Data Migration- Infotypes BDC Recording

Hi All,
Iam currently working on data migration project.
Before i joined here, they developed the upload programes,by using Function modules. But when we are doing that,we are able to see in Over veiw,But when we go to change mode, nothing is there on screen. Then we tried Using BDC Recording for IT0105.Then working perfectly.
So i need a help,if any one of you any idea on list of the Infotypes which need BDC Recording.
I need the List of infotypes,so that i make sure,we use BDC .
Its on priority,Pls have some inputs.
Thanks,
Anitha

Hey Anitha,
BDC and LSMW are both data loading techniques.
In both cases you will need input files in a specific format so that these are read by your BDC or LSMW program
The main difference is
Using BDC you can validate the data in the system. Suppose you want to check if an employee is active before loading the data then BDC is advisable because you can check the employment status of the employee and then upload data or else give a message that employee is terminated and data loading has been skipped
If there is a straight forward upload without any validation then go for LSMW
Finally it depends on your requirements
Cheers
Ajay
As stated above IT 0008 has to be filled using table control hence BDC is helpful

  • Data Migration Infotype load sequence

    Hi All,
I am migrating data from our legacy system to SAP HR infotypes and would like to know what the sequence / dependencies are.  There are two of us doing the work and I was hoping we could load some of them simultaneously but I realise there are dependencies between some of them.  I am doing the following infotypes:
    Initial Conversion
    Current Conversion
    Infotype 0006
    Infotype 0007
Infotype 0008 (0007 needs to be complete)
    Infotype 0009
    Infotype 0014
    Infotype 0015
    Infotype 0016
    Infotype 0019
    Infotype 0021
    Infotype 0025
    Infotype 0032
    Infotype 0040
    Infotype 0041
    Infotype 0045
    Infotype 0071
    Infotype 0077
    Infotype 0088
    Infotype 0105
    Infotype 0171
Infotype 0167 (0171 needs to be complete)
    Infotype 0442
    Infotype 2006
Infotype 2001 (2006 needs to be complete for holidays)
    Infotype 9000
And a colleague is doing these:
    Infotype 1000
    Infotype 1001
    Infotype 1005
    Infotype 1007
    Infotype 1008
    Infotype 1013
    Infotype 1050
I am told that my colleagues infotypes (1000 to 1050) all need to be migrated before I can start my infotypes (top list).
    Is this true?
Or can I start loading after she has completed 1000?
Is there a Best Practice sequence list somewhere on the net?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Neal.

    Neal,
Have you tried looking for cookbooks on the sap site. They may tell.
However, the basic principal is you will be building your organisation structure (IT 1000) so that when you add the employees you can assign them to the org structure. So yes after you have added your IT 1000 records( org units, positions etc.) you can add the employees. If you aren't assigning your employees into the org structure at load time then you would not need to wait. I have worked on a project where employees where loaded to a dummy org unit , as the structure was not defined by the time employee data needed to be loaded.
    Hope that helps,
    Gary

  • Data migration for PO Release startegy,PO cnditions

    Hi All,
is it possible to data migartion for PO release strategy, PO Conditions(pricing), PO History ?
If yes, please advice how i can achive this.
    Thanks

    PO Release strategy
You can not do the Migration of release strategy. You need to configure separately. It is better to follow the SAP notes to avoid inconsistancy.
For transportation of release strategy from one client to another client please follow the SAP notes
    SAP Note 86900 & 45951
    PO Conditions
You can do the data migration of condition records by using LSMW or BDC program. Please explain your requirement clearly
    PO History
Do you want to migrate all the GR & IR? What is your requirment? Are you migrating Legacy to SAP.
Only open POs can be migrated.
    Explain your requirement in detail.

  • E-Recruiting 6.0 SP11 - How to do data migration or batch creation

    Hi Experts,
For R/3, we can use BDC programs to do data migration for personnel records.
For E-Recruiting, how do we go about migration of candidate records or batch creation of candidate records (eg, BDC, standard function module, direct append)?
If it is via function module, can you share with me the name of the function module?
    Thanks,
    William

    Hello William,
the Business Partner is an application / module which belongs to the base components of the SAP. It is used and partly extended by various other applications / modules. Next to E-Recruiting it is used for example by CRM and the financial service solution (FS-CS, FS-PM, FS-RI). All of these modules can put their data for a person or an organization into the same tables. Depending on the installation / system environment or even within one single module the requirements for available fields and business checks as on authorization differ between kinds of business partners (e.g. in FS-CS the commission solution for the financial service sector knows external agents and internal employees which have to be treated differently). The business partner is the element to assign the logical / business role in which a person is handled by the system.
For E-Recruiting you have 2 kinds of business partners, too. On the one and there are people being candidates and on the other hand there are branches of your company which hire people. The configuration allows you to seperate them if you need to identify anywhen which business partner is a branch and which is a candidate. So far I never tried if this is really working as there is no real use for this I never set it up. The attributes and the business checks are the same anyways.
Hope that helps a bit to understand the context
    Best Regards
    Roman Weise
PS: please remember that you have to maintain the branches via administrator bsp application. Using the IMG entry won't work.

  • How to work on BDC for data migration

    Hi,
Can anybody please guide me on how we use bdc for data migration.
My abaper has prepared the bdc program for some IT.
I need to know the step by step procedure to upload the data using BDC programs.
    Thanks

    Hi,
If BDC is lareday in place for the infotype. Go to SE38 run the BDC select the source file Excel file ( Note: all the fields in source file should be same as per BDC).
Run the BDC program -select the source file- provide name starting from Z- Go to SM35
You will get your z file here..process the file the data will get uploaded to that certain infotype.
Note: if filed mismatch in Excel file and the fields which has been taken by ABAP at the time of BDC recording it will give you error, if you are running it in foreground in background processing data will be not upload.
If BDC is not in place try SCAT/ LSMW for data uploading.
Hope its clear ,if not please revert back.
    Cheers,
    Nutan

  • How To upload a infotype via BDC recording

    Hi ,
I am looking to do a BDC recording to upload a infotype which is 105 for communications My office head quarters are moving so they are changing the first 6 digits of the tlefone numbers but the extensions will remain the same so how is this possible .
    regards

A better approach to BDC would be to use a BAPI function module, for example BAPI_EMPLCOMM_CHANGE to change the current data. Make sure you specify the correct Subtype for the telephone number communication. Pass the new telephone number in the COMMUNICATIONID importing interface parameter.
Make sure you lock (BAPI_EMPLOYEE_ENQUEUE) the employee before calling the BAPI and unlock afterwards (BAPI_EMPLOYEE_DEQUEUE).
    Hope this helps.

  • Data migration on purchasing info record

    Hi Gurus,
Where can I find some detail information about how to use program RM06IBI0 via LSMW to carry out data migration on purchasing info record?
Thanks in advance for your help!

if you know how to use LSMW, then it does not really matter whether you prepare for loading info records or material masters or any other data.
this forum has many many threads that have links to LSMW documentation. Search for it if you need explanation on LSMW.
If you have specific questions to the info record load, then let me know

  • Unable to Determine the Change Date and Time for records in infotype 2011

    Hi Everyone,
We need to know on when the clock-in and clock-out records were interfaced to SAP in infotype 2011.
The change date/time field in infotype 2011 is blank/not populated. Hence, we're unable to determine on when the clock-in records were updated in infotype 2011.
It is not possible to get the audit logs for infotype 2011 as it is switched off.
We found this table TEVEN and just the same thing, the field "change on" is blank.
Kindly help us on how we can determine the change date and time for records in infotype 2011.

    Hi Prasad,
    Here's the scenario.
On June 3, it was reported that staff's clock-in record on june 1, 7:00AM is missing in infotype 2011.
However, when I checked infotype 2011, the record is there.
So, they are now asking me on when this record was updated in infotype 2011 as they are thinking that there might be some delays in sending of the data to SAP.
The created on and created at in table TEVEN shows the same, june 1, 7:00AM which seems to be not true as on june 3, it was reported to be missing.
Can you help further on this?

  • How to data send to bdc without recording?

    hi
how to data send to bdc without recording?
      plz step by  step
    thanks

    Sudha,
This is the CRM forum, so you need to post your answer on the ABAP general forum to get a better response.  Also the CRM system is not designed for BDC and in general BDC should be avoided at all costs.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • Org Management Data Migration

    Hello everyone !!
I am currently working of org data migration from legacy to SAP and using LSMW Recording for Infotype 1000, 1001, 1002 .....
when I came across info type 1001 were I was creating Relations using recording i can easily do whole recording with out any problem, and then I saved this recording and provided source and structure fields.
Problem I encountered at P1001-SCLAS in second screen of tcode PP02. where I have to enter " Type of related object ". its a list of selections where I have to pick one from a list, the value i pick here is description of what I upload from a text file. for eg: if I read the value of  SCLAS : k or s, or c or o. then similarly I have to pick a description.
k = cost center, s = positions, c =  jobs and o =  org unit. depending of subtype I select a list of description is populated.
In P1001-SCLAS which is in the second screen of PP02. here comes the problem, this field is of only 2 character but on the screen I have to select a description which is obviously greater than 2 character.
When I read file and convert data the converted data has only values picked from the file but not description.
Here is what I needed. How do I convert a 2 char field to a 12 or 15 character field in target table and how to select a single description from a list of descriptions.
Note: DTT is ruled out here. No chance of using DTT. But still you can add comments on DTT.
      Thanks for any help.

I am using tcode PP02 and then entering values for
    Plan Version,
    Object Type,
    Object ID,
    Infotype,
    Subtype,
    Planning status, and
    Validity.
Once I hit create icon "Create Relationships" screen comes up here I have to enter Type of related object, which I can select from a drop down list. This field is P1001-SCLAS. Which is of 2 characters, but when I see a drop down list its a description which is more than 2 characters. How can I populate values in this field using BDC  or Recording. the value I am reading from a file for this field is k or s ... but same field has a drop down list with descriptions but not k or s...., its kind of hard for me to imagin how this field can be populated. When I run a session in SM35  I am getting an error in BDC session as " No batch input data for screen MP100100 2000 ".When I look Converted data in LSMW its k or s ... but not description this is obvious.
      Thanks.

  • Download data from infotypes

    Hi,
My client wants me to download all the data in infotypes(std and custom) from production client. Then they will migrate this data to their new system. What would be the approach for downloading?
    1. Through SE16N (we are not authorized to use SE11/SE16)? But couldnt save the data to local file when we use se16n.
even i get se11 authorization -> we can download only 64,000 records in excel. Do i need to split? or any other way?
    2. Write custom progms to download data from infotypes.
    3. Any data migration tools ?
    4. Basis can do client copy?
    Thanks!

U can write a report to donwload data, but my preferde way is to use the hr toolbox (Transaction PU12), it's very simple to use .

  • SAP Master data migration tools

    Hi,
I would like to know if any SAP standard tools which are available for all master data migration,Kindly share the same which is required for us now.
We have to migrate the data from legacy systems to SAP and we have to use only SAP Standard master data migration tools.
    Kindly share the same.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Raveendra

    Raveendra,
SAP migrates data from legacy system using standard tools like LSMW, BDC, BAPI. Under LSMW you will have Batch input, Batch recording, BAPI and IDOCs options. Depending upon requirement you can choose any one of them. BAPI is advisable instead of BDC method.
Also for utilities industry SAP has provided ISU Migration tool (EMIGALL).
