Data corruption when inserting xml to database

Hi,
I have discovered that some data get changed when I try to insert them into the database.
It seems that at a certain point, there is a buffer somewhere that runs full, and then some data get missing, and get replaced by other (so that some data are duplicate, while some are missing).
I get no error messages from the script indicating that anything is wrong.
Anyone who have an idea of where changes need to be made to the script??
thanks in advance,
Reidun
I use the following script:
import oracle.xml.sql.dml.*;
import java.sql.*;
import oracle.jdbc.driver.*;
import oracle.jdbc.*;
import java.net.*;
public class test_java
public static void main(String args[])
if (args.length != 5)
System.out.println("Usage: test_java <xml_directory> <table_name> <username> <passwd> <database>");
System.exit(-1);
String dirName = args[0];          // path to xml file
String tabName = args[1];          // table into which to insert
String fileName = dirName + "/" + tabName + ".xml";     // file name containing the xml doc
System.out.println("Read from " + fileName);
System.out.println("Insert into table " + tabName);
String s_username = args[2];
String s_passwd = args[3];
String s_db = args[4];
String s_connect = "jdbc:oracle:oci8:" + s_username + "/" + s_passwd + "@" + s_db;
System.out.println("Connect: " + s_connect);
try {
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
Connection conn =
DriverManager.getConnection(s_connect);
OracleXMLSave sav = new OracleXMLSave(conn, tabName);
sav.setDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");
sav.setIgnoreCase(true);
sav.setRowTag(tabName);
System.out.println("createURL...");
URL url = sav.createURL(fileName);
System.out.println("URL = " + url);
int rowCount = sav.insertXML(url);
sav.close();
System.out.println(" successfully inserted "+rowCount+
          " rows into "+ tabName);
conn.close();
catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println("Error: " + e.toString());
System.out.println("Aborting XML import for " + tabName);

Try setting the batch size to 1 ( ie oracleXMLSave().setBatchSize(1);)
The batch size defaults to 17 and sometimes this might cause similar behavior. It wonder if there is a bug already reported on this.

  • Issue with Date Conversion when loading XML File into Oracle 10g Database

    Hello all,
    I have the interface shown in the screenshot below. In it, amongst other actions, I'm mapping an XML file element representing a date to an Oracle table column defined as DATE. The source and target columns are highlighted in the screenshot.
    !http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/1565/odiscr275.jpg!
    When I execute the interface, I get the following error message:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException at java.sql.Date.valueOf(Date.java:103)
    I'm assuming this refers to the date conversion!
    I've already tried replacing SRC_TRADES.DEAL_DATE with TO_DATE( SRC_TRADES.DEAL_DATE, 'DD/MM/YYYY' ) in the Implementation tab. This function was not recognised when I executed the interface, so it didn't work! The date value in the XML file is in DD/MM/YYYY format.
    I'm guessing that Oracle SQL Date functions don't work in the Implementation tab. Please could somebody let me know:
    1. Which Date Conversion function I could use instead?
    2. Where I can find a reference for the methods/functions I can use in the Implementation tab (if such a reference exists)?
    Cheers.
    James

    Hi.
    Try to change the execution area to staging area. After You change it, write in the mapping box just SRC_TRADERS.DEAL_DATE. When You use TO_DATE, the source field typu should be varchar2, not date (as it is in your source datastore)

  • Error when inserting xml with xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation

    Hello,
    Hopefully this isn't a stupid question....
    I am currently using Oracle 9.2.0.6.0 to try out XML.
    I haven't been able to get our DBAs to set up XML DB in its entirety so I just have the basics, i.e. I have access to the xmltype object but none of the packages like DBMS_SCHEMA and DBMS_XDB. Therefore, I haven't been able to register any schemas in the database.
    So what I'd like to know is why do I get an ORA-21700 error when I try to load an xml document which has the 'xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation' attribute'. If I take this out of the XML document, it loads.
    From my initial reading, I got the impression that registering a schema in order to validate documents was an optional, although probably an ideal, step to take.
    So another way of phrasing this subject might be: can one insert xml documents without the use of a schema?
    The example code is shown below.
    dbase> INSERT INTO MY_TABLE( id , message_type , status , rcvd_time, filename , xmlcol)
    2 VALUES ( 1, 0 , 'RECEIVED', sysdate , 'tempfilename' ,

    9 </ExampleXML>')
    10* )
    dbase> /
    1 row created.
    The xmlcol column was created simply as an xmltype column.

    Basically using XMLType without XML DB is almost impossible in 9.2.x. Please have the DBA's install XML DB by running the script $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catqm.sql. They can follow the installing XDB instuctions in the XML DB Developer's guide.
    What is actually happening here is that the PARSER is hard wired to always check is a document that contains an noNamespaceSchemaLocation or schemaLocation tag is associated with an XML Schema that has been registered with Oracle XML DB. If is is, special action is takem, if it isn't then no special action is taken. Unfortunately for various arcane technical reasons if the the XDB repository is not present the check fails totally. Even if we fixed this bug, which has been marked not feasible to fix in the past, there are many other issues with the inbuilt XML technology having dependancies on the presence of the XML DB repository and XDB database user.
    So the net/net is don't use XMLType or any XML related features in 9.2.x or later unless XML DB is installed. It is extremenly likely at this point in time that XML DB will become a mandatory component of the next release of the database. At that point you will no longer have an option. It will be automatically installed when a database is created or updated and there will be no way of un-installing it.

  • SQL API. Database corrupted when inserting data?

    Hi, I have a working sqlite application I was going to migrate to BerkeleyDB to try and solve some locking issues. However I am having some trouble creating the database.
    I downloaded the windows pre-built binaries and created my schema with dbsql.exe. The DDL worked fine and running db_verify reported no errors. However after I inserted about twenty rows of data using a SQL script of INSERT commands db_verify reported about ten "out-of-order key" messages. There are no INSERT triggers in the DDL. I tried running the INSERTs as single commands, and the out-of-order key messages appeared after about ten rows of data. A bit of googling only revealed that these errors often occur when using tools linked to different BerkelyDB versions. I have never had any version of BerkeleyDB installed before.
    I then downloaded the BerkeleyDB source and built the binaries myself. I again created the schema - no problems, inserted about twenty rows - errors the same as before. When running db_recover the error messages are as below:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\Berkeley DB 11gR2 5.1.25\bin\SFTPVT.BDB-journal>..\db_recover.exe
    db_recover.exe: Ignoring log file: log.0000000001: magic number 1563f1a3, not 40988
    db_recover.exe: Invalid log file: log.0000000001: Invalid argument
    db_recover.exe: PANIC: Invalid argument
    db_recover.exe: process-private: unable to find environment
    db_recover.exe: DB_ENV->open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
    I thought the issues might be because I use encrypted database but the same things happen whether I use PRAGMA key="****************" in my scripts or not. I haven't played with DB_CONFIG - should I be creating a DB_CONFIG yet?
    I'm using Win 7 pro (x64), i5 processor with 8GB RAM, disks are a RAID10 array formatted as NTFS. Same errors occur if I try to create the database on a FAT32 USB key so it's probably not a filesystem problem. I used Visual Studio 10 and MSVCRT version 10 when building binaries myself. I notice the downloaded binaries were built against MVCRT version 8, so the problem doesn't look tied to the version of the VC runtime as it occurs on multiple versions.
    Can anybody help please? I would like to try BerkeleyDB but can't get past the first hurdle.

    Hello,
    If you can provide a small stand-alone program to reproduce the problem along with the steps to reproduce it, I will give it a try.

  • Data Corrupted when using CREATE AS SELECT * FROM over DB LINK

    Hi ,
    I wonder if anyone has suffered a simillar issue as this:
    I have a DB Link Between a 10gR1 (Base install not patched) database on Windows 2003, and a 10gR2 (with latest Patch Database ) on Sun Solaris. The 10.1 DB is the SOURCE 10.2 is TARGET
    When using a statement like the following on the Target :
    CREATE TABLE a AS SELECT * FROM TABLE a@SOURCE
    The statement completes, however for some (not all) tables, the data content is seriously corrupted, I noticed this when trying to apply a UKey on the newly created table in TARGET. The data was completely messed up for around 600 out of 450000 rows, I could not easily tell which rows were messed up as it was the columns that build the UKey that were affected :-(
    The same happens if I precreate the table and use INSERT /*+APPEND*/ INTO AS SELECT.... etc
    I realise that using an unpatched 10.1 is not nessasarily advisable, however currently it is difficult for us to patch or upgrade the DB...
    If anyone has seen this before an/or has any ideas what might be the cause , I would appreciate any help I can get.
    Cheers

    The Problem Manifest itsself in that some fileds are created with incorrect Values, specificaly in easy to identify cases NULL where the original values where not NULL.
    These field do not contain special chars like ä or ß , so it does not seem to indicate a charset issue.

    This is a feature of HTML. Its the way it is supposed to work.
    If you view source on your generated jsp page, you should see the html exactly mirrors what you typed in the text area
    If you don't want it acting this way then either
    1 - put it in a text area again
    2 - put <pre> tags around what you want do display unformatted
    or
    3 - Change all new lines to <br> in the html
    This is what you want in the html:
    <pre>
    Mulitple
      line
    Data
    </pre>

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Actually it all started with this error while runnning the code in Jdeveloper
    SimpleBulkLoader.doBulkLoad- The system cannot find the path specified. IO:FileNotFound Exception
    Then while debugging I thought its giving error because of writer.close( ); in one of the writeToClob API in BaseApplication.java. So I commented it and then started getting this error which I originally posted
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
    ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
    LPX-00229: input source is empty
    Error at line 0
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 0
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    But now after I uncommented writer.close() and debugged the application again in JDeveloper, I see it reads the xml and keeps it in buffer properly but in the end it throws SQLException "No more data to read from socket" and in turn throws "The system cannot find the path specified. IO:FileNotFound Exception"
    I have no idea what's going on ??
    Thanks

    All is well now, however. All the issues have gone away in one fell swoop.

  • How to insert the Formatted date value and insert into the database

    Hi All,
    I am having requirement of inserting the date value in to the datbase. I'm already getting the value from file as MM-DD-YYYY. Getting exception while transforming the values through the transform activity. I'm using format fate function but it is inserting null value in to the database.
    Any help from anyone would bve appreciated.
    Thanks,
    CH

    Hi,
    your input date format is fixed right? So, in the transform you can split each your date, which is in 'MM-DD-YYYY' format ... extract day, month, year.
    After that ... just put these values in order acording to the format of 'xsd:date' data type which is '[-]CCYY-MM-DDZ'.
    XPath function 'xp20:format-dateTime()' works only with 'xsd:dateTime' data type, which has format '[-]CCYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ssZ'.
    So, in your case it could be:
    <xsl:variable name="day" select="substring($inputDate,4,2)"/>
    <xsl:variable name="month" select="substring($inputDate,1,2)"/>
    <xsl:variable name="day" select="substring($inputDate,7,4)"/>
    <xsl:variable name="outputDate">
    <xsl:value-of select="$year"/>
    <xsl:text>-</xsl:text>
    <xsl:value-of select="$month"/>
    <xsl:text>-</xsl:text>
    <xsl:value-of select="$day"/>
    </xsl:variable>

    The datastores have valid records but when we try to write them in the XML file it didn't work.
    ¿Can somebody help us?

    Thanks, let me give you an update:
    The datatype of the element is defined as follows:
              <xs:element name="AcctNo" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1">
                   <xs:simpleType>
                        <xs:restriction base="xs:string">
                             <xs:maxLength value="60"></xs:maxLength>
                        </xs:restriction>
                   </xs:simpleType>
              </xs:element>
    The ODI reverse ingeneering has created the column as VARCHAR(255). I think this ok, because XML driver doesn't takes in account the xsd element defined length.
    We have checked the XSD and is valid.
    In the other hand, I must say that we have created an interface that is loading data into the corresponding datastore without any problem but we couldn't generate an XML file from it.
    Any other advice?

  • Incorrect data value when insert into oracle table

    Would like to ask expert here, how could I insert data into oracle table where the value is 03 ? The case is like that,  the column was defined as varchar2(50) data type, and I have a csv file where the value is 03 but when load into oracle table the value become 3 instead of 03.

    implicit datatype conversion to NUMBER can result in leading zero to be eliminated.
    How do I ask a question on the forums?

  • Problem when inserting xml flow into jspx page

    When I drag and drop the xml into the jspx I should get a pop up menu where I would choose region (Im following a tutorial) but I get nothing. I drag and drop and It just opens it in the design editor.
    I would appreciate any help you guys could give

    OK, let cover the basics first:
    JDev version?
    I assume you are on 11.1.1.2.0 or 11.1.1.3.0:
    You created a new task flow (right click on the 'Web content'->new->'ADF Task FLow'
    the check box 'Createas Bounden Task flow was set and the check box for 'Create with Page Fragments' was set
    The filename was something like 'search-email-flow.xml'
    This should create a new bounden task flow with the name of search-email-flow (which creates a xml file with the same name).
    Then you put one view to the flow. After creating the page fragment (the file created should have the jsff file type) you saved all work.
    The you open up an existing jspx file and drag the new flow from the 'Page Flows' folder under 'Web content' onto the design view of the jspx file.
    after dropping the flow you should then see the 'Create' dialog. e careful, you can't drop the flow everywhere on the page. You should drop in into a panel group or some other container. If you drop it i.e. onto a table you see the effect you described: it's opening the flow!
