Data Page Wizards

Jdeveloper 3.2.3 - windows 2000
Oracle 8.1.7
I have used the Data Page Wizards to create a query, edit and insert forms.
The forms are generated using the jbo: datatags. I would like to implement the following:
1. Query submit screen(hitlist)
Currently, the hitlist displays all the records in the rowset as stipulated by the RowSetIterate datatag. I need the hitlist to be a repeating page of 25 records, with links to navigate to first, next, previous, last. The left most field in the hitlist would be a hyperlink to a detail page.
I would like to implement the solution using the datatags as opposed to data webbeans.
Any information on how to manipulate any of the datatags required is appreciated.
Thanks.

From the wizard page that uses data from another wizard page, you obtain the wizard. From the wizard you get the desired page by calling the wizards getPage() method. As parameter you put the desireds wizard page name (a string that you passed while adding that page to the wizard. Cast the result to the desired page and check if the result is not null. Then you can get any data you want by calling any getter method of that page:
IWizard wizard = myPage.getWizard();
MyOtherPage otherPage = (MyOtherPage) wizard.getPage("other.page");
if (otherPage != null)
otherPage.getThis();
otherPage.getThat();

• Flash Builder 4.5 Data Services Wizard, setting up REST service call returns Internal Error Occurred

Dear all -
I am writing with the confidence that someone will be able to assist me.
I am using the Flash Builder Data Services Wizard to access a Server that utilizes REST type calls and returns JSON objects. The server is a JETTY server and it apparantly already works and is returning JSON objects (see below for example). It is both HTTP and HTTPS enabled, and right now it has a cross-domain policy file that is wide open (insecure but its not a production server, it's internal).
The crossdomain file looks like this:

<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="*" secure="false"   />
<allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" secure="false"/>
<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only" />
</cross-domain-policy>
The crossdomain file is in the jetty server's root directory and is browseable via HTTP and HTTPS (i.e. browsing to it returns the xml)
Now before all of you say that using wizards sucks (generally) I thought I would utilize the FB Data Services Wizard as at least it would provide a template for which I could build additional code against, or replace and improve the code it produces.
With that in mind, I browse to the URL of the Jetty Server with any web browser (for example, Google Chrome, Firefox or IE) with a URL like this (the URL is a little confidential at the moment, but the structure is the same)
https://localhost:somePort/someKey/someUser/somePassword/someTask
*somePort is the SSL port like 8443
*someKey is a key to access the URL's set of services
returns a JSON object as a string in the web browser and it appears like the following:
{"result":success,"value":"whatEverTheValueShould"}
Looks like the JSON string/object is valid.
I went through the Flash Builder Data Services Wizard to set up HTTP access to this server. The information that I filled in is described below:
Do you want to use a Base URL as a prefix for all operation URLs?
YES
Base URL:
https://localhost:8443/someKey/
Name                    : someTask
Method                    : POST
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
URL                              : {someUser}/{somePassword}/someTask
Service Name: SampleRestapi
Services Package: services.SampleRestapi
datatype objects: valueObjects:
Completing the wizard, I run the Test Operation command. Remember, no authentication is needed to get a JSON string.
It returns:
InvocationTargetException: Unable to connect to the URL specified
I am thinking - okay, but the URL IS browseable (as I originally was able to browse to it, as noted above).
I continue to test the service by creating a Flex application that accepts a username and password in a form. when the form is submitted, the call to the service is invoked and an event handler returns the result. The code is below (with some minor changes to mask the actual source).

<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
xmlns:SampleRestapi="services.SampleRestapi.*"
minWidth="955" minHeight="600">
<fx:Script>

import mx.controls.Alert;
import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
protected function button_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
isUserValidResult.token = SampleRestAPI.isUserValid(userNameTextInput.text,passwordTextInput.text);
protected function SampleRestAPI_resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
// print out the results
txtAreaResults.text = event.result.message as String;
// txtAreaResults.appendText( "headers \n" + event.headers.toString() );

</fx:Script>
<fx:Declarations>
<SampleRestapi:SampleRestAPI id="SampleRestAPI"
fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString + '\n' + event.fault.faultDetail)"
result="SampleRestAPI_resultHandler(event)"
showBusyCursor="true"/>
<s:CallResponder id="isUserValidResult"/>

</fx:Declarations>
<s:Form defaultButton="{button}">
<s:FormItem label="UserName">
<s:TextInput id="userNameTextInput" text="q"/>
</s:FormItem>
<s:FormItem label="Password">
<s:TextInput id="passwordTextInput" text="q"/>
</s:FormItem>
<s:Button id="button" label="IsUserValid" click="button_clickHandler(event)"/>
<s:FormItem  label="results:">
<s:TextArea id="txtAreaResults"/>
</s:FormItem>
</s:Form>
</s:Application>
It's a simple application to be sure. When I run it , I get the following returned in the text area field txtAreaResults:
An Internal Error Occured.
Which is equivalent to the following JSON string being returned:
{"success":false,"value":"An Internal Error Occured"}
It appears that the call is being made, and that a JSON object is being returned... however it does not return the expected results?
Again the URL constructed is the same:
https://www.somedomain.com:somePort/someKey/someUser/somePassword/someTask
So I am wondering what the issue could be:
1) is it the fact that I am browsing the test application from an insecure (http://) web page containing the Flex application and it is accessing a service through https:// ?
2) is the JSON string structurally correct? (it appears so).
3) There is a certificate enabled for HTTPs. it does not match the test site I am using ( the cert is for www.somedomain.com but I am using localhost for testing). Would that be an issue? Google Chrome and IE just asks me to proceed anyway, which I say "yes".
Any help or assistance on this would be appreciated.
thanks
Edward

Hello everyone -
Since I last posted an interesting update happened. I tested my Flex application again, it is calling a Jetty Server that returns a JSON object, in different BROWSERS. I disabled HTTPS for now, and the crossdomain.xml policy file is wide open for testing (ie. allowing every request to return data). So the app accessing the data using HTTP only. Browsers - IE, Opera, Firefox and Chrome. Each browser contained the SAME application, revision of the Flash Player (10.3.183.10 debugger for firefox, chrome, opera, safari PC; 11.0.1.129 consumer version in IE9,) take a look at the screen shot (safari not shown although the result was the same as IE and chrome)
Note that Opera and Firefox returned successful values (i.e. successful JSON objects) using the same code generated from the Data Services Wizard. Chrome, IE and, Safari failed with an Internal error. So I am left wondering - WHY? Is it something with the Flash Player? the Browsers? the Flex SDK? Any thoughts are appreciated. Again, the code is found in the original thread above.

• Data Loading Wizard loses Column Mapping

I created pages of APEX page type "Data Loading." They are being used to populate Staging tables and worked terrific in my existing environment. However; I migrated the DB using export and imported it into a new environment. Similarly, I exported my APEX Application and imported it into the new environment. It appears that the second page of Data Loading Wizard has lost the mapping of which table it is loading into. On every column in the second page the only option for the column name is "Do Not Load". What do I need to move over, so that my Data Loading Wizard pages remembers the column names for the table they were mapped to in the old environment?

Hi David,
You didn't mention what version of APEX you are using. Their was an issue in 4.1 in the export file where the owner wasn't being updated:
wwv_flow_api.create_load_table(
p_id =>3570143708960669327+ wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset,
p_flow_id => wwv_flow.g_flow_id,
p_name =>'Load Employees',
p_owner =>'PAUL',
p_table_name =>'EMP',
p_unique_column_1 =>'EMPNO',
p_is_uk1_case_sensitive =>'N',
p_unique_column_2 =>'',
p_is_uk2_case_sensitive =>'N',
p_unique_column_3 =>'',
p_is_uk3_case_sensitive =>'N',
p_wizard_page_ids =>'',
p_comments =>'');Try modifying the p_owner =>'PAUL' line in your export file and change it to the name of the schema your importing it into.
Thanks
Paul

• Modify the Data Load wizard to remove the check for unique columns

Hi,
I'm trying to make a Data Loading Wizard into my application, which basically works nice except for one thing:
I want to remove the check for unique columns, and insert ALL data which the users wants to upload.
(Like the Data load utility under development).
The reason is, that the data I want to upload is an export from my bank statements (in XLS / CSV format)
And these exports don't have any primary key.
Using the Apex wizard created Data Upload pages, I will loose data in case I had two identical payments in a day.
Is there a way to do this, while keeping the pages created by the wizard to make Data Loading pages?
apex 4.2.1

I would suggest to load the data into a view and process the records into the real table(s) with instead-of-triggers. When you add a "1=2" where clause to the view, there never is any data and everything will be loaded.
Otherwise you have to have a "real" PK value, like a timestamp or a statement_nr+line_nr.

• Fixed Asset Data Migration Wizard

Hi All,
I tried to use Fixed Asset Data Migration Wizard to migration my fixed asset data from 8.82 to 9 in the development server. The server only accessible by myself.
When I start the migration run, system prompt me " To Continue with the fixed asset data migration, you must be the only user logged on to this company data".
In fact I'm the only user in the company data and system not allow me to execute the migration.
What are the causes that system recognise there is another user in the system?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Foong Yee

Hi,
If you're using SQL Server, try Detach (close existing connections) and re-Attach the database again then re-login and try executing again the wizard.

• Data Services wizard not creating service

I am having huge problems with the Data Services wizard.
I am using Flash Builder 4.6 on a Mac (10.7.2).
Over the last year I have been working on a couple of proof of concept projects and now want to start work on a production version starting from scratch in a new project.
The Data Services wizard has worked fine for me in the past, but now I am having serious problems.
The first problem is the Data/Services window does not update when I create a new service with the wizard. (I am connecting to the Zenfolio Web Service.) If have to close the project and open it before I see the new service in the Data/Services window.
While this problem is more an inconvenience, more seriously the wizard does not create either the "services" folder or the "valueObjects" folder as it did in the past.
Now if I right click on a method in the service and select "Create Service Call", it creates the Call Responder but not the call itself.
The relevant log entry starts with
!ENTRY com.adobe.flexbuilder.dcrad 4 1 2012-01-12 22:39:20.962
!MESSAGE Component type services.zfapi.Zfapi not found.
If I create a "services" folder and copy the zfapi package from one of my previous projects, all works fine.
This probably gives me a workaround - although I haven't tested this to any extent yet.
It is very strange and worrying behaviour though.
regards
Chris

• 4.2.3/.4 Data load wizard - slow when loading large files

Hi,
I am using the data load wizard to load csv files into an existing table. It works fine with small files up to a few thousand rows. When loading 20k rows or more the loading process becomes very slow. The table has a single numeric column for primary key.
The primary key is declared at "shared components" -> logic -> "data load tables" and is recognized as "pk(number)" with "case sensitve" set to "No".
While loading data, these configuration leads to the execution of the following query for each row:
select 1 from "KLAUS"."PD_IF_CSV_ROW" where upper("PK") = upper(:uk_1)
which can be found in the v$sql view while loading.
It makes the loading process slow, because of the upper function no index can be used.
It seems that the setting of "case sensitive" is not evaluated.
Dropping the numeric index for the primary key and using a function based index does not help.
Explain plan shows an implicit "to_char" conversion:
UPPER(TO_CHAR(PK)=UPPER(:UK_1)
This is missing in the query but maybe it is necessary for the function based index to work.
Please provide a solution or workaround for the data load wizard to work with large files in an acceptable amount of time.
Best regards
Klaus

Nevertheless, a bulk loading process is what I really like to have as part of the wizard.
If all of the CSV files are identical:
use the Excel2Collection plugin ( - Process Type Plugin - EXCEL2COLLECTIONS )
create a VIEW on the collection (makes it easier elsewhere)
create a procedure (in a Package) to bulk process it.
The most important thing is to have, somewhere in the Package (ie your code that is not part of APEX), information that clearly states which columns in the Collection map to which columns in the table, view, and the variables (APEX_APPLICATION.g_fxx()) used for Tabular Forms.

• Application Builder Create Page Wizard... huh?

I just tried this wizard to create a wizard. I assumed the wizard would look like the Apex wizards with a "step" ladder. The Wizard wizard seems to create pages, next, previous, and cancel button and not much else.
I tried creating it using tabs, just tabs and I don't see anything else. Is there a tutorial or ? on the page Wizard wizard?
Thanks,
Sam

Scott,
I don't know why you can't read minds... Larry does :)
If I sounded like the design or implementation of the Wizard wizard sucked, that was not my intention, I wasn't even trying to be sarcastic. I assumed the "wizard" map would be part of the Wizard wizard. And no I don't know what is is :)
I am not looking for content, I was looking for the construct that provides the current step that the wizard is on. Like during page create from the "Application ###" page of Application Builder. I like the "overview" nature of the process map.
The first is Page > Define
After you select the type of page it goes to "Pages > Region Attributes > Tab > Page Attributes > Buttons > Branching > Confirm" for the wizard to create Wizards. Should follow the same titles that are provided for the pages on the Page Attributes page of the wizard. Here is the code from the page source. I thought it was an Apex construct.

Pages

Region Attributes

Tab (optional)

Page Attributes

Buttons

Branching

Confirm

But I am guessing that does not happen.
Thanks,
Sam

• Data Import Wizard from Excel on DATE column

I have exported data to a csv in Oracle SQL Developer and one of the columns are of an Oracle Date datatype. In opening up Excel I see the Date column represented as 15-MAY-01 12.00.00.000000000 AM.
I am now going through the Data Import Wizard to create a new table and import the data. When I get to Step 3 of 4 it reads the data and assigns it a VARCHAR2. I want the column to be Date or Timestamp. In this case I choose timestamp and for format entered DD-MON-YY hh.mi.ss.fffffffff AM.
When I go to Step 4 of 4 to and click the Verify button I get:
"Verifying if the Date columns have date formats" Date columns DOT_LOGN_EFDT, have invalid or null date formats.
I am using Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.0.63 Build 63.73.
Any idea what I put in the format window to read the excel value of 15-MAY-01 12.00.00.000000000 AM correctly?

I am not able to reproduce your problem. When I export a date column, I do not get the time portion. This is the expected behavior. When re-importing the date, I therefore have no problem. I have tried manipulating the tools->preferences->database->nls->date format mask to include the time (and fractional seconds), but export still only exports the date portion. The fractional seconds is not valid for a date field, which explains the import error you are getting. The question remains as to why the exported data has the time. Can you describe your exact steps for doing the export?

• Data block wizard breaks master-detail

I've encountered the following situation, and I'm wondering if it's a known bug or if I'm doing something wrong:
1. Open the data block wizard on an existing block that is the "detail" block of a master-detail relationship.
2. Add one new field to the block. No other changes are made.
3. When the form is recompiled and run, the master-detail relationship is broken. The detail block contains all the rows in the detail table. Clicking on the rows of the master block does not change the detail.
Adding a field to the block manually does not cause a problem. The relation is not impacted, and we see no property settings that are wrong. We tried downloading and installing all of the latest patches for forms 6i, and the problem occurs with that release as well. Any ideas?

I think you do something wrong because I add many fields many times and it works fine.
Thanks

• Data Loading Wizard in Apex 4.1.1

I am having an issue utilizing the out of the box APEX Data loading wizard.
My data (separated by \t) has double quotes (") in them and no variation of "Enclosed by" or "Separated by" item settings is allowing the "Parse Uploaded Data" process to correctly parse the information.
Am I missing something obvious ? Has anyone got it to work with data that does contain double quotes?

Hi Usul,
I am able to parse data with double quotes and separated by a tab (\t). can you double check if your file is tab separated and contains double quotes ? or would you share the file with me so that i can check what is going on ?
Regards,
Patrick

• Data Service Wizard - How can I reconfigure return type field as XML (E4X) value

The HTTP Data Service wizard - "Reconfigure Return Type" - does not allow XML (E4X) to be selected as a data type for a field. For example , If my example XML payload looks like this (see below), I would like to set the datatype for "settings" field to be XML (E4X) and have the service decode the "string" value into an XML (E4X) value.

<ListOfUsers version="1.0.0">
<User>

<subType>INTERNAL</subType>
<authName>internal</authName>

<settings><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?><Settings><Profile><Region>emea</Region><Language>en.g b</Language></Profile></Settings></settings>
</User>
</ListOfUsers>

I find a (reasonably) elegant workaround which is to add a transient property in the "public" sub class of the value type - see below - I havent tested it much so not sure if it will work adequateky in all circumstances
package services.listeningpost
public class User_type extends _Super_User_type
public function get xmlSettings():XML
return new XML(settings);
public function set xmlSettings(object:XML):void
settings = object.toXMLString();

• Flash Builder 4 and Blaze Data Services wizard

Hello,
My project uses BlazeDS for backend and Flex for frontend.
I use Data Services wizard to auto generate the valueObjects from the corresponding Java classes.
But the generated code does not seem to implement object inheritance. The valueObjects only inherit from their own _Super* classes.
Example
Java objects
Circle extends Shape
Generated actionscript objects
Circle extends _Super_Circle extends EventDispatcher
Shape extends _Super_Shape extends EventDispatcher
Doesn't Flash Builder Data wizards support this feature or am i missing something?
Thank you
Filaretos Postekoglou

Hi,
It should work fine. Can you please share the exact version of the LCDS. Also please let us know the service types and channel types you are using in your application.

• How do I stop the "Your Firefox is up to Date" page from loading after upgrading to ver. 6.0?

I upgraded from Firefox 3 point something or other (if I could remember exactly, I'd tell you) about 2 weeks ago to version 6.0. Thereafter, Firefox always starts up with two pages; one is a page declaring "Your Firefox is up to Date" and, on another tab, the default home page for Firefox. (the Google one)
It has continued to do that ever since, and I cannot find a way to stop the "Your Firefox is up to Date" page from loading at start-up.
I'm running a pc with WinXP Professional w/Service pak 3.

A suggestion for stopping the "Your Firefox is up to Date" page from loading at startup.
Use MozBackup for this; get it at http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/.
A good user friendly tutorial on it's use can be found at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/2418/backup-your-mozilla-based-software-with-mozbackup/.
Download MozBackup and read through the howtogeek tutorial.
Exit Firefox.
Open MozBackup and start the procedure.
Follow the procedure except for a part where you RESTORE the profile; in the Components selection window in MozBackup, UNCHECK the "General settings" box (you remember the General tab in the Tools/Options window in Firefox where your homepage info is kept?)
Continue with the procedure to the end.
When you re-open Firefox, you should be getting the Google homepage without the "Your Firefox is up to Date" page.
Go to Tools/Options/Privacy tab. If it looks different than what it used to, ie: you used to have the option to not accept cookies, etc and now you don't, open the drop-down menu in the Hisory portion there and click on "Use custom settings for history", which will provide options for more control.

• Up-to-date page not accepting serial number

I bought a new Mac from the Apple Online Store on 29th June. It is all registered and showing up as such on the Applecare look-up page.
When I now go to the Lion up-to-date page to try and retrieve my upgrade, it gives me the error message:
"Sorry, we can't find the serial number you provided. Please recheck your serial number and enter it again."
Anybody else seeing this, particularly if you purchased from the Apple Online Store?

Same here, ordered my MBP online, no dice with the up-to-date page. I did the manual proof of purchase thing the moment it failed. I've been waiting for 2 days and still they haven't verified my purchase . I heard it has something to do with the service being swamped. I thought it would be sorted by now.
