Data Source on View

Hi,
I am trying to create a generic data source on a view on std table which references another table for one of its Units.
Whilie trying to do the same I am getting an error that says : Invalid extract structure template .
Its explained in each thread that : I need to add the other table in my view, however none of the threads discuss a case where the tables are completely independent and there is no possible join condition between the actual and reffered table.
Please suggest.

Use the below joining conditions.

Ur rquirement will be satisfied.
MANDT     LLOCT     MANDT

first insert the above fields in the view and the required fields from T331 table.

When we don't find any standard extractor then we can go for Generic(if i want information sales along with finance information in a data source then generally we dont get standard one hence we can go for generic DS)

Eg : If you want the information about the All Customers across the regions in that case if i have the information
Like 1)Table 1 has all the information about the Customer number But not having the Customer address and region and Pin code but same information has in other table
table 2 : Customer no,Address, region and Pincode
So since in Two tables i have common field Customer no is present hence if create view then i can get All the information in single in view then you can create Generic DS based on the then same you ca extract the data to BW.

Use View Object with Alternative Data Sources in View Link

In my case, I created a view object based on alternative data source (not with SQL query). I have setQuery(null) in the override create() function for this View Object. When I use this View Object at the destination end of the View Link, the setQuery(null) will raise Jbo-26016 exception (You cannot set customer query (calling setQuery()) on a view object if it is the detail view object in a master detail view link.) which does not allow me to do that. I looked Avrom's Framework for Database API-Based ADF BC, in which he override the DBTransaction and CallableStatement in order to intercept the default query clause set by the View Link. I'd like to see if there is any alternative ways to achieve my objective?

Just following up what I found so far. I'm trying to use customized View Object based on alternative data source at the destination end of View Link with ADF 10.1.3.
1. For the View Object at the destination end of View Link, I can not call setQuery() which will raise Jbo-26016 exception.
2. I can omit the setQuery(null) call in my customized ViewObjectImpl, and as long as there is no SQL statement in the View Definition XML, it won't cause problem when calling the executeQueryForCollection() of the super class.
3. The override executeQueryForCollection() must call the super.executeQueryForCollection() in order to get appropriate result (I tried to skip the call and it does not give back any results)
4. The funny thing is, when I make getQuery() call in my customized ViewObjectImpl (I'm just trying to double check if the Query object is clean or not), the query object is set to "SELECT FROM" following the getQuery() call, and which causes the exceptions when I call super.exeuteQueryForCollection(). I found out later from the Javadoc API which is implemented in that way.
So I guess my case is resolved by not making specific call to setQuery(null).

How to execute Custom java data source LOV view object from a common mthd?

Hi,
My application contains Custom java data source implemented LOVs. I want to have a util method which gets the view accessor name, find the view accessor and execute it. But i couldn't find any API to get the view accessors by passing the name.
Can anyone help me iin how best view accessors can be accessed in common but no by creating ViewRowImpl class (By every developer) and by accessing the RowSet getters?

My application is not data base driven. Data transaction happens using tuxedo server.
We have entity driven VOs as well as programmatic VOs. Both are custom java data source implemented. Entity driven VOs will participate in transactions whereas programmatic VOs are used as List view object to show List of values.

Data source from view

Hi sap guru's
while creating datasource from view, i have given the application component name, descriptions and the view table name, but i am getting the error saying that only transparent tables and database views can be extracted. how to resolve the problem? please help me out..

Hi Krishna,
Goto Tcode SE11-> Create view -> ZH_T006-> Create database View . Now take ref. of existing view H_T006 and try to create exact view .Seek ABAPER help for the same.
Once ZH_T006 is activated , you may use it for your datasource creation activity.
Reason behind not allowing to use it as a view may be because of its type Help view.

Generic Data Source issue in CRM.

Generic Data Source with Table gave an issue "invalid Extracture structure template XXXXX of Data source XXXXX"
Generic Data source with Function Module gave an issue "Units field VOLUM_U for field VOLUME of DataSource ZTEST_XYZ is hidden"
Generic Data Source with View configured successfully but the data is not coming in Extractor Checker.
Three tables has taken in to consideration. I think there might be some issue with Join condition.
Can any one through light on this incident. Your help will be appreciated.

yes you are right. I took reference field as VOLUM_U.
I have created Generic Table. Do you need me to take same table in the reference Table.

BW Master data delta generic data source for further update in BW

Hi BWers,
I am looking for an option to load delta from Master data to another master data within BW. Export data source option for master data only has full load option but no delta update possible.
I tried creating generic data source delta enabled on view of master data (/BI/M). But the problem I am facing now is master data contains quantity field as attribute and this field refers another table RSDKYF for unit. To be able to create data source on view / table no field should refer field in another table.
Did anybody create delta for master data for further loading within BW or came across similar issue with key figures, please let me know the best procedure in this scenario? Appreciate your quick response.

In your master data attribute have a date field which will be filled by the R/3 load as sy-datum - then create an export datasource and in the infopackage - give a selectoion for the date field as sy-datum and sy-datum -1..
Not exactly a delta but then usually master data is not kept as delta because the volumes are usually less - you can achieve delta by this method...

Weblogic hangs while configuring JDBC data sources

We are performing the pre-installation configuration setps. Once we clicked on the Finish button weblogic it takes the request but unable to complete the same.
Kindly provide the inputs in resolving the issue.
Configuration details:
database - Oracle 11g
O/S : Linux
Weblogic: 10.3.4

Issue got resolved after restarting the weblogic server. However we are unable to view the 'Data Source' in View JNDI Tree’ page of weblogic. Which is causing the deployment of RequestConsole.war file to fail.

How can I use Data Source Explorer to connect soap service with my work manager project?

I am new in Agentry and I want to Consume soap service in work manager project.For that I add my service in data source explorer but I dont have any Idea that how can I go further in that to use this service in my project.

Are you consuming OData service or SOAP service ? Your heading says something but looking at screen it is OData service.
I have not worked on OData service in Agentry but hopefully you can figure out rest of the steps:-
Here are some high level steps you can follow depending on what your trying to do.
1. Open "Data Source Explorer" view->Eclipse, select "Window/Show View/Other->"Data Management/Data Source Explorer"
2. On "Data Source Explorer" view, ->"OData Connections"->right click and select "New...
3. Enter name of the connection profile.
4. Enter Service URI of in OData Connection Details
5. After "Test Connection", press "Finish" or click "Next" to view Summary.
6. Right click "Yourproject" node under "OData Connection", select connection. You will see "Entities"
7. Expand "ODataEntities", right click "Entityset", select "Agentry: Connector Studio\Object Wizard for OData".
8. Select a module to add odata connection, click "Next"; and click "Next"; and click "Next"
9. Check "Add", "Edit" and "Delete" on "Transaction Selection" screen.
10. Create your own screenset and platform as required.
11. Test the changes.

Refreshing the Data Source View in Analysis Services

I have added columns to the SQL Database table that is used as a dimension in an Analysis Services Cube. The new columns will be used as additional Property Fields for the dimension. When I attempted to refresh the Data Source view so that the additional columns are present, I am given the following error:
System.Data
Property not accessible because 'Parent Columns and Child Columns don't have type-matching columns'
I have done nothing to the columns used for the parent of child and the error message provides nothing to gon on. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks for your response. I will try and answer your questions
1) I have not tried removing the columns yet. I will try that this afternoon but have limited hope. The two columns I added are simple text columns that will be used as attributes in the dimension. I have made no change to the parent or child columns.
2) The table I modified is the source table for a parent-child dimension.
3) The reference to the "check list" does not take me to any kind of check list.
4) The parent-child dimensions I am trying to modify have been in use for months and the parent and child columns do have the dame data types.
5) I have also check the data types between the dimension table and the fact table. they use the same data types (small int).
6) I have not made a collection for the parent key, it is a single column. The remainder of your last paragraph is not clear to me. Can you give me an example.
I am fairly inexperienced with Analysis Services, please talk slow and use small words :-)

What do you mean "It Not Working"？ As Kamath said, please post the detail error message, so that we can make further analysis.
In the Data Source View of a CUBE, we can define a named query. In a named query, you can specify an SQL expression to select rows and columns returned from one or more tables in one or more data sources. A named query is like any other table in a data source
view (DSV) with rows and relationships, except that the named query is based on an expression.

Report Viewer and Multiple Data Sources

I know that it is possible to create a report in Crystal Reports using multiple data sources. But is it possible to use just the Free Report Viewer to view a report with Multiple Data Sources?
Our company uses Crystal Reports XI. I do not use the program myself, I am in the IT Department. I have limited knowledge of Crystal and do not do any of the report writing.
If this is possible, and if someone could help me out with what would need to be done, or point me in the right direction of a Knowledge Base or Help Topic that explains this, that would be great.

I believe it can but both data sources need to be set up. Ask a report designer to help you use the Designer to test this and see what is required.

Power View in SharePoint Server - The data extension type for a data source is not valid

Hi All,
All of a sudden I am getting following error when trying to create Power View report using shared report data source (no error testing the connection):
"The current action cannot be completed. The data extension type for a data source
'http://dev/Shared Ducuments/Sales.rsds' is not valid for this operation"
I already have a data source (I had created it after creating my site collection a week ago) and when I use this source to create Power View report then there is no error but I am getting above error when I create another similar data source and use it to create
a Power View report.
Please help me to resolve the error.

How do I reference multiple tables in SSAS Data Source View Named Calculation functionality?

Hi SSASers -
On the Data Source View node of SSAS Visual Studio Interface, I want to create a named calculation that references multiple tables. Something like: CASE WHEN tableA.Column1 = 'Y' Then tableB.Column1 ELSE tableB.Column2 End, but the compiler throws an error
here "Deferred prepare could not be completed".
What is the syntax for referencing multiple tables on this node or how else can multiple tables be used to create a calculated value in SSAS? I'm new to SSAS and so far have been building big views and building calculations this way. Another option is the
Calculation tab off the cube node but this calculation will need to be based off of dimensions AND measures so please provide a syntax example here also.

Thanks Jiri! The named query functionality off the Data Source View node is exactly what I was looking for - it's just a view on the SSAS side of things instead of the relational dbase.

Unable to view enhanced field in Data Source

Hi All,
We recently upgraded our R/3 system from 4.7 to ECC 6.0. Now when we are enhancing the data source, the field is visible in the Extract Structure. But we are unable to view it in the data source. We checked out in RSA2 the enhanced field attribute is specified as 'Field in OLTP and BW Hidden by SAP'. We have written code to modifiy the ROOSFIELD table to make the enahnced field visible. But this is the problem with all the data sources. Whenever, we have to enahnce, we have to go thru this process to make the enhanced field visible.
Is it like that we missied out any patch in ECC 6.0 while upgrade? If any person faced similar situation, please help us.

Hi Ravi,
I think you are missing a step here. As soon as you enhance your datasource with new fields, by default, those 2 check boxes are checked ( Hidden and Field in User exit only). You go to RSA6, edit your datasource and here, you can uncheck these added fields so that you can use them. You do not need to write any code to change the fields settings in ROOSFIELD table. Do the step I mentioned above after enhancing and you should be good. Hope it helps.
