Database connectivity issues since upgrading to 2011

I have several reports that were created in CR 2008.  Since upgrading to 2011, none of them connect to the SQL server when I try to refresh the data.  The error message says invalid logon.  I can get the reports to refresh if I follow this process:
1.     Close the report
2.     Delete connections to the SQL server
3.     Close CR
4.     Open CR
5.     Create a new blank report and connect to the same data source as the failed report
6.     Open the report that was failing
7.     Refresh the data
Everything works at that point.  Once I close CR, next time I access the report I have to go through the entire process again.  Saving the reports after successfully establishing a connection does not fix the issue.  I have reset the data source location from the database menu as well as established new system and file DSNs.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Darren

Hi Darren,
What I meant for version of CR 2011 is to click on Help About... you'll see the version number there.
Interesting, So if it fails in the ODBC Admin test then of course it's going to fail in CR Designer, CR simply uses what connection info you specify in the DSN or in the file. If you can get the DSN to work non-kerberose then adding that configuration to your File DSN should allow CR to work also.
Couple of possibilities, Older versions of CR ignored the security configuration, or at least this one test, and it was fixed in CR 2011, or possibly the File DSN needs to have the security type enabled through the connection property. Check MS for help on what the info in the line is to enable it.
Another possible solution is according to this MS Kbase they recommend that you use Kerberose...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909801
So the result is, Set Kerberose on the Server or find out how MS will support non-kerberose security client side and see if that works. But because MS recommends using it discuss with your DBA and recommend to all to enable it and use it.
Thanks again

  • Messages App| connectivity issues since upgrading to Mavericks

is anyone having problems since upgrading to Mavericks with connectivity issues in the "Messages" app? Im on a 2011 MacBook Pro. I will start a desktop share session with my folks (IMAC) and within 2-3 minutes of having access to their desktop, I'm unable to control any longer and their system freezes.

    HI,
When iChat 3 came out someone tested whether it would work on the platform that was running iChat 2 and also tested whether iChat 2 would work on the later OS.
This eventually led to the Reinstall procedure for iChat 3 up to the iChat 5 version.
Since then the app has required either a Backup version from when it was working, a copy on another machine running the same OS and app version numbers (the two go hand in hand) or you have to Reinstall the whole OS which will always update you to the latest version of the OS (and in the case of Messages any updates it has had).

  • Connectivity issues since upgrading to Snow Leopard

Hello folks.  Sorry to dredge up bad memories, but I upgraded my old MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) from 10.5.8 to 10.6.3.  AirportX firmware update ran at the same time, now my network shows as connected, but I can't connect to mail or Internet.  It was supposed to be an interim step so I could go to a more current o/s via online download, but obviously that's not an option right now.
The Airport is green, I show as having a connection to the network, but nothing works.  I've restarted both MacBook and Airport, reinstalled SL, still nothing.  There's no antivirus on board, and no sharing set up, which I gather were common issues back when the rest of you were encountering this issue back in 2009... Didn't occur to me it wouldn't have been patched long since.
    Any suggestions?

Same problem here - the MobileMe sync never completes. I've checked syncing from my iPhone back to the Me.com web site, and that is fine. So the problem seems to be between my newly-upgraded 10.6 Mac and the MobileMe "cloud."
Best I can tell, the hangup is with calendar sync. Here's what the Console log tells me:
8/29/09 9:20:30 AM com.apple.syncservices.SyncServer[2162] 2009-08-29 09:20:30.085 iCalExternalSync[2183:903] [ICalExternalSync ]The sync server failed to let client iCal pull changes
    And the mobilemesync.log says this:
2009-08-29 09:25:20:858|35a2b00|Error|Sync cancelled for dataclass com.apple.Calendars while merging changes in Sync Engine: Session <ISyncConcreteSession: 0x10274b8f0> cancelled. lost connection to SyncServer
Could it just be traffic? That seems unlikely.
I've already tried to "Reset Sync Data" under "Advanced" in the MobileMe Sync preferences - I told the sync to replace everything on my computer with info from MobileMe. That didn't fix the problem.
My last successful sync was right before my upgrade from 10.5.8!
    Ideas?
    -Barry

  • Performance issues since upgrade

I am on a late 2011 MacBook Pro and am having severs performance issues since upgrading to Mavericks. I fear my issues may be related to company installed anti-virus (which I cannot remove), but I was hoping someone could look over my EtreCheck for other potential solutions.
One really odd issue I am having, which I cannot seem to find good information for on Google, is at least 4-5 times a day my Mac just stops. No beach ball, no anything, for about 1-5 minutes. Then it's fine. Maybe just me grasping at straws, but it seems related to a when webpage loads a bunch of images? I always use Safari btw, but testing other browsers, like Chrome & Firefox, it happens as well.
I have also removed TotalFinder and have noticed no improvement and still have the above issue.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Are there any known issues with Adobe Edge Animate and Yosemite? Experiencing performance issues since upgrading OS

Are there any known issues with Adobe Edge Animate and Yosemite? Experiencing performance issues since upgrading OS. Animation I was working on that had been performing in browser fine suddenly stopped working, and was not related to any action I had done at that point. Also was working in it today and program stopped responding to key board short cut commands.

I am having a whole slew of odd interface problems with a fresh 2014.1.1 on a fresh macbook pro with latest Yosemite. Program locks up, cursor selections don't show, things disappear. I have a mac mini also and the program runs fine on it. Is there possibly something related to the solid state hard drive in new macs?

  • Proxy Issues since upgrading to Mavericks

I use my Mac Mini (Model 5,1 Core i5, 2.3GHz) at work and run windows using VMWare. Since upgrading to Mavericks I cannot get OSX to connect to the proxy server. I am using the same settings as I used in Mountain Lion, which worked fine. I do not have any problems with Windows connecting.
I can see the internal network, access files and printers, but cannot get through the proxy server to the internet. Oddly enough Dropbox on the Mac works fine through the proxy server so I have to think its a problem in Mavericks.
I have tried changing settings including manually entering proxy info for all protocols under network settings.
Unfortunately the IT guys only support Windows (which is working) so I am on my own on the Mac side.
Anyone else having a problem or have a solution (besides waiting for an update)?

One of the users just upgraded and is having this issue as well. I told him to use Firefox as that browser has no problems. This is a workaround at best as the Apple Store is still inaccessable. I believe the problem lies with Safari's implementation of SSL as normal http:// sites load, albeit very slowly. Any sites that use https:// are unavailable.

  • CFMail Issues since Upgrading to CF10

Ever since upgrading to CF10, we've been having some odd issues with our automated ColdFusion emails.  The processes always functioned properly in the past, but lately we've been getting some very out of the ordinary issues which I'll describe further below.
We discover the problem usually from contacts who usually receive these emails on a daily basis with or without attachments.  We'll go to the CFMAIL directory for the corresponding server and find a slew of emails stuck in the 'Undelivr' emails.  In some cases, we can just move these emails to the Spool folder and they process fine, but in most cases they result in one of the two errors below:
Error 1: In an email which normally does not contain a body and contains an attachment, the follow error is what we found in the logs:
    "Error","scheduler-1","01/15/13","14:09:56",,"javax.mail.MessagingException: missing body for message"
    javax.mail.MessagingException: missing body for message
                    at coldfusion.mail.MailImpl.createMessage(MailImpl.java:696)
                    at coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler.deliver(MailSpooler.java:1295)
                    at coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler.sendMail(MailSpooler.java:1197)
                    at coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler.deliverFast(MailSpooler.java:1657)
                    at coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler.run(MailSpooler.java:1567)
                    at coldfusion.scheduling.ThreadPool.run(ThreadPool.java:211)
                    at coldfusion.scheduling.WorkerThread.run(WorkerThread.java:71)
Placing these emails that have always been sent out this way in the past without an attachment in the spool directory causes it to go right back in the 'Undelivr' folder and resulting in the same error.  We ended up having to modify the email file and add random content in the body message, place it back in the spool directory, and it went through.  - Mind boggling.
    Error 2:
"Error","scheduler-2","02/04/13","09:08:17",,"javax.mail.MessagingException: Exception reading response;   nested exception is:
    java.net.SocketException: Connection reset"
Both errors occur randomly and we have not been able to find out what causes them randomly from time to time.  All other emails go through fine, but certain emails will never go out and end up in the 'Undelivr' folder.
We are running them on Windows Server 2008 64bit.

Peter, thanks for your suggestions however, the receipients in our email are either customers or internal users; which in any of the email issues we've been having, an invalid email address was not the cause.  Also, to note - these are not marketing emails.
Just standard batch notification emails, e.g., order / warehouse notification, daily automated processes, etc.  I do wish it were something that simple to resolve these email issues once and for all.
One other possible cause I've been looking at is "TCP/IP Port Exhaustion" - More info here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa560610%28v=bts.10%29.aspx
However, not sure how to exactly prove this to be the cause.

  • Fed up with speed and connection issues since exch...

Last Monday BT done some upgrade work at our local exchange.  From that point onwards we have had speed and connection issues.
I use a Belkin G Router rather that the Homehub some that we can run a printer through it and that is plugged in to telephone socket via an extension.  But before we blame any of that we have gone back to the Homehub2 so we could see the difference and there is very little.
We live in the countrside so broadband speeds are not great in any case.  About 1.8 mg I guess but we have always had no problems.  It was good enough for us and we could watch Iplayer.
I was getting fed up with drop outs and speed and yestereday an Openreach guy came out tested everything could not find any problems apart from speed.  He made some calls and was told our band width had been capped.  He had that removed and yesterday evening speed was a bit better.
    Today just as bad again.

Your high noise margin  will have a major impact  on your speed
If you post the full stats from your router
For homehub – type 192.168.1.254 into your browser
Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right of the home page and scroll down to ADSL Settings and click on it
Click on More Details and then post the full results.
also post the full results from http://speedtester.bt.com/
Have you tried connecting to the test socket at the rear of the master socket
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
also you could try the hints given by poster RogerB in this link they may help http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-in-Home/Poor-Broadband-speed/m-p/14217#M8397

  • IPad 2 is having connectivity issues since I updated to 8.0.2

My IPad 2 had connectivity for about 6 hours after I downloaded 8.0.2 last Saturday.  Sunday morning I was back to NO SERVICE in the upper left hand corner.  Yesterday I went to the Apple Store and they showed me how to reset the cellular data, and again I had my 3G back for 6 hours.  Last night and again today we were back to NO SERVICE.  Again I went to the Apple Store and they explained that there were a few phone models that were having cellular connectivity issues, but not IPads.  Well, that's bunk, since I see the complaints that are exactly like mine all over the web.  The Apple Store wiped my IPad clean and told me that if this is a software issue this should fix the problem.  If this is a hardware issue then I will need to buy a new IPad.
Apple needs to own up to the problems that it caused with our devices.  AT LEAST, we should be able to take the updates off of our IPads and go back to 7.0.

  • Wi-Fi connection issues since securing network

    Hi all,
Hoping to get some solutions as I have tried to troubleshoot this issue with other posts and google searches. Here is my scenario :
I'm running OS Lion 10.7.5 on my MBP and have been connected to our home wi-fi for about 12 months on a connection that wasn't secured by password.
Since having some download issues and fearing that someone is connecting outside our household, we have secured our wi-fi and added a password.
Both mine and my sister's iPhones got prompted to select a network, selected the appropriate one, punched in the password and were connected with no issues. My iPad Mini, Dad's laptop and both my parents' phones all connected with no issue.
When I booted my MBP, I was prompted with needing to join a new network and upon selecting our home network was met with an immediate 'Connection timeout' response.
I try to connect manually through Network in the System Preferences and got the same 'Connection Timeout'. When I click 'Assist me' and try to connect that way, I am finally prompted to input the password, which I do correctly and I get 'Invalid Password' etc etc response ... then after about 5 seconds it connects me !!
So even though the connection timed out and I wasn't able to put a password in, manually doing it told me the password was wrong etc then I get connection like normal. If I switch my laptop off/reboot/log out/turn wi-fi off then back on, I'm back to square one and can't connect unless I follow the same tedious steps.
Fearing it was an issue with our router, we have since bought a new one, installed it and reconnected all the devices as mentioned above, however my MBP connection issue still exists.
How can I get it to connect automatically like it used to and recognize our home network with a correct password, without continually having to go through all those steps ?
I have tried to delete that entry in my preferred networks and tried to re-establish it etc. Keychain Access doesn't list my router and input password.
I'd like to be able to solve the issue asap if possible and hopefully without having to delete all of my other known networks that I connect to as I travel all over the country for work and have about 6-8 routers I connect to, depending on what city/office I'm in.
Any assistance would be appreciated !

Some users with various Wi-Fi connection problems have reported that they were given the following instructions by Apple Support, sometimes with success. I can't vouch for this procedure myself. After completing the procedure, you'll have to recreate all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make sure you know how to do that before you begin. Taking screenshots of the preference pane may be helpful.
    Step 1
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 2
    Reset the System Management Controller

  • Major iPad 3 WiFi connection issues since 5.1.1 update

Prior to the 5.1.1 update (which ironically was supposed to fix wifi issues), my iPad 3 worked great.  Since the update it has been a complete disaster.
Even though it always shows a strong wifi connection, certain apps seem to have no connection while others work fine.  Safari usually works ok, although sometimes pictures won't show up - just a small box in the corner.  Facebook app always seems to have issues as does Pandora.  The biggest problem is the App Store or iTunes which say it cannot connect even though Safari works fine at the same time.  Ive tried reconnecting, rebooting, and I even bought a new router since I thought maybe my old one was causing the problem.
Is Apple fessing up to this issue?  I have to believe it is a software/firmware issue since before the update everthing worked fine.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Screen Issues since upgrading

Since upgrading to `lion,  my 2007 Macpro often runs very hot and also I have been experiencing some screen issues (hangs, on reboot get a pink and grey check effect, wont boot)
Support center advised on some resets and a re-install of Lion.  However although this has 'reduced' the effect it still occurs
    Any advise or similar experiences

If it runs better in your Guest account, then something in your admin account is getting in the way.
    Probably not a systemwide issue.
The first place I'd look is in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+). Don’t just “hide” them by checkmark.
Running at max RAM shouldn't be a problem in Mavericks, as it handles memory more efficiently than previous systems, also you have virtual memory and you have a good amount of free disk space for it.

That said more RAM is always better but I can understand why you wouldn't want to spend the money on the Mini at this point.

  • FontBook issues since upgrading to Mavericks

Since upgrading to mavericks when i try to install new typefaces (.otf, work perfectly on my other computers which are running on mountain lion). They do not show up in font book. Even when I manually add them to the Fonts folder, they still do not show up in Font Book or any of my applications. As a graphic designer, this is obviously a huge issue for me.
Not to mention, this isn't the only problem I have since upgrading. For example all of my adobe programs are suddenly riddled with bugs (issues resizing assets, drop down menus dissapear, etc). I have been trying to trouble shoot several issues for a while now with no solutions. All of the problems I have seem to be experienced by other users. It's very frustrating to me that the new OS is so buggy. I have never had this problem before when upgrading products.

  • WorkGroup Manager issues since upgrading to OS X Server 10.4.1.10

    Hi all.
Since upgrading our XServe [Dual 2.3GHz PowerPC G5, 6GB RAM] to OS X Server v10.4.1.10 I have had an issue where I have to quit the program and relaunch to be able to "see" a newly created network home folder. I need to view it under the Sharing tab so to assign the correct permissions since that has no longer worked since upgrading to server version 10.4.7.
Long story short is... we have our students home folder on the XServe and their preferences are managed via WGM but they use the Active Directory server for authentication. Basically our school district wanted to create a student account once and be able to use it for Windows or Mac's. Therefore, I export a user from the AD server and import the user into the Mac server ( LDAP domain) and things worked fine 2 years ago when the server was set up but now we have this... any thoughts would be appreciated.

    What was the upgrade from?
What optical drive model?  (There may be a firmware update on the Apple downloads to deal with Tiger.)
You might also try an NVRAM reset, as NVRAM is read early, by the machine’s boot firmware, and going back to ground zero can help.  To reset NVRAM, you need to boot into Open Firmware by holding down the cmd-option-O-F key combination until you get the white Open Firmware terminal screen.  Once you are there, enter the following three commands:
    reset-nvram <enter>
    set-defaults <enter>
    reset-all <enter>
The last command will cause the machine to reboot.  When you next boot, the firmware will generate a new device table and maybe cure the problem.

  • Oc4j and database connections issue (way too many created)

I seem to be experiencing a serious issue every time someone connects to my application. New connections are made to the database instead of using existing connections (i.e. pooling doesn't seem to work). In my data-sources.xml, the pools are set to have a max-connections of 3, yet when I query the v$sessions view, there are additional sessions created every time the application is hit which has sent it way over the max-connections parameter in the data-sources.xml file. If oc4j is pooling the connections how can this happen? Is there any way of tracking where this is occurring or what could be causing this? (SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME has been set, database is 10g, oc4j is 101202 and oc4j on linux platform)
    Thanks
    Paul

    Paul,
According to the documentation for OC4J 10.1.2, if you use the value of the "ejb-location" attribute (from the "data-sources.xml" file) when doing a JNDI lookup of your datasource, then you should be using connection pooling.
It's probably also an idea to not define a "pooled-location" attribute in your "data-sources.xml" file.
Also, you can get database connection information via the "Spy" [Web] application. Use the following URL:
    http://oc4jHost:oc4jPort/dmsoc4j/Spy
Of-course you need to replace "oc4jHost" and "oc4jPort" with the appropriate values. For example if you open your Web browser on the same machine that OC4J is running on, and if you are using the default port, then the URL will be:
    http://localhost:8888/dmsoc4j/Spy
    Good Luck,
    Avi.
