software will not.

First, I want to make sure I understand your terminology. You have written a driver for your 6025E? We consider NI-DAQ(6.9.1) the driver for the DAQ boards. If you are making NI-DAQ function calls, then I'd say you are using the driver. (You're not making register-level programming calls are you?)
It's hard to say what the problem is right away, but I guess I do have some suggestions. In case you were wondering, computer speed usually isn't a problem when using standard DIO.
What does your program do? Find a similar example program in your ...\NI-DAQ\Examples folder and see if it works.
What is the other board you are trying to use? Is it also a 6025E?
Also, you said the program is not working, but what is the result? Are you getting any kind of e

  • Difference between simple DAQ card and FPGA based DAQ card(like PCI 7831R)

Could any one tell me, where should i use simple DAQ card and where should i use FPGA based DAQ card ? if i can take data acquisition from simple DAQ card then why we go to the FPGA based DAQ cards(like PCI 7831R) ?

    Hello,
The choice of card depends on the application that you develop. For example, you’d better use FPGA if you need a perfect synchronization of several acquisition chains as FPGA matrix will adapt in the way that your channels will be separated and will no use common resources. Another example of FPGA application can be acquisition of several chains of the data that demands very high sampling frequency (FPGA internal frequency can be up to 400MHz).
When using FPGA you have to program signal acquisition “from the beginning”, I mean that there are no standard tasks as, for example, “counting edges”. But due to this you can modify standard tasks of DAQ acquisition if you need it.

  • I would like to know: what sort of DAQ card, I have to use with LabWindows, to have datas from 3 sensors?

If you have some references or internet sites, please, answer me.
    A French guy.

Most any of National Instrument's DAQ boards will do this. We provide a tool to help you pick which DAQ card is best for your application called DAQ Designer. You can access DAQ Designer online at: http://www.ni.com/daq/ddonline.htm.

  • How to use PXI 6071E daq card to complete multichannels scan with high sampling speed

I used pxi 6071E daq card to acquire 115v 400hz AC signals.when I use mutichannel scan function,I find that the voltage of waveforms have much more error. The voltage error is about 0~15v.please you can tell me why this happened?how to solve it.

    Sunny;
As you are scanning multiple channels and the signal range is high, you can try to set the interchannel delay a little higher. The interchannel delay is the time which the multiplexer will take to switch to the next channel. If that time is to short, the instrumentation amplifier can have problems to settle, and then an error at the reading will happen.
You can change the Interchannel delay at the AI Config.vi.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why is it that I can't do a continuous streaming to disk with a 5102 scope card (PCI) when I can do it with a DAQ Card of much lower specs (my requirement is for small sampling rates only)?

I am told that the 5102 Card (PCI) does not support continuous streaming of data to the hard disk. My application requires only very low sampling rates. If I can do it with a low spec DAQ Card using LabView why can't I do it with this card?

    Hello,
The PCI-5102 is a high-speed digitizer card that has a slightly different architecture than the DAQ cards and was not built with the ability to stream data to the PC. However if you are sampling at low rates you can still acquire up to 16 million samples, which is done by using dma to tranfer data from the onboard memory on the 5102 to the PC memory. However, you will not be able to save the data to disk until the acquisition is complete.
Another option would be to purchase either a DAQ card or a PCI-5112. Both boards can continuously stream data to the host PC and you should not run into any PCI bus limitations if you are stream to disk at relativiely slower rates.

  • What is the maximum number of samples that can be acquired with a single trigger using PCI-6036E DAQ card?

    1. My PCI-6036E card has a FIFO of 1024 bytes in AI. Maximum how many samples can be acquired with single trigger for digitizing a waveform?
    2. PCI-6036E DAQ card has got a AO with 10ks/s update rate? Can I generate a pulsed output with the AO of this card? I need a pulse of, say, 5 V and 1 kHz frequency.

    Giri,
1.The trigger is usually for enabling the acquisition. I mean, when it is logic zero, you acquire nothing; however, when it is logic one, you start acquiring your waveform, and you can acquire continuously without having to worry about how many samples, unless you want to set your program for doing so. You can acquire continuously by implementing buffer acquisition. Finally, the FIFO that is in the board will not affect the buffer acquisition.
2.Yes, you can do that! You can generate your 5V signal with that specific frequency, and you should not have any problems, because the freq fits in the update rate.
I hope this information is helpful.

  • How do i generate the TTL pulse from PCI 6024E DAQ card

Hi, I'm trying to write a program which generates a single TTL pulse when it is run. My goal is to generate the pulse, send it to the output channel of my PCI 6024E DAQ card, and then use a BNC cable, to display the signal on the oscilloscope. I have written the code and I think it appears fine but when I try to view the signal on the scope I am unable to see the pulse. I have tried slowing down the sweep on the scope and have adjusted the voltage and time scales but have not seen any response. After examing my DAQ card, I noticed that none of the PFI/TRIG terminals on the card are wired; the output channel connects to terminals for DAC0OUT and Ground. I'm wondering if this pin needs to be wired in orde
r to generate the pulse since PFI0/TRIG1 is the start trigger terminal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • PCI-6023E DAQ card maximum sampling frequency

    Hello
I am using PCI-6023E DAQ card in pc-based ETS solution (and writing appilication in LabView 7.1 with RT module). The card has 200kS/s maximum sampling frequency, but it can be set for much higher sampling frequencies and the waveform acquired appears to be correct (i.e. i've tried setting it fo 1MS/s and sampling 400kHz sine, which is obviously above Nyquist frequency for 200kS/s card, but on spectral graph, main peak is at 400kHz). Is the card driver doing some kind of free/coherent sampling?
Moreover, when sampling frequency is set to 200kS/s, the card seems to be doing same thing - i.e. for 200kS/s and sample block size of 200kS, graph should be updated once in a second, but it's updating slighty slower.
I'd really appreciate if someone could explain me (or gave me a link to materials) what exactly is happening here? Is driver doing some background work, or maybe it is problem with network latency/unstability ? What is the impact of this effect on real-time aquisition?
    Thanks in advance
    Jan Kienig

Since the fundemental is 4 times the nyquist, then what you are measuring is an alias of the fundemental. This works well as long as the fundemental is a repetitive signal. Sampling every other peak and every other node looks the same as sampling every peak and node. Tektronix exploited this on their 7S series sampling heads. Another use of this phenomena is the effective demodulation of high frequency signals as long as the bandwidth meets nyquist. As with your card, if the input amplifier supported it, I could extract modulation information from a 500 MHz signal so long as the the bandwith of that modulation did not exceed 100 kHz.
