Hi,
running SQL*Loader (Release 8.1.7.2.1) causes an error "SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: Maximum record length must be <= [10000000]". This error occurs when SQLLoader is trying to load several thousand records into a database table. Each record is less than 250 bytes in length.
Any idea what could cause the problem?
Thanks in advance!

SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: Maximum record length must be <= [10000000]As a second guess, the terminator changes or goes missing at some point in the data file. If you are running on *NIX, try wc -l data_file_name. This will give a count of the number of lines (delimited by CHR(10) ) that are in the file. If this is not close to the number you expected, then that is your problem.
You could also try gradually working through the data file loading 100 records, then 200, then 300 etc. to see where it starts to fail.

How to load unicode data files with fixed records lengths?
Hi!
To load unicode data files with fixed records lengths (in terms of charachters and not of bytes!) using SQL*Loader manually, I found two ways:
Alternative 1: one record per row
SQL*Loader control file example (without POSITION, since POSITION always refers to bytes!)<br>
LOAD DATA
CHARACTERSET UTF8
LENGTH SEMANTICS CHAR
INFILE unicode.dat
INTO TABLE STG_UNICODE
TRUNCATE
A CHAR(2) ,
B CHAR(6) ,
C CHAR(2) ,
D CHAR(1) ,
E CHAR(4)
) Datafile:
001111112234444
01NormalDExZWEI
02ÄÜÖßêÊûÛxöööö
03ÄÜÖßêÊûÛxöööö
04üüüüüüÖÄxµôÔµ Alternative2: variable length records
LOAD DATA
CHARACTERSET UTF8
LENGTH SEMANTICS CHAR
INFILE unicode_var.dat "VAR 4"
INTO TABLE STG_UNICODE
TRUNCATE
A CHAR(2) ,
B CHAR(6) ,
C CHAR(2) ,
D CHAR(1) ,
E CHAR(4)
) Datafile:
001501NormalDExZWEI002702ÄÜÖßêÊûÛxöööö002604üuüüüüÖÄxµôÔµ Problems
Implementing these two alternatives in OWB, I encounter the following problems:
* How to specify LENGTH SEMANTICS CHAR?
* How to suppress the POSITION definition?
* How to define a flat file with variable length and how to specify the number of bytes containing the length definition?
Or is there another way that can be implemented using OWB?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Carsten.Hi Carsten
If you need to support the LENGTH SEMANTICS CHAR clause in an external table then one option is to use the unbound external table and capture the access parameters manually. To create an unbound external table you can skip the selection of a base file in the external table wizard. Then when the external table is edited you will get an Access Parameters tab where you can define the parameters. In 11gR2 the File to Oracle external table can also add this clause via an option.

'Input data length not a multiple of blocksize' error in CUP
Hello All
I receive the error below when trying to configure CUP. I got this error whilst trying to define the password for the RFC user created in the Connector screen in CUP. CUP doesn't accept the SAP password maintained in SU01. CUP only allows a 4 character password but SU01 is configured to only accept 8 characters. Full error message below.
'com.virsa.ae.commons.utils.StringEncrypter$EncryptionException: Input data length not a multiple of blocksize.'
Can anyone shed any light on this?Hi All,
This issue is in Version 5.3 SP 7.1 of CUP. It occurs when we are trying to change the password for the CUP connector.
Please note that testing the connectors within the Content Administrator --> Maintain JCO Connections screens works fine and the risk analysis from RAR also works without issue. However, whenever we attempt to enter the password for CUP connecotr setup, it returns an error saying "Action Failed" with the 'Input data length not a multiple of blocksize' error showing in the trace logs.
We seem to be able to store a password of 4 characters e.g. 1234 but this then naturally fails the connection test.
Can anyone suggest a parameter setting to check or a resolution for this particular issue?
Thanks,

Bcp doesnt throw an error when the data length exceeds size of the column
Hi,
We are using bcp in SQL 2008 R2 to import the data from flat file. When the data length exceeds the size of the column, it doesn't throw any error instead it has ignored the row.
Please suggest me how to truncate and load the data into table.
Thanks,
PashaHi Pasha,
According to your description, you want to import the data from flat file to SQL Server table with truncated data in SQL Server 2008 R2. To achieve your requirement, we can use Import and Export wizard. For more details, please refer to the following steps:
Launch SSMS by clicking SQL Server Management Studio from the Microsoft SQL Server program group.
Right click on the destination database in the Object Explorer, select Tasks, then Import Data from the context menu to launch the Import Wizard.
Choose Flat File Source as Data Source, then browser to the flat file.
Choose SQL Server Native Client 10.0 as Destination, then select the destination database.
Click Edit Mappings button to change column size or other properties.

Do Data Found Error on Inserting a Record
I am working in Apex 4.0.
I'm getting this error when I click the "Create" button to insert a record.
ORA-01403: no data found
Error Unable to fetch row.
Since I'm inserting rather than fetching, why would I get this error? What do I need to do to suppress it?Arie, thanks for the response. I suspected the automatic Row Processing might be the problem. But I did not (and still don't) know how to fix it.
Here's what's happening. The page involved is part of an insurance tracking system. At the time of annual renewal of a policy, we create a new record for the next year. This is done by including in the new record all usuable data fields from the old expiring record. I use a button to navigate to the current page (page 22 to page 22) and set values (from the old page 22) of items in the new page 22. The user then makes a couple of manual entries and then clicks the "Create" button which appears on the new page 22 since the primary key is null. The new record is then correctly inserted into the table, and the system branches back to a calling page. It is at this time that the error occurs.
ORA-01403: no data found
Error Unable to fetch row.
A database trigger gets the new primary key from a sequence generator and puts it into the record on insert. Here's the SQL on the trigger:
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER "UCC_AUTO_SEQ"
BEFORE
insert on "UCC"
for each row
begin
select ucc_seq.nextval
into :new.uccseq
from dual;
end;
May be that I can fix this if you will explain to me what you mean by this: "My guess is that your page includes an ARF process and you didn’t set the return key item, or you didn’t use the RETURNING clause, so the ARF process can’t fetch the newly inserted record." Forgive my ignorance, but I do not know what a "RETURNING clause" is. I checked out the Source: Automatic Row Processing (DML) and found that the item labeled "Return Key Into Item" was blank. I put "P22_INSURESEQ" (the primary key item) into this field, but the error is still being thrown. The "Action Processed" message always appears in its own window just above the error message. -
Homework 3-4 Error finding record data
Hi,
I was stumped for a bit trying to access the data stored in the record store. RecordStore.getNumRecords() returns the correct number of stored records, 5, but when the code loops and tried RecordStore.getRecord(index), I got a RecordStoreException with the message "Error finding record data"
The trouble was that I didn't read the documentation or look at the example closely enough to see that the store's recordId is a 1 based number, so 1..<=count, not 0..<count. Either that or use the RecordEnumeration and hasNextElement/nextRecord.I already made some tests connected with SUPERVISOR. Nothing changed.
Finally, I removed ODI from this host and made a completely new installation and it works now. But don't ask me why !

How to Compare Data length of staging table with base table definition
Hi,
I've two tables :staging table and base table.
I'm getting data from flatfiles into staging table, as per requirement structure of staging table and base table(length of each and every column in staging table is 25% more to dump data without any errors) are different for ex :if we've city column with varchar length 40 in staging table it has 25 in base table.Once data is dumped into staging table I want to compare actual data length of each and every column in staging table with definition of base table(data_length for each and every column from all_tab_columns) and if any column differs length I need to update the corresponding row in staging table which also has a flag called err_length.
so for this I'm using cursor c1 is select length(a.id),length(a.name)... from staging_table;
cursor c2(name varchar2) is select data_length from all_tab_columns where table_name='BASE_TABLE' and column_name=name;
But we're getting data atonce in first query whereas in second cursor I need to get each and every column and then compare with first ?
Can anyone tell me how to get desired results?
Thanks,

This assumes the column names are the same between the staging and base tables. In addition as you add more columns to this table you'll have to add more CASE statements to check the length and update the COALESCE check as necessary.

Edited by: Prasad B on Oct 22, 2008 7:42 PMThanks alot Dan and Eugene.
I was following Eugene Blog for flexible update master data.I have create the way you have specififed in the document.
I have created Method to upload Profit center and try to load the data where i am getting error.
I am loading attributes, but not hierachy.I am not understanding why i am not able to load flat file profit center master data into BCS.
The error is "
7 of 7 data rows were ignored
Message no. UCF7017
Diagnosis
A total of 7 data records were read from file C:\Documents and
Settings\Laxmikant.dube\Desktop\P. Of those, 7 records contain parameter
settings that exceed the user limitations for executing the data
collection task.
System response
The ignored records were not checked any further and will not be
written.
Procedure
Make sure that the ignored records are irrelevant for the current task.
If some of the ignored records were supposed to be written, then the
file probably contains an error.
In this case, closely examine the settings for the fields Version,
Fiscal Year, Period, Group Currency, and Consolidation Units in the
file.
If you have more than one characteristic with the role consolidation
unit (a socalled "matrix organization"), also check whether the settings
in the ignored records refer to valid combinations of consolidation
units.
Character string "2000,2008,8" is cut off after 4 characters
Message no. UCF7003
Diagnosis
The current data row contains for characteristic Controlling area the
value 2000,2008,8. But the maximum length for values of this
characteristic is only 4 characters.
System response
The character string "2000,2008,8" is cut off after 4 characters.
Procedure
Check if the string "2000,2008,8" is indeed supposed to be interpreted
as the value of characteristic Controlling area. If this is the case,
avoid exceeding the maximum length for this characteristic.
However, if there has been a mix-up, compare the structure of the file
with the definition in the upload method. If variable column widths are
used, particularly pay attention to the number of field separators in
the data row involved.
Please advise me on this.It would be great help -
Bit stumped; data overflow error with DATETIME vs DATE or DATETIME2
I find myself in a slightly perplexing situation. In trying to replicate data to a SQLServer 2008 database I have no problems doing so for a date column on the Oracle side to either a DATE or DATETIME2 datatype on the SQLServer side. However, upon trying a DATETIME column I'm given the errors below. Essentially a -2147217887 but Goldengate marks it as a data overflow error. The thing is, a datetime2 is more like a TIMESTAMP column in Oracle and the DATETIME is essentially a DATE. Why it would work with a DATE (less precise) or DATETIME2 (more precise) yet not a DATETIME (same precision) is a bit of a head scratcher. The same defs file is used for each of the options.
Before anyone suggests using either destination datatype that works, I've no choice; it has to be a DATETIME column. The customer is always right, even when they are infuriatingly wrong.
Anyone seen this before or have any suggestions?
Thanks very much in advance!!
Cheers,
Chris

Length error occured in IMPORT statement
Hello everyone,
i hv one requirment in PO print(ME23N). in po print asset no nt display without changing other format.
so that i first copy both smartform and driver program, in that i made certain changes such that i declare the patameter p_ebeln and i comment to data statement of p_ebeln & p_ebeln = nest-objky.
then i join asset no (anek-anln1) with the help of inner join. then in smartform i gave condition that if bsart = 'ZCAP'
wa_final-anln1 = gv_anln1.
endif.
i import gv_anln1 in smartform and exported in deriver program.
both are synthetically currect but when i gave print preview dump is occured.
length error occured in IMPORT statement
Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_IMPORT_MISMATCH_ERROR', was
not caught in
procedure "%GLOBAL_INIT" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
During import the system discovered that the target object has
a different length than the object to be imported.
what i do?Hello,
can u send me coding for that?
program line is already created for that
and their first coding is like that,
if gv_bsart = 'ZCAP'.
wa_final-matnr = space.
endif.
and in text they fetch matnr no.
but as per requirement they want asset no when bsart = 'ZCAP'
how that asset no will come.
matnr comes there is bsart is other that ZCAP, but bsart = ZCAP they want asset no instead of matnr. -
Length error occurred in IMPORT statement.
Hi All,
while exexuting a program i got dump saying that Length error occurred in IMPORT statement. through ST22 i came to know that both import and export structres are not same. Import structure is longer than the export structure.
I tried in SDN but i coudnt find any solution. can you please suggest how to solve this.
Thanks in advance,
Sreekala.Hi,
Maybe what you can do si....
Program X
data: v_var(20) type c.
export v_var.
Program Y
data: v_var(20) type c,
v_var2(50) type c.
import v_var.
v_var2 = v_var.
Create a variable that is exactly the same with the exporting parameter, then just assign it to a local variable declared in the 2nd program.
Hope this helps.
Benedict
