DAQ wizards not recognizing PCI-6014

I'm trying to do some simple data logging and also a PI loop with 4-20mA out using a pci 6014. The assistants don't recognize my hardware. I've got the data logging running but am having trouble writing to the analog out (I'm planning to use an IC to convert the 0-10V to 4-20mA). The NI-MAX can write to the card OK as can some of the examples, however when I try to write to two channels at once using the examples I get an error. Also I can't change the AO-write.vi to accept a non-waveform data type.
Thanks
Tom

Tom,
The reason your board isn't recognized by the DAQ Assistant is because the DAQ Assistant uses NI-DAQmx functionality which currently is not compatible with the PCI-6014. You will have to use Traditional DAQ 7.0 or earlier.
As far as the errors you are receiving, can you be more specific as to the error #s and/or messages?
Hope this helps. Have a great day!

  • G5 Dual Core not recognizing PCI Express to USB card

I can not get my G5 (late 2005) to recognize a new PCI Express-to-USB 2.0 5-port card. This is an NEC -chip set card, model SD-PEX-NEC5U.
I have another USB card in Slot-4 and, of course, the graphic card (GeForce 6600) in Slot-1.
I've tried this new card in both Slot-2 and Slot-3 with no joy. This is the second NEC card I have tried, thinking the first one was defective.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
    Thanks!

    Hi drmemory-
Unfortunately it isn't as simple as being compliant with a couple of mutual standards. No matter what platform you are using you will most likely need drivers. Were there any mac drivers on the disk? That is usually a clue about compatibility.
Considering that the System Profiler doesn't see it, perhaps and SMU reset is in order: How to reset the SMU on a Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) or Power Mac G5 (Late 2005)

  • Measuring the output voltage from a laser detector(photodiode-TSL 250) using PCI-6014?

i am using a photodetector (TSL-250) to detect the different intensity of the laser beam, since the laser beam is passing throught a different depthness of liquid dye. I am measuring the output in voltage form. is there any measurement studio - Visual basic example illustrate this kind of measurement? thanks

Sounds like this is a simple continuous analog input application. Here are some starting points for example code based on which environment you have. Note: the PCI-6014 is supported by both NI-DAQmx (7.1 only) and Traditional NI-DAQ (7.1 and earlier).

  • PCI-6014 not recognized by Windows 2000

I recently purchased and just installed a PCI-6014 in a new Dell Optiplex running Windows 2000 (sp2, we have stayed at sp2 due to problems we have had with sp3, sp4). On this same machine I have LabVIEW 7.0 with all the bells, including NI-DAQ 7.0. When I put the pci card in for the first time (and every one of many times I have restarted since) I NEVER have seen the "new hardware found" message come up. That's bad sign one. And the hardware device manager doesn't see it either (I think that would follow from no new hardware being detected..) Then I have run MAX 3.0 (also on the machine) and all it finds is this bizarre thing called "PXI System" under devices and interfaces. I also have an eight port serial card in this machine which MAX does see. I eventually removed both the Serial card and the PCI-6014 (daq card) and even after a restart the "PXI system" device or whatever STILL shows up under devices and interfaces... So I just don't know what that is?? Any help there would be appreciated.. So question one is what is "PXI system" likely referring to?? ..And to say more about it when you click the plus sign next to the "PXI system" entry it shows what appears to be a VISA resource name of PXIO::MEMACC. But again that shows up even with the card removed.
Back to the PCI card seemingly not being recognized I also read somewhere that there could be issues with this card and the new version of NI-DAQ 7.0. So I uninstalled that version from the machine and put on the version that came with the PCI card, NI-DAQ 6.9.3. But same story... Windows doesn't see it and unless this PXI system is somehow referring to this PCI card (??) then MAX doesn't seem to be seeing it either... Any advice on how to get this card up and running or how to truly troubleshoot to see if the card was dead out of the box?? ...Something I have never had happen before and somehow I still think it is just some silliness on my part...
Lastly, when I looked for the documentation for this card amont the long, long list of daq boards listed in the NI-DAQ software, nowhere did I find an entry for this PCI-6014 card. And I looked carefully. Does that mean I have a horribly old or outdated card??
Any help would be appreciated... thanks...

I am glad to hear that you got your card recognized correctly, too bad you have some bad PCI slots, though. The entry is shown by default and cannot be removed, but if you were to ever have a PXI chassis attached, your cards would be listed under this option, it is also where you would configure your controller and your chassis type. Also by default, there are no entries under this heading since you are not connected to a PXI system.

  • How can I convert a 0-50mA signal to 0-5 VDC for use by a PCI-6014 DAQ?

I have a PCI-6014 DAQ card. I am trying to measure the output of a closed-loop current sensor, which has an output of 0-50mA. When I tried using a 100 ohm resistor as a load (to measure across the resistor to get a voltage input for the DAQ) I get an AC voltage reading! I do not know how to convert the AC Voltage to a varying DC voltage. Most AC-DC converters output a fixed DC voltage (3.3V, 12V, 15V, etc.). Can the PCI-6014 measure the current directly OR is there a method to measure the VARYING 0-5 volt AC voltage? Please be specific, if possible. Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
PCI-6014 can measure an AC voltage directly. The Test Panels in MAX will show the peak voltage level of a signal, and not the root mean square (RMS) voltage. For example, if you measure the 120 VAC 60 Hz sinusoidal waveform that is available from a standard North American wall outlet, you will see a wave with a peak of about 170 V.
The conversion between VRMS and Vo is VRMS = Vo/√2.
You will need to determine whether you expect your AC signal to be in units RMS or peak-voltage and make the conversion, if necessary, using the formula above.

  • PCI 7330 not recognized in Windows 7

When I transferred my 7330 motion controller board to another PC, it is not recognized in MAX. Windows system put it as unknown PCI board.
The PC runs on Windows 7. LabVIEW 2010 and MAX 4.7 were installed. What could be the reason for the 7330 not being recognized?
    Thanks.

Yes, I found out why. When I install the device drivers, I always install the default selected drivers. So it must be that NI-Motion driver is not included in those defaults. The second time, I specifically selected to install NI-Motion;now the board is recognized well.
It's trivial, but another thing learned. Thanks for the reply. I also posted this on the hardware forum.

  • Correct termocouple reading by VI channel test panel but not by DAQ wizards.

    1. I am getting correct termocouple readings when using the virtual channel test panel, but not when using labView software created by the DAQ wizards. why and how to solve it?
    2. I am unable to switch on 6V relay using DAQ card's output voltage but able to do so using other voltage supply. How to solve this?

In answer to #2, the DAQ card's analog and digital outputs cannot drive
enough current to turn on a relay. What you need to do is use the output to
drive a MSOFET or transistor that will drive the relay. You can use the 5V
computer supply that is available on the DAQ card connector as the power
supply that the MOSFET or transistor use to turn the relay on.

    Hi,
From your narration, you can clear the configuration cache, then re-run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard, check the effect.
Cleared the cache of config database by following below steps.
    1. Stopped the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service.
    2. Started on the SharePoint Server where Central Administration Site is hosted. Browse to
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config\
    3. Deleted all the xml files. (But do not delete the cache.ini file.)
    4. Then Edited the cache.ini and replaced the current value with "1".
    5. Restarted the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service on the Central Admin server .

  • PCI-Servo-4A cards not recognized by computer

After shipping a computer with PCI-Servo-4A cards (which had been working for 2 years), my computer did not recognized several of the cards. These cards are not recognized in other working computers, and both computers recognize other "good" PCI-Servo-4A cards. There is a hardware failure on the cards (I have 10 with this problem). Has anyone repaired PCI-Servo-4A cards with this problem, and is there a "shotgun approach" to replacing a most likely culprit part?

  • Z87M-g43 pcie device not recognized

    Hi,
we have a gaming pc using the z87M-G43 MB.  it has a sapphire R9 270 board in pcie 1 slot.  it covers the pcie 2 slot.  we've installed an avermedia HD gamer capture card in the pcie 3 slot.  this is the second card to rule out it being DOA.  the card appears fully seated in the slot.  however it's not recognized according to the bios MB explorer which shows that slot empty.  there are no explanation marks in the device manager.  i've also cleared the cmos and rebooted.
Everything else on the board works fine.  Any idea how to get the pcie 3 slot to work?
    system details: i3-4150, Sapphire R9 270 2GB,  2x4gb ballistix ddr3-1600, evga 500W 80+ bronze PSU
    Thanks for the help.

fair enough, the new capture card might be DOA as well.  I'll see if i can track down/borrow another pcie card to just try.  i note I read through a ton of the forums in the gaming mb subforum and saw other threads where folks had to install pcie cards in certain slots or the mb did not recognize them.
Hopefully someone will chime in regarding using a pcie card in the second pcie x16 slot.  that seems unlikely to work, though.
i can also try something else that would just be a test.  pull the r9 270 vga out and use the on-board vga.  that'll free up pcie_2 to try the capture card in.  that's not a real solution, but it'll at least test the card.  I've not done that yet as the rear most retaining clip is hard to get to and is a pain.
    Thanks,

  • IPhone 4 not recognized when connected to new USB 2.0 card

I have an iphone 4 OS4.1 on a no-name Windows XP Pro (service pack 3) PC with an AMD processor and lots of RAM.
I had the phone working and syncing beautifully with the onboard USB 1.1 but it was slow. So I bought a new PCI USB 2.0 card and installed it. Card is installed and there are no problems according to the status in System Devices.
But the computer does not recognize the iphone when plugged into one of those ports. If I plug it into one of the USB 1.1 ports that are still in the machine, it syncs and works fine. If I plug it into one of the new USB 2.0 ports, the PC shows the window at bottom right saying the device is not recognized. Tried the wizard but it's useless.
    THOUGHTS?????

    Nevermind!!!
It turned out to be a faulty cable! I tried it with a different sync cable and it works fine!
    So disregard the question above.

  • Hardware-timed counting of two TTL sources with a pair of PCI-6014's

First, in a nutshell:  I'm trying to count TTL pulses from two photon
detectors with short (.1-1 ms) integration times, for fluorescence
correlation spectroscopy.  I have a  pair of PCI-6014 DAQs, each with a
    BNC breakout box.
First I created a LabView vi in which the counter from Dev1 outputs a
pulsetrain of the appropriate integration time, and then Dev1/CTR0 out
is physically routed to Dev2/PFI0 to time the acquisition of TTL pulses
on Dev2/CTR0.   This seemed to work fine.   The vi is attached below
    (1_counter_works).
Then I added a second counter task, using Dev2/CTR1.  Up until now
    I've
been using a LabView vi in which I use this same idea, but with a
software-timed loop for integration times of >5ms.  Software
    timing
is too slow for shorter integration times, which is why I'm trying to
use hardware timing.  But when I  add the second channel, I
get the error "No DMA channels available", which is reasonable, I
guess, because each pci6014 only has one DMA channel.  So then I
tried to measure and queue the data in one loop structure, then pass it
to a second loop structure to analyze and display the output (and
eventually I will also update a large data array).  But I still
get the same DMA error.  That vi is also attached below
(2_counters_queue_notworking).  Perhaps I'm not doing the queueing
correctly.  I also tried doing the counter measurement and
queueing sequentially in a flat sequence, but was unsuccessful.
This question seems to have come up several times recently, but not
with the exact hardware I have.  I've looked through
    this thread,
    this one, and this one,
and haven't been able to solve the problem on my own.
Can anyone tell me if this is going to be possible with the hardware I have, and if so, how to go about employing queueing to

  • Measurement Studio 6 - PCI 6014

I'm using Measurement Studio 6 to make a sinusoidal wave with a PCI 6014. I've an error when i use the examples containing the CNiFgen class. I would like to know if it's possible to use Measurement studio with this card ?
It seems there is a problem with the device name (resource name). The example tells to use "DAQ::1"
    Thanks. (Sorry for my english)

    Hello,
The NI-FGEN drivers do not support the E series boards such as the PCI-6014. To generate a waveform with this board, you have to use the NI-DAQ drivers.
To use the NI-DAQ drivers with Visual C++ 6.0, you will directly use the Traditional NI-DAQ library. You will find examples in the "...\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\VisualC" folder.
If you develop with Visual Basic 6.0, you should use the Measurement Studio CWDAQ classe. You will find examples in the "...\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio\VB\Samples\DAQ" folder.
