Data Overage 4G LTE 890L Hotspot and low bars

I have been experiencing Data Overage on my 890L but have not changed the way I have been using my computer. I am also only pulling 2 bars now on 4G. I have talked to Verizon and they are telling me that there is nothing wrong on Verizons end and that I am just using the data. I have seen where some people have changed the Sims card and it has helped but Verizon have told me that this would not solve any of my problems. Any suggestions. I am getting nowhere with Verizon. Thanks Richard

YES, it can be hacked! Rather than removing the battery and changing Max Connections, simply strengthen wireless security.
1) Power down and remove the SIM card
2) Power up, reset the device and wait a minute or two
3) Power down, reinstall the SIM card, and power up the device
4) Login to the Device’s user interface: example http://192.168.1.1 YMMV
5) Change the default SSID to something that does not identify you or the device
6) Change the default PSK to one with high entropy
PSK is Pre-Shared Key (the correct name for what Verizon calls Wi-Fi password)
Low entropy = Less than 32 characters
High entropy = 32 to 63 random printable characters
Select WPA2-PSK Personal AES
Do NOT select WPA/WPA2 Mixed mode
Avoid MAC filtering
Do broadcast the SSID
You can get a high entropy 63 random printable character PSK from https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm Copy and Paste the key to a text file and move the key between computers with a USB stick. Copy and Paste it to the wireless applet when prompted. For more generalized information, Google how do I secure my wireless network.

  • URL Bar and "Lower" Bar Question

Good evening. I am a recent convert from PC to Mac. On my PC I used Foxfire. I am now trying Safari on my new iMac. I have 2 questions regarding Safari . . .
    1) On Foxfire and IE, there is a drop down arrow button on the URL box. Does that make sense? Its a way to drop down all of the URL's I have typed. Does this exist in Safari? I see it drop down if I begin to type a URL, but no way to just point and click.
    2) On browsers I used on the PC, there was a bar at the bottom of the browser window that displayed information. For instance, if my mouse was over a link, it would appear in the bar. As I am looking at Safari now, there is no such bar. Is that correct or is there a way to make one appear?
    Forgive me if these questions seem dumb. I am a n00b . . .
    Anyway, thanks in advance!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Safari 2.0.3

Well there is a way to see what sites you have visted other than reviewing your history. And that is, you will notice to the left of your URL: box, you will see the stop, refresh and the back and forward buttons of your browser.
Well i fyou put the mouse on the back button and hold it down you will see all the past sites you have visited. I think what im explaining to you is very simliar to this "drop down" box that you are talking about in your post.
I dont know if that helps you, or if im missing the point , but i hope you can use it to your advantage.
    Peace

  • Is anyone else have data overages with their new phone, even with the LTE being shut off

I have upgraded to the iphone 5s about 3-4 months ago, and my data usuage has gone up and over within 2 weeks of the billing cycle. with my old iphone it never went over the 4g limit, and that was with nike + and pandora running apps loaded [im a runner and have done this with 3 half marathons in one month plus additional miles]. i am now afraid to even use pandora for an hour on my phone. I have turned off as many things as possible to lighten up the data usage, ie LTE is off, and so is a lot of location servces and background app refresh. i still cant figure out why im reaching my max data usuage so quickly when i am using it 80% less than i use to.
is anyone else having similar issues and has anyone found a solution to this?
i have also done a factory reset on my iphone to see if it helps at all - since, that is apples answer to everything.

I've seen this, as well, on an iPhone 4s.  Eventually the high-data-usage went away, seemingly on it's own (and after calling AT&T a couple of times to get the overage removed from my bill).
Having said that, one thing to check is to turn "Documents & Data" off...  Settings>iCloud>Documents & Data.  I'm thinking this can push and pull a lot of data to/from iCloud very quickly.  Photos under iCloud might do the same...
    Hope this helps...

  • 4G LTE 890L Jetpack activation issues (West Georgia area)

June 1, 2012 I ordered online my 4G LTE 890L jetpack and added a line to my account.  Nearing the end of August now my jetpack is still not activated.  I have had 2 new devices sent to me and a total of 4 SIM cards.  Friday, at the request of tech support, I drove 45 minutes to our nearest Verizon direct store for them to try and activate the device.  I have spent a total of over 12 hours on the phone during this time since June trying to troubleshoot the device and find out why it will not complete the activation process.  When I went in the store and tech support tried to help me I was told that the 4G service was currently down but I could come back anytime and they would try and take care of the problem.  Is there anyone else that has had this problem??  I have been told conflicting things by different Verizon employees.  I am at a loss for what to do other than keep spending no shorter than 1 1/2 hours on the phone at a time to try and find out what is happening.  I am scheduled again for Monday for the tech support lady that has been helping me since June to call and try again.  I am however finding that I seem to be aware of things or figure them out before Verizon on this issue, which is a little disturbing considering I am just a housewife.  I am not speaking ill of Verizon in this post, I just am looking for anyone that can please please tell me what to do with this device to complete the activation process.  I don't know how many more phone calls and taking my SIM card out and putting it back in I can take before I loose my patience.

Regarding the 4G coverage, I would check out the coverage map to see if you are in a supported area:
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/support/coverage-locator
Activating a Jetpack should not be a difficult procedure.  Anyone from VZW should be qualified to complete this standard operation for you in a few minutes and confirm it too.  Activation does not require 4G anyways, you can do everything you need from a 3G only territory.
If I had to guess your current Jetpack is defective.  If the next person you work with is unable to correct the problem for you I would request that they send you a different device, one that they know does work with a good SIM card.  You should be able to pop your SIM card out and plug it into a similar device too unless it is the SIM card that is bad.
Keep us posted and let us know if you need more help.

  • Top and bottom bars

Hello... im learning flash and i'd like to know how can i
make upper and lower bar for a website, considering that it's texts
stick to corners when u resize window or change resolution, like
    these
    samsungexperience.com.br
    compactstudios.com
For example, in the first site, the buttons stick to lower
left corner, while the copyright info sticks to the right one and,
when u resize or change resolution, only the space between then
    changes.
    Thanks in advance

    HI
With respect to the Samsung site, the entire site is in a swf
including the top and bottom bars.
Take a look at the HTML Source in your browser, you'll see
they've created a DIV with releative positioning based on the size
of the browser window. There is also a resize function to update
the relative position of the DIV with respect to the window size.
    All very simple really.
    Hope it helps

  • I'm using my Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MHS291L to wirelessly connect my printer to my desktop and tablet will the printer use my monthly data to print/recieve info from my computer/tablet

I know a normal wireless router would allow me to connect my printer to my desktop and tablet but will using my Verizon Jetpack® 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MHS291L as a access point incur data usage each month?

Hello Heath76, you pose an excellent question! Yes, if the Jetpack is used as an access point for any of the devices listed it will incur data usage.

  • Data overage and horrable customer service.

I have been charge incorrectly for the data overage on my cellular phone,  I disputed the data overage on my Verizon Wireless account, the phone and wish to open an investigation.
I don’t use my cell phone to download the movies/video or music neither did I authorized anyone to use my cell phone for the high data activities. Approximately 39GB of data was used on my mobile phone during the month of October 2014. I never had such a high data usage in the past. Based on my analysis of the bill most of the usage happened during evening/night time and on weekends. We have an internet service at home. In my household we currently have my 13 years old daughter, our cat and me leaving together.  In September, we temporary moved from our house to an apartment. I have left my phone unattended several times in apartments’ gym and swimming pool, it was not password protected at that time. I have installed password recently, and changed the password for the hotspots based on tech support recommendations. My daughter knows my password, however she denies using my phone hotspots for movie or music downloads.  We have a regular internet service and rarely use hotspots to connect her i-pod or my computer to the internet while driving in a car, to browse an internet.  However, I often left my hotspots on, unintentionally.  I suspect that somebody in the apartment building was using my mobile phone hotspots to get to the internet.
In addition, I did not receive any communications from Verizon informing me about my data overage. In the past, I always had notifications from Verizon about the data/minutes usage on my account. If I were to get a notification about high data usage, I would start an investigation immediately to find out the source of data leakage and certainly change my plan meanwhile to a higher data limit.
The only notification   I received this time, was an email from Verizon on November 3, 2014, stating that my account balance was $3123. I called Verizon Wireless the morning of November 4, 2014. I was told by a Verizon representative that I have a data overage, and was advised to change my data plan to prevent additional charges. I upgraded my account to 30 GB/month plan. I inquired about the possible cause of the high data usage, and was told by Verizon representative,   that the data was used through my hotspots.
In addition, I was informed that, Verizon has been sending e-mail messages to me beginning October 15, 2014. As I stated earlier, I received no communications from Verizon prior to November 3, 2014 warning me about data overage.
In the past 2 days, I spent over 10 hours talking to Verizon customer support, technical support and fraud departments trying to understand how so much data was used through my phone. I also went to Verizon store in Downingtown, PA in attempt to solve this problem. I shown my e-mail communications to the store manager and explained the situation.  I was treated very professionally but was told to call customer service.  While on the phone with Verizon, I have been bounced around from one representative to another, put on hold for hours, lost during the transfer several times, given wrong, inconsistent or contradictory  information on multiple  occasions. Each Verizon representative would give me different information on why I did not receive warnings from Verizon on my data usage or in contrary for example, that Verizon sent me 150 warning messages starting October 15, 2014. However I did not get any resolution to my problem even when I asked to speak to the managers.
I have been a loyal Verizon customer for over 18 years.    I feel now that Verizon did not protect me as a customer from the fraudulent activities and failed to inform me about my data usage prior to billing me the exuberant charges. I feel that the Verizon representatives are lacking training and conducting bad business practices by providing inconsistent information and bouncing customers around from one department to another.   I don’t know if I can trust my business to Verizon in the future.
I strongly believe that I should be fully credited for the data overage I did not use. I would like Verizon Corporate to improve on their current business practices to improve customer satisfaction.
I wish Verizon corporate representative to contact me via phone call and in writing to resolve these issues.

I had the same problem with my old iphone 4. The hotspot, even when used sparingly, will use OUTRAGEOUS amounts of data. The only reason I got my overages credited was because shortly after turning the hotspot off my antenna started to malfunction and would not connect to wifi at all and just sucked up data. Best of luck to you, my suggestion is to report to the BBB and go from there.

  • Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot 890L. Is there a problem with Windows 7?????

I have Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot 890L. Have had it for almost 2 years. I was on the internet with my Dell desktop and all of a sudden got a message "not connected to Internet". Spent an hour with Verizon and the Jetpack works fine on my NOOK and another tablet and they said to call Dell. After an hour with them they said Windows 7 is not compatible with a HotSpot and they do not support it.  I had a friend check out my computer (as Dell wanted over $200) and found nothing wrong and it connected fine to his wifi, with no problem.  So HELP what is wrong with my Verizon Hotspot??

I don't see that anything is wrong with your Hotspot from the description you posted here.
First of all the network status indicator built by Win7 is not 100% reliable to begin with.  MS has a simple algorithm that it uses to check internet resources.  When those resources do not respond the status indicator will bounce back and update the user accordingly.  You should always perform your own internet check by manually navigating to Google.com or another public website rather than depend on what Win7 is telling you.
Second of all you know your Jetpack was working because your other personal devices were working.  This makes me think there was some kind of a temporary glitch that would normally be resolved by rebooting either the Jetpack or your PC.
Finally, Dell does not support VZW devices.  When they say the hotspot is not supported they mean Dell does not support VZW products.  You may have misinterpreted what was said.  Dell is only going to support the Dell PC hardware and very basic Win7 problems such as walking you though the connection process.  When something is wrong with the network connection they will always tell you that it is not supported as they have no control over 3rd party vendors.  Win7 supports the Jetpack just fine, the Jetpack is a WiFi hotspot just like any other from Win7s perspective.
If you are having more troubles in the future then I suggest starting with a simple reboot of your devices.  Post back to us here and let us know if that is the case or not.

  • AirPort Extreme and Verizon's Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCHLC11

Has anyone had any success using Verizon's Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCHLC11 with their Airaport Extreme?
My home network consists of two AirPort Extremes, an iMac, two AppleTV2s, an iPad, an iphone4 and a Canon Printer.
The problem is that I just moved to a rural area where there is no cable or DSL Internet provider.  Satellite is available but is too slow and too expensive.  My best option is Verizon's 4G LTE.
So the question is this: Is it possible to wirelessly connect my AirPort Extremes to the wireless Internet signal from the Samsung Mobile Hotspot (WiFi out only) so that my home network has access to the Internet?

I know its a little late but to answer your question "has anyone had any success using this Verizon Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot as their primary home WiFi router?"
Yes with a Cradlepoint router. I use the MBR1100 which allows me to use mutiple air cards, or the MBR900 for use of just one card. Once that is set up you can use your Airport Express to extend the network as you need.
    Hope this helps

  • Generic Data Extraction : Setting of Upper and Lower Limits

    Hi all,
I'm doing the delta extraction for this non-standard infocube which stores data about measuring documents. The strategy I used was to first update a ODS with the new/changed measuring documents determined by their last changed date. Then it will update the infocube with the new values. In order to get the delta measuring documents to go into the ODS, I specify a upper limit of 1 and lower limit of 0 in the extractor's generic delta settings to get measuring documents that are created/changed the previous day. But the system will still take in the full set of measuring document.
Is there something that I have missed out?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I dont see anything wrong with what you have done. That is correct, it is recommended that the upper safety interval should be set to 1.
But according to you, the system still gets the newly changed records as of current day. Have you checked the update mode? It should be <b>DELTA UPDATE</b>. It might be marked as <b>FULL UPDATE</b>.
Have you successfully initialized the <b>DELTA Update</b>?
Are you using an appropriate DELTA field? It should be a Calendar Day.
Hope I did help and if i did, please grant points...

Thanks for the quick response. What you have said makes sense but there is no rhyme or reason to he data used. I reset my cellular data counter to zero so both sent and received read zero. I was connected to wifi and let the phone to go into sleep mode. I waited about ten minutes and sent myself the same email four times, each with a 750 kb attachment. It was sent to my .me address so it was push mail on my phone. Sure enough I checked a minute later while bringing the phone out of sleep mode and checked the data. It showed just 10kb sent but 1mb received which just doesn't tally with the 4 x 750kb mails received. It just isn't making sense.
He knows what you asked and has already answered it!
I thought I had read where the iOS4 (or maybe just the iPhone 4) was supposed to be able to keep wifi connections alive while inactive. If the phone is sitting there on a charger with a wifi connection available, why use the 3G?

  • Can you add data to a  4g lte mobil hotspot through my verizon

I have an  iphone 4  on my current "my Verizon", can a 4g lte mobil hotspot be managed with that account ?

You can add the 2GB of hotspot data either on line or by calling *611 or 1-800-922-0204  I believe some cell plans have the hotspot included.
    Good Luck

  • Data Usage Packages should be in smaller increments and lower bills.

I just read info on data usage on your website.  It says that you are in the process of beta testing new data usage packages. All of the packages your site describes are increasing data limits, i.e. "the data amount included with Economy Plus through Performance XFINITY Internet tiers would increase from 250 GB to 300 GB".I checked my own data useage (average around 30gb/mb) and then clicked on your link that shows the median data useage for your customers (average 40 gb/mo). Is there a way to lower my bill by having a lower data limit?  I can't see why I (and apparently your average customer) should have to pay for a data allowance that is way more than my average useage. Is there a 100gb or 50gb/mo plan?I could be misreading this info, and if so, my apologies.

If someone at Verizon could answer this I'd appreciate it as I am considering whether to purchase through Verizon or AT&T.  I've been a Verizon customer for several years but I'm growing a little concerned about these complaints that I've been reading about.

  • Tiered Data Overages? LOOK HERE!!

If you are here, you already know what this discussion is about. The internet forums are filled with Verizon customer complaints regarding data overage charges resulting from EXCESSIVE, UNUSAL data usage that the customers do not agree with. In most cases, the overage charges are astronomical, and the amount of data usage is multiple of the customers' usual, average usage. Also, in most cases, according to Verizon, these customers have used up their alloted quota just a few days into the new billing cycle. It happens on ALL type of data devices, smartphones, tablets, hotspots/mobile broadbands as well as Verizon's LTE based home internet product HomeFusion.
From my personal experience, the usage monitoring tool that Verizon has provided is a faulty, absolute garbage of an application that is inaccurate to say the least. For example, as of right now, total data usage on ALL my devices is LESS than the sum of usage on individual lines - 0.30GB on line 1, 0.28GB on line 2, but total usage is 0.31GB - how's that for accuracy? For most of this billing cycle, the total usage was 0.0GB even though the usage on individual lines were going up. As you can see from my low, low data usage that I am SCARED to touch my phones because I don't know what Verizon would come up with and then demand ungodly amount of money for something that I didn't use.
Now, you might think that once you are into the new billing period and a bill for the previous period has been printed showing no overages for that period, you are safe. NO, NO, NO!!!!!! Enter the "Unbilled usage from previous monthS" saga. You never know when you are going to be hit with one of those. See the capital "S" in the "months"? Yes, that means Verizon could come back months later and say, "hey, you owe us money because we didn't bill you for X amount of data you used in last monthS", and CONVENIENTLY add that usage to you CURRENT allotment to make you go over, resulting in overage charges.
Now, how does Verizon back up their claims of you using X amount of data? THEY DON'T. For example, if they had told you that you had voice overages, you have the option to check it against your call history not on your phone, but in the bill. Same goes for messages - Go to a Verizon store, and they can print details about every single messages such as what time the message was sent or received, from/to number (but not the actual message). But for data usage - THEIR WORD IS FINAL!! Ask them for details of data usage - their answer: NOPE,  CAN'T DO!!, BUT you still gotta pay.
What does Verizon do when you have a problem like that? If you post your issues here, you MIGHT get a canned "I am here to help you, please send me a DM so we can discuss it" response from a VZW CSR but THAT'S THE END OF IT. At the end, their conclusion is "THESE ARE LEGITIMATE CHARGES AND YOU HAVE TO PAY", folowed by a sarcastic "Can I help you with anything else", as if they have been SUCH A HELP all along. Then, if you complain long and hard enough, you might be offered a 25% reduction in the overage charges, given that you move up to a significantly higher priced tier, even though in reality you never needed it, leaving you with 75% of the phony bill that you have nothing to do with.
The reality is that Verizon, without being forced by external legal authorities, will NEVER admit that there is an issue with their data usage monitoring/billing system. In the past, Verizon had been fined for illegally charging its customers for data usage, minutes overages and what not. And, in every single case, Verizon was the subject of investigation and ONLY THEN it agreed to refund the customers - the good old "I am sorry because I got caught".
    So, what do we do?
At this time, we need to show our power as consumers and have our voices heard. If you a VICTIM of Verizon's illegal data overage charges practices, you must NOT give in and must STAND UP! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH VZW Reps. Go straight to other options. Two of such are BBB and FTC. When there are enough complaints, they will take notice and look into it. Here are the links:
    https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
    https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
    Stay strong and FIGHT BACK!!

    Lettuceman,
I have the same issue. 1 and 2 Gig chunks of data show up on the My
Verizon report, when I know I was not using the device. I have spent too much
time on the phone with customer service and there is no way to track down what
is causing the spikes. Since I have no control over stopping the overages, I
have made the decision to cancel the account; I have been shopping for
replacements and will get out in the next week or so. Too bad… it is nice
technology, it works well. But their fee structure and operational controls are
not what they need to be, so I have to bow out. I am rural, like you, and had
no decent alternatives before, but some point to point wireless alternatives
are starting to pop up and so I will take one of them.  Without these overages, I would have stayed
on this indefinitely, even though it was a bit pricey.  But I have a real problem with paying for
service I am not using… and that is definitely what is happening.
    Good luck..
