Data Type issue in XMLA

Hi
In XMLA, I am getting problem in Source datatype for Measures.
Measuregroup getting data from 3 different partition,this 3 partition populating data from 3 different view.One view populating data from base table,remaining 2 we gave default value with cast
ex: Cast (0 as Bigint) as MeasureName.
In DSV for all 3 table data type is System.Int64, but while I am generating deployment script. I am getting Integer as Source datatype for Measure in XMLA.So what might be the problem.
pls guide me,

Can you post exact error you're getting?

  • Physical Model Data Type Issue

    Hi,
    I have created ware house tables using E-business suite tables for general ledger model and exported into physical model. I could see all my keys/IDs which were numbers have been converted into decimal.
    Ex: journal_id in my oracle table is number (ex:1234). But when I exported into OBIEE and used view data option. All the IDs(data type number) data is showing as decimal format (1234.00).
    Ex: If I want to see data for check number in answers, then it is showing as 112456.00 instead of 112456.
    Please anyone had this kind of issue. how to resolve?
    Is there any default setting which is causing this problem.how to find?
    OBIEE version : 10.1.3.2
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi Sandeep,
    When I opened the rpd in offline mode, it is saying the repository can only be opened as Read-Only. I clicked Yes for this and entered admin user name and password. But in Physical model, when I right clicked any table, I couldnt see find any place to modify. I tried with properties also. I am not able change data type as it read-only. How to do it in offline?
    FYI,
    I opened rpd when OC4J was stopped. Aslo I opened when OC4J is running. But both times I am not able to change datat type.
    Thanks!!

  • Data Types issue in MDM import Manger

    Hi All,
                 I need to import the data from .xls file to MDM. I have a field Postal code in MDM main table and the same field is exists in source file too. In import Manager It is displaying the data types as Numeric in source and Text in destination. When i map, the fields are getting mapped but the values are not inserting/updating in destination MDM.
    Can any one help me on this.
    Regards,
    Venki.

    Hi Venki,
    please check if you map against the correct destination field.
    1. If you want to umport/update record in the main table you ned to choose for Source Hierarchy the Excel sheet with trhe data and for Destination Hierarchy - the Main Table. Then map all fields you need - you need to have at least 1 key field (e.g. Material Number, Vendor number, etc. against which you will do the matching). Then make sure that you map the needed fields(Postal Code) to Destination field (F). Then just choose the Key field as a Matching field and choose import action Create/Update All Fields and execute the upload.
    This should work.

  • SAP BW Time characteristics data type issue in BO OLAP Universe

    Hi Ingo,
    We have time characteristics in our SAP BW Queries, for example OCALMONTH with data type NUMC.
    When we create OLAP Universe these objects are having Character as data type and not working properly when we use these objects as filters. The filter working on string instead of calender month.
    If i try to change the data type in Universe we are not able to execute Web Intelligence queries due to Driver Not Capable error.
    Appreciate you help.
    Regards,
    Ravi Kumar Garre

    Hi,
    Please find my linline answers:
    - are you entering the value manually or did you select the value from a list of values ?
    I am selecting the values from list.
    - based on which item is the list of values ?
    List of valules are coming from BI infoObject 0CALMONTH
    - what about creating a variable for this in the underlying BW query ?
    We have created a BI Variable, found that the Condition operator is Between and hence when execute the WebI query for this object there are two prompts one is for FROM value another is for TO value. If i give a value Dec, 2007 for FROM and leave TO as blank then i am getting data for all months instead of DEC 2007 onwards.
    - did you trace the Web Intleligence part to see the details ?
    I do not have authorization to login on server and find the trace. I will ask our BO Administrator for MDX log file.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Unicode and non-unicode string data types Issue with 2008 SSIS Package

    Hi All,
    I am converting a 2005 SSIS Package to 2008. I have a task which has SQL Server as the source and Oracle as the destination. I copy the data from a SQL server view with a field nvarchar(10) to a field of a oracle table varchar(10). The package executes fine
    on my local when i use the data transformation task to convert to DT_STR. But when I deploy the dtsx file on the server and try to run from an SQL Job Agent it gives me the unicode and non-unicode string data types error for the field. I have checked the registry
    settings and its the same in my local and the server. Tried both the data conversion task and Derived Column task but with no luck. Pls suggest me what changes are required in my package to run it from the SQL Agent Job.
    Thanks.

    What is Unicode and non Unicode data formats
    Unicode :
    A Unicode character takes more bytes to store the data in the database. As we all know, many global industries wants to increase their business worldwide and grow at the same time, they would want to widen their business by providing
    services to the customers worldwide by supporting different languages like Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic. Many websites these days are supporting international languages to do their business and to attract more and more customers and that makes life
    easier for both the parties.
    To store the customer data into the database the database must support a mechanism to store the international characters, storing these characters is not easy, and many database vendors have to revised their strategies and come
    up with new mechanisms to support or to store these international characters in the database. Some of the big vendors like Oracle, Microsoft, IBM and other database vendors started providing the international character support so that the data can be stored
    and retrieved accordingly to avoid any hiccups while doing business with the international customers.
    The difference in storing character data between Unicode and non-Unicode depends on whether non-Unicode data is stored by using double-byte character sets. All non-East Asian languages and the Thai language store non-Unicode characters
    in single bytes. Therefore, storing these languages as Unicode uses two times the space that is used specifying a non-Unicode code page. On the other hand, the non-Unicode code pages of many other Asian languages specify character storage in double-byte character
    sets (DBCS). Therefore, for these languages, there is almost no difference in storage between non-Unicode and Unicode.
    Encoding Formats:
    Some of the common encoding formats for Unicode are UCS-2, UTF-8, UTF-16, UTF-32 have been made available by database vendors to their customers. For SQL Server 7.0 and higher versions Microsoft uses the encoding format UCS-2 to store the UTF-8 data. Under
    this mechanism, all Unicode characters are stored by using 2 bytes.
    Unicode data can be encoded in many different ways. UCS-2 and UTF-8 are two common ways to store bit patterns that represent Unicode characters. Microsoft Windows NT, SQL Server, Java, COM, and the SQL Server ODBC driver and OLEDB
    provider all internally represent Unicode data as UCS-2.
    The options for using SQL Server 7.0 or SQL Server 2000 as a backend server for an application that sends and receives Unicode data that is encoded as UTF-8 include:
    For example, if your business is using a website supporting ASP pages, then this is what happens:
    If your application uses Active Server Pages (ASP) and you are using Internet Information Server (IIS) 5.0 and Microsoft Windows 2000, you can add "<% Session.Codepage=65001 %>" to your server-side ASP script.
    This instructs IIS to convert all dynamically generated strings (example: Response.Write) from UCS-2 to UTF-8 automatically before sending them to the client.
    If you do not want to enable sessions, you can alternatively use the server-side directive "<%@ CodePage=65001 %>".
    Any UTF-8 data sent from the client to the server via GET or POST is also converted to UCS-2 automatically. The Session.Codepage property is the recommended method to handle UTF-8 data within a web application. This Codepage
    setting is not available on IIS 4.0 and Windows NT 4.0.
    Sorting and other operations :
    The effect of Unicode data on performance is complicated by a variety of factors that include the following:
    1. The difference between Unicode sorting rules and non-Unicode sorting rules
    2. The difference between sorting double-byte and single-byte characters
    3. Code page conversion between client and server
    Performing operations like >, <, ORDER BY are resource intensive and will be difficult to get correct results if the codepage conversion between client and server is not available.
    Sorting lots of Unicode data can be slower than non-Unicode data, because the data is stored in double bytes. On the other hand, sorting Asian characters in Unicode is faster than sorting Asian DBCS data in a specific code page,
    because DBCS data is actually a mixture of single-byte and double-byte widths, while Unicode characters are fixed-width.
    Non-Unicode :
    Non Unicode is exactly opposite to Unicode. Using non Unicode it is easy to store languages like ‘English’ but not other Asian languages that need more bits to store correctly otherwise truncation will occur.
    Now, let’s see some of the advantages of not storing the data in Unicode format:
    1. It takes less space to store the data in the database hence we will save lot of hard disk space.
    2. Moving of database files from one server to other takes less time.
    3. Backup and restore of the database makes huge impact and it is good for DBA’s that it takes less time
    Non-Unicode vs. Unicode Data Types: Comparison Chart
    The primary difference between unicode and non-Unicode data types is the ability of Unicode to easily handle the storage of foreign language characters which also requires more storage space.
    Non-Unicode
    Unicode
    (char, varchar, text)
    (nchar, nvarchar, ntext)
    Stores data in fixed or variable length
    Same as non-Unicode
    char: data is padded with blanks to fill the field size. For example, if a char(10) field contains 5 characters the system will pad it with 5 blanks
    nchar: same as char
    varchar: stores actual value and does not pad with blanks
    nvarchar: same as varchar
    requires 1 byte of storage
    requires 2 bytes of storage
    char and varchar: can store up to 8000 characters
    nchar and nvarchar: can store up to 4000 characters
    Best suited for US English: "One problem with data types that use 1 byte to encode each character is that the data type can only represent 256 different characters. This forces multiple
    encoding specifications (or code pages) for different alphabets such as European alphabets, which are relatively small. It is also impossible to handle systems such as the Japanese Kanji or Korean Hangul alphabets that have thousands of characters."1
    Best suited for systems that need to support at least one foreign language: "The Unicode specification defines a single encoding scheme for most characters widely used in businesses around the world.
    All computers consistently translate the bit patterns in Unicode data into characters using the single Unicode specification. This ensures that the same bit pattern is always converted to the same character on all computers. Data can be freely transferred
    from one database or computer to another without concern that the receiving system will translate the bit patterns into characters incorrectly.

  • Function returning string.  Data type question

    Hello all,
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    Our database has a parent record master_member_record_id & and children of those records member_record_id. I wrote a function which returns the master record for the child.
    eg. get_master(member_record_id). simple enough.
    I have wrote the opposite of this also, get_member_records(master_member_record_id). Obviously this function has multiple records to return so I have it set to return a listagg string with ',' separation. They want to be able to use this function as follows:
    select * from member_table where member_record_id in (get_member_records(master_member_record_id));
    or something similar, I realize this is a data type issue here, wondering if this is even possible. What do you think?
    Thanks in advance for your criticism/help,
    Chris

    My disagreement is with how pipeline table functionality is used.
    Instead of this (what it sounds like the OP is doing but returning CSV format)
    create or replace type TClientIdArray is table of number;
    create or replace function GetClientIDs( parentID number ) return TClientIdArray is
      array TClientIdArray;
    begin
      select
        client_id bulk collect into array
      from master_table
      where parent_id = parentID;
      return( array );
    end;A pipeline would look as follows:
    create or replace type TClientIdArray is table of number;
    create or replace function GetClientIDs( parentID number ) return TClientIdArray pipelined is
    begin
      for c in (select
                   client_id
                 from master_table
                 where parent_id = parentID ) loop
        pipe row( c.client_id );
      end loop;
      return;
    end;The first method is in fact more sensible in this case, especially when used from PL/SQL. A single SQL call/context switch to get a list of client identifiers. The issues with the first method are
    - cannot effectively deal with a large data set of client identifiers
    - would be suboptimal to use this function in subsequent SQL
    - if called by a client, a ref cursor (not collection) should be returned
    But assuming that the list of client identifiers are needed to be stepped through via complex PL/SQL app processing, using a (small) array is fine (assuming that concurrency/locking is not needed via a FOR UPDATE on the select that identifies the client identifiers to process).
    A pipeline in this case does not do anything better. It introduces more moving parts - as a native PL/SQL can no longer be used to get the collection and step through it. A TABLE() SQL function is needed, a SQL statement, and more context switching.
    The pipeline is simply an unnecessary layer between the code wanting to use the client identifiers and the SQL statement supplying the client identifiers. This approach of SQL -calls-> PIPELINE -calls-> MORE SQL is invariable wrong - unless the pipeline (PL/SQL code) does something very funky with the data from its SQL call, prior to piping it, that cannot be done using SQL.
    If the "user" of that client identifiers is SQL code, then both the above methods are flawed. As this code is already SQL, why use PL/SQL to call more SQL code? Simply use the SQL code/logic that supplies the client identifier list directly in the SQL code that needs the client identifiers. This means something like SQL JOIN, EXISTS, or IN clauses.

I have already looked at blog http://weblogs.java.net/blog/kohlert/archive/2006/10/jaxws_and_type.html but unable to solve this issue. However, at run time using a tool like SoapUI, when this wsdl is imported, I am able to see all the params related to AccountIC class.
    Can some one help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Sudha.

    Did you try adding the the XmlSeeAlso annotation to the webservice
    @XmlSeeAlso({<package.name>.AccountIC.class})
    This will add the schema for the data type (AccountIC) to the WSDL.
    Hope this helps.

  • Issue when SelectOneChoice is used with Domain data type in JDev 11.1.2.0.0

    Hi,
    I am facing one issue while working with SelectOneChoice along with Custom Domain data type. Sample app to simulate the issue is available at http://www.filejumbo.com/Download/6FDF6ECF2922BD24
    Issue Details.
    Base view object’s attribute is of type CustomString, for which another static VO’s attribute is attached as LOV. LOV attribute is of type String. Because of this data type mismatch between LOV VO attribute and Base VO attribute, while working in screen, initially we were facing Class cast exception.
    Cannot convert <<LOV Attr. Val.>> of type class java.lang.String to class model.domain.common.CustomString This is not only for this type of SelectOneChoice but also for InputText field whose underlying VO attribute is of type CustomString (i.e. any Custom Domain type)
    On raising this in Jdeveloper forum, I came to know that adding a default oracle converter against the UI Component will take care of converting to respective data type. After added the converter for InputText and SelectOneChoice components, this issue got resolved. This was our lesson while working in Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.3.0. Converter we used,
    <f:converter converterId="oracle.genericDomain"/> When we try the same scenario in Jdev Version 11.1.1.4.0, without having the oracle converter itself, SelectOneChoice started working fine!! (i.e. it is able to set the base attribute with LOV attribute’s value but with proper base attribute’s domain data type). Anyhow, converter is required for InputText.
    When we try the same scenario in Jdeveloper new version 11.1.2.0.0, it started giving class cast exception when we don’t have oracle converter for SelectOneChoice. But by adding it, though it didn’t give such class cast exception message, though a selection is made in SelectOneChoice, VO attribute has not been updated with the new value. Instead it is updated with null value (Checked the setter method of view row impl by having break point) . Because of this, after a selection is made, when we try to read the attribute value from VO on button click, VO attribute always returns null.
    We have also tried our own converters but there is no change in the behavior.
    The above misbehavior can be tested either by having SOP programmatically or by refreshing the SelectOneChoice by giving its id as Partial trigger to itself with autosubmit set to true, so that the selected value will be reset to null irrespective of the selection made.
    For convenience, Issue details with Sample application is shared. Shared link : http://www.filejumbo.com/Download/6FDF6ECF2922BD24
    Shared folder contains
    1. Sample App developed on Jdev 11.1.1.4.0 to ensure it didn’t give this error.
    2. Sample App developed on Jdev 11.1.2.0.0 to simulate this error.
    3. Error details in a document.
    Can anybody have a look at this and tell me why this misbehavior and is it a bug? If so, any workaround available to continue the development?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Sorry for the late reply John and Frank. Ya i did. Thank you.
    One more detail:
    I tested the behavior in Jdeveloper 11.1.2.0.0. The recent surprise is Select One Choice is behaving perfectly when it used in Grid layout and fail to work when it is form layout. I am getting surprised why behavior of component varies based on the way it refers the binding.
    for form layout,
    value=#{bindings.
    for grid layout,
    value=#{row.bindings.

    return (AccountIC)fintObjInst.clone();
    }else{
    return null;
    public void setfintObjInst(AccountIC val) {
    if(val != null) {
    if(fintObjInst == null) {
    fintObjInst = new ArrayList<AccountIC>();
    fintObjInst.add(val);
    For the nested user defined data type AccountIC, it is defined in another java class as below
    AccountIC.java
    public class AccountIC implements Serializable, Cloneable, SiebelHierarchy {
    protected String fname = null;
    protected String fParent_Account_Id= null;
    protected String fPrimary_Organization = null;
    With the above, I was able to get all the AccountIC in the wsdl correctly and using this I was able to set the input param in the client
    WSDL:
    <xs:complexType name="accountEMRIO">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="fIntObjectFormat" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fIntObjectName" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fMessageId" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fMessageType" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fOutputIntObjectName" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fintObjInst" type="tns:accountIC" minOccurs="0"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    <xs:complexType name="accountIC">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="fName" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fParent_Account_Id" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fPrimary_Organization" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    minOccurs="0"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    Now, I wanted to make slight difference in getter method of class Account_EMRIO method getfintObjInst so that an array of AccountIC is retured as output.
    public ArrayList<AccountIC> getfintObjInst() {
    if(fintObjInst != null) {
    return (ArrayList<AccountIC>)fintObjInst.clone();
    }else{
    return null;
    With the above change, once the wsdl is generated, I am no longer getting fintObjInst field for AccountIC due to which I am unable to get the array list of accountIC
    WSDL:
    <xs:complexType name="accountEMRIO">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="fIntObjectFormat" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fIntObjectName" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fMessageId" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fMessageType" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xs:element name="fOutputIntObjectName" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    The issue that I am facing here is, we have a custom data type(AccountIC) which has several fields in it. In the output I need a array of AccountIC. In the java bean, when this type was defined as
    protected ArrayList <AccountIC> fintObjInst = null; I was unable to get a array of AccountIC. this gets complicated as inside a AccountIC there is array of contacts as well and all the time I am getting just the first records and not a array.
    To summarize: How to get xsd:list or maxoccurs property for a field in WSDL for the user defined\custom datatype?
    Can someone help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Sudha.

    can someone help with this??

  • Issue with Info Object Transport after changing Data Type

    Hi Experts,
    We have a DSO which is running past 5 years. And recently(3 days back) we added new fields into that DSO. Delta loaded for last three days and new info object (Say XXX) data populated into DSO.
    Now the problem is, We identified that, info object data type is not correct. We used data type NUMC  instead of CHAR.So Character information is missing for that field.
    Example:
    Data from ECC: ABC123
    Data Loaded to DSO: 123 (Missed character ABC)
    So we deleted data from DSO and changed the info object data type in Development system.
    And also I have deleted only last three days delta records from DSO and transported my info object to Production. But its giving error as: Info object contains data in DSO".
    But that info object field is empty in DSO. I have already deleted last three days delta.
    Do I need to Delete all 5 years data from DSO to change the data type of recently added new info object ?
    Please give me your solutions and ideas to solve this issue.
    Thank you,
    Best Regards,
    Santhosh

    Hi Raman,
    Thank you for your answer.
    When I changed the data type of info object in Dev, I deleted the content of DSO. And same thing transported to QA as well. Before importing changed info object, I just deleted the content of DSO from QA. So transport done successfully QA.
    But in Production we have a history of past 5 years. So I cant delete all contents of DSO.
    So just deleted only the delta request's which contains data for that info object(3 days back, we moved that info object(NUMC data type) to production,So last 3 days delta only loaded for that info object). And tried to transport it. But it was failed. I am sure we need to drop all data from DSO, if I am interested to go with same info object.
    I have some comments on your first approach,
    1. If we delete info objects from Dev DSO and transport to Production will give transport failure, Why because, my previous transports errors clearly saying that info object contains data in DSO . So it wont allow to remove that info object from DSO.
    2.We are using same info object technical name in BO Data federator also. So if we change add new info objects again we need to make changes with BO as well. I am thinking this point as my last option if i cant find any other solution.
    Thank you.
    Best Regards.

  • Issue with Oracle LONG RAW data type

    Hi All,
    I am facing some issues with Oracle LONG RAW DATA Type.
    We are using Oracle 9IR2 Database.
    I got a table having LONG RAW column and I need to transfer the same into another table having LONG RAW column.
    When I tried using INSERT INTO SELECT * command (or) CREATE TABLE as select * , it is throwing ORA-00997: illegal use of LONG datatype.
    I have gone through some docs and found we should not use LONG RAW using these operations.
    So I did some basic PLSQL block given below and I was able to insert most of the records. But records where the LONG RAW file is like 7O kb, the inserting is faliling.
    I tried to convert LONG RAW to BLOB and again for the record where the LONG RAW is big in size I am getting (ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error) error.
    Appreciate if anyone can help me out here.
    DECLARE

  • Crystal Data Conversion Issue (Error converting data type varchar to datetime)

    Hi,
    I can run stored procedure without error in SQL Server using my personal credentials as well as database credentials.
    I can also run Crystal Report after connecting to Stored procedure without error on my desktop using my personal credentials as well as database credentials.
    But when I upload the crystal report in BOBJDEV and when I run using database credentials report fails saying that "Error in File ~tmp1d1480b8e70fd90.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 18456 ]" but I can run the crystal report successfully on BOBJDEV using my personal credentials.
    I googled (Data Conversion Error Message) about this issue & lot of people asked to do "Verify Database" in Crystal Report. So I did that, but when I do it I am getting a error message like this:
    Error converting data type varchar to datetime.
    Where do you think the error might be occurring? Did anyone faced this kind of issue before? If so, how to resolve it?
    (FYI, I am using Crystal Reports 2008, & for stored procedure I have used SSMS 2012 )
    Please help me with this issue.
    Thanks & Regards.
    Naveen.

    hello Naveen,
    since the report works fine in the cr designer / desktop, we need to figure out where you should post this question.
    by bobjdev do you mean businessobjects enterprise or crystal reports server? if so please post this question to the bi platform space.

  • [svn] 1543: Bug: BLZ-152-lcds custom Date serialization issue - need to add java.io. Externalizable as the first type tested in AMF writeObject() functions

    Revision: 1543
    Author: [email protected]
    Date: 2008-05-02 15:32:59 -0700 (Fri, 02 May 2008)
    Log Message:
    Bug: BLZ-152-lcds custom Date serialization issue - need to add java.io.Externalizable as the first type tested in AMF writeObject() functions
    QA: Yes - please check that the fix is working with AMF3 and AMFX and you can turn on/off the fix with the config option.
    Doc: No
    Checkintests: Pass
    Details: The problem in this case was that MyDate.as was serialized to MyDate.java on the server but on the way back, MyDate.java was serialized back to Date.as. As the bug suggests, added an Externalizable check in AMF writeObject functions. However, I didn't do this for AMF0Output as AMF0 does not support Externalizable. To be on the safe side, I also added legacy-externalizable option which is false by default but when it's true, it restores the current behavior.

  • Issue is De-serializing nested date type using Axiss 1.4

    We are using Axis 1.4 and face issue during deserialization in handling date types. The scenario is explained below. I couldn’t find enough information on net on below and hence asking question to the apache team. Please note when we switch to Axis 2, issue is not seen. Upgrading may not be a simple option for us as of now, and hence I was evaluating possible workarounds or solution if any.
    The XSD contains type “DateofBirthType” which is of type xsd:date
    Child XSDs contains element “DateofBirth” of type “DateOfBirthType”
    When Java client invokes the web service, IllegalArgumentException is seen while de-serializing this “DateOfBirthType” element. If we remove “DateOfBirthType” and map it directly to xsd:date type all works fine.
    We have generated the stub using Axis 1.4 and trying to access the RetrieveIndividualCustInformation  operation through stub, but getting the (IllegalArgumentException) while axis tries to deserialize the response for all the fields having data types as date which is indirectly mapped (nested mapping) as shown below.
    e.g. IndividualInfo-----DateOfBirth(Type—DateOfbirth ---Which is of Type Date)-_you will face illegal argument exception.
    So, when we changed the type to simple date (not nested),then it worked fine. So it confirms that this problem is only for type date which is clearly seen in Axis 1.4 client.
    Please let me know if anyone faces similar/same issue or even know any such issue already persists and there are no possible workarounds and/or fixes for this. In that case we can put up case to migrate to Axis2.
    Please reply ASAP.

    Hi, Shank,
    My guess is that you want:
    , dense_rank () over (order by  tmstp  desc)  AS rn RANK means you'll skip numbers when there's a tie. For example, if 3 rows all have the exact same latest tmstp, all 3 rows would be assigned number 1, RANK would assign 4 to the next row, but DENSE_RANK assigns 2.
    "PARTITION BY x" means that you want a separate series of numbers (starting with 1) for every value of x. If you want just one series of numbers for the whole result set, then don't use a PARTITION BY clause at all. (PARTITION BY is never required.)
    Maybe you wnat to PARTITON BY cd. I can't tell without some sample data, and an explanation of why you want the given results from that data.
    You certainly don't want to PARTITION BY the same expression that you ORDER BY; that just means all rows tie for #1.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Simplify the problem as much as possible.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
