Database change

Our company uses Deltek Costpoint w/Oracle 8i and Great Plains eEnterprise w/SQL 7.0...
Please advise how we can migrate our data from Oracle to MSQL.
Thanks,

hi,
same database version & release..
you can convert ..
but you need to follow either RMAN using convert or cross-platform using transportable tablespaces..

  • Using Database Change Notification instead of After Insert Trigger

Hello guys! I have an after insert trigger that calls a procedure, which in turn is doing an update or insert on another table. Due to mutating table errors I declared the trigger and procedure as autonomously transactional. The problem is, that old values of my main tables are inserted into the subtable since the after insert/update trigger is fired before the commit.
My question is how can I solve that and how could I use the change notification package to call my procedure? I now that this notification is only started after a DML/DDL action has been commited on a table.
If you could show me how to carry out the following code with a Database Change Notification I'd be delighted. Furthermore I need to know if it suffices to set up this notification only once or for each client seperately?
Many thanks for your help and expertise!

  • How to port database changes from development to a production environment

How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

Help required to fit custom SQL in mapping.xml file for complex queries.
    Thanks,
    Arun Jadhav.

"Execuite Custom SQL" in DB adapter and you'l get it.
But in this case you'll have to implement your own polling strategy (if you need one).
If you want to use one of the predefined polling strategy you should use "Poll for New or Changed records" and import all the tables you use and connect them in wizard.

  • Issue in Oracle 11g Database Change Notification  for Java application

    Hi,
I am trying to use Oracle's Database Change Notification in Java application.
I followed the sample application (+DBChangeNotification.java+ , Example 29-2), provided in the following link:
I am able to see that the Registration of the SQL query is successful.
But, when I do changes to the table registered, notifications are not received in the Listener class (+DCNDemoListener.java+).
Ideally, the method DCNDemoListener.onDatabaseChangeNotification() should be invoked on any insert/update to the registered table. But this method is not getting invoked.
The execution has stopped in the following line of DBChangeNotification.java Class.
    this.wait();
+==> The application was WAITing indefinitely in this line, as the NOTIFY() from DCNDemoListener.java was not executed.+
I am using VPN to connect to Oracel server. Remote Oracle Server is protected my firewall. Is this the reason for not sending the notifications from Oracle server?
The version of software used are given below:
    Oracle Client - Oracle 11.1.0
    JDK - 1.6
    Oracle JDBC Driver - ojdbc6.jar
Can someone help me to resolve this issue?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Sam

I am having similar issue. Where you able to resolve it.
I am also using the same example you were using.
I am using the following version.
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    Compatibility: 11.2.0.0.0
I do not see any notification coming back from the DB.

  • Best practice for tracking database changes...?

    Dear Oracle gurus,
I'm still relatively new to database administrating, and recently I ran into a situation which I'm not sure if there's some text-book scenario analysis or practice.
I find it hard to track all the database changes across different servers. Our company develop software that uses the Oracle database, so we have development and test servers set up here and there, with really minimal control on them. Problem arises when we make rapid design changes to our system, which required multiple and rapid changes to the databases. I find it really hard to keep track of everything, because sometimes I can't patch some server because of people still using it for development/testing/investigation/etc.
So, is there some kind of good practices for tracking database changes (which we even write patches for), monitoring schema modifications, or maybe even versioning database objects? I've tried to find some information but I think I did not look in the right places or ask the right questions.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Peter Tung

The first thing I would start with is:
Find a version control system that will allow you to store files and version them (PVCS for example). You could for example, store all the sql scripts. Whenever a change is needed, the user could check the program out from the version control tool and make changes and check it back in. Besides sql scripts, you could also store binary files or any type of source code files in a version control system. This would at least put some things in order. In a version control system, you could associate a number or a string with all the files within a patch.

  • How to know the database changes between different releases

Where can I get the information of database changes, like for example new columns new tables, etc, between different releases?
My goal to try to determine the current version, or is there a better way?
    Thank you

For JD Edwards World or for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne - you can go to upgradejde.com Once this screen comes up, pick Resources. You will then have an option to take JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or JD Edwards World. On the next screen, you can select the tab Compare Releases. This will allow you to enter the release that you are currently on and enter the latest GA release of software. You will then see all the differences between your current release and the release you should upgrade to. You can also format this into a printed report.

Can you tell me if possible, and if so ... how?
    thanks !

  • Database changed or Memory Unavailable Error in Album

    Hi -
I had updated my XZ1 to 4.4.2. In the Album, there is an option Faces (which detects the faces) and asks to add names. So when I try to add name I get the message "Database Changed or Memory unavailable". The other problem I am facing is that my Camera storage was earlier on SD card. I still can see the photos on SD card thru the File Commander. The Album is not showing any of those photos but it shows the album art from my media folder. I am thinking both are connected in the sense that it has the cache of faces somewhere (I cleared data and cache multiple times) but it is not recognising the actual photo database for some reason so it is not able to write the name information (When I select the name option) to the actual photos.
    Any suggestions..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
I suggest that you try to clear data for album and media storage under settings > apps > all > album/media storage > clear data. Restart the phone and wait for the phone to index all media files again.

  • Database Change Notification and TopLink Cache Invalidation

Has someone succeeed in implementing the How-to Database Change Notification and TopLink Cache Invalidation.
I have corrected some document errata about the pl/sql content and I manage to have messages in the 'notify_queue'.
I obtain the Topic in Java from this queue.
But the TopicSuscriber instances do not receive any message. Is there something to have in mind to make it work ?
    Regards.

    Reviving this thread again...
I am using DCN feature to build a middle-tier cache. I know oracle has problem sending physical rowid in case of 'Index Organized Table', however, in normal table also its not able to send proper rowid.
    e.g, I have 2 records in Table A with rowid AAARIUAAGAAAV/uABw and AAARIUAAGAAAV/pAAX.
I have updated both the records. Strangely for the first record, oracle is sending INVALID rowid, although for the second record its sending the valid one.
    Following is the output:
Row 1:  (Wrong rowid being sent, AAARIUAAGAAAV/uABw is replaced with AAARIUAAGAAAXDCAAr)
    Connection information  : local=localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1:47633, remote=localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1:2278
    Registration ID         : 2102
    Notification version    : 1
    Event type              : OBJCHANGE
    Database name           : <sid>
    Table Change Description (length=1)
        operation=[UPDATE], tableName=<table_name>, objectNumber=70164
        Row Change Description (length=1):
          ROW:  operation=UPDATE, ROWID=AAARIUAAGAAAXDCAAr
Row 2:  (Right rowid being sent, AAARIUAAGAAAV/pAAX)
    Connection information  : local=localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1:47633, remote=localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1:2278

  • Oracle Database Change Notification Logs

We use Oracle's database change notification feature to implement a local cache in our application server. Oracle version - Standard edition 11.2.0.3.
There are some use cases where the cache is not updated. Probably this could be because the registration of the application server is somehow deleted. To investigate these issues, I would like to know on how can I enable oracle logs for the below events
    1. Registration and un-registration for DCN.
    2. Notification sent from the oracle side.
Kindly let me know how to enable oracle logs.

    Troubleshooting
If you have created a registration and seem to not receive notifications when the underlying tables are changed, please check the following.
•Is the job_queue_processes parameter set to a non-zero value? This parameter needs to be configured to a non-zero value in order to receive PL/SQL notifications via the handler.
•Are the registrations being created as a non-SYS user?
•If you are attempting DML changes on the registered object, are you COMMITing the transaction? Please note that the notifications are transactional and will be generated when the transaction COMMITs.
•It maybe possible that there are run-time errors during the execution of the PL/SQL callback due to implementation errors. If so, they would be logged to the trace file of the JOBQ process that attempts to execute the procedure. The trace file would be usually named <ORACLE_SID>j*<PID>.trc. '
For example, if the ORACLE_SID is 'dbs1' and the process is 12483, the trace file might be named 'dbs1_j000_12483.trc.
Suppose a registration is created with 'chnf_callback as the notification handler and with registration_id 100. Let us suppose the user forgets to define the chnf_callback procedure. Then the JOBQ trace file might contain a message of the following form.
Runtime error during execution of PL/SQL cbk chnf_callback for reg CHNF100
Error in PLSQL notification of msgid:
    Queue :
    Consumer Name :

  • Database changes between data records of PSA

    Hi all,
Does anybody know a way, how to flush or commit database change between processing each data record from PSA by transfer rules?
I have some routines in transfer rules (updating attributes of master data from datasource), where I need values from exactly previously processed data record. But SELECT from /BIC/Q... table gives me no changes of these values
Command of selection is written correctly, because it gives me new values in next run of DTP process.
And little explanation, what I'm trying to achieve:
In PSA  I have account, date and value and I need count, how this value changed for a concrete day and store this value to time-dependent attribute of master data. All data records with the same key (duplicate record) overwrite the result of previously one, so only last one is stored in master data.
Shortly, I need something like aggregation ADDING of routine in transfer rule detail, but able to catch duplicate records.
    Thank you for any idea.
    Regards, Filip

    Some note about investigation process.
I tried change my data flow and made the same transfer rules from data source to ODS, if it will behave in different way.
I have found data records correctly collected (agregated) in New data of ODS, but EMPTY in active data! So I think, the something similar happend in case of updating master data, and that's why I didn't saw any agregation.
There is no need to call-out database changes, but this problem is kind od anythink else
This shoud be for a new thread, but how can keyfigures become empty after activation?? I've searched forum and found only a case, when End routines are implemented and they skip update rules, whitch are initial. This is not my case.
Nice to hear from you any ideas. Thankx for reading.

    Hi Paulbin,
Do you want to supply a function-pointer to a DLL so it can call[back] your VI?  Here's how it can be done with .NET, though, that solution requires a C compiler.   A single "VI_to_function-reference" utility could handle all cases where the callback passes no parameters.  Maybe someday somebody will share that dll.
Did you know that LabVIEW can use Events for some COM-signals change?  See pic.  (Note: DTR is not listed - - )
Another question is another function's prototype is WORD SetTestType(WORD comHandle, bool type1, bool type2, bool type3),   I tried to use a boolean control and a Boolean to (0,1) node in labVIEW to pass parameters to CLF, I config the bool input value as U8(according to C++ bool type) and U32(according to WIN32 BOOL type), it dose not help, when I execute the VI, LabVIEW will be disappeare, it seems to be closed, I must start it again.
Could someone has similar experience on this points?
It's easy to crash LabVIEW misusing CLF - maybe there's another reason for the crash besides bool mis-match(?)  Do you know which "Calling convention" is required?  What type is comHandle? (where does comHandle come from?)
    Cheers!

    Hi,
If you are doing some changes like add/remove of columns that has been used by reports query then changes in database can make reports to function in wrong way.
Cares : Maximum use of %type.
