  • Different authorizations for a Dashboard in a SAP NW BW Portal

    Hi everybody,
    we would like to use BO Dashboards / Xcelsius in our company. Everything is fine and the dashboards are looking fantastic. Since we would like to publish them on our SAP BW portal I have a question. Given a dashboard with a SAP NW BW connection that is published as an iView in the portal. And we have users with different authorizations. For example there is user A with the authorization to see data from a BW query for departments ABC and there is a second user X with the permission for dept. XYZ.
    Is it possible to configure the connection / dashboard in a way that only the data is used for the dashboard in dependence of the authorization at the SAP portal?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
    The person who creates the dashboard should have a BW ID which should have access to all the data required for the dashboard and as well access to EP portal. Else he wont be able to test and validate the dashboard once the development is done.
    The BW ID's belonging to the users with which they will access the dashboard, if already created or need to be created , then you can ask the authorization team to extend these ID's to EP System as well as provide the necessary BW Roles, ie access to the related queries and info providers. Once this is done they will have access to EP portal as well as the dashboard and the data displayed will be based on the roles provided to the ID.
    For ex User A will only see departments A-D and the User X will see Departments X-Z. You need not write logic for Dynamic Visibility as such for this. Once the roles are assigned to the users they wont be able to see any other data apart from the ones assigned to their ID's.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • SAP Portal - InfoView - Dashboard

    Hello, Our company is currently implementing SAP BW, SAP Portal and SAP Business Objects ( Xcelcius, WebI, Crystal).A few Dashboards have been built, accessing data in the new BI servers. I have very little knowledge of these and I am questioning the use of InfoView portal to display the Dashboards.  At present we access the SAP Portal, choose a Role named BI Analytics.  This Role accesses an URL iView that accesses another portal for  InfoView App.  This InfoView portal has a home page that allows the user to navigate to various reports and Dashboards.
    Our executives want quick easy access to their dashboards. I have never seen any presentations/demos that require so much navigation to occur in order to view a dashboard.   My question is why the InfoView Portal is required? Is this required to access all reports/dashboards that are fetching data from BI ?  Can't a Dashboard using data in BI, be directly accessed from the SAP Portal, like an URL iView or a Transaction iView would?
    Appreciate any expert comments and suggestions.
    Thank you
    MPersson

    Export your dashboard to webi infoview and you can use open doc syntax to call it from url

    We would like to check the SAP Portal role of a Portal user in a R/3 abap program.
    do you know if there is a bapi or a RFC module function to do that ?
    For example : the user CCDEMO (exists in EP and in R/3 backend) has a Buyer Portal role. In an abap program, I would like to have this information.

  • Com.sap.portal.pcm.UMENamespaces role property

    Dear All
    This must be easy for someone...
    We have built a series of EP6 SP20 portals based on content imported from pre existing systems. Subsequently there seem to be some new properties available for all the roles.
        com.sap.portal.pcm.UMENamespaces  and
        com.sap.security.core.usermanagement.description
    These properties have appeared in only one of the multiple portal environments that been been built and are not present in the source systems.
    If anyone is able to shed some light on what causes these properties to appear it would be very helpful.
    All the roles are affected, but newly created roles do not have the properties. The affected roles are all last changed by the user ume_service.
    Points available
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    It seems you don't have the necessary rights to create content in the portal_content/com.sap.portal.migrated/SAPComponentSystems/roles/ directory.
    You should check the permissions on the Portal Content > Migrated Content > SAPComponentSystems > roles directory (right click on the folder then Open > Permissions). With the default permissiosns, I think you need the super_admin_role or content_admin_role to import roles in the portal.

  • Mass updation of portal roles SAP portal

    Hello,
    During conversion , is there a way to mass update Manager (MSS) roles for users in Portal without doing it manually one by one. Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sanghamitra

    Dear
    Yes we can do it by using UME Script. so that you can write a UME script for Group, Role and user. after writing script then import it;
    Steps -
    1) Copy the following UME Scripts
    2) Navigate to the following location in the Portal
    User Administration  Import
    3) Paste each configuration script into the text box in the following order - IMPORTANT
    u2022     UME_xxxx_Groups
    u2022     UME_xxxx_Roles
    u2022     UME_xxxx_Users
    4) Ensure u201COverwrite Existing Datau201D is checked, and select u201CUploadu201D
    UME Script -
    1)
    [User]
    uid=ESS_USER
    last_name=User xx
    first_name=xxxx
    email=xxxx
    accessibility=0
    password=xxxx
    group=TestUsers
    2)
    [role]
    rid=pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/xxxx_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.xxxx/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.roles/com.sap.xxx.employee_self_service

    Hi Krishna ,
    I think you should highlight the portal role in presentation
    Now a days all organizations using sap portal as their user interface. We can login portal once and we can get all the information from bw,crm...sap systems and non sap systems.
    so no need to login each and every system individually.
    The portal offers a single point of access to SAP and non-SAP information sources, enterprise applications, information repositories, databases and services in and outside your organization—all integrated into a single user experience. It provides you the tools to manage this knowledge, to analyze and interrelate it, and to share and collaborate on the basis of it.
    With its role-based content, and personalization features, the portal enables users—from employees and customers to partners and suppliers—to focus exclusively on data relevant to daily decision-making processes

  • SAP Portal Network - WebDynpro iView and SAP Application iView sharing

    Hello All,
    I've read about the restrictions in SAP Portal supporting the WSRP standard for application sharing. Mainly WebDynpro iViews and SAP application iViews sharing is not supported. That is in the case of a SAP Portal as producer and Non-SAPPortal as consumer.
    I'm interested in a WebDynpro iViews and SAP application iViews sharing in a only-SAP Portals Network, where SAP Portals act as producer and consumer.
    I've heard about the Remote Role Assignment and Remote Content Copy that are used in such case. I would like to ask if anyone knows if these can help overcome the restriction in sharing WebDynpro iViews and SAP application iViews that is present with WSRP? And if the advantage of WSPR, that is the application execution and rendering on the producer side, and as follows decreasing of bandwidth usage, is remaining in the case of the Remote Role Assignment and Remote Content Copy.
    Thanks,
    Mladen

  • What do I need to know in SAP Portal from a SAP Basis Perspective?

    Hi Team,
    I am supporting SAP Portal, so wanted to know what I need to know from a Basis perspective?
    Thanks,
    Asad

    Hi asad,
    Hope you are doing good.
    Things that come to my mind:
    1) deploying EP usage types
    2) system connection configurations
    3) portal roles, user administration, permissions.
    4) iview amendments
    5) customizations etc.
    Thank you!
    Kind Regards,
