Data Template using Multiple XML's

I have a requirement to create a data template with data from multiple XML files and this is dynamic based on user selection.
Here is an example
Data Hirerachy
|-PO Header (POHeader.xml)
|-----PO Line (POLine.xml)
|-----PO Receipts (POreciepts.xml)
Now use can choose to print all children or selectively one child . I can do it by creating 3 data templates and then using the appropriate one based on user selection. I am exploring the possibility to use one single dynamic data template created on the fly and passed to the publisher.
Appreciate any pointer to achieve this

• Any examples of a data template using multiple data sources?

I'm looking for an example report using multiple data sources. I've seen one where they do a master/detail but I'm just looking to combine results in sorted order (sorted across all data sources). The master/detail used a bind variable to link the two defined queries, I'm thinking what I want won't have that, so I'm lost on how to make that happen. I have reports using multiple sql queries and there is a way in the data source pulldown to tell it to combine the data sources. It appears to be a more manual process with data templates, if it's even possible.
Any pointers/links would be appreciated.

Hi Vetsrini :
That's just it. Mine is simpler than that. There is no master/detail relationship between the two queries. I have the same exact query that I run in two databases and I want to merge the results (ordered, by, say eventTime) in one report. So I think my results are going to be two separate groups (one for each data source) which I'll have to let BI merge vis XSLT or whatever it uses. That's fine for small result sets but for larger ones, it would be nice if the database did the sorting/merging.

• Data Template using sql query

Hi All,
I'm trying generate xml data using data template approach. For this do i need to use XSQL to generate xml data?
Can some one please tell me what is this XSQL and how it works?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Srini,
Thank you very much for the link, its elucidates the xml data generation process using data template.
One more question: is this method called (uses) XSQL anywhere??
Thanks,

• How to set #HOST# variable used in Chart template using Multiple Domains?

I have a extended question to How can I set #HOST# variable referenced in the Chart template?
In addition to the Proxy layer, we are looking to use multiple sub-domain names into the same Oracle APEX instance (through the one DAD) each mapped to a different application id. Therefore I don't think the solution in the link will work for me - as this embeds a single domain name in the DADS.CONF.
Two questions:
- Is it possible to set the "HTTP_HOST" in "dads.conf" using an existing HTTP Header value? - my proxy can pass on the original domain as "HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST". So if it was possible to use (say: using whatever form/syntax of parameterisation is available) ?
>
PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_HOST=%{HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST}
>
If it can then that would work for me. It would be great if modl_plsql handled this out of the box as I understand the "X-FORWARDED" approach is pretty standard in the proxy world including passing on original IP addresses. Hitting an phpinfo() site shows headers
>
HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR     192.168.2.100
HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST     dev.mycompany.com:443
HTTP_X_FORWARDED_SERVER     mycompany.com
>
- Alternatively is it possible in APEX environment to set the #HOST# from the HTTP Header "HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST" if it exists for all requests?
Thanks

Hi Donna,
changing the CGI environment variables HTTP_HOST, REQUEST_PROTOCOL and SERVER_PORT is the correct way how to resolve this, because it appears that your hiding the web server where you have installed mod_plsql or EPG by a different outside facing web server (also called reverse proxy). That's why APEX gets the host name, protocol and port of the internal web server, but should actually get the values of your reverse proxy web server. Can can fix that by changing the following CGI environment variables.
HTTP_HOST should just contain the domain name (no protocol or port). For example: www.oracle.com
REQUEST_PROTOCOL should contain http or https
SERVER_PORT should be the port for https
I don't want to add a new cgi variable called HOST because HOST sounds so generic and it might interfere with something else running in our environment. Or, I don't want to change the plsql cgi environment variable (such as HTTP_HOST) because many developers may use owa_util.get_cgi_env('HTTP_HOST') to get the current server. If the SERVER_PORT is part of the #HOST# then what could I change it to if it needs to be null. If you leave it blank, then the default SERVER_PORT comes from the CGI variables.The value of HTTP_HOST is wrong anyway and points to your internal web server, but I assume your developers actually want to get the host name of your external web server if they use it to generate absolute URLs. That's why I wouldn't bother and set it to the correct host name.

• Error in viewing data in a data template with multiple data sources

Hello,
I have designed a data template with two data sources.One is from DEPARTMENTS table and the other datasource is a xml file.Following is the code for the data template :
<dataTemplate name="EmployeeListing" dataSourceRef="demo">
<parameters>
<parameter name="p_DEPTNO" dataType="character" defaultValue="20"/>
</parameters>
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q1">
SELECT DEPARTMENT_NAME,DEPARTMENT_ID,LOC from DEPARTMENTS
</sqlStatement>
<xml name="empxml" expressionPath=".//ROW[DEPARTMENT_NAME =$DEPARTMENT_NAME]">

</xml>
/dataQuery>
</dataTemplate>
The problem is when i am trying to view the data, only data from SQL Query Q1 is getting displayed and the data from Employee xml is not at all getting displayed.
Could anyone please let me know what i am missing?

• Using multiple XML Connectors with a single trigger

I have an application, which I inherited, and it had used a
HUGE XML file, and has not been performing properly. Mgmt accepts
that the size of the XML is the problem and wants it split up, but
have it still work as if it were a single file.
The question posited to me was: Can I set up multiple XML
connectors and have the correct one triggered after a selection is
made from the Combo Box?
I am only an intermediate user and am getting these things
only because the other developer is retiring. Thank you for any
ideas/assistance.

Hello aps7828:
If I read that correct, you only get the error when you run the executables and not the VIs. Can you take a look at your processor level while one .exe is running. I am wondering if that is the source of the problem.

• Using multiple XML files for drill-down

I have an XML file which populates a graph showing months of the year. I have 12 other XML files which have data for each day of the month running from 1 - 31.
What I would like to do is use the 12 XML files to drill down for each of the months on my graph, but am struggling to get it to work.
The XML that populates the graph is in the following format :

<items>

and the other XML files are in the following format:

<items>

Would it be simpler to combine all the XML into one file?
Sorry that this is a bit vague, but if you could help me that would be appreciated. Let me know if you require any more information.
Thanks.

You can only import a single XML file. You may have an xml file that has multiple occurances of data but it must be a single xml file.
So you woudl have to find a way to combine all of those xml files into one then do the import.

Hi BK,
There is anything wrong with your Datasource attribute.
The correct DataSource attribute is like:
[DataSource("Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.DataSource.XML", "|DataDirectory|\\data.xml", "Iterations", DataAccessMethod.Sequential), DeploymentItem("data.xml"), TestMethod]
Iterations is the name of the table in the xml file. On your side, it should be ‘DataRow’.
If your xml file is not in the project directory, then you need specify the absolute path of the file in DeploymentItem option.

• Real time data monitoring using multiple thermocouples via indicators and waveform

I apologize in advanced for this question is probably somewhat simple but I am brand new to labview as well as to the forum and could use some pointers. I have a CompaqDAQ with two 9213 16 channel modules and I am trying to read in 30 thermocouples into a waveform as well as display 30 indicators so I can label each indicator with the corresponding thermocouple for real time monitoring. Each thermocouple corresponds to a specific location and it is critical that the interface have an accurate indication or label for each one. I am wondering if there is an easy way to do this besides splitting the signal and having 30 thermometers on my block diagram? Perhaps an array of some sort? If I use an array to create the 30 thermometers, does the DAQ assistant automatically sort the thermocouples in increasing numerical order. For example, would the first and second indicators on my interface automatically be assigned to the a0 and a1 channels of the first module or would I have to do this manually? Same for the waveform? Thanks a lot!
PS - Not sure if this message needed more specifics but just let me know if more info is needed and I will provide!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I see you are using the DAQ Assistant to create your task. Now I understand why you are asking about labeling. That is the NI Salesman's easy start up spiel... But anyway, have you ever created a task in MAX instead of using the DAQ Assistant? The interface is similar, and there may be a step or two more, but your end application will be more efficient and you will have more options with your data and properties. For instance, I tried to update the physical channel names in the DAQ Assistant setup ,which it does let you do, but it doesn't propagate that change forward to the waveform chart legend. Also, I don't know of any property node for that dynamic data type, although I never use it either. I suggest setting up your task and channels in MAX, if you don't mind giving it a go.
I wrote another example since I figured I didn't really lead you to the end with helping you out. It uses a cluster, although a little barbaric. I thought there was a more eloquent way of doing it by changing the labels, but I could not get it working as I anticipated.

• Create XML using Data Templates

Is anyone familiar will a tool, other than oracle that will create XML from data template definitions.
I trying to understand if the data template definitions are an Oracle specific tool that only Oracle can use to generate XML files.
If this is specific to Oracle, is there an easier way to use the data templates to generate XML without registering them in the concurrent manager, XMLP Admin, and then executing the concurrent process?
I'm looking for a shortcut to testing these files without having to register everything.

Why not using XML Publisher Standalone aka Enterprise 5.6.2 ?
There you can generate the XML based on data templates without registering anything. The installation is quite easy.

Hi,
it sounds to me like you created an XSD which has a targetNamespace http://xlmns.ekc.nl/caps-dlp, but the actual XML is not using that namespace (no namespace at all, xmlns="").
You can either set the targetNamespace for the schema to "" if that is allowed, or use elementForm is unqualified to make sure implictly defined elements have no namespace in your schema, or use something called an "identity transform" in XSL which will first put the correct namespace on each element before you process it further.

• Multiple XML HTTP Data sources sequentially

Hi,
We are creating a report using multiple XML HTTP Data sources sequentially.
The Report uses multiple XML HTTP Data sources sequentially; the report creation fails or delayed. We would like to join the datasources after accessing from the HTTP Server.
At the same time the same XML files when locally accessing as data sources, the report is getting created.
Is there any alternate solution for XML HTTP Data Source Access. Or in which way I can proceed with this.
Thanks,
Unni

I am not able to use datasets here.
The context is as below.
I am running an HTTP server (XML-RPC program),which will generate an XML output as defined with a local XML Schema.
Here I have multiple HTTP requests ,each will generate multiple XML outputs.
I am using XML and WebServices Connection where I will provide like below,
(Please note file1,file2 are normal text files with data corresponds to xsds.)
HTTP(s) XML URL : http://localhost:8002/ReadTable?name=file1
Local Schema File : E:\Test\file1.xsd
HTTP(s) XML URL : http://localhost:8002/ReadTable?name=file2
Local Schema File : E:\Test\file2.xsd
Like this I am able to create multiple XML outputs through HTTP requests.(only file1),which means while creating reports the sequential requests are not handling properly.
My report will join say two of theese files. But at the time of report creation it will ask of only runtime parameter of first request in the join.
Here The report will generate only with data from first text(data) file.(file1)
Hope you got a clarity about the proble.

Regards,
Balaji R.

It looks like it is unable to load your XML files. Depending on how your configuration is laid out, you may want to list full path names in your extract file - we make use of the same technique in 11.5, which I would imagine isn't terribly different in this respect from 12.0. Our configuration is such that we run Gendata at one level, read an extract file in the deflib folder, and the input files are in an input folder, so each entry in the extract file is C:\fap\mstrres\sampco\input\input1.xml.
Not sure if that is analogous to your setup or not, but based on the errors, either it can't find the file, so it is a pathing issue, or the file contents are invalid.

Go to DSO -> manage.
On content Tab, you get option for selective deletion (last button "selective").
Mention your selections inside Delete Selection & start the job.
This will delete the selected data only from active table.
Please note the data from change log will not be deleted. No selective deletion is possible on Change log. However, you can delete the older change logs if not necessary. Go to Environment -> Delete Change Log Data & specify the date or days.
